Chapter 53

"And there goes another one" Neo mumbled to himself.

Then watched as yet another one of the more large buildings collapse, because of the Destroy's relentless attack on it. And everything else surrounding the enormous structure.

Frankly there was not one thing since they enter the city that was left untouched by Sting's huge lust for revenge. He especially seemed to have a nag for using the many civilians down on the street for target practice.

"Hah, look at them run! It's almost like watching a bunch of ants fleeing from their hill after one used a good stick to mess it up!" Sting yelled. Sounding very much like he had completely lost his mind.

Seriously thinking that was a messed up way, to describe what was happening below them on the street. The blond man narrowed both of his eyes in a angry manner as he once more tried to decide, if he should do something to stop all of this.

Yet before he could give it all that much thought, an all too familiar feeling suddenly shoot through him. And even though it took him a small second or two to identify the source of these emotions, he was quick to figure out what it was.

"The Freedom!" He proclaimed loudly.

Just as two red beams came flying out through the dark clouds and straight towards the enormous war machine on the ground. Which immediately used it's beam shield to defend itself from the attack.

And it was less than a second later when the white gundam came out of the clouds too, where it once more fired the plasma cannons at the Destroy.

That not surprisingly still had it's shield up to counter the two beams.

"Ahhh, this is so great, I didn't expect to run in to that guy here!" Sting shouted happily, then fired a whole bunch of beams up at the Freedom.

Seeing that Kira immediately roll to the side to evade the first three shoots. Then hurried made the ten long wings jump out, and flew straight upwards over the next large amount of beams, while at the same time firing the two rail cannons a couple of times, down at the floating fortress.

Not that the attack had much effect on the enormous war machine. Which was more then enough to make Kira bite his lower lips slightly, as he looked directly at the floating fortress for a couple of seconds.

Then slowly around the mass destruction the huge machine had caused through practically every single part of the capital. Even those few places it hadn't reached yet seemed ready to crumple up at any given time.

"Damn, did they really have to go this far?" Kira mumbled unhappily to himself. Then immediately ducked down under yet another large number of beams, that left the fortress and flew straight towards him.

But even as he was waving in and out between the many green shoots.

He did not hesitate one instant about firing the beam rifle back at the monstrosity. Feeling more then a bit annoyed, that the only thing he actually succeed in hitting on large machine was it's shield.

He did however not get long to sulk about that. Before the pilot inside that thing apparently came to the conclusion that if beams didn't work against him, missiles was an option too.

And seeing as he was so close to the huge monster, there was simply no way he had the necessary time to use the multi target lock system. So the only option he had to defend himself from the missile attack, was to slowly back away and shoot down one warhead after another.

"Maybe it was a bad decision to leave the Archangel early!" Kira said. While using the two plasma cannons to destroy the last couple of missiles.

Sincerely wondering just how much longer it would take before the Archangel and Dearka would get there.

If there was one thing he could seriously use right about now, then it was some reinforcement to help beat all of these damn Earth Forces machines and help the civilians down on the ground get to safety.

But he realized that since he had left the Archangel a half hour before they got to the city. It would without a doubt take a little while yet before everybody else would get there.

Yet before he could give his early departure from the others much thought. He was roughly reminded by the fortress or whatever it was, that now was NOT really the best of time for him to be thinking about stuff like that.

And just the sight of the ton of green beams, currently heading towards him. Instantly made him narrow both of his purple eyes slightly, while he hurried backed away from the attack, swiftly using the shield to counter the first couple of beams only to pull out the saber a second later, which he impressively used to knock away the next three shots in one fluid motion.

After that he got the Freedom up side down, where he once more fired both plasma cannons at the enemy machine. That not all that surprisingly used it's beam shield to defend itself from the attack.

But as much as that honestly bothered him, Kira of course realized that now was not really the best of time, to be complaining about it. So he just got Freedom upright again where he took aim and started firing the rifle at the fortress, trying to keep the other machine on the defensive right now.

Unfortunately that small strategy didn't really do him much good. When the alarm inside the Freedom informed him, that something was now hastily approaching from behind.

But with no idea about what it was, Kira did the only thing he could think off in such a situation, which was fly full speed straight upwards, just as a few minor attacks flew directly under the Freedom.

Yet even as he continued evading in and out between the many attacks from the front and back.

Once he got the opportunity he took a fast look at the enemy mobile suits behind him, where he saw first the Chaos gundam then a purple Windam which he instantly realized, gave him a quite well-known feeling.

