So, I've got a question for you: What happens when you take a society that's sexually repressed by the government and enforced by worn all citizens in Japan by government enforcement and add a hacker group infamous for taking down groups that monitor citizens' private info and exposing them? You get a Shimoneta and Watch Dogs crossover. I'll be honest, this is one of my better openings as of yet.

Ok, so some explanations. So, what is Shimoneta? It's the shortened version of "Shimoneta to lu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai". Yeah, it's quite a mouthful. Yeah, like we're wanting to say every time we watch this show, "Hey, I'm going to watch Shimoneta to lu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai." It's just a lot easier to just say Shimoneta. But anyway, this roughly translates to "A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist". In this world, a Big Brother type system exists in wearable devices mandated by the Japanese government that monitor speech to ensure citizens don't say foul or sexual language like "cunt fucker" or something like that and bracelets are worn on the wrists monitor everyone's hand movements to ensure no one's making lewd gestures or even drawings. So pretty much the entire society is Puritanical on roids where offending can be punished accordingly depending on the level of offense.

Now for Watch Dogs or Watch_Dogs depending on how you read the title on the box, it's all about hackers (whether they are ethical or not is completely up to you) that try to keep big business and government from getting their grubby hands-on personal info that they have no ethical reason for having access to. It starts with Aiden Pierce in the first game and Marcus Holliday in the second game (by the way, the second game is infinitely better than the first) as your playable protagonist anti-heroes. In the first Aiden is more of a freelance vigilante while Marcus is part of the hacker group DedSec while still both being against Blume and ctOS monitoring.

So, as you can see this is a match made in fanfiction heaven. People being monitored and as you can see many see it against their will and those that wish to at least provide them with the means to free them. It sounds like something fun to dabble inside of. So, let's get started, shall we?

I should also mention that while this idea has been floating in my head for a while, I wasn't the first person to put an idea out there. The first, from what I can see, was "Watch Dogs: SIN-surrection" by KnightSpark (id: 13295617). This has nothing to do with his idea since mine follows a different idea altogether and a different cast of characters.

Rating: T+ to M due to Anna being a pervert (among other perverts of a lesser caliber), implied nudity/sex, possible violence from DedSec members, trolling, crude humor, etc.

Disclaimer: I own only my copy of MS Word and my laptop. Watch Dogs belongs to Ubisoft and Shimoneta belongs to Hirotaka Akagi, FUNimation, and everyone that is licensed to use it. See the foreword to see the full disclaimer.

Japan, the land of the 'rising sun'. If one visited close to twenty years ago, they would have been viewing a completely different country. This was because of the 'Law for Public Order, Morals, and Childraising' which had been in effect for that time. Before the law that was considered 'deviant' to the eyes of the government was allowed to roam free and be displayed somewhat proudly. After the law was passed through the assistance and financial backing of Blume, everything that was considered deviant was expunged from society. But those that lived through what would be coined by some in Ireland as 'Japan's Troubles' remembered what was before when their daily lives weren't monitored. Those that were caught with contraband, see: sexual material of any kind were rounded up and put through harsh re-education centers. Those that didn't conform were sentenced to life in prison. Those that had even familial associations with them were marked men and women despite not doing anything. Every citizen is fitted with PeaceMakers that monitor everything they say and what motions their hands make. If it detects 'improper' language or 'improper' gestures it will alert authorities. And not your average beat cops, but jackbooted thugs that won't hesitate to kick someone's skull in, even a middle schooler's. The ruling party considers their nation one of the 'purist societies' in the world. But soon that will change.

At Tokyo International airport, a man wearing a trenchcoat and a baseball cap walked out of a terminal which brought him from Europe. The majority of the locals paid him no mind other than staring at the 'gaijin' among them. The biggest thing that stood out to them was that he wasn't wearing Peacemakers as citizens were required to. He flagged down a self-driving taxi and got in, as he did, his phone rang. He pulled out an older smartphone that looked like it had seen better days.

"I landed," he said into it as the taxi started to roll along.

