Day of Aria's Birthday

Her mind's irrational thoughts floated around in her head most of the day, it made up fake scenarios she knew probably wouldn't actually happen, but her mind didn't seem interested in being practical right now. It just so happened that school got canceled today, a pipe burst, so this was the position she took basically the entire day. Laying in the center of her bed, thinking up every possible reason Callie's sister might have to not like her.

Arizona jumped off the bed to grab her phone.

* Hey, random question, by any chance does your sister have a vengeful dislike for blondes with blue eyes that I should know about?

Callie had been hearing all of her hypotheticals for most of the week.

- Not that I know of.

- I think I remember her saying something about English teachers when she was in 9th grade though.

* Very funny. But are you sure she will like me? Should I bring a gift?

- Like I told you, she will love you.

- And Aria doesn't really like gifts, so just coming is enough.

* What time should I be there?

- Any time around six is good.

Arizona flopped back onto the bed. She still had an hour until she had to start getting ready. That still felt like a lot of time to be in her mind. She released a sigh.

Her phone vibrated again.

- If you are ready in half hour you can run an errand with me before going to the bar.

- It might distract you for a while.

* Yeah, I'll be ready.

She got up and headed to the shower.

- I'm outside.

Arizona took her bath and got dressed in record time, she started her way down the stairs to meet Callie.

"Hi." Arizona greeted as she got into the car and buckled herself in.

Her blonde curls hung loosely, stopping a little past the middle of her back. Dimples were faintly exposed as Arizona's lips were pursed together. The sun's reflection placed a sparkly glint in her eyes, only complimentary to the one they naturally possessed.

"I'm gonna have a to get a restraining order if every time I look away you're giving me stalker eyes, Calliope." Arizona poked fun when she looked up to see that Callie didn't notice her seatbelt was on.

"Sorry. I was just thinking... you look nice."

Arizona smiled, "Thank you. So where to?"

"The cake. She doesn't know I got her one, so I'll pick it up and take it to the apartment to surprise her with when we get back, if she's sober enough to remember her name."

Arizona laughed.

"Here, could you call out the directions to where I'm going?" handing over the phone, Arizona took it.

"Make another two lefts, then it's the fourth house at the bottom. It's next to a lime-green one, says you can't miss it."

They made light conversation on the way there. Recently there had been a lot more flirting between the two.

"This must be it, I'll be right back." Callie said getting out of the car.

The door to the driver's seat opened up again after a few minutes passed. "She said she needed twenty more minutes with the cake, so we could either sit here and wait, or I can drive us to get some ice-cream. That would kill some time."

"Only if there's strawberry." Arizona said excitedly.

Callie giggled at Arizona who looked like she was ready to bounce off walls, "I'm sure that can be arranged."

"Start driving then." she squealed eagerly trying to reach across and turn the key.

Callie turned it for her, "Okay, okay."

They were sitting back in the car eating their ice-cream while they waited.

"You are a strange, strange human being."

"Oh come on, it's not that weird."

"You just bit into that like it you don't have teeth!"

Grabbing the spoon in cup and lifting it to Callie's mouth, "Just try it, I promise it's not that bad."

She complied opening her mouth.

Laughter erupted through the car. Arizona tried, but failed to hold it in. She found the face Callie made when the cold hit her sensitive teeth hilarious.

"I am so sorry for laughing." Arizona said in between fits of giggles.

"It's not funny." Callie was pouting.

"Aw, I know, I'm sorry." Arizona finally regained enough composure to complete a sentence. "That face you made..." she was laughing again.

"I'm never gonna live this down now." Callie groaned.

"You'll have something about me to laugh at in no time."

"I will make sure of it."

"You seriously want to try some of mine now?" Arizona asked holding up another spoonful of her ice-cream.

Callie let Arizona feed it to her and released a satisfied sigh as it melted on her tongue.

"It's good right?"

"Yeah, it is." Callie said trying to lick some off her lips.

"You got some here." Arizona reached across with one of her napkins and wiped the corner of her mouth.

They didn't realized how close they had gotten, for a second they were staring at the other's lips.

"I better go see if the cake is ready." Callie said tearing her eyes from Arizona's to look at the clock.

Outside the Apartment

"Aria is going to kill me."

"You still have ten minutes."

"Nope. I'm pretty sure it'll take me at least that much to make room in fridge." Callie replied, getting the cake out from the backseat.

"Why don't I go up with you and help, it might not be as bad as you think."

"You said that about thirty minutes ago and my teeth almost fell out."