"He is in that one" Kira thought out loud, then swiftly took aim after the fast moving Windam, and fired three well placed shots after it. Sincerely hoping the remove both the head and arms on the Earth Forces mobile suit.

But just when it seemed like the beams was going to do some really nasty damage, to the purple mobile suit.

Most likely prevent it from participating in the rest of the battle, the Chaos dropped down directly in front of the Windam, where it used it's shield to defend the other mobile suit from his attacks.

And that was most definitely not something Kira was happy about, he had kinda hoped that he could disable the Windam, at this early state of the battle. So it would not be necessary for either him or Dearka, to fight with Mu.

Yet when both the Chaos and the Windam began shooting violently after him. He was instantly forced to stop glaring at the green mobile suit and concentrate fully on evading every single attack they fired after him, and it did not get any easier when the monstrosity decide to help it's two comrades out.

And with so many shots heading his way, he just didn't have any time to counterattack. "Damn it all, I can't handle all of them on my own!" He cried out, while flying downward under the next large amount of beams, that kept on raining down after him.

And just the sight of how much they where making the Freedom and it's pilot squirm, was more than enough to make a small grin appear on Neo's lips. "Keep it up you two, he wouldn't be able to evade us like this for long" Neo said, while ignoring the somewhat guilty feelings that was zooming through him right now. For some reason it just felt so wrong, for him to be shooting at the Freedom like this.

But when it actually looked like, they where just about to corner the white gundam. The alarm suddenly began ringing loudly inside his mobile suit.

And it was only by share luck, that he was able to avoid the attacks from above.

Not that he had much time to be relieved over that. Before a few more attacks, was fired at him from the light blue Murasame, which had so often been fighting along side the Freedom.

So knowing that there was simply no way he could continue to chase after the Freedom, with that mobile suit around to function as backup. He swiftly roll to the side just as the Murasame started using him as target practice. Yet as the beams flew past him and slammed down into the ground, he pull out one of the kunai and throw it with full force at the Murasame.

Which instantly transformed into it's mobile armor, then used the Murasame's high maneuverability to evade the smaller weapon. It did however not go that far away from them before it transformed again and once more started shooting at him.

"Damn, the guy inside that Windam is actually pretty good" Dearka said, not having any idea about who he was currently fighting against. He just wanted to take out the purple Windam, before it could interfere in the highly brutal battle between Kira and the Chaos.

Yet being somewhat distracted by the Chaos, Kira knew that he had to hurry and tell Dearka who exactly was inside that Windam.

So while agilely maneuvring the Freedom in between two of the shots the Chaos fired at him.

Kira immediately increased the white gundam's speed, then flew with shield first directly into the front of the Chaos, thereby making the green mobile suit crashing quite hard into an already destroyed building, where it remained the next couple of seconds, not showing any kind of movement.

And seeing that his last move had apparently rattle the pilot of the quite a bit. Kira took a quick glance up at Dearka and Mu that was still fighting and shooting after each other, like there was no day tomorrow.

Yet as much as Kira sincerely wanted to interfere in that fight. He of course realized that he had a much bigger opponent to do battle against, and with that in mind he took off after the floating fortress, while telling his friend in the Orb mobile suit who he was fighting against.

"Dearka, would you please not kill the pilot of that Windam. As far as I can tell Mu is inside that machine!" Kira said loudly, then hurried evade a few beams from the fortress, while at the same time firing both rail cannons down at the monstrosity.

But as luck would have it, the only thing the male Yamato accomplished by doing that, was once more get the unpleasant opportunity to witness. Just how tough and utterly effective, the monster's defenses truly was.

That however did not slow his assault on the floating fortress down. So while swiftly evading each and every one of the attacks it fired after him. He used every given opportunity to shoot back at the enormous war machine, trying his best to make sure that he was it's primary target.

By doing that he could at the very least make sure, that it would not have the time to attack all the panicky civilians, fleeing through the city's wreaked up streets.

And just the thought about how many innocent people, this devilish thing had most likely already murderer in cold blood. Made the young Coordinator feel that much more determined to stop the damn monster before it could get any further than this.

He just had to make absolutely certain, that the enormous Earth Forces machine would never get the opportunity to do something this awful to another city. And with that in mind he swiftly roll over a minor round of beams which the stupid monster fired after him, yet while doing that he made both plasma cannons jump forward over the Freedom's shoulders.