"I know. Your false name was checked in. DedSec really set you up nice as a 'trusted individual' to get past Customs," the man on the other side commented.

"How else was I supposed to avoid Blume's Peacemaker tech, Kenny?" he replied.

"They have eyes and ears everywhere. Must have cost you a pretty penny."

He scoffed, "You could have put a good word in for me, would have saved me a lot more."

"You know how it is, bad blood between the Fox and DedSec."

"You'd think that they'd get over it by now, we're all on the same side."

"Well, Marcus only represents the San Francisco cell, not the rest of the world."

"What should I be expecting?" he asked as the taxi moved onto the expressway out of the airport.

"We have a contact with their ear to the ground for local unrest, however, it's pretty quiet considering that every sentence is being listened on by an algorithm. However, there's been a more recent development about a lewd female 'terrorist' going by the name Blue Snow."

"What does she do?"

"She strips down and only wears a sheet while distributing 'lewd' material to the public."

"That seems like nothing that DedSec or even myself have done."

"True, but in Japan, anything that goes against the 'Law for Public Order, Morals, and Childraising' gets those that are distributing material that goes against that law are declared to be 'terrorists'."

"Talk about culture shock."

"Ain't that the half of it, Aiden." Aiden thought it was ridiculous. Absolute Puritanism at its finest. He was neither a Hippie Free Love type nor was he a prude, but this was the free speech of an entire nation that was being suppressed, even if it was lewd. After his revenge had been had on those that had caused the death of his niece, he worked on and off with DedSec to fight against Blume and their ctOS network, a network he had direct access to thanks to an exploit; a network that the Peacemakers were used in was a permutation of, which made it easy for DedSec to create an exploit toolset for. "Your contact is a local that goes by the misnomer of 'CB'. They know who you are and will meet you after rush hour at the Shinjuku station."

"Anything I should be on the lookout for?"

"CB has protected their identity pretty well. In voice communication, they've used a voice scrambler so I have no idea if they're a dude or chick. They said that they'd message you directly before making in-person contact."

"Got it."

"Best of luck, Aiden," Kenny said before hanging up.

Aiden, the Fox of Chicago, looked out the window of the taxi as it flew down the highway at computer-controlled speeds. He had once heard of Tokyo before it became what it was from a college friend that had spent a year in high school as an exchange student; this had been a few years before the 'Puritan law', as most of the world called it, was passed. It was an interesting time, as he described. After a relatively short ride, the taxi pulled up to the curb of a station's entrance. He got out after paying with slush funds and climbed the stairs to the station. He found a seat sitting close to an exit and sat down. He was near the train platform itself.

He watched as the rush hour traffic passed without an issue. But something stood out to him near the end of the busy hour: a boy dragging a woman out of a train. "Let go of me you moron," she yelled in annoyance. Aiden wasted no time and let his phone start recording the conversation. "What's wrong with you? You ruined it!" she continued to yell. "I was going to make some serious money off of that kid!" she yelled in the other kid's face as she grabbed his collar. He continued to do nothing to provoke her.

"I knew you were a fake," he said with total clarity.

"Guards, that boy's a criminal, he touched me in a naughty place!" she yelled out as she ran away. "Stop him, he's ruining civilization!" The boy started to run.

Seeing the injustice of this faker, Aiden connected to the AV system of the subway station and blasted what he captured on the loudest volume possible. Her repeated sentence of "I was going to make some serious money off of that kid!" kept repeating over and over. The crowd slowly faced her and had faces of disgust. Aiden found her record in the ctOS database and overlaid her name it over the video. She was exposed and started to run away.

However, the goons didn't see this and continued to chase after the kid. He jumped the tracks and ended up on the other side of the station, but was surrounded by guards. His saving grace came as a woman said from above, "Did someone say 'naughty'?"

Everyone looked up to see a young woman dressed in a bedsheet with women's underwear as a mask. Everyone also seemed to have the same reaction of her identity with callouts of, "who is that?" This was interrupted by a guard yelling, "It's her! Evacuate the station now! Everyone, run! We're under attack, it's Blue Snow!"

