SONG: 'Cause you know it's been a long time coming…Don't ya let me fall, oh…Ooh, when your lips undress me…Hooked on your tongue…Ooh, love, your kiss is deadly, don't stop ~ Senorita by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello
Chapter 20
Scott:
Friday, Isaac started work with me. It took a while to get his paperwork done since we needed a copy of his birth certificate, and his father never kept a copy of it. Deaton had me showing him the ropes and he was taking it seriously. I could feel the gratefulness and confidence rolling off him as he jotted down notes to himself and asked questions. He did every task diligently and checked in often. A few times he watched me or Deaton work helping with pain when he could. I don't know if this is a career path he would take but he was just awed as I was when I first started. I loved seeing how relaxed he was. He was finally starting to feel settled.
Allison had thanked me this morning in class for getting him this job. She said he needed it, that he was floundering and feeling out of sorts in his life but now he felt he had purpose and direction. It was good to hear.
"Isaac, let me show you something." Deaton called him away from restocking. He went over the details of an x-ray for the cat I was currently giving an injection too. Isaac listened intently and I smiled. The cat mewled and tried to stretch but flinched in pain.
"I know buddy, I'm sorry." I soothed as I pet him taking a bit of his pain away. "You're all done now. Let's get you back to your cage so you can rest."
"I'll take him." Isaac said lifting him from the table and cooing as he took him back.
"He's a natural." Deaton commented.
"He is." I agreed, cleaning off the table.
"Think we got another veterinarian in the making?" Deaton asked.
"I don't know about that." Isaac cut in, coming back into the room. "My grades suck. I doubt I could get into college.
"You can, you just have to try. You're smart. Stupidly smart. I know you can do it if you want to." I told him.
"I don't know. I've been told a lot how dumb I was for most of my childhood. It's hard to think otherwise."
"Look Isaac, you had a crap start of things, I know. You didn't deserve what happened to you, no one does. But don't let that be an excuse to not try. If anything let it serve as motivation to prove your dad wrong."
"Listen to the alpha." Deaton smirked. I rolled my eyes. "Isaac if you decide this is something you want to do, I'll help you, just like I am helping Scott. You have time to work on your grades and if you work hard and apply yourself you can end up at my alma mater like I'm hoping Scott will."
"Where's that?" Isaac asked.
"Tuft."
"In Massachusetts?" Isaac asked wide eyed. "In the same state that Lydia will be attending MIT?"
"Uh, yeah." I admitted scratching the back of my head.
"Lydia's attending MIT?" Deaton asked.
"Early acceptance." I nodded.
"Hmmm, even more reason for you to go then. Good to know."
"It's still early and I'm still thinking about where to go. I have time. But Tuft is on my list of places to check out." I sighed.
"Does Stiles know?" Isaac asked. I winced as I shook my head. "He is going to flip. He's only now starting to adjust to you and Lydia being together. But going to separate schools…" Isaac laughed hard.
"Oh, you and Lydia finally got together." Deaton said and I nodded. "Good, I was hoping you would work that out. If you two stayed apart much longer it could have been detrimental. They call it a True Alpha Mating for a reason. A true alpha is the strongest by default, so a true alpha mating has to be just as strong."
"Wait what's a true alpha mating?" Isaac asked.
Deaton and I gave him a summarized version of what it meant.
"So that whole time you and Lydia were fighting not to be together it was because of that?"
"Only partly. The mating doesn't create feelings only a connection." Deaton explained.
"Dude, how did you do it for so long? I know how hard Allison and I fought not to be together, and we are nothing like that."
"You probably do have a connection. Wolves, all wolves, have the ability to find their mates, to form a potential connection. It wouldn't be as strong as Scott and Lydia's because you aren't a true alpha but that doesn't mean that Allison isn't your mate or could be." Deaton said. Isaac got this awed look, and a goofy grin took over.
The conversation ended and we all worked together to do closing tasks. With the place locked up we waved to Deaton as he drove off and climbed on the bike.
"Seriously dude, how did you do it? How did you fight it for so long, especially knowing what it meant?"
"Not easily, but I didn't have a choice. I couldn't lose Stiles."
We made it to the girls in under ten minutes. They greeted us at the door already in pajamas. Allison jumped Isaac as soon as he was in the door, wrapping herself around him like a monkey and gave him one hell of a hello kiss. Lydia was more subtle in her greeting, wrapping her arms around me and leaning up for a kiss.
"Hi." She smiled.
"Hi." I couldn't help grinning down at her.
"How was work?" she asked grabbing my hand and pulling me into the living room.
"It was good. Deaton wants to encourage Isaac to go to vet school. Seriously dude, he is going to keep pressing the issue now." I told Isaac as he and Allison got comfortable on the chaise. I laid across the couch and pulled Lydia down on top of me, wrapping my arms tightly around her.
"Really?" Allison asked smiling brightly at him.
"I don't know. I really have to get my grades up before I can think about college." He shrugged.
"But is that something you would want to do?" she asked.
