Isekai situations, there are plenty of ways to get isekai'd like getting hit by a truck, dying by shock of getting hit by a tractor or truck, being stuck in a virtual game, or falling in a pond,etc. My situation could be call a isekai? I don't know I am sure there are light novels with a big name which describes the whole plot. But I haven't read that of just going on your way and then suddenly waking up as yourself in another world with knowledge of yourself and the world , it sure is weird. But mine is a bit more weird because I didn't just got my memories of my self of other world with modern technology or my self of other world with more than medieval with magic and swords. But I also got my memories of the world with magic of my childhood sure sounds weird and a bit confusing. Well enough of my monologue let's focus on the present okay?
I have woken up from Emilia's lap and as I looked at her and saw her hair clip which was not hers. I mean I sure when I met her it was there but before the permafrost of Elior it belonged to someone else a person who was not mine and Emilia-tan mother, she was my aunt or that's what I called her while Emilia called her Mother Fortuna. So many questions started coming in my mind. I closed my eyes and put my right hand on my forehead thinking about what has happened as I started to process all the information that got in my head suddenly. And wonder why Puck he is glaring me like I am a Warlock or something?
"Baru you okay?" Emilia asked.
"Hm? Yeah." I replied.
"I don't think so let's go to the inn you should rest there."
"Nah, it okay its just a headache just let me sit here for a while."
"Okay" Emilia sighed and said.
"Thanks" I said with a small smile.
'Hey Kuro , you said you know who froze the Elior forest and what had happened there?' I asked to Kuro using telepathy because of our contract.
'Yeah so you have remembered everything thing?' Kuro said from my crystal bracelet.
'Yeah it seems I have remembered everything from Aunt Fortuna to Uncle Geuse and that damn women!'
'The names you have said proves it that you have remembered everything.'
"So now tell me who froze the forest after that damn Pandora teleported me in the village.'
'You sure? Even though I would like to tell you I don't think you would believe me.' Kuro said seriously.
'You are the second person I believe the most after Emilia in this world just say it okay?'
'okay it's...Emilia' Kuro said sadly.
'You are ki-kidding ri-right! There's no way it Emilia would froze the forest.'
'I am telling the truth after you got teleported Aunt Fortuna got killed by Uncle Geuse and then that woman started manipulating Emilia and then Emilia started using her magic and lose control.'
'No way! Uncle Geuse won't just kill anyone especially Aunt Fortuna!'
'Even I was surprised about that but I was unable to do anything as hole suddenly got created in her chest.'
'And what happened to Uncle Geuse?' I asked.
'He realized that what he had done as he started hurting himself and that women said something and then he suddenly started laughing maniacally. As Emilia started losing control over her magic that women who had been killed multiple times by Emilia's magic started going somewhere with Geuse. I am sorry I couldn't do anything I was just useless as ever.'
'No it's okay what's done is done it's also my fault that I couldn't protect Emilia. Well I think now we have to find Geuse and do some stuff.' Kuro remained silent.
Well I will think about that things afterwards and also about my previous shut-in life. I think that getting info about a modern world will surely help me to get the throne and then I can unfroze the elves. Yes and let's enjoy the time we have got in the Capital. It's too late to think about things I cannot undo anyway.
"HA, let's go Emilia-tan we have a long day and many things to do. Let's go!" I said.
"You sure, you are okay now?" Emilia said doubtfully.
"Of Course! I am okay." I lied with a smile.
"I know you are lying." And Emilia-tan caught me. Well living with her for about a year and some months surely she would be able to detect my lies.
"Uh..you caught me." I said with sad smile.
"If something is bothering you can tell me maybe I can help."
"Nah it's okay I will tell about that later."
"Promise?"
"I promise if I break it I will eat 100 needles."
"No you don't have to go that far but don't break it okay?" She said a smile.
"Yeah don't worry about that."
Yes Emilia I will tell you about it just when the right time comes.
"So shall we go?" I asked. "Of course."
And then we again started our exploration but still my mind is focused on something else. About that woman with platinum hair and badly made cloth I wonder if I encounter her again how I will handle her. I tried to kill her but she again reappeared like I didn't stabbed her. And I am sure that we will encounter her. I should start preparing for the worst.
