Author's Note: This was a good chapter to write. I especially liked the exchange between Eret and Bright. I hope you enjoy it as well, dear readers! This is an improved version of the third chapter from the first draft. Enjoy the reading!

andreamassocco98: Thank you for seeing the improvement on the previous chapter. As for Luna's age, she is six years old (two years older than Bright). He is able to ride Luna, even with basic lessons from their father Flashwing. I have an image in the work that shows what Bright is wearing (in case you wanna know, it's the cover image for this book). Hope you enjoy the ride through this adventure!

Chapter 2: Not Alone

Bright and Luna were flying across the sky of the Barbaric Archipelago, while staying close in sight of the Dragon Nest's heavy fog around the island. Bright was excited to have an outside adventure with his sister, who was equally excited. "So, sis. Where should we go?" Bright was looking forward to having the adventure with Luna going, and he certainly would not miss any of it.

"I thought that maybe we could try and search for new Dragons," she suggested. Her wings flapped as she felt the breeze of winds clashing with her face, causing her to smile in relief. Luna was happy to be out in the open, as she had been in the Nest for six years without much open area. She knew that the Nest was her place to stay, but she couldn't help herself to look around outside to see if she and her brother could find anything new and exciting.

"Sure," Bright nodded, and Luna flew to the left, outside of the fog. As they were flying across some rocky obstacles, small islands in the water, Bright looked around, in case he spotted anything with the looks of a Dragon. He would be overjoyed to find someone of his species, too. He was alone in the Nest with the rest of the Dragons under Alpha Scales' watchful eyes.

"Be careful of outsiders," was what Scales told him one day, "They are dangerous humans who wish nothing but bloodshed, and they are killers who want Dragon scales for their entertainment."

Bright understood the Alpha's message and remained cautious of any outsider who were looking for the Nest. Bright knew little of human language, so it would be hard for him to communicate with the humans. If he was to be captured by their traps, he would be in trouble.

"Bright, I see something," Luna said, catching his attention as they looked with their draconic eyes toward a longboat which was sailing. The boat was slow in the water of the ocean. "Remember what the Alpha told us?"

"Avoid any outsider who wishes nothing but capture our Dragons," Bright nodded, but as he did, he noticed a net being fired toward them. "Look out!" he shouted.

Luna flew to the side, barely avoiding the net. However, a couple more nets were fired at her, and she kept her best in avoiding them, but at last, one managed to capture her, and she was immediately falling to the ground of a small island, while Bright screamed loudly with what sounded like a Light Fury call. He hoped their parents would hear his call.

Luna landed with a harsh thud on the island ground, which threw Bright off her back, and the longboat sailed toward the island. They looked at each other in fright as a plank came out from the side of the longboat and a muscular looking man stepped down from the plank. He had a smirk on his face as he looked at Luna and Bright.

"Who is this?" he asked one crew member who looked surprised at the human boy. The man wore an apparel which was covered mostly in fur. He had beefy arms with scars. He spotted a light blue tattoo on his chin, and he had dark brown hair, with two bangs draped in front of his ears.

"He looks to be a human, sir Eret."

The man, now named Eret, frowned. "A human riding a Dragon. What absurd fantasy is this? There is no such thing as that." He turned to Bright and cleared his throat. "Forgive me. Let me introduce myself. I am Eret, son of Eret. The finest Dragon Trapper of this age. I suspect you were accidentally caught by our nets, boy. I apologize for the inconvenience."

Bright tried to speak his language, but all that came out was a small warble.

"I'm sorry, what was that?" Eret asked, holding his ear as he leaned in closer to the boy. He couldn't hear anything aside from the warble the boy had made.

"Set us free!" Bright demanded, but his draconic growl was the only thing they heard.

"I can't hear you except those strange noises, boy," Eret sighed. "But this Dragon—it's a Light Fury, correct?"

Bright immediately shook his head. He was afraid they would have them onboard their longboat.

"Don't try to deceive me, boy," Eret smiled strangely. "I can clearly see it is a Light Fury. Looks like we've got ourselves a fine catch, men." He turned to his cheerful crew. His laughter joined in his excited crew members.

Luna's ears perked up as Eret lowered himself down to her height.

"The boss will be most pleased to see you, Dragon. He is the greatest commander of this age," Eret added. "You will soon see the true nature of us humans. As for you, boy. You will be locked up in case you try to call for anyone close by."

Bright looked frightened at his words. Eret noticed this, but he quickly shook his head.

"Come, men. Let's lock 'em up!" commanded Eret to his crew.

The crewmen saluted to their leader. They went over to the boy and took him by the arm, Luna growled threateningly, but she was silenced by a knife from Eret.

"Don't try anything nasty, little one. We wouldn't want your so-called friend hurt, would we?"

Luna lowered her head in sadness as she was carried by two men from the group.

Once they were onboard, the one man who held Bright threw the boy in the cage and locked the cell door. Bright turned and ran over to the bars. "Come on! Set us free!" he said. However all that the guards heard was soft growling.

"Be a good boy and keep yourself quiet!" said one guard, stepping threateningly closer to the cell. "You wouldn't want us to hurt your Dragon friend, would you?"

Bright fell silent. The guard walked away from his cell. When they were out of earshot, Bright grumbled something under his breath, "I hope Mom and Dad are coming…" He was afraid they might not take this kindly to the humans who had captured him and Luna. All he could do was pray for their parents to arrive.