And without hesitating even a second he fired both weapons at the round top part of the fortress.

But even after seeing the two powerful red beams, being deflect by it's highly bothersome shield. Kira kept on charging forward, firing both the plasma cannons and all of the other weapons at the fortress like machine.

Meanwhile not that far away from Kira and the monster.

Dearka was facing a bit of a problem on his own, now that he knew who he was going up against, he realized that there was no way he could kill this guy, and that of course meant that he had no other options than to disable the Windam.

Yet that proved to be a much bigger challenge than he had first expected, every time he tried to remove some of the more vital parts, on the purple mobile suit like the arms and head.

Mu would find some smooth way to get around the attacks, which actually made Dearka muttered out a few minor curses under his breath. Why the hell couldn't Mu just stay still at a time like this.

If he did that, it would be so much easier to destroy the head and arms on the Windam.

Yet just like all those other battles he had with the blond man, doing the last war. It almost seemed impossible to hit Mu. The Hawk of Endymion just kept on rushing around all over the place, making it extremely difficult to just disable the machine and not hurt the pilot.

"Damn you Mu, you are not making this easy old friend!" Dearka yelled out, while again trying to remove the head on the swift moving machine. Yet not really all that shocking the Windam just moved a tiny bit to the side so the beam flew right past it.

But before Dearka could even think about complaining about that, the purple Windam pulled out it's beam saber and thrust it out after him. Which instantaneously made the former Zaft pilot throw himself backwards, before the highly dangerous weapon could do any damage to the Murasame.

Yet when he realized that Mu was apparently determined to keep this in close combat for now, he fired both the machine guns in the Murasame's head to win himself a little time, while pulling out his own beam saber, which he immediately slammed out after his opponent so both mobile suits end up being locked together in a overly violent struggle, to overpower each other.

But as the two of them fought like that, Dearka suddenly heard a familiar voice, he hadn't heard since the battle of Jachin Due. "I know that it might be a bit too much to ask, but would you mind dying right about now?" The voice asked.

Just before the Windam broke the saber lock and backed away from him. And even though Dearka could not in anyway deny how shocked he was over hearing the blond man's voice again. He soon got something else to think about when the Windam rushed forward, and once more tried to cut his machine in two with the stupid saber.

"MU, will you stop this already don't you know who I am? Don't you realize that all of us on the Archangel, are you friends!" Dearka yelled out, while using the saber to defend himself from the blond man's assault.

Hearing the kid in the Murasame tell him all of that, Neo narrowed both of his blue eyes underneath the mask.

"I have honestly no idea about who you are kid. And I have never been on board the Archangel. So if you have to use psychic warfare like that find something better to say, than crap like that!" Neo angrily said.

Trying hard to ignore the tiny part of him, which kept on insisting that the man piloting the Murasame was actually telling him the honest truth.

So feeling more than a little bothered, by everything that had happened to him these last couple of weeks.

Both with all of those strange images, which kept on flashing through his mind. And the fact that this kid was telling him that he was suppose to know him and the rest of the Archangel's crew.

And all of these things combined, was of course more then enough, to make the confused blond man feel very, very tired but also somewhat hostile. Seeing as he just couldn't figure out what the hell he was suppose to believe in, that guy over in the Murasame or his own memories.

But the big problem with that was that he wasn't at all sure, he could trust his memories any longer, with all of those faces that kept on appearing in his mind. He really didn't know, what in the world he was suppose to do now.

Yet when his eyes landed on the Chaos gundam, that by now was up in the air fighting with three DINNs, that had apparently survived Sting's onslaught.

He decided that the only logical thing for him to do right now, was to protect the blond haired woman and try his best, to honor the promise he had made to the pilot of the Impulse.

That at least gave him somewhat of a purpose to continue fighting this battle.

So after looking at the Murasame a bit longer. He lifted the rifle and fired two shots after the blue mobile suit, that immediately rolled to the side and fired a pair of shots back at him.

"Guess I got no other choice but to disable that machine, Mu!" Dearka yelled loudly, while both mobile suits flew full speed past one another, each of them doing their best to make sure that the other one wouldn't get the upper hand in this fight.

Yet even while they where so busy shooting at each other, Neo still had one last thing to say. "Will you stop calling me Mu already? Who the hell would actually name their kid that?" The blond man angrily asked his opponent.