"You are so dramatic." she said, giving a playful nudge. "The more hands you have, the faster you'll get it done."

Arizona followed Callie up the stares to her apartment.

"I told you that would work."

After throwing out all of last weeks leftovers and trying ten different angles, the cake was in the fridge.

"Okay, you were right."

Callie's phone rang, and when she looked at the caller ID she knew Aria was ready to have her head on a platter.

"Hey." She didn't get past that. Aria's voice raised gradually with each word, making Callie's ears ring. Arizona could hear her words almost clearly from the seat at the kitchen island. Aria was ripping Callie a new one.

Arizona took this time to look around. It was cozy, not that big, but everything fit comfortably. The apartment really did scream Callie, the style of the apartment seemed to mimic her layed back personality.

"Addison... tell her I'll be there soon...I know...byeloveyou." the last part was rushed out, clicking to end the call before Aria could start again.

"So your sister is appreciative of your lateness?" Arizona was smiling, turning back to Callie.

"Definitely very understanding, she said to take all the time we need."

Arizona laughed, playing along, "Oh yeah, sounded very understanding."

"Hey, I'm gonna go the bathroom before we leave." she wanted to check that her blood sugar was still good before she left.

At the Bar

Walking towards the bar, Callie looked across and noticed Arizona push the same strand of hair behind her ear a fifth time, although it hadn't really moved. It was something she learnt that the blonde did when she was nervous.

"You nervous?"

"A little."

"Don't be. You'll have them wrapped around your finger, there's nothing not to like about you." her smile was reassuring.

"There they are." Addison pointed to the door Arizona and Callie were entering.

Going to sit by them, Callie gave an awkward lopsided smile in apology, hoping Aria had time to calm down.

Aria just gave Callie a menacing eye squint before redirecting her attention. "Hi, I'm Callie's sister Aria." she held out her hand displaying a friendly smile.

"I'm Arizona." taking the offered hand, a smile graced her face as well.

"Nice to meet you."

"And it's good to see you again, Addison." Arizona said, sending another smile her way.

"Callie hasn't shut up about you." Addison laughed when she looked across at Callie to find her trying to hide a blush.

She's been doing a lot of that since meeting Arizona, mention of the blonde was usually enough.

Arizona's cheeks matched Callie's in its redness. "If you ask my brother he'd probably say I talk about her quite a lot too."

"Why don't you get everyone drinks. We can keep Arizona entertained while you're gone." Aria suggested to her sister. Callie knew once she left they would begin their interrogation.

"I might need help carrying everything, maybe you should come with me." she was trying to keep the oncoming trivia at bay.

"Oh you'll manage." Addison dismissed with a smirk, knowing what the burnette was trying to do.

She sighed "Fine. Arizona, what would you like?"

"I'll just get whatever you are having." she said looking up.

"Beer would be okay?"

"A beer would be awesome."

She smiled at the use of the word.

"You should get food while you're up there, you know it usually goes out fast." Addison suggested.

"Yeah you're right, they have the best burgers and fries you'll ever taste." Callie saw that Arizona couldn't make up her mind on what to pick.

"I'll be having that then." she said.

"Coming right up." she turned to Aria and Addison, "And for you two?"

"We'll take the same." they said in unison.

"Call me if you need help." she whispered in the ear of her date, only half joking.

Dimples popped out as a small laugh slipped from her lips. "I will be fine Calliope."

As Arizona turned back to the table, both Addison and Aria had questioning looks.

"She let's you call her full name?" Addison asked.

"Do you do it to annoy her? Because if you do, you're already my favorite of Callie's dates." Aria said animately.

Arizona laughed. "I'll take note of that. Annoy her and the sister's heart is mine." laughing together before she continued. "But no, she never stopped me so I guessed it wasn't a problem."

"See, I told you. Smitten." Addison whispered to Aria.

"When was the last time you were on a date before Callie?" Aria was leaning in alarmingly close. An inch closer, they could brush noses.

Arizona was a little taken back by the sudden detective persona, but answered, "Not for a while."

"Why?" this question was from Addison, whose proximity became just as close.

"I was in a relatively long relationship, we broke up and a little after that I was working through some stuff."

"Any obsessed exes to be concerned about?"

"I'm not aware of any."

"Weird fetishes?"

"I like chickens?"

She got eyebrow raises from both of them.

"What are your intentions with my sister?"