But today is a special day. So I think I should be carefree. There's no studying and neither there is a clown nor maids which gives me death glare and one that berates me. What a good day and there is Emilia-Tan too whom I haven't been living for some months. I wish I could bought that shut-in loli spirit too , man that would have been great. I wish she would come out often. I will find a way to bring her out , well it's not she doesn't come out but staying in one room is pretty bad too specially if you are there for hundreds of years. Well I shouldn't sulk now lets just enjoy the day. But after regaining my memories I am happy about the fact that Emilia and I aren't siblings so that's good I can marry now if Puck doesn't kill me and I kinda sad too that my good good black hair has become silver instead of white because of snow for some reason looking at you author.
"Hey Emilia-Tan let's buy some sweets for Beako too I think she would like that." I suggested.
"That's a great idea I am sure she would like to taste some new sweets too."
"Yeah let's go to the best shop."
And thus we started going to sweets shop or maybe a bakery? As we started heading towards after asking some people who for some reason assumed that we are a couple which I am sure we will be but not yet. But now at the main topic I am feeling that someone is watching us , I don't know if Emilia is also getting the same feeling. Is it a spy or assassin or a thief? I have to careful.
And then suddenly I saw a child crying at some distance. I am sure that-
"Hey Baru don't you think that's child is lost?" Emilia-tan asked just as I expected.
"Yeah let's help her." And Emilia nodded. We started going toward's the child. Emilia approacher her.
"Are you say lost? Where are your parents?" Emilia sweetly asked. The child started tearing up I don't know if she is crying because mine and Emilia-tan appearance or maybe finally someone noticed and decided to help. Well whatever the reason I think I should help too instead of just standing there. Should I show a magic trick or show my muscles? Or show her that I can do magic nah that will definitely scare her. Ok it's decided a magic trick. I took a coin from my pouch. And-
"Here you see there is a gold coin in my hand and then I will clutch it my hand like this!" Emilia and that girl stood flabbergasted. Nobody says that anymore.
"Now watch carefully I will move my hand a bit and ." I moved my hand a bit.
"Look the coin is gone?"
Emilia's thought: (Of course you just slid it under your sleeve.)
I put my hand below her ear "Let's see where the coin is oh its here." I let the coin slide back on my palm. The girl looked impressed. "It's rare so keep it safe okay?" I handed the coin to the girl.
"Thank you Mister!" The girl said happily. Thank God she's calm now. I am glad that I learned this trick in middle school to impress my friends.
"Can you tell me your name?" Emilia said softly. "Hmm it's Plum." Plum nodded and said.
"Okay Plum this lady and I will help you to find you parents. Here you can hold my hand and this lady's so you don't get lost again." The girl happily held Emilia and my hand. Emilia who looked a bit shocked for some reason.
"Emilia what's wrong?" I asked worriedly.
"No I was wondering how good you are able to handle children."
"Well I am good for handling children for some reason." I couldn't help but remember the children from Arlam who would wipe their snot on my Identity prevention cloak.
Hah, well I was also able to handle the children very well during my previous life. One time I was waiting for my father in the park. Just sitting in the bench and seeing children play their games. And after few minutes I also joined them for some reason. Sure kids are really cute especially Emilia during our childhood well that aside just because they are cute doesn't mean they are not naughty.
I still remember when my little cousin just teased me about my scary eyes and short legs and when I scolded him a bit he just started crying loudly like I had fought him or something and then my mom scolded me very much. That smug face when I was getting scolded was still etched on my mind until I got my revenge and how I got I I'll tell you some other time. Now enough about my modern world past life and let's get in the present.
"Plum can you tell me what your father does?" Emilia asked.
"He sells fruits best in the capital." Plum happily said. Well I don't who sell the best fruits in capital. That sure is helpful. I think her father would be in the market sector.
"Okay let's go to the market sector so we can find."
We started to search Plum's parents. On the way I couldn't help but think how people would be seeing us as a happy couple and child. A blush came to my face. Still I should quickly find her parents I don't want little girl to get hurt because of us.