Who on the other hand didn't give him a answer. Dearka could of course not help but find it a little weird and confusing hearing the blond man say something like that about his own name.

And if it had been under different circumstances, he would most likely have found that odd question somewhat amusing.

Now however he seriously needed to concentrate fully on the battle, he was presently in the middle of.

000000

Yet while Kira and Dearka was trying so hard to save what was left of the city.

Murrue Ramius was watching the battle outside, with a deep unhappy frown on her forehead. The brown haired woman, was really having a tough time believing that the Earth Forces would actually build something that big and bring it into a city as populate as Berlin.

And she was absolutely sure that if her old mentor, Admiral Halberton knew what the Earth Forces was doing right now. He would most likely be turning a few times in his grave.

So once she saw Kira move a bit away from the monster she immediately shouted out one single order. "Back them up! Aim both Gottfrieds at that damn thing!" She yelled to the crew, that did not waste anytime in carrying out her orders.

All of them where after all just as keen on stopping this thing as she was.

Yet what happened next came as a shock to all of them.

The highly powerful shots flew straight at the monster, where the only thing they hit was that stupid shield. That actually had so much strength that it manage to block the otherwise vigorous attack.

"Holy crap! Those shots had next to no effect on that damn thing" Arnold shouted loudly. While keeping a close eye on the monstrosity for any signs that it was going to counter attacks.

No matter what kind of weapons that thing had. He was definitely going to make sure that the Archangel wasn't hit by any of them. There was no telling how much damage they would take, should that bastard get in a lucky hit.

And it was without a doubt best to leave the close quarters combat with that thing to Kira.

But his thoughts about how exactly they where going to beat this thing. Was soon brought to an end by the blond woman sitting next to him. "We really need to figure out a way to help those two. If it wasn't because of my...tiny predicament, I would be out there already" Cagalli said in a loud tone, while softly running her left hand over her tummy.

Yet as she was doing that, Lieutenant Amagi appeared up on the main monitor. "Lady Cagalli permit us to go in your place. We all realize that, this battle has nothing to do with Orb, but none of us wants to sit around doing nothing while this is going on" the man said in a deep serious tone, while thinking about what the beautiful city had been reduced to, because of the Earth Forces.

Looking directly at the Lieutenant for a tiny moment or two.

Cagalli finally moved her gaze away from him, then slowly looked over the Orb soldiers standing behind him. "Are you guys certain you want to do this?" She asked in a slightly bossy tone.

Which the pilots immediately shouted out their response to. "Yes Ma'am!" All of them said with a deeply determined expression plastered on their faces, which was of course more then enough to tell Cagalli, and everybody else up there. Just how much they truly wanted to help put a stop to all of this.

"I'm sure that neither Kira or Dearka, would complain much about getting some assistance. But all of you please be careful out there" she told them, sounding generally worried about their safety.

She quite honestly felt like, more than enough Orb soldiers had died through this damn war.

Instantly realizing that their kind leader was concerned about them. Pretty much all of them felt a small hint of a smile appear on their faces. "Please don't worry about us miss Cagalli, we'll just go out there and teach those bastards that this is as wrong as it can possibly be" one of the pilots said, obviously more than a little pissed off about what was happening beneath them.

Nodding slowly in understanding to that, Cagalli narrowed her eyes slightly, then said one last thing to them. "All right! But you guys have better come back uninjured from this, and that's an order" she said seriously, while each of the pilots gave her a short salute.

Then turned around and quickly left the pilot ready room, obviously heading straight for the hangar and their mobile suits.

Which meant that the only one left on the screen now, was Amagi. "I'll be up there shortly Ma'am!" He said, before cutting off the communication with the bridge.

Once gone, Cagalli did not get a whole lot of time to be concerned about her people.

Before she heard miss Murrue's voice, call out for the Valiants to be aimed at the legs on the monster. "If we do some damage to those we might just be able to slow down it's process, at least a bit!" The woman said, sincerely hoping that this little idea of her's would have some kind of effect, on that cursed thing.

000000

Meanwhile back outside.

Sting once more tried to blast a few nice holes in the Freedom gundam.

But just like the previous times he had been shooting at it, the highly bothersome mobile suit, swiftly evade in and out between the many beams only to end up firing those two cannons store underneath it hips after him, once more sending a light tremor through the Destroy.

And once that damn spaceship backing the annoying little fly up began shooting at his legs he just couldn't keep his temper under control any longer. "DAMN YOU! I'm going to squash you like a bug!" He yelled determined.

