Chapter 5: Contest of Benders

Chujin explored the Golden Wyvern, having never been on a ship before, he was eager to see the amenities the luxury ferry had to offer.

First stop was the mess hall, he wasn't particularly hungry he just wanted to see what the menu would be for later and found that it was filled with dishes that he had never heard of before but delicious sounding in name.

But what caught Chujin's eye was the final activity towards the back where a crowd of at least 20 was watching. As he got closer, what he saw fascinated him greatly. On opposite ends of each other were groups of 3 wearing what appeared to be armor similar to that of Fire Nation soldiers but one side bore armor white as snow and the other bore armor black as the night. But each group had something in common: the sashes worn around their waists. Each individual wore a different sash, one of green, another blue, and the final one red and this was the same for the opposing side.

"What's going on here?" Chujin asked aloud. Someone in the crowd responded to him, "Just watch and see friend and prepare to be amazed."

Before Chujin could ask any further questions, an individual who appeared to be a referee raised a golden fan and shouted, "Black Team ready?" The team in black got into various combat stances. "White Team ready?" The team in white got into their own stances and with both teams appearing to be ready the referee quickly waved the fan down shouting, "BEGIN!!!"

Suddenly a flurry of bending began, fire, water and earth being tossed by each side. The Black Team seemed to be in better sync with each other as their team's waterbender came to the aid of their earthbender protecting him from a blast of fire he failed to see while launching his last stone skeet, followed by their firebender throwing a volley of fire at the opposing team to buy time for his team mates to recover

The White Team on the other hand seemed to be made up of more experienced benders when each member expertly dodged the Black Teams firebenders attacks before continuing their assault with with each member attacking in rapid succession first the earthbender by launching a volley of skeets, followed by the waterbender flinging tendrils, lastly their firebender threw a series of powerful fireballs that she had taken the time to charge up.

Right before each attack could connect with their respective targets, the Black Team reacted quickly and together threw up a small defensive barrier which took the full force of the White team's combined assault. The resulting clash created a cloud of dust and steam from the water evaporating due to the immense heat and the stone shattering into thousands of pieces, which brought a few grunts and groans from the Black Team.

The White Team had eased up believing themselves the victors after a few seconds had passed without any type of response from the Black Team. A big mistake on their part when out from behind the cloud came 3 swift fireballs that they were left with no choice but to block with their arms as they were unable to summon the elements quickly enough to protect themselves. Before they could retaliate each took a hard hit from a stone skeet which was concealed by fire. First their firebender took a hit directly to the chest knocking her back, followed by their waterbender who took his skeet to the ribs putting him in front of the firebender, lastly their earthbender got hit in the hip which placed him in front of both his teammates.

As the White Team staggered to their feet clearly dazed from the assault they were not expecting, the Black Teams waterbender leaped through the cloud flinging both arms forward which brought from behind him a powerful torrent of water that slammed into the White Team's earthbender which then slammed him into the waterbender before finally hitting their firebending teammate. The torrent carried all 3 members of the White Team who came to a painful halt when they collided with the metal railing of the Golden Wyvern.

With the White Team completely incapacitated, the referee came forward raising a black fan before pointing it towards the victorious team. "WINNERS THE BLACK TEAM!!!!!" The referee declared which in turn brought a massive amount of cheers from the crowd which had grown to 50 people watching. Chujin was in pure awe over what he had witnessed, never seeing bending being conducted in a controlled and professional manner.

Author's Note: Yes!!! Finally you did it Evie you made another short chapter, you haven't done that since the first one. I wanted this chapter to be almost entirely combat focused to test the waters should I add more fights as the story continues, and what better way to do that than with a pseudo pro-bending match aboard the Golden Wyvern which I thought was fun to write and came out rather nicely. Next chapter which I teased at the end will be almost entirely smut. About 90% smut with the final 10% of the chapter being the trio having a nice conversation with the ship's captain and how it came to be in his possession.
