As I've built this repository, occasionally I'll throw in an idea involving a self-insert character into a story basically with the following objective: assuming I know nothing about this universe or its rules outside of daily life for the average Joe living there. Then the question comes, how do I react to the "abnormal" side of the word, the hidden side? The best example of this would be the Familiar of Zero self-insert I did. Normal life and then it is interrupted by the abnormal; in that case, the mundane swapped out for being supernaturally abducted. But what about this one? Well, a while ago, but not too long ago, I came across the Hotel Transylvania film. Specifically, the first one. I think a lot of us, especially the guys, would say that Mavis is quite the looker. She has all the appearance traits of the "hot goth girl" but also has the attitude of an upbeat person, an odd but not unwelcome combination.

I can guess that you can guess where this is going. Essentially, an OCxMavis idea. Of course, I don't want to jump into anything. After all, the movie is pretty much a character drama containing two factions (humans and monsters) not getting along, and then one of their own ends up falling for the other side. Am I going to make this into some kind of Romeo and Juliet situation? No. But, as I said, it is intended to be a character-driven drama closely following the main events of the film.

Title: I'm in love with a vampire, apparently

Summary: On summer break, James Blakenship goes to Transylvania on a whim. There, in the night, at a bonfire, he meets a girl who, while likable, hides a secret. And apparently, that secret is being a vampire.

Rating: T to T+, I don't intend to go anything further than that. Language would be the main reason as well as some lightly disturbing imagery (because horror movie monsters and the abnormality they bring). If anything goes beyond that, it would have to be near the end, assuming, of course, that this goes beyond a pilot chapter.

Disclaimer: I own nothing except my copy of MS Word and my desktop. Hotel Transylvania belongs to the Sony corporation. I only own this odd idea that I'm sure others have fantasized about well before me. See the foreword for the full disclaimers.

If anyone asked me what I wanted to do for spring break, the first thing I probably wouldn't think of is going to Transylvania of all places. It's not a bad country, don't get me wrong, but it is certainly an unorthodox destination. After all, when people think of 'spring break' destinations they think of sand, sun, and cute/hot girls in bikinis, not camping in a 'spook' filled forest having a bonfire with locals a mile or two outside of town. The people in the town were quite friendly and like to tell ghost stories as was their whole thing. The storyteller from the village just got through telling the tale of Dracula, but it was different from the way I remembered it being told. This Dracula had a missus who he loved more than life itself and after suspicion from the medieval villagers that he was a monster, they attacked it and the castle was burned to the ground. From all stories I heard, Dracula was based on Vlad the Impaler and had a major ax to grind with certain demographics in his land. It was interesting and heartbreaking.

The entire group sat around the died down bonfire taking turns telling stories. Currently, someone was attempting to tell a story about a haunted NES cartridge of Godzilla. Sure, it was a bit spooky, but seemed dumb. Most scary stories seem that way. Now Lovecraft? That shit is scary on a cosmic and existential level. I stood up and excused myself to get another beer. It was some local light brand. Kind of tasted like Coor's Light. Safe to say I do not like Coor's. What I wouldn't give for a good Irish whiskey right now. I popped off the cap by using a trick I saw online once using the table. It flew behind me and as I turned around to find my garbage, I stumbled into someone.

"Sorry," I apologized.

"That's alright," a younger sounding woman replied.

I got a good look at her. She was dressed in all black. Specifically, what looked to be a black dress with a just above the knee hem, black and white striped stockings, and white tennis shoes. She had black hair cut in a bob style and black lipstick. To top it all off, she had green eyes that pierced into the soul. "Hi," I said a little dumbfounded.

"Hey," she replied almost the same way. There was something about her. It was just something… wow. "I'm Mavis," she introduced herself.

"Kenneth, but you can call me Kenny," I reply.

"You're not from around here, are you?"

"No, I'm visiting the area for a week. Are you from here too? Your accent doesn't sound like the locals' accent."

"My father runs a hotel for m-," she seemed to catch herself, "special travelers. A few of my father's close friends aren't from here originally. I guess I just picked up on their accents as I grew up."

"I didn't see you with the rest of the locals," I subtly point towards the group.

"I'm not from the village." This raised an eyebrow on me. "The hotel my dad runs? It's more of a… remote getaway for his… clientele."

"Gotcha, one of THOSE types of places." She seemed a slight bit offended so I added, "The ritzy types. Exclusive memberships. THOSE kinds of places."

"Yeah, it is exclusive," she giggled. "What are you doing out here?"

"Camping. Our local guides said that this was a real haunted place. Currently, we're telling scary stories, if you want to join us."

She paused for a moment and really looked like she wanted to join in. "I want to, but I really should be getting back. My dad is the type of guy who worries too much."

She started to walk into the woods. "See you around?"

"Maybe," she said with a smirk before disappearing into the dense foliage.

To be continued…?

As you may have noticed, this one is much smaller than my normal uploads. There is a big reason for this. That being I can't really follow the movie path as the main guy character follows a specific path in that movie and the OC male character, I present is nothing like that guy. This would require a complete retooling of pretty much everything except established characters. Something that is no easy task without it sounding just bad. If I attempt to continue this one, it will require a lot of thought and planning. Something, that you'll know when it concerns this hobby, I am not the best at. This is all I have this time around. No real news either. See you in whatever I decide to put out next.