Then reached out and pressed one small button on the Destroy's control panel, which instantly started transforming the machine, into what it really was. "I'm going to kill you and everybody else in this city! That's what you get for messing with ME!" The green haired man yelled.

Not even realizing that there was simply noway, the guy in the Freedom could hear all of his boasting right now.

And when he was finally over in mobile suit mode. He immediately lifted both of the arms, and fired ten highly destructive green beams after the white mobile suit that had so foolishly dared, get in his way while he was having fun.

000000

Completely taken back at what he had been fighting all of this time.

Kira quickly dodge down under, the enormous machine's next attacks, while firing the beam rifle back at it. "Damn it all, that thing is actually a gundam" he cried out in shock.

While swiftly increasing the Freedom's speed, trying his very best to make absolutely sure, that he didn't leave himself as an easy target for the huge mobile suit.

Yet as he continued evading it's attacks he suddenly got something else to worry about when both of it's hands was dispatched from it's body. And having already been shown what kind of weapons those things had.

Kira quickly moved forward down under the right one of the hands and fired the beam rifle straight at it. Yet like the main body of the insanely large mobile suit, those things where also equipped with beam shields.

Which made them even more of a challenge to go up against. "Just how many weapons does that thing have?!" Kira asked out loud, while he hurried maneuvred the Freedom under the left hand which was coming straight at him.

Apparently the bastard inside the other gundam, was more then willing to sacrifice that weapon in a kamikaze attack against him. Yet after evading that one and firing a couple of beams back after it, he was alerted that the right one was now coming at him from the left side.

"This is really insane!" The brown haired man yelled angrily, while flying full speed upwards over the still pursuing weapon. But even as he was trying so hard to avoid probably the most savage punch in the history of man kind.

Another load of missiles left the Destroy, all them coming straight at him from the front, while the two deadly fist was approaching him hastily from behind.

"I just have to time this exactly right" the pilot whisper determinedly to himself.

Then went over into seed mode, there might be a more reasonable part of himself that had already realized that this plan was extremely risky.

But seeing as he had yet to do any real damage to the enormous machine he was going to give this overly reckless idea a try. And just when he heard Murrue call out his name as loud as humanly possible.

He hastily got the Freedom moving again, and swiftly flew up over the many warheads.

Which flew only a few short centimeters underneath his white mobile suit. Each and everyone of them hitting the left hand that had been just about to smash full speed into the back of the Freedom.

And after watching the large amount of missiles explode against the body part. He saw what remained of the hand, fall straight down towards the large river, which they had been fighting above.

Which was most definitely somewhat of a relief in the young man's mind. He really was glad to know that nobody down there would get injured, in anyway when that piece of useless crap landed.

He did however not get long to think about that before an extremely cranky voice began talking to him over the radio. "Why, you little bastard! I'm going to make you regret that. I'll show you what happens to people that gets in my way" the man said in a wicked tone.

Clearly more then a little displeased, with what Kira had made him do to the left hand. But as obvious as it was, that the lunatic was expecting some kind of response from him.

Yet the only thing Kira did was fire all of the Freedom's weapons down at the monstrosity. But just like the many other times, the highly powerful beams flew straight against the shield, which they instantly bounced right off.

Hitting the ground and a few smaller buildings in the process. But as annoying as that was, Kira didn't really get a whole lot of time to grouch about it before the huge mobile suit, throw it's arms back and fired four red beams straight at him.

Which was a pretty good remind, that now wasn't really the best of time to be sitting around thinking.

"Damn it all! How the hell, am I suppose to beat this thing?! It's almost worth than fighting the Providence" he thought out loud, while thoroughly scanning the machine for any kind of weakness.

Up until now the only thing he had been able to determined for sure was that the large machine was kinda slow, which was something he had not hesitate even a second about using to his advantage.

But even with that knowledge, he still hadn't been able to really do anything to the highly destructive mobile suit.

"Where is it? There has to be something there, that thing just can't be completely invincible" he softly muttered to himself. Before swiftly got in between four new red beams from the Destroy.

But as Kira continued flying so far above the huge gundam, he felt more than a little grateful that the Destroy could not follow him up there.

Pretty much the only thing it could do, that could even be consider flying on the Destroy part, was a float few meters above the ground, which was far from enough to get up in the same altitude as the Freedom.