"Pussy, cock, and balls!" she yelled at the top of her lungs.

"She's a terrorist! Run for your lives!" one guard shouted.

"Cover your ears, don't listen to her!" another guard shouted.

Aiden couldn't hear everything else over the shouting of fleeing citizens, but she threw something in the air. A bunch of somethings. Aiden caught out of the corner of his eye that it was images containing women in suggestive poses. They had tried to climb up on the rafters where she was brandishing nightsticks but stopped as she caught them in a Catch-22 situation. She leaped down and talked to the boy that was being chased, before running off which took all of the guards chasing her allowing the boy to escape unassailed. Considering the cops were already there, Aiden left the station and set up shop in a café across the street.

His phone buzzed with a text notification. [Why weren't you at the meeting point?] the message read.

[Police showed up. Blue Snow decided to make an appearance,] he texted back.

[I saw,] came the response back. [In the café across the street?]

[That obvious?]

[You're the only gaijin in several square miles, you stand out in a crowd.]

[I'll be in the corner booth,] Aiden replied.

Aiden watched the door as people came in and up to the counter and placed their orders before leaving. He just had a black coffee. It was cheap and he could leave it if needed and not feel bad about it. Minutes passed as people went up to the counter but no one approached him. Finally, a woman came in. She was college age, mid-twenties perhaps. Long black hair, petite and slim body type that was reminiscent of a swimmer or gymnast, and eyes that glinted like that of a troublemaker. She ordered something at the counter and then approached his booth.

"Fox," she greeted in a hushed tone.

"CB, I presume?" Aiden asked in turn. She nodded. "So, what's with the name 'CB'?"

"It has multiple meanings. I'm the voice of the DedSec on the radio-."

"As in a CB radio," Aiden hummed in realization.

"-but also because of my nation's most well-known plant-."

"The cherry blossoms. CB, makes sense."

"Exactly."

"How'd you break free? I couldn't have been easy."

She paused for a moment thinking her history over carefully. "Several years ago, my father and mother were convicted of Degeneracy under the Puritan Law and I never saw them again. They were tried in a closed court without any oversight and were found guilty; it was only later by looking into the trial that they weren't provided with a lawyer. They found a way to break the Peacemakers security. There was a flaw."

"A security flaw that was provided to DedSec for reverse engineering," Aiden concluded and she nodded.

"I found an old USB drive that my father had hidden in our old house. After their arrest I was allowed to live there for some time before the landlady forced me out; after all, I had no money to pay the rent. I discovered it hidden behind a Western-style door's metal hinge."

"That's an old spy tactic."

She smiled as she remembered her parents. "He was always a spy movie aficionado. He loved old Bond and Tom Clancy films and books. He even loved that Burn Notice show from a decade or so ago."

"Clancy and the showrunners of Burn Notice did a lot of research and talked about a lot of real tactics."

She nodded in agreement. "He hid as much as he could in a small space. I only found it by accident when I cleaned up my raided home. In it was a letter with instructions and some cash; not a lot, but enough to get the equipment I needed. I proceeded to break into the television station and hijacked their signal so it would get out of the country beyond the government censors."

"The hijacked satellite that DedSec got their hands on was passing in orbit that night," Aiden said in realization.

She nodded. "I uploaded it and someone responded that they would figure out a way to jailbreak my Peacemakers." She then uttered in a very quiet voice, "And they were successful." She leaned in to whisper obscenities that would make a sailor blush and nothing happened. Normally, from what Aiden read in his brief from DedSec, they would have activated alarms and lights to alert authorities as well as people around them that the wearer was a 'threat' to society. "Freedom at last. Freedom of thought as well as word and deed. That night I indulged in the freedom that was granted to me by the sacrifice of my father."

Aiden could guess what that meant considering that the entire society was a Puritanical one, but didn't say anything. "Then what happened?"

"I learned how to hack devices and use the exploit. I learned martial arts and broke into the Intelligence Center in the cover of darkness and erased my profile and changed my name with a fabricated past," she said morosely. "I look forward to the day my people are freed from this tyranny and I can take back the name I was forced to abandon."