After walking for a few minutes.
"Mommy!' the girl went running to her mother I think who also extended her arms for hug.
"Its seems we finally found her parents."
"Yeah, I am glad." After parting ways with Plum and getting some appas from her husband. We started heading towards our destination again as we are just exploring the capital. Now I can handle the person following and spying us.
After some walking it finally happened.
A yellow blur came from behind us and took something from Emilia's pocket. I went two steps ahead before she came so there was a bit of a distance between us. Knowing what was about to happen I caught her leg and made her trip. She started moving around to free from my grasp Emilia who had noticed what had happened also came.
"Caught you. Resistance is futile. Give up." I coldly said.
"Leave me!" She was petite blonde with short hair with less clothes than it should be and red long scarf. With a canine teeth. If she wear a nice dress she will definitely look cute.
Then suddenly she quickly freed herself from my grasp by quickly increasing her speed. Maybe it's a divine protection as no person specially a child would be able to accelerate this fast unless you are Reinhard Van Astrea , The Current Sword saint.
"Vita" I said and she called again as I have used some shadow spell to increase her weight. Her weight is multiplied by 10. If she is 25 kg she is now 250 kg no way her divine protection will help that much. Even if she used her blessing she will be moving at a normal speed.
" Hey you okay I hope you aren't hurt anywhere." I crouched and said.
"Yeah says the guy who just suddenly made me fall by magic." The girl being annoyed said.
"Yeah, sorry it was rude of me but if you are able to talk than I think you are fine." Now back to topic.
Than the girl just kicked me with her left leg on my face. Well, I think I should say 'tried to' as the move was easily predictable. So I easily dodged it. While my focus was on her leg she quickly unsheathed her knife or a dagger from her back to cut my hand or to stab me so she can escape.
Before I could move my hand to catch it , another hand caught it which was Emilia's.
"You shouldn't be using the knife like that you know it can be dangerous." Emilia said in a motherly tone. I didn't know should I laugh on Emilia's casual way fo speaking to a thief who just stoled something from her or the sentence which she said. I think I should get the insignia first.
"Now can you the insignia you have stolen."
"Baru you are scaring her." Emilia said as she put her hand in my shoulder. It seems that I used my cold gaze unconsciously. A gaze that I trained myself for attackers in Elior forest. Quite convenient thing as it helps to extract information without having to threaten with magic.
"Oh sorry." I soften my eyes so they can be like usual.
"Can you please give me back my insignia it's really important." Emilia softly said.
"Thieves always are such a problem. " "Someone should call guards." "Gutter rat." Apparently the whole area were looking at us.
"Please stop making unnecessary comments and regarding what will happen to her will be decided by us as we have caught her , we will decide what we will do with her since nobody helped us." I harshly said. Sure she is from slum doesn't mean she is a gutter rat. They are re just trying to survive.
The girl seemed more scared and her eyes started to tear up.
"Hey don't be scared. Don't worry I won't give you to guards just give me back what you stole." I softly said. The girl seemed uncertain.
"Yeah don't be scared we'll give this pouch of money it is more than if you will sell it to someone." Yeah that's definitely a lie it cost more the this since it is the key for the royal selection which shows the qualification for the throne. Never expected Emilia-Tan would be able to lie this smoothly.
Emilia said as she gestured me to give my money. Wow Emilia-Tan you stole my idea out of my mind.
"Here you can have it." She moved her hand to take the pouch and giving the insignia. As She moved hand , it started glowing.
"Emi-PUCK SHIELD HER!" An ice shield formed behind our back and shielded us from the attack.
"Ahh , it seems I cannot do this in a quick way~"
A woman in black had just appeared out of nowhere. She had full black clothes and it was revealing too much than it should be. The black clothes and the curved blade of North. Yes it's definitely the bowel hunter the name given to her because of her killing style.
"EVERYONE ESCAPE FAST AS POSSIBLE!" I exclaimed as I couldn't let anyone because of our brawl. Even though everyone had started escaping.
I quickly formed my Minya gauntlets and boots.