Yet it quickly became clear to him, that if he strayed too far away from the stupid machine, it would once more start destroying Berlin. Which was most definitely not something he would allow to happen.

And with that in mind he rushed full speed straight down towards the mobile suit.

He did however not get very far. Before the right hand appeared in front of him, where it immediately fired all of it's weapons at him. Which instantly made the brown haired youngster decide that he might as well deal with this part, of the machine first.

So after swiftly rolling over the first four green beams. He hurried reached down and pull out the right saber which he rapidly used to knock away the next couple of shots.

And to make absolutely certain that the hand wouldn't have the time to get of anymore attacks on him.

He let both plasma cannons jump forward over the Freedom's shoulders. And without even taking the time to aim properly. He started continuously firing them at the highly dangerous body part.

Trying everything possible to throw the hand of balance. So it would not get the opportunity to shoot at him again. But even with all the red devastating beams raining down on the hand.

The psychopath piloting the black gundam, did amazingly enough still manage to fire, all of the hand's weapons at him one more time. And seeing all of the green beams coming right at him.

And after evading the shots, the male Yamato got a deep determined look in both of his eyes. As he released his grip on the Freedom's shield, then pull out the other beam saber. Seriously getting ready to transform the large hand into nothing more then trash.

So while nimbly getting in between another round of destructive beams. Kira raced full speed straight towards the damn thing. Swiftly avoiding it's next two attacks.

And once he was finally in range of the hand. Kira instantaneously swung the left saber forward, where he hit the shield as expected. Not that he paid any attention to that, it had after all been his sole intention that the left saber was suppose to function as a diversion.

So while he continued struggling against the damn shield. He slowly lifted the right beam saber and slammed it with full force down into the index finger which did not offer much resistance before he had completely removed it.

But even with that one gone he was far from finish. He just kept on pressing downwards removing one finger after another until there was only the thumb left.

And far from done coursing damage to this thing. Kira hurried moved both legs up, and place them against the hand. Then leaped full speed away, from the wreck-up body part, firing both rail cannons straight at it, making what little was left of the hand blow up far above Berlin's streets.

After that he slowly turned and looked down at the enormous machine.

Which had actually stopped destroying everything around it and was now just standing quietly down on the ground looking right back at him. Seeming very much like it was just daring for him, to come back down there. So they could continue on with their battle.

"I better hurry up before that guy runs out of patient" Kira mumbled to himself. Then without any hesitation started making his way towards the Destroy.

000000

Yet while Kira was trying so hard to stop the Destroy, and Dearka was facing of against an old friend, and the three Orb Murasames that the Archangel had launched, was doing battle with the Chaos.

A certain grey spaceship was hastily approaching the area where all of this was taking place. "Captain we are close enough to Berlin now to get a visible, I'm putting them up on the main monitor now" Meyrin said in a loud tone, while she made the image of the city appear up on the screen, showing all of them the sad remains of the city.

"Oh God this is just terrible" Arthur cried out in shock, while letting his wide spread eyes slowly move over the screen, taking in all of the destruction the Earth Forces had made to the once beautiful city.

He did however not get long to do that, before Bart's voice interrupted his thoughts quite loudly. "But this is...Captain the Freedom is currently doing battle against that monster, and the Archangel is here too!" The blond man said.

Just as the main monitor show the white and blue gundam swiftly evading in between two red shots from the Destroy, only to fire it's plasma cannons right back at it.

And just the sight of the highly powerful mobile suit fighting so hard, against the Earth Forces newest weapon. And knowing exactly what ship the Freedom gundam belonged to, Arthur slowly moved his gaze away from the screen and looked back at the Captain.

"I really don't understand what that ship is doing here, why would they try so hard to stop that thing?!" He asked more than a little confused, as he once more looked up at the main monitor.

A small part of him honestly hoping that the image up there, would somehow explain to them. What in the world the Archangel and the Freedom gundam was doing here in Berlin.

Yet pretty much the only thing he was able to figure out, was that the Archangel and her forces saw the Destroy mobile suit, and the rest of the Earth Forces, as their main enemies in this battle.

So while the deeply puzzled man continued watching as the Freedom flew up over the enormous mobile suit and started attacking it from above. The Captain let out a deep thoughtful sound, which made everybody up there look over at her.

"I guess that they really do take their job as guardian angels quite serious. It doesn't matter to them, who is calling for help they will always come swooping in like this to lend their assistance to everybody in need" the woman said.

