Monday
"Because I don't know her." Teddy said stubbornly while getting up and walking off into the kitchen to check on the food. They were spending the evening together at Teddy's.
Arizona followed right behind her. "That's the point of going! How are you going to start to trust someone you haven't even given a chance?" She raised her voice a little.
They had been at it for a while now, Arizona trying to convince Teddy to open her mind to least giving the benefit of the doubt before making a judgement. She seemed to need a lot of persuading into the idea of meeting Callie.
She sighed finally figuring that she probably was going to be poked until she agreed. "When is it?"
"I had to ask you first. And a little more enthusiasm would be nice."
Teddy gave a forced smile. "Better?"
"Teddy, Seriously? I'm getting tired of your attitude. I'm seeing someone I genuinely like, after you, might I add, have been nagging me to do for months and now you aren't even giving that person a chance, that isn't fair." It came out disappointingly.
"But..." she stopped to think through how she wanted to word it. "I don't want you to have another Shay. Everything was going good until it wasn't. You were together for three years and that wasn't enough to say to her it was a committed relationship. I don't want to see my friend hurt again because she trusted someone and it backfired." Teddy said sincerely. The details of Arizona's last relationship wasn't something they talked about.
"Well Callie isn't... her." She still couldn't get out the name. "Give her a chance and you'd know that. Please." Arizona pleaded.
She nodded. "I'll try." her face turned up to showcase a smile. "When were you going to tell me the two of you knocked boots?"
Arizona's eyes widened. "How'd you know!?"
"It's the glow." She said in a singsong tone. "Was it good? No, forget I asked that, your face says it all. How many times did you guys do it?" Teddy was living for the look on her bestfriend's face.
Arizona's face began to heat up at the memory of how she and the burnette closed their night.
"It's weird you are so invested in my sex life." she finally answered with the tease when she realised she didn't say anything.
"I would've gotten a taste of it last week anyway if I had let you go on." She tried hard to keep in the laughter bubbling up. Arizona was the butt of all their jokes when Teddy shared the story with Tim.
"So was it everything you expected?" Teddy noted the sparkle in her eyes. Deep down she wanted to believe the blonde was in good hands.
"And more. The fireworks were definitely there." She had a big smile on her face.
"Now I'm jealous." Teddy joked and Arizona stuck her tongue.
The Next Day
Arizona finally found a park bench she could sit on to catch her breath. "You said you do this three times a week?" she asked in between pants.
"Try to." Callie sat next her. "I don't always get up early enough. I drive over hear sometimes just to sit though." It was a jog from Callie's apartment to a nearby park.
"I think I'd prefer the driving." Arizona laughed.
"You can come with me next time."
Their relationship on a steady pace forward. They had taken up doing some of their regular routines together recently which is why Arizona chose to join Callie.
Arizona's eyes caught the time on her watch. "Shit."
Callie looked in her direction smirking. "The English teacher curses." she teased.
"Shut up." she playfully nudged her shoulder. "School starts in two hours and we have to run aaallll the way back to the apartment." she dropped her head on Callie's shoulder dramatically.
"It's hardly twenty minutes back." Callie laughed at the look she got. "How about I get you a donut on the way to work."
"Your bribery can only get you so far, but I will take that donut."
"You know you can't resist." she gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Come on, if we want to get to work on time we have to head back."
"Ugh." Arizona groaned before getting up off the bench.
After they stopped at Arizona's apartment so she could get ready and picked her up a donut, they were on the way to school.
"Since I took on your torture this morning, you get to do something of my choice." The blonde quipped with a grin.
"Oh yeah? And what would that be."
"A book reading. On Thursdays at the library they have an open floor for small authors to share their books."
"Okay, that's doable." Callie looked up from the road into the blue eyes. "What time should I be there?"
Arizona gave her a blank stare for a while. "Really? That easy?"
Callie looked at her confused. "Should it be hard?"
"I... " She shook her head pushing past her thoughts. "Never mind. It's at 6 o'clock. The library across the street from that bar we went to for Aria's birthday."
She was still getting a strange look from Callie, but the burnette didn't ask any questions. "I'll be there then."
Arizona just smiled and answered softly, "Okay."
In her previous relationship, going to the library with her was almost like a chore. Most times she just went on her own.
They pulled up to the school just as the bell rang, going separate ways to their classes after saying goodbye.
"Where did you get all of these from?" Addison asked excitedly.
"The book store a few blocks down. She seems grumpy, but once you get the lady at the desk talking about a good romance novel, she'll lead you right to her secret stash. Don't tell anyone I said that." They were talking about the books Addison was going through on the book shelf in Arizona's office.
"I knew it! I always knew there were some hiding somewhere. She always shows me the same row of books everytime I go there. That hogger!" Addison said animately.
Arizona laughed, "There's always a secret stash of the good ones in the back, it took me a while to get her to crack though."
"I'd bet, she's scary."
The two formed somewhat of a friendship working together and bonding over equal love for some of the same genre of books.
"You can take them with you if you wanted."
"Really? Thank you so much." Addison said enthusiasticly.
"It's no problem." Arizona yelled to a deeply engrossed Addison who practically ran out with the books.
"What's up her?" Callie was almost knocked down in the process of her leaving. She came in and sat on the blonde's desk watching while she continued going through the shelf.
"I gave her some Sci-fi books I had in here."
"Makes sense, her nose will probably be stuck in those for weeks."
The bell rang out for lunch to begin.
"You going down? Or do you wanna eat here? I can just bring my lunch when I come back up."
The English teacher nodded. "We'll eat in here."
Callie headed back down the stairs promising a quick return.
They sat on the desk making conversation while they ate, when something in particular drew her attention to Callie's bag.
"What are those?" she saw them before while being at the burnette's house but assumed it was the other sister's.
Callie stopped mid chew looking in the direction of Arizona's eyes. "Medications." she said casually, but knew by the glare she got, that the down play wasn't going to work. "Amaryl."
Arizona wasn't entirely sure what exactly it did or what it was for, but she had heard of it. She took a deep breath before asking, "It's yours?" just for confirmation.
Callie nodded.
"What is-"
"Excuse me, Ms. Robbins? Could you help me with something?" a student came in stopping her before she got out her full question.
"Uh, yeah Robbie, give me a sec." She looked into dark eyes for a moment then got up to she pack the remains of her lunch and rested the bag on the desk so she could aid the student, leaving the P.E. teacher to finish her lunch alone.
Callie tried reading the expression on her face to figure out how the blonde felt but came up with nothing.
The period after lunch approached before the conversation was revisited and Callie left with Arizona still distracted by the student.
*Author's Note*
This chapter is a bit short but another one should be coming this week.
How is the story going so far for everyone?
And I'd just like to say I am thankful for the reviews that get left after the chapters.
