. . . . .

A/N: Hello! Question for you guys! Do you want one chapter posted a week, or two? This story is 100% completely written, so either way is fine. One chapter a week will mean it'll take a longer time to fully upload, so more waiting time. Two chapters a week will cut that wait time in half, but there will most definitely be a lull in story chapters being uploaded. I don't have any other stories to post just yet, so after this one and 'Humanity and Heroes' are finished, that'll be it for a while.

Let me know what you think, if you want. Otherwise, I'll just continue with one chapter a week. I will probably change it to two chapters a week anyway when I have another story finished for you guys. Thank you for reading! Enjoy your day!

. . . . .

Obito fiddled with the strange white rectangular device in his hands. He thought it was Kakashi's, but it wasn't. He had a barrier summoning tracking device all of his own, for all the good it did him. He looked at the symbols drawn in a circle around the window. He couldn't read them, but his sun could.

Sunmon was a tiny orange spiky oblong sphere thing with a flame on top of its head. Though, right now it was playing the role of a doll on his hospital pillow, so the flame was out. It could read the symbols, but wouldn't tell him what they were or what they meant. So frustrating. He felt like the thing had taken all his energy. It was always so cheerful and chirpy.

He held in a hiss as his brain interpreted nerves from parts of his body that weren't there. A thick blanket wrapped around his shoulders. It stole his warmth too. He dropped the device in his lap to adjust the clasp around the blanket. He massaged his legs like Naginata had taught him. He struggled to think of them as his. To him, they were just remains. Remains of what Minato-sensei had crudely cut off and that Minato-sensei and Sunmon had burned, just for the chance to take Obito with them, without him immediately dying on the way.

He was missing his left leg up to above his knee, and almost all of his right leg. When he fell in the cave, he broke his right arm in three places. A thick cast of bandages and gauze mocked him. Shinobi who? Hokage where?

He tried to be grateful. Minato-sensei had gone through so much to get to him. To bring him back to Konohagakure. Not many shinobi were lucky enough to return home to their resting place. But for Obito, Minato-sensei took his remains from his resting place. Minato Namikaze pushed a shadow into rotting flesh, and expected it to shine as Obito Uchiha once did. Scream his name and declare lost hopes and dreams. How? Why?

He looked at all the gifts surrounding him. His grandmother had hired Gai Might of all people to bring in another table to hold all the items. Flowers, chocolate, cards, get well balloons. What for?

"Who is this?" Obito whispered.

The sun on his pillow blinked. "You're Obito Uchiha."

Obito shook his head. That too brought him pain. He stared at his one good limb. Obito Uchiha died. He knew he would, that's why he gave Kakashi Hatake his eye. He would have given both if it protected Rin in the long run. But he wanted to remember what he saw on the other side, and Kakashi still had a good eye.

"Obito Uchiha is dead." His shoulder's hunched. All he saw though, was blinding darkness, and searing flames. His shoulders shook. Tears streamed down his face. He sobbed.

The sun shone in front of him. Hovering so close, yet so far away. He looked up, trying to see it through his tears. A little flame sprouted from the sun. He reached his left hand out towards the fire. It didn't burn his hand.

Large, teary, black eyes looked back at him. "Obito Uchiha is alive. He's still got all the parts that matter most. They're all the parts I like most!"

Obito wrapped his good arm, his only remaining working limb, around the sun. He held it close to his chest. He wailed. He worked himself up into a frenzy. The sun shared its warmth with his cooling remains.

Medics crowded around him and pushed using sedatives on him until Naginata arrived and pushed them away. "Stop it. He's fine. He's fine. Let him be, you weirdos. You can't sleep all your problems away. Life doesn't work like that."

Obito slumped over the sun. The sun, which was once again, playing the role of a toy. He slumped over so far he nearly folded himself in two.

Naginata let him. He sat with Obito as he grieved all he lost yet another day.
