Chapter 6

"Wait, wait, wait_you mean to tell me that you're part dinosaur too," April curiously asked with a shocked expression lining her face, to which Diana gave her a nod:

"I am. As I mentioned to the guys earlier, I'm not sure why I was created with trace amounts of dinosaur DNA, but at this point, I don't think I want to know."

"Wow, so you're primarily composed of genes from apex predators."

"_Does that frighten you?"

"No. You seem like a pretty decent person and you haven't given any of us a reason to be afraid of you," she stated with a smile while casually picking through her lo mien. In truth, her statement brought a sense of relief to the mutant female, to which she visibly relaxed.

Picking up her chopsticks, Diana studied them for a moment before attempting to use them on a piece of teriyaki beef. Surprisingly enough, she actually managed to hold and operate them correctly after observing how everyone else used them. Upon biting into the meat, her eyes widened and she emitted a satisfied 'Mmmm' sound before taking another bite.

"I take it that the food is good," Raph asked her with a smile, to which she nodded and swallowed her bite of beef before answering:

"It is! I've never had this type of cuisine before."

"Wait, do you have any food-related allergies we should be concerned about," Donatello asked in a concerned tone, ready to go into 'Doctor Don' mode if needed.

Her pale gray eyes met his warm brown ones, to which she shook her head and gave him a reassuring look, "Thankfully, I don't." At her answer, he visibly relaxed, bringing a soft smile to her face.

"Okay, so now I have to know: where the hell did the scientists obtain the Allosaurus and Utahraptor DNA that was used to make you," April asked the mutant female, to which she shrugged:

"Heck if I know. I wasn't exactly permitted to know where my DNA specifically came from. However, I do know that my perentie and crocodile DNA was acquired from a pair of wild specimens in Australia."

"Woah_So does that mean you're an Aussie girl?"

Glancing over at the orange-clad turtle, the hybrid smiled and made a so-so gesture, "Genetically, yes, but I hold no claim to such titles as I wasn't conceived, born or raised there."

"Just out of curiosity: do you ever wish you were human," Raph asked her with a slight arch of his covered brow..

Glancing at the large, muscular mutant, she lightly shook her head, "Not really. I was never 'technically' human to begin with as my genetic makeup was carefully selected, spliced and altered before I was even an embryo. In truth, it's difficult for me to envision myself as anything other than this; however, I don't mind my appearance, nor the perks that come with being composed of multiple species."

"So, what are the perks," Leo questioned.

"Well, aside from my prehensile tail and protective retinas that allow me to see clearly underwater, I'm more resistant to bacteria, poison and venom. My bite force and teeth are also much stronger and sharper than those of a human, and if I happen to lose any of them, they grow back," she then (fully) smiled, revealing her pearly chompers. While they were somewhat similar to those of a human, she had two sets of (sharp/fang-like) canine's and only one set of bicuspids as opposed to two.

"CoOool_what else can you do," Mikey asked with a wide-eyed expression as he was completely engrossed in what she had to say. Sure, this kind of stuff was more Donnie's line of interests, but he found it fascinating nonetheless.

"I can hold my breath for an hour if needed, which also means I could theoretically withstand the increased amount of water pressure and dive further than the average human. Also, I can see clearly in the dark."

"Fascinating! You're quite an amazing specimen, Diana. I-I mean, you're already amazing, but this newfound information is on a whole other level," Donatello bashfully commented with a smile, bringing an adorable dusting of pink to her ivory cheeks. Instead of responding to him with words, she unintentionally emitted a series of soft churrs before slapping a hand over her mouth, causing everyone to stare at her in amusement.

"What the heck was that," April asked with a bemused expression lining her face.

"N-Nothing! It was nothing," she quickly responded in a slightly flustered tone, which all four turtles found absolutely adorable.

"Sure didn't sound like nothin'," Raph chuckled. Seeing the embarrassed look on her face, he then gave her a slight nudge, "Hey, don't sweat it, Pearl. We ain't gonna judge ya for makin' cute noises'."

"Yea, babe, you can make all the sweet sounds you wa-OW," Mikey yelped as Leo roughly kicked him in the shin: "Bro! What the heck was that for?!"

"You know what it was for," he answered with a disapproving look while April playfully rolled her eyes and passed the egg rolls over to Donatello, who still had a smile on his face from Diana's adorable churrs.

Upon seeing the love-struck look upon the genius turtle's face, Splinter couldn't help but smile; however, as much as it pleased him to know that he may yet see one of his sons marry and (possibly) raise a family in the near future, he opted to change the current topic and learn some more information from the young female. "If it's alright with you, my dear, I am curious to know if you were the only being that was created within the lab you originated from," he inquired while refilling his tea.

Glancing over at the old rat, Diana lightly shook her head as a small frown lined her ivory face, "No. I know there were several others besides me that resided within the premises; however, I was the only one that was genetically tailored and grown. The others started off as single species organisms that were injected with mutagen to alter their appearances, intelligence and strength. As much as I wish I could tell you more, I'm afraid that my knowledge is limited due to the fact that I was kept separate from the others."

"Why's that," Leo curiously asked, to which she lightly picked at her food and answered:

"Because they were all males and I was the only female mutant within the facility."

"Wow, so even then it was a sausage fest," April noted with a smirk, to which Diana tilted her head in confusion.

"I'm not sure what you mean. What do links of processed meat have to do with me being outnumbered by members of the opposite sex?" Following the combined snickers from all the turtles and Miss O'Neil, the young female processed the phrase for a moment before it suddenly hit her: "Oh! That's disgusting!"

*HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA*

Laughter filled the vicinity at her realization of the joke, to which she too joined in their mirth while Splinter just shook his head but internally smiled at their merriment.

Upon finishing dinner, April passed around a small box of fortune cookies, to which all the turtles took one in hand and opened them up, while Diana took an inquisitive sniff at hers before taking a bite. In doing so, she nearly consumed the fortune within:

"Why is there a piece of paper in it?"

"That's your fortune," Mikey answered. "You're supposed to read it out loud, otherwise it won't come true," he added with a smile lining his face.

"Huh. What a strange custom to put paper in something meant for eating," she noted before glancing down at the small slip of paper between her clawed fingers, to which her white, scaly cheeks turned a noticeable shade of crimson. "Uh, I-I don't think I want to read mine first. You guys go ahead."

"Alright then, April, would you care to start?"

"Sure," she gave a nod as a smile crossed her lips while she read off her fortune: "Trust those who return your acts of kindness. Respond with kinder gestures."

Splinter: "Experience is the best teacher."

Leonardo: "Make yourself necessary to someone."

Raphael: "Do not be afraid of competition."

Donatello: "Plan for many pleasures ahead."

Michelangelo: "You are talented with your hands."

Diana: "..."

"Come on, Ana, what'd your fortune say," Mikey asked the female, to which her blush visibly spread down the exposed part of her neck:

"_The love of your life is right in front of your eyes."

"Oh reEeally," he wiggled his brows and flirtatiously smiled at the female, to which Raph reached over and smacked him upside the head while April gave her a reassuring smile:

"Hey, would you like to try on some of the clothes I brought over?"

With a small sigh of relief, Diana gave the reporter a nod as she was thankful for the change of topic and distraction from her current embarrassment. "Yes please."

"Alright then." Getting up from her seat, April gathered up the bags of clothes and escorted Diana into the sick bay, while the turtles were left to clean up before returning to their preferred tasks/hobbies.