"You shouldn't wear such revealing clothes you know you can get a cold." I said with a grin.
"Oh you shouldn't worry about me as the person who is in danger are you." The bowel hunter said.
'Subaru there's no time to flirt with a killer!' Kuro relayed the Emilia's message.
'Yeah I know I am just trying to buy time.'
While Emilia had already started preparing ice crystal. I released the shadow magic on the thief but still held her hand.
"Why are you trying to kill us we had a deal remember?!"
It seems that the girl made a deal with the bowel hunter but as soon as she was revealed to be a royal candidate she decided to kill all three of us. She was probably following us all along. She is clearly an assassin.
"Hey girl listen to me run as fast as you can if possible call a knight for help. After all this is over we will meet again. So keep the insignia with you okay and now run as fast as possible." I said as kept my hand in front of her.
The girl nodded as she had understood the situation.
"NOW RUN!"
I raised my hand and charged up the mana.
"Ul min-!" A blade was thrown really quickly. I was unable to do anything as the blade pierced the girl chest and she fell on the ground. I could only watch with horror. I slowly walked towards her. All the sounds coming from the fight between Emilia and bowel hunter seemed like background noises.
I tried to heal her nothing happened. It was useless. I knew that but still tried. Denying the fact that she is dead. I thought that the fight would end with no casualties but it happened right in front of my eye.
"YOU DAMN WOMAN IF YOU WERE TOLD TO KILL US THEN WHY DID YOU KILL THIS GIRL!"
"Oh that well even if she weren't a candidate I still would have to kill her for being the witness. She sure talked big when she took the job but she is just a gutter rat." She said like it was nothing.
"You!" I said.
"After I deal with you I wonder how three of your bowels look like?" She said while dodging a crystal from Emilia breaking the second.
"I WILL KILL YOU!" I hadn't been angered like this before except during the village incident.
"Sure" the woman said like she would enjoy it.
'Subaru calm down if you fight with anger things would get bad more. She is a skilled assassin one mistake and things will go really bad. Take a deep breath , think rationally and try think of a plan.'
It took some seconds to process Kuro's words. Yes, kuro is right. Rage will only make things worse. I took a deep breath.
' Thanks Kuro.'
'Hm, thought of a plan?'
'yeah listen and relay this to Emilia. -,okay?'
'okay, let's get started then.'
'yeah' "Ul Shamak" I said as a black smoke appeared from me covered the whole area , it was big enough to cover a whole medium house. It will null the enemy's hearing and vision. Of course, it will also null Emilia's too but it's not required anyway.
I raised my hand we both said in unison. "El Minya." 30 to 40 shadow crystal formed above my hand. As I lowered my hand all the crystal got fired towards the target at high speed.
The assassin is able to navigate towards me even with blindness and not being able to hear anything. As expected of bowel hunter.
The crystal fired towards her but she dodged it and one not being able to dodge she just slashed with her kukri blade. Well not that I expected to hit her one but if one hit of would have been a bonus.
She quickly ran towards me and got out the smoke. As she got out. I grin formed on my face.
'Emilia Now!'
"THUD!" "THUD" "THUD"
Dozens of ice crystals started raining down and even with her speed she was unable as Emilia had formed enough to decimate the whole area. Kuro quickly made a shield. I couldn't even hear ice pelting the skin nor could I see the bowel hunter.
It's finally over. Even though a strategy could be predictable and could be dodged. But I made enough reason for it would to flawlessly. As I calmed down. I asked Kuro for what had happened when I was grieving. I stood there for a minute and said to Emilia to Create a ton of ice crystals in air high above.
When Emilia was fighting Elsa she would dodge the ice crystals by climbing the walls of the buildings like a spider. So I made Emilia to make Enough ice crystals for the whole area.
Since Puck was randomly firing crystals towards her. So Puck was ready to decimate her while Emilia was preparing the crystals. By casted Shamak I corned her to come towards me to attack. While blinded. Because if even if she went towards the walls I would have shot her down. Just after casting Shamak I let one of my other shadow spirit to increase the weight of ice crystals above so if they fall down , they will fell with high velocity and shards will still damage if she survives.