While looking directly at the white spaceship as it fired both of it's Valiants at the Destroy, obviously trying to slow the huge machine down.

Hearing her say that, Arthur blinked a few times, as one single question he had been wondering about for quite some time now enter his mind. "But Captain if they are really so willing to help out, why don't they offer assistance to Zaft? We are after all doing everything possible to bring the war to a quick end" he asked doing next to nothing to hide just how much he would like some kind of response to this question.

Looking over at him for a couple of seconds, Talia thought hard about what he had just asked her.

"I really don't know why they prefer fighting on their own like this Arthur. Maybe they feel like they can't trust Zaft for some reason. But never mind that now, lets just concentrate on taking down that monster!" She order loudly.

Then immediately after told Meyrin to connect her to the observation deck, so she could talk with the pilots.

000000

At the same time down on the observation deck.

Nicol was slowly getting up from his seat beside Lunamaria and was just about to follow Shinn out of the room, when the Captain's face suddenly appeared up on the monitor.

"Nicol, Shinn, I need to talk with you for a moment, before you head out" she said deeply serious, while looking at the two pilots, that was soon going to enter the battle outside.

A bit taken aback, that the brown haired woman wanted to speak with them at a time such as this, both teenager moved over in front of the screen. "So what do you need to talk with us about, miss Gladys?" Nicol asked, sounding amazingly polite even under these circumstances.

Yet if one was to take a really good look at his face. They would easily have been able to tell that the green haired man, wanted this conversation over and done with in a hurry, so Shinn and him could get out there to help all of those innocent people.

"Well you see, ever since we got here we have been unable to get in contact with any of our forces station in the city, which probably means that they where all killed by that thing" Talia said seriously.

Then narrowed both of her eyes slightly, while watching the two young men. "And if that's not enough! All the enemy units present here, is currently being engaged by the Freedom and the Archangel!" The Captain explained. Not overly taken aback by the surprised looks and gasps she got from all of the pilots when they heard this news. Yet as she waited for them to take in the information she had just given them.

It was Athrun's bewildered voice, that brought the small break in the conversation to an end. "Kira" he said in a soft tone. None of them would probably have notice, if it wasn't because of the deep silence in the room.

Yet not at all interested in Athrun, or his so call best friend. Shinn took a small step closer to the screen. "But what are those bastards doing here? Haven't they caused enough trouble already?!" The dark haired teen asked loudly.

Not at all pleased with the idea of the Archangel and the Freedom, interfering in yet another one of their battles.

If somebody where to ask him, he honestly thought that those morons should just go away and mind their own business.

Especially that blond haired bitch on board that damn ship. In his eyes somebody really should send that woman straight to hell, maybe if he was a bit lucky he would get the opportunity to carry out his little plan for revenge, in this battle.

He did however not get long to daydream about that, before the Captain's next words spoil that highly wicked idea. "I honestly don't know why they are here or what their plans are. But no matter what they are up to, don't forget who the real enemies are in this battle. The only thing you two need to do is concentrate fully on taking down that huge machine" the brown haired woman explained.

Just as Nicol moved a bit closer to the screen. "Have you consider working together with the Archangel, miss Gladys? If we do that it would probably be much easier for us to resolve this situation?" The green haired man asked seriously.

Not paying any attention to all of the surprised looks, he was getting from all of his fellow mobile suit pilots. He just continued looking straight into the brown haired woman's eyes, as he waited for her to give him some sort of reply.

Yet before the Captain had enough time to think of something to say, the pilot of the Impulse made the decision to share his opinion about this subject with everybody listening to the conversation.

"There is no way in hell, I'm working together with those bastards, they where the ones who killed Heine!" The short tempered boy said sourly. Still not willing to accept the obvious truth, that it had been the blond haired girl who he cared so much about, who killed their common friend.

In his eyes it was the guy piloting the Freedom, that was to blame for Heine's death, and nobody else. Stella was an innocent victim in all of this, that had been forced into this war by that Neo bastard, and the rest of the Earth Forces.

Yet as Shinn was standing there sulking about everything he was blaming on somebody else. Talia looked at him for a small moment or two before she slowly moved her gazes back at Nicol.

"I have thought about suggesting something like that to them, Nicol. But with everything that has happened in our previous meetings with them. It would be kinda hard to suddenly work alongside them, without fear of being stabbed in the back" Talia said, while wondering slightly, if there would ever come a day where the Archangel and they would be fighting on the same side.