"Right now we are dating, testing the waters. We're still new but I see us becoming girlfriends, I would love that actually." Arizona said dreamily. "Whatever happens after that we will take as it comes."

"How do we know we can trust you?" one after another, they were like a tag team, questions spewed left and right.

"I can't make you trust me, but I can tell you that I am enjoying the time I spend with Calliope. She is definitely special and I don't have it planned to take that for granted. All I can ask you to do is take my word." she finished sincerely.

"Ok." and just like that the friendliness was back, poker faces were put away.

It just left Arizona confused.

"Here you go." Callie rested her things on the table.

Taking her food as it was set on the table, Arizona sent up a smile to her.

"Do you want a cup to pour your drink?" placing a cup next to her.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." She smiled back.

Callie looked up suspiciously at her sister and friend while handing over their things, hoping they hadn't done anything to scare Arizona away.

Subcosciuously placing a hand on Arizona's thigh, the latina asked, "They didn't make you uncomfortable did they?"

"Nope, just a couple questions."

"Okay good." Looking down Callie only just noticed where her hand was, she looked up at Arizona to gage her reaction while retracting her hand.

"It's okay, you don't have to move it." she said with a soft smile, her hand keeping Callie's from escaping. They sat gazing into one another's eyes, a trance they always seemed to be in whenever their eyes locked.

"Do you think they remember we're here?" Addison said to Aria, both watched the interaction.

"Probably not."

They sat observing the two.

"Is everyone enjoying their food?" Callie asked trying to get the attention off them when she noticed they were being watched.

"Didn't you want anything?" Placing her hand on top of the one still resting on her thigh. Arizona noticed Callie didn't get food for herself.

"I ate before I picked you up." she brushed off.

"Are you sure? I don't mind sharing with you."

"I'll take a couple of your fries." Arizona seemed satisfied with that.

Callie put one in her mouth, she knew her sugar would probably rise by the end of the night so she made a mental note to keep an eye on it.

"So Callie says you're an English teacher."

"I am." Arizona said replying to Aria.

"You know, I didn't like my English teachers very much in school."

She wasn't sure what the tone Aria said it with exactly meant.

"Callie told me that but I didn't know she being was serious." Arizona let out a nervous laugh.

"Yeah well I definitely hated them. They had the nerve to make me read." Aria said with a laugh that told Arizona she was joking.

"What about that journal you had full of scribbles about you and that one English teacher? Mr. Clarke?" Callie could still remember all of the stories about Aria's made up happily ever afters with the teacher.

"Oh yeah! I forgot about him. He was one fine man."

"The fact that you still see nothing wrong with statement that coming from a fifteen year old baffles me. You basically stalked him." Addison chimed in.

"Shut up! You had a crush too." Aria said feigning offense.

Arizona was enjoying herself, the three of them seemed close and she was comfortable.

"Would the two of you behave?" Callie called before she was the one their embarrassing stories were about.

"We have a couple stories on Callie too if you want to hear them Arizona." Aria and Addison were beaming happily hoping to share.

"No! I mean... I'm sure Arizona doesn't want to hear that stuff." Callie nervously blurted out.

"I'd love to hear some stories." Arizona replied excitedly.

The latina's face went red. "I think I'll go get myself a water. Does anyone want a refill? Actually you know what, everyone looks like they could use another. What do you guys want?" she didn't wait for an answer. "I'll just get what you had before. Be right back." Callie rambled off rushing to the bar. She didn't want to be there for the embarrassing stories she knew were about to be shared.

Addison and Aria burst into laughter at Callie's departure and began to tell their favourite stories.

"I like her. She's nice, nice is good for you." Aria was speaking to her sister.

They had just sat to take a break from dancing.

"She's special." Aria had just heard the Arizona say the same thing, she noted the sparkle in her younger sister's eyes as she smiled in the woman's direction.

"Who would have thought, Callie Torres seeing someone." It really did surprise the older sister, Callie didn't introduce much people, but it seemed the blonde was bringing out another side of her.

"It's worth seeing where we go." she shrugged.

"Have you gotten into her pants yet?" she teased.

"Ariiiaaa." Callie groaned out. "We aren't thinking about that. When we get there, we get there."

She really was different.

"Tia called this morning to wish me happy birthday. She asked for you too." Her voice became serious.

"Oh she did? How is she?" The younger latina tried to make it sound as casual as possible.

"Call her sometimes and maybe you would know." Aria snapped.

"I'll call her soon." Callie sighed.

"What happened to calling every Sunday? She worries, you can't ignore her forever. It's been three months." Aria's tone still held seriousness but was stil soft.