I let her come outside the spell so I could confirm if she was coming to attack me or nothing. And just as she came Kuro signaled Emilia to let go of ice crystal and they rain down like artillery. Even though I wanted to give her a slow and painful death I couldn't risk it so I made it fast.
"Phew It's finally over huh.?" Emilia said as she seemed a bit tired. Well I let her fight alone and gave her a bit of worry.
"Yeah." I looked towards the girl who had died because of my carelessness. But I made sure to defend her body with ground magic from crystal.
We stood silent for a some moment to mourn for her.
"Well let's go and let's give her a proper burial" Emilia said in a sad tone.
"Yes"
"Subaru it's not over yet." Puck said.
"Huh, what do you mean?" I said with one brow up.
And then suddenly two blades clashed behind my neck. I quickly moved ahead. Apparently Kuro had just defended me with his minya sword from the blade.
'Thanks Kuro.'
'yeah' as i and Emilia both got readied for a fight again.
She isn't dead yet? What power has she? A divine protection? Still protection like would be very rare. And people don't divine protection like mayonnaise in store. I wonder how many times can she resurrect. More than 1 time would be very overpowered and rare. One would just flew if they don't see a chance to defeat and may get itself killed. But she is the bowel hunter and a sadistic woman so I don't know. Let's see then.
"So you didn't died yet huh?" I asked with a cold tone.
"No if I failed the mission the my client would be upset with me."
I said as a maniac smile appeared on my face. "That's not a good client you know. Well anyway, I have plenty of ways to kill you!"
"Murak" I muttered as my weight became lighter but still weight of gauntlets remained so I can move faster and hit harder as my elven heritage helps me lot in the physical department.
We both ran towards each other with high acceleration. The woman raised her hand to slash me. I held her hand with my left and broke it. I quickly tried to punch her abdomen with my right. She used her second blade to slash my right hand as expected so moved my hand in such a way that the blade like finger of my gauntlet would deeply scratch her. While getting a small slash i was able to damaged her as well. Now Emilia would-
Three ice crystal came with a high speed from the left which the woman quickly sprinted backward. I did the same with no difficulty as my weight had been lighted because of murak. As she started coming towards me again while dodging ice crystals and some breaking them with her blade. A shadow crystal fired and hit her on her left hand, plan complete.
I started running towards her to deal a blow. She tried to slash me with her blade but completely failed as her hand holding her blade fell of. The speciality of minya gauntlets are that if a target got a damage from it just like minya but it crystallizes it from inside. Since a minya crystal is already hit too her second hand is starting to shadow crystalize too.
Wasting no time , I punched in her face with all my strength. Just as she was about to slash me using half crystallized arm, a ice crystal hit her on her head while a minya sword stabbed her on her chest. Plan successful and target killed.
I don't even think I need to explain the plan do I.
"Well let's just kill the body shall we? Really would be a pain if she becomes a zombie." I said as fully crystallized the body.
"Yeah I completely agree." Puck said.
"Hey can you check if she is dead?" I asked Puck.
"No need to check I am still here." The woman appeared again as my focus was on the dead body. As I check the body it looked like it was completely burned.
CAN THIS WOMAN DIE ALREADY! I AM TIRED OF THIS CRAP!
"Would you like to give me another set of dance as you were just completing it just as it was getting fun." The woman said in her ever sadistic tone.
"Fine" I said in a deadpanned voice. I sprinted towards her with my usual speed.
'Emilia no need to interfere , only do it when I give a signal.' I didn't even said to relay to Emilia.
I made the first move as I was just about to do something that would be completely opposite of the request the woman gave as I would dare.
I strike with my palm at the woman, in counter she tried to slash it as my some of the glove got broken during the second brawl. Just as she slashed my hand her blade got stuck on something.
I said with with wider maniac grin. " You fell for it." A frown appeared on the woman's face.
Since I always kept two fire mana stones in my sleeve to explode something without ever thinking what the thing should be. Since it took mana to activate I could do it anytime but I made the situation like that the stone would get stuck by the blade.
