Tuesday Night

Arizona!" Teddy came through the apartment door with a pizza. "I come bearing gifts... well a gift but a very delicious one." she held the pizza up with a cheesy grin hoping she could lighten her bestfriend's mood. She was surprised when she got a call from Callie on Sunday. She was definitely warming up to the idea of the latina but they weren't exactly friends.

"Hey." A genuine smile came across her face as she sat up from her position on the couch.

"I brought something for us to eat, I figured you didn't make anything based on what Callie told me. I called you back but you didn't answer so I thought why not just stop by. "How are you?" Teddy knew what was going on. She suggested Arizona talk to someone a while ago but the blonde swore she had it under control but it seemed like she was starting to struggle again.

"Fine and you?" it came out in a flat tone trying to say it wasn't an area she wanted to discuss. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Tim would give you a much harder time than me, so pick your poison." Teddy said with a raised eyebrow.

"I think. All the time. It's dehabilatating, my mind keeps me up every night and everything else just adds to that. It's so hard to turn off my brain and sometimes I literally feel trapped in it. It's hard to get out of bed most days recently because I dread every second of interacting with people because there's this nagging in my mind telling me that they can see right through me. It's tiring and almost crippling Teddy." tears were now falling freely down her face.

Teddy looked at her empathetically. "I'm sorry sorry this is happening to you sweetie." They were now hugging, quiet sniffles escaping Arizona occasionally.

Once the blonde had calmed a bit they broke the hug, there was a period of silence while she wiped her face of the dried tear marks.

"I'm sorry for crying on you, I didn't mean to. I've been a wreck recently." she gave an embarrassed half hearted smile.

"Do you think it's time to try talking to someone." Arizona began shaking her head in disagreement. "Arizona, you've been like this on and off now for a year since the relationship. I think it's time to talk to someone before things get out of hand." She was being stern but tried to also let her know it was coming from a place of concern. "Do you remember a few months back you damn near had a panic attack? That shouldn't be happening."

"I told you I was just a little stressed, it hasn't happened since." She was quick with her rebuttal.

Teddy sighed, that wasn't normal behaviour from her bestfriend and she knew it but Arizona was set on making it out as nothing. "It seemed like more than ''a little" stressed to me but just think about it, ok?"

Arizona just let out a sigh.

"Someone told me you had a big project coming up, your doing a big book thing for some kids from schools in Seattle?" a good subject change, she knew the other blonde could talk about this forever.

"Timothy Robbins cannot keep a secret." she pretended to be angry. "But yh, it's just a thought but I'm soooo excited!!"

"Tell me about it." She genuinely did care but right now she was just glad the subject was changed.

They both took up a slice of pizza as Teddy chattered on about her plans, giving every ounce of detail she could.

Saturday

"Hey."

"Hey." Callie waited for her to buckle the seat belt. "You set?"

Arizona smiled before saying, "Yeah, but where are we going?!" Callie had refused to tell her exactly what they were going to do.

"Se paciente hermosa. You'll find out soon enough."

"Ouuu! What does that mean?"

The burnette's only response was a smile before turning out of the parking lot.

Callie figured she could distract Arizona at least for a couple hours.

"Is this spot good enough?"

"Yeah it's good." the blonde said while she took the blanket to spread on the grass. "What did you bring in the basket?"

"A feast!" she said with a huge grin as she unpacked the food. "I tried to bring all of you favourite stuff."

"Nectarines! How did you know?!"

"Well you eat at least three at lunch so... wild guess?" Callie said feigning a pure coincidence.

Arizona gave her an endearing squint.

"What?" Callie asked releasing a chickle at the blonde's expression. "Tell me I'm wrong."

She just blushed in response.

"Now!" The burnette rubbed her hands together before giving a huge smile eyeing all of the food spread out on the blanket. "Shall we begin?"

"With pleasure."

"How's it coming basketball team? You've been pretty busy with them the entire week."

"They're doing pretty well actually, I can see the improvement everyday. Some of them are still new to it but they definitely learn quickly. They lost their first game so they were pretty bummed but it shows they care and thats something." Her voice held a sense of pride. "Remember the kid Ava that I'm trying to get on the team?"

Arizona nodded.

"I have a meeting with her parents this week. They didn't seem too pleased."

"Why wouldn't they be?"

"Practice finished a little later than usual on Thursday so by the time i got her home her parents were already there, it turned into a whole thing and i tried to explain the situation but they weren't having it. I guess they made a complaint because Principle Brown spoke to me yesterday and said there needed to be a meeting."

Arizona held her hand, it seemed like she was trying to play out all of the possible scenarios. "It's ok, just say what you feel from the heart and go from there."

"They'll probably make sure she never steps foot on a court again." She could tell the coach had a lot of belief in the girl's ability.

"Just see how the meeting goes first, ok?"

Callie nodded.

"But how has your week been? You said you wanted to be done with the syllabus soon, how's that going?"

"Well the kids definitely aren't happy about having to spend their weekend reading three chapters but we should be finished by the end of next week then its smooth sailing."

Arizona thought about if she should disclose on how she was feeling, she knew Callie was refraining from asking although she was curious.

"I slept a little better last night, I felt calmer after you called. Thank you."

"Happy to help." Callie gave a cheesy smile. "I brought dessert if you're interested." she opened up the small cooler that had a tub of ice cream sitting at the bottom among the drinks they had brought.

"No way that was always in there!" Arizona opened it in amazement at finding her favourite ice cream inside. A brand she only mentioned once to Callie. "You Ms. Torres are a very sneaky sneak."

Author's Note

I wanted this chapter to end a little light hearted since I didn't want to flood it with too much stuff all at once. But I'll warn you, the next chapter may be a little heavier.