Nodding slowly to that, Nicol had no trouble at all understanding what the Captain meant about having some trust issues with the Archangel.

And even though there was a part of him, that was slightly tempt to tell the Captain, that there was simply noway the Archangel would betray them, should the ship agree on a temporary alliance.

Yet after thinking about it for a few seconds, he decided to keep his mouth shut.

With all this confusion about which side the Archangel was on. He frankly preferred not to get too involved with the Archangel and her crew, at this present moment in time, no matter how much he cared about all of his old friends.

And not wanting to waste anymore time in there, Nicol looked determinedly at the Captain. "Both Shinn and I will make extra sure to keep an eye on the Archangel's mobile suits, even though I highly doubt that will be necessary" the former Blitz pilot said.

Then hurried turned around and started making his way over towards the exit of the observation deck, with the gundam pilot following closely behind him.

They did however not get very far, before a certain redhead call out after one of the boys. "Good luck out there Nicol, and please do be careful" Luna said, obviously more than a little worried about Nicol's safety in this battle.

Yet as much as he would have liked to say something to show his gratification for her concerned. Unfortunately he didn't really get the opportunity to do that before the pilot of the Impulse, decided to give a few comments about her lack of concern for him.

"Hey, what about me? I'm going out there too!" He shouted displeased.

Immediately making Lunamaria turn her gaze away from Nicol and over at him, where she glared more then a little angrily at him.

"Well Shinn, if you had let me finish talking with Nicol, I might have said something nice to you too. But with your behaving like a small brat, I don't really know if I want to be concerned about you" she said, while crossing her arms in front of her chest in a angry manner.

Watching her for a brief second or two, Shinn slowly raised his right eyebrow a bit. "Wow that's really cold Luna. And here I thought you cared at least a little about my safety" he said, making it sound like her cold words had hurt him greatly.

Rolling her eyes a single time at that. The redhead let out a small yet annoyed sound. "All right already, you be careful too, Shinn. And try not to wreak-up the Impulse too badly, it would after all be nice if we could get our most powerful mobile suit back without any damage on it" she said, sounding much more cold blooded now than before.

"Damn now it's almost freezing in here. We better hurry up and go Nicol, before we turn completely to ice" the boy said, then rushed hastily out of the room to get away from the highly cranky woman.

Once gone, Lunamaria again looked over at Nicol, where her face immediately soften up quite a bit. "Please try not to do anything too crazy out there Nicol, I'm really starting to like having you as my roommate. And I honestly do not want that to change" the female pilot said in a small tone, that made it pretty clear that she would be deeply sadden, should anything bad happen to Nicol.

Giving her the most confident smile he could muster under these dire circumstances, he said a few reassuring words to her. "I'll be extra careful, when going up against that thing Luna, so I'll see you and everybody else once I get back" the green haired pilot said, then hurried turned around and made his way over to the door.

And after seeing the door fly shut behind him, the redhead just couldn't help but let out a deep sigh. "I really wish that we could go with those two" she mumbled out in a soft tone, which made both Athrun and Rey look over at her.

"Yeah tell me about it" Athrun said, while once more watching his best friend's mobile suit doing battle with the Destroy on the main screen.

Yet as he was doing that, he did not noticed the deeply thoughtful way Rey was studying him right now. 'If he can not forget about Kira Yamato, and his old friends, I fear that he wouldn't be of use to us much longer' the blond man thought unhappily.

Then took a glance over at the image of the Freedom gundam, that was still fighting with all of it's power and strength against the large machine.

000000

Yet as Shinn and Nicol was getting ready to leave the Minerva.

The blond haired woman piloting the Chaos gundam, was seriously starting to get tired of those three highly irritating Murasames, that kept on zooming hastily around her.

Each of them more than ready to attack her with their damn rifles every time the opportunity presented itself. "You stupid bastards! I hate you GUYS SO MUCH!" The girl shouted out after the three machines.

Then fired just about all of the Chaos weapons at one of the white and red transformable mobile suits. Yet before any of her attacks could hit the Murasame it swiftly rolled to the right.

Just as the two other machines, started attacking her from another direction. "Damn you! How dare you do this to ME!" She cried out loudly, then immediately found a new target to shoot at.

Not that she had anymore luck hitting this Murasame than the last one, but that surely did not prevent the extremely pissed off girl from trying.

To be continued.