"Maybe. But I'm not sure. I kind of like what your dad does." He admitted.
"You do?"
"Yeah."
"He would teach you; you know. If you asked him."
"Maybe I will. I like the job and happy to work with Deaton and Scott, but I don't know if it's for me and I don't think I could get into the school he wants Scott to go to and I don't think I want to go to Massachusetts."
"Massachusetts?" Lydia questioned.
"Deaton wants Scott to attend his alma mater, Tuft." Isaac explained.
I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"We really need to work on your filter, seriously." I told him, Allison giggled.
"Tuft? That's not too far from MIT." Lydia popped up smiling at me.
"I'm thinking about it. Deaton wants me to apply. He already has a letter of recommendation drawn up. He's just waiting for me to make the decision." I told her, laying her head back down on my chest.
"Does Stiles know?" Allison asked. I groaned and Isaac laughed.
"No, he doesn't. And until I decide I don't want to tell him. That means, Isaac, that you keep your mouth shut about it." I told him.
"I want no parts of that conversation. My lips are sealed."
"If only it were that easy." Allison laughed.
"I can keep a secret." He exclaimed. We all looked at him dubiously. "I can! I didn't tell Lydia about-."
"I will rip your tongue out." I growled at him. He snickered and Allison turned her head to muffle her laugh.
He was referring to this morning when I was doing chin ups and my phone rang. I lost concentration and fell to the floor then tripped over some discarded jeans scrambling to get to my phone. Isaac just happened to be walking by when it happened and just stood shocked in the doorway.
"Tell Lydia what?" she asked.
"How stupidly in love with her I am."
"You're lucky that I love hearing that too much to question you further." She said smacking my chest.
"I'm lucky period. What are you two watching?" I asked to change the subject and I happened to glance at the TV and saw vampires.
"Vampire Diaries. It was just something to pass the time while we waited for you to get here. Want to change to something else?" she asked.
"No, this is fine. I don't care what we watch." I told her tightening my arms around her, my hand slipping underneath her shirt to stroke her back.
"Are you guy's hungry?"
"No, Deaton bought us dinner. I just want to lay here and hold you for a while."
She snuggled in further and hummed contently.
Lydia:
We watched TV for a couple more hours, joking around with Allison and Isaac before retiring to our rooms, not that any of us planned to sleep. Per my request Scott was shirtless and I had no qualms about touching him as much as possible. His hand under my shirt resting on my hip told me he was feeling the same way. I think with us wasting so much time not touching each other that we were making up for it now. I wouldn't complain. I felt more at peace with this connection.
"I talked to my mom just before you got here." I told him, tracing nonsensical patterns across his chest.
"Oh yeah, that's good. Anything in particular?"
"She wants to spend the day together tomorrow. A spa day."
"Just the two of you?" he asked, tensed.
"Yeah."
He took a deep breath and his grip tightened.
"I know, but we haven't really spent much time together since all this started. And she says we can stay on the strip. Just the spa and lunch in the café next door."
"It's your mom so I don't really have a say in it, but I really don't like the idea of you being so exposed with Greenberg running around."
"I know. But I promise to text you while I'm out and let you know where I am. I really want to spend some time with my mom."
"And you should. I'll just worry until I see you again. But you should go and have fun. Catch up. I'm sure she is curious about what's been going on."
"Curious isn't even the word. Every call is a bunch of questions about you."
"Oh yeah. What kind of questions?" he asked, and I could hear the smile in his voice.
"I'm not saying. It's too embarrassing. But I expect tomorrow to be even worse. She can be relentless."
"Sounds like her daughter." He teased.
"Where do you think I got it from?"
He laughed and I loved the feel of his chest rumbling. Suddenly he stopped and groaned. I didn't even need to know why; I could just barely make out the sounds even through the closed door.
"Werewolf hearing sucks sometimes, I imagine."
"You have no idea."
"Well…" I started tossing my leg over his waist. "We could always give tit for tat."
Kissing led to touching which led to my shirt being taken off and roaming hands. Which led to us rolling over and Scott trailing kisses down my body. It led to his hands on my breast. It led to whimpers, groans, and pleads for more from me and him obliging.
"Up, up, up." I panted grabbing at his shoulders.
He indulged and then kissed more. He bit my bottom lip when I pressed up closer. I wonder if biting was a wolf thing. Probably. My hands scrambled with the drawstring on his sleep pants, but he stopped me, pulling away.
"Lydia, as much as I want to do this, and I mean I really want to." His gaze traveled down and back up slowly. "Like really want to, I don't want our first time together to be in the same house as Allison and Isaac."
I pouted up at him.
"I know. I'm sorry. But having sex in my ex's home, and another wolf nearby that can hear everything. Not how I want to remember it."
"Fine. You and your reasonable excuses." I muttered. He chuckled.
"Yeah, I know. But just because we can't do that, doesn't mean we can't do anything." He grinned wickedly. I could get used to this Scott.
Gripping my hands, he held them above my head and trailed lips and tongue down my body. I gasped and moaned. Yep, definitely could get use to this Scott.