"I know. I'll call her, okay?"

"You better."

They looked onto a dance floor at a very drunk Addison.

"Do you think it's time we get her?" Aria said with a chuckle.

"She can last a couple more minutes. She hasn't puked on anyone yet so I think we're good."

"Remember that when you have to clean out your backseat tonight."

"What?! I have to take her home? Why can't you do it?" Callie whined.

"Because I plan on getting laid." Aria whispered in her ear as she headed off in the direction of a seeming bachelor she exchanged glances with the entire night.

"Unbelievable." Callie mumbled to herself.

"This one is definitely a keeper Cal, I think I might steal her from you." A drunk Addison came from the dance floor pulling Arizona along.

"Whoa, How much did you have to drink?" Callie chuckled lightly as she and Arizona caught her just before she fell. "And no, you can't have Arizona." She said as she smiled toward her.

"You're no fun, you don't share anything. Meany." Addison whined drunkenly.

Arizona laughed and said to Callie, "I'll go get her some water."

"Thanks." she replied.

"Where is Aria?" Addison asked looking around.

"I think she left with a guy, so I'm on babysitting duty."

"Aw everyone is getting laid but me! And I am not a baby!" Her whining continued.

"How about we drink some water, yeah?" Pushing the bottle to her mouth before she could say anymore.

Thankfully the car ride to Addison's was vomit free.

"I'll hope for her sake school is closed tomorrow too." Arizona laughed.

Addison was practically lifted in by them.

"Yeah she's gonna have one unhappy hangover." Walking up the stares to Arizona's apartment room, came Callie's reply.

"Wow you're a big boy aren't you." as soon as they stepped through the door a very excited Great Dane greeted them almost successfully knocking Callie off her feet.

"Down!" Arizona instructed him. "I'm sorry, he has himself convinced he's a chihuahua."

"It's fine. Isn't it boy? What's your name?" she spoke as if expecting an answer, while kneeling to scratching his back.

"His name is Pop." The blonde supplied. It made her stomach flutter seeing the latina's interaction with the dog.

"Well hello Pop." looking up she said, "He's really cute."

"You can take him home with you." Arizona joked.

"I just might." Callie told the dog as she got up and he trotted into the kitchen.

"He's probably hungry. Come on, we can sit in there." Arizona said heading after Pop.

Once they were on the stools Callie started talking. "You have a real easter basket theme going on in here." she teased.

"Hey! You're the one living in a bat cave." she teased back.

"Well I never." Callie's hand over her heart in mock appal.

They both laughed.

"Aria and Addie have been trying to redecorated it since I moved in."

"They seem to care about you a lot." Arizona said.

"They do, but I think it intimidates some people."

"Tim and Teddy are the same way, the intentions are good though."

Callie laughed nervously, "I kinda wish you didn't tell me that."

"They might let you survive." the blonde said airily.

"Might?! Arizona!" she shreeked.

"You should have heard your voice just now."

Callie tried her best to keep the stern look on her face, but the blonde's laugh caused a smile to appear. "Come here." She yelled grabbing the blonde and tickling her. "You think it's funny huh?"

"No! No! It's not! I promise! Calliopppeee, please!" Arizona screamed trying to squirm free.

"What? I don't think I heard that." she played.

"Okay Okay! It's not funny!" Arizona said breathlessly through tickle induced laughter.

"That's what I thought." Callie whispered.

Somewhere in the playful wrestling, faces closed in on each other, lips now almost touching.

"Yeah." Came Arizona's still breathy reply.

Resistance yielded and soon enough lips connected, the heated kiss only broke to come up for breath, their lungs begging for air again.

Chests rising and falling, heavy breaths filled the room's relative silence, their foreheads held contact as they caught their breaths, eyes closed taking in the moment to full capacity. Callie's hands held the back of her neck, Arizona's took her cheeks.

"That was... " a look of awe was plastered on her face. "Your lips are really soft."

Arizona smiled as she spoke. "Yours are too. And yeah... that was... wow."

Lips collided again, this time hands wandered, soft muffled moans escaped.

Somewhere along the way they landed on the couch, Arizona laying almost completely on top of Callie, but their lips never lost contact as hands continued to linger and travel the lengths of both their bodies.

"Callie..."

*Author's note*

Here's chapter 7, how do you feel about it?

I'm kinda trying to ease Callie and Arizona out of the shyness as they get to know one another better.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I had some stuff I was dealing with.