The stone glowed and a ice barriers suddenly erupted from the ground. As dinosaur would come out of the water to catch it's prey from that Jurassic park movies even though some dinosaurs weren't even from the jurassic era.
I quickly got propelled backward because of my fire and wind spirit magic. The woman got caged and the stone-
"BOOOM!"
Exploded. Two stones were enough to blow as medium size room. The explosion sure would have fried her. The ice barrier cracked a bit. But didn't break.
I sighed and "Great job Emilia-Tan with the ice barrier if it weren't I would have gotten fried too." I said with a small smile thinking it is over.
"BARU do you even know how dangerous that was if my barrier broke or that woman still tried to slash you!" Emilia said with a angry face.
"Don't worry most of my injuries are healed." Since during the battle most of my wound were getting healed by Mia my water spirit. She also played a major role in calming me along side Kuro.
"I hope there arent any major injuries happened during I was frozen like a statue."
"No don't worry Puck had my back." Emilia said with smile.
"Speaking of Puck where is he?" I asked.
"Oh he is resting in his crystal say he is pretty tired." She said while looking at her crystal.
"Well thats strange normally his duty would end at 5 right?"
"Yeah , he said something was tiring him a bit. And don't sound it like it's a job." Emilia huffed.
'hey guys were you getting tired or something?' I asked.
'yeah a bit but we still held on as if you did anything risky.' some said.
Well thats true as Puck is just a useless spirit and a father anyway. He should learn something from uncle Geuse or my dad.
Just as we were having a good time. The woman suddenly appeared of nowhere and she ran towards me at a speed more higher than before.
"I WILL AT LEAST KILL YOU FOR SURE!"
"BARU!"
I instinctively tried to claw her, a sword slashed her half the body while the other sword tried to change the direction of the blade only failing and ripping the skin in a slant direction while all my spirits attacked at ones. Some ice crystals zapped at way high speed.
As I ripped her head of her body , a slash was delt at my abdomen. A gash so big that only a some part of my skin was only able to keep the body together. I fell as way too blood started coming out. My intestine were visible. It was way too big for my water spirits and Emilia too handle.
Emilia came running as she started healing me along with my water spirits.
"Baru you will be okay don't worry" Tears started coming down from Emilia-Tan's eyes.
'dammit I am sorry subaru I wasn't able to do something' Kuro said in a melancholic voice.
My started coming out of my mouth just as I was about to speak.
"Baru! Don't speak! It will be fine." Emilia-tan said as my head on was on her lap. Blood dirtying her whole dress.
"Why isn't it working."
It won't work anyway. There's no need to apologise. The only reason I am not feeling any pain is because of Emilia and water spirits. Still why haven't I fainted this much amount of blood should way enough to black out. It's way too much than 1/3 litres of blood.
"It's okay don't cry." I said in a low voice as I wiped the tear with last of my strength.
'Subaru hold on dammit'
"Subaru please don't leave me!" Emilia-Tan said as she grabbed my hand.
I closed my eyes knowing that nothing would save me anyway. Is this the price of knowing the things I shouldn't remember.
But still the only thing that was filled in my mind was regret. Regret of not being able to save a person. Regret of not being able to protect Emilia. Regret of not being able to save the people I cared about. Regret of not being able to live a life even though I had everything. Regret of not saying goodbye to my parents. And regret of not being able to confess to her.
Hey! How have you been? Well, I just wanted to say that next chapter will take way too much time compared to this. As this was uploaded a bit ago on AO3 ( I am there too with same name . The story would be uploaded at both just will take some time on one website it takes way too much time on AO3 to upload)first I could have just uploaded this the second day but I was just being lazy. Thank God I wasn't able to write that next chapter will come tomorrow or something. Since these two were already written it will take a lot of time if I don't get too lazy. Since writing this 2nd chapter took me month even though it was finished in a week. So yeah that's it. Never expected so many people would read this. Thank you for that. You can give some ideas on the fic or criticize it. I have been thinking that should I just complete arc 1 quickly or just give our baru some suffering (it's not rezero if there is no suffering, it would be another isekai.) Well that's it.