"Every journey starts with a first step," Aiden quoted someone, he couldn't remember who it was.

"I think it's time we let the rest of my people know that DedSec is here." Her eyes gleamed with a mischievous shine.

"What did you have in mind?"

Evening.

Ayame and Tanukichi emerged from the 'hole in the wall' café that she took him to where they discussed his joining of SOX. Hesitant joining, that is. After all, all he wanted to do was lie low and meet back up with his childhood friend Anna once again to live a normal high school life. But it looked like that was completely out of the window now. Now he was going to be a lewd terrorist alongside Blue Snow. They walked into the nearest square which contained many big-screen monitors displaying 'safe' products for purchase and the news. All of a sudden, the monitors started to act up. The screens blacked out and grey concentric circles, like those found in old hypnotist attempts, appeared to emanate from the center outwards. In the center appeared a laughing, hooded skull face with the words 'DedSec' written below it in stylized text.

"Citizens of Japan," a skull masked person using a vocoder greeted. "For too long you've been controlled by corporations and your government for all aspects of your lives. Your speech has been removed and retarded to the point of infantilism." There was a visual of a skeleton hand ripping the word 'speech' out of someone's throat. "What you can say or do has been monitored and what isn't on the approved list will send you to re-education schools." The sounds of American-style sirens followed by the audio and visual of a jail door being closed over the visual of a man and woman. It was followed by a filtered version of a man being tied to a chair while his eyes were forced open by a metal contraption while another placed eyedrops in his eyes. Speech bubbles appeared over both, the tied-up man asking for it to stop while the man with the dropper saying 'conform'. Those that knew their filmography from before the law knew this as a reference to A Clockwork Orange. "You have been treated like children and not competent adults and individuals who can make their own decisions. There are those out there who have a 'Samurai Spirit' and wish to act, but cannot." The disguised individual appeared again. "To those who wish to step up and fight: don't look for us, we'll look for you. We are DedSec, we have given you the truth. Do what you will." The words 'JOIN US' appeared on the screen before the screens returned back to normal.

The entire square was dead silent to the point where a pin could be heard dropping. Then came the muttering, asking who these people were. The speaker was obviously a natural speaker of Japanese. Tanukichi saw that Ayame had some semblance of recognition of the name of the group. "Who are they?" he asked.

"They're a hacktivist organization made up of people around the world," Ayame replied. "No one knows who they are but they act as one in the solid belief of freedom of speech and freedom from oppression. But there are times when they've gone too far."

"Too far?"

"San Francisco. They were involved in multiple gunfights with authorities and private security forces which resulted in many deaths. I fear that they may try the same thing here."

To be continued…?

That's all I have for this pilot. This has been something that's been sitting on the back burner for a long time like a lot of my other pilot ideas. This one, in particular, has been around in my head (and PC) since April of 2017, yeah, so it's been a while. But hey, at least with this goddamned COVID-19 "crisis" I at least get to have more time to revisit ideas that I've had on my mind but haven't been able to sit down and actually work on.

Now, you may wonder why I used Aiden and not Marcus. Well, mainly I like Aiden's style personally and his more serious personality. It's not that I don't like Marcus, I just like Aiden. Whether or not Marcus will make an appearance is unknown since this is still in the pilot stages. What do I wish to accomplish in this fic if it continues? Well, I want SOX to interact with DedSec to free their country from social tyranny. I guess some thoughts are just how far is SOX willing to go? Will they stick to their ideals as shown in the show or will they change? Personally, I don't know but it's an interesting thought to think about.

But in the meantime, I hope all of you are staying safe whether it be in public or personal. I know that there are some dumbasses out there hoarding supplies or panic buying. Remember that being calm and rational will keep you safe, not panicking. Stay inside, play some video games, catch up on those books you've been putting off, maybe watch some YouTube. I know that I've been watching content from various creators like the Foundation for Economic Education's "Out of Frame" series and I've been thoroughly enjoying it as well as the channel Lessons in Meme Culture.

See you all in whatever I decide to do next.