Eret laughed heartily with his crewmen who were full, and were drunk who laughed while tossing some of the drinks to the other members of the crew. "What a great day for us! A Dragon captured, along with a boy from who knows where," Eret said. "I'd say that the boss will be pleased to know we've captured a Light Fury for his army. Let's toast to our success!"

His men cheered with him as they continued drinking themselves until they fell down from the chairs, drunken. Eret looked displeased with his men's antics, but he nonetheless drank some of his tea.

Soon they were finished, as Eret looked at his drunken men, who were on the floor of the diner room of the longboat. He shook his head before leaving for the outdoors.

Once he was out to the fresh air, Eret leaned on the side of the ship. This is perfect for me. I might get some reward for getting my boss a Light Fury dragon. I wonder who that kid is? He only made noises, like a Dragon! What nonsense is this? No human can understand Dragons! His mind was absent with the thoughts directed to the boy who was put in the cell. I wonder what his name is? Certainly not Blue-eye. Or Brown-haired child. Why don't I find out myself?

With that in mind, Eret turned from the ocean and went to the cells. He made his way to the human kid, who was startled upon hearing his footsteps in the prison room. "Forgive me for startling you, kid," Eret said.

The kid knew he was lying, given his fake smile.

"I would like to know your name," continued Eret. "May I know what it is?" Hopefully this will make my acquaintance with the boy become better.

The kid tried communicating with him, but all he heard was soft growls, grunts, and warbles.

"I can't understand that," Eret reminded him. "Don't you know how to speak Norse?" He was certain the boy knew Norse.

The kid shook his head.

"Huh. Interesting," Eret mumbled. "Do you know how to write?"

Again, another shake of the kid's head.

"Look," continued Eret, "if you want to get out, I will be more than pleased to get your name. What is it? Blue-eye?"

The kid took a step back, shaking his head.

"Bjorn?"

Another head shake.

"Light?"

Once more, a head shake.

"I'm at a loss, kid," Eret sighed. "What is your name?"

The kid simply pointed to the light.

"It has got something to do with 'light', correct?"

A nod.

"Brightness?" guessed Eret, seeing the room brighten up with the light outside the cell.

The kid made a movement with his hand, pointing to the brightness and the light from outside.

"Bright…Light?" Eret asked.

A smile appeared on the kid's face.

"So, your name is Bright-Light? What a strange name for a human," Eret commented. I had no clue that this kid was named "Bright-Light". What a very strange name indeed.

Bright's throat rumbled in dragon tongue, as if humored.

"Were you just laughing at me now?" Eret looked serious. He did not take anyone who laughed at him kindly. He moved his hand down to his belt, but soon paused.

Bright realized his bad impression and made his eyes look puppy-like.

"I see you're apologizing, that's good," Eret said with a small smile on his face. "So, Bright. How did you end up out here with the Light Fury?"

Bright made some gestures with his hands.

"Siblings?" Eret frowned. "That's absurd. No human can be a sibling to Dragons, much less a Light Fury."

Bright glared at him.

"Can't talk Norse, can you?" Why do I repeat myself? Stupid Eret. He cannot speak human!

Bright shook his head.

"All right," Eret sighed, shrugging his shoulders. "This might be strange, given that I, one of the finest Dragon Trappers alive, will help a kid to learn how to speak human. Well, as long as you're happy, it's good, I guess."

Bright smiled, pleased.

"Eret! A message from the boss's messenger!" called a crewman.

Eret looked up, then at Bright until he sighed for the second time. "I will keep in touch, okay?" He always promises those who are at his side that he would be with them.

Bright nodded.

Eret turned and walked out of the prison room to the shipdeck. "What is it?" he asked his crewman, who nodded to the messenger. A piece of rolled parchment was given to Eret, who unfolded it. He read the text on the parchment, and then looked at the messenger. "I shall do it."

"Then my work here is done," said the man before walking away and onto the plank of a second ship which had sailed to them.

Eret looked at his men. "What are you waiting for? Get back to work!" He couldn't give them time for a break, as he was their crew leader.

"Uh…Eret?" one man started to say.

"What?" Eret glared at the man who had spoken.

The man pointed up in the sky, and they soon noticed multiple flying objects coming towards them. Only they weren't objects.

Eret locked his eyes at them, widening in shock. Dragons! This must be my lucky day! He immediately went over to a catapult, only for it to be exploded to splinters by dragon fire from a Monstrous Nightmare. Eret was flung backwards by the explosion. He grunted in pain from the fall.

"Man the ship!" one of the men shouted.

"Keep it steady!" commanded Eret, standing up. "We are going to capture as many of them as possible!" He wasn't going to let them get too close to the ship. He went over to a catapult, and he fired at a Monstrous Nightmare, but the dragon dodged the boulder that was thrown at it.

A Deadly Nadder launched her tail spikes down toward them, and they barely jumped away. A couple of Light Furies screeched loudly.

Bright blinked his eyes as his ears picked up the sound of a Light Fury's screech. His parents and the Alpha were here! Just then, in his happiness, a Gronckle broke through the wall behind him with her bulky body.

"Are you all right, Bright?" the Gronckle asked.

"I am now," Bright smiled. "We've got to find Luna!" he realized. He was worried for his sister.

"Don't worry. One of the Monstrous Nightmares found her," the Gronckle reassured him. "Get on. We don't have much time."

Bright nodded and got on her back as she flapped her wings and flew out of the prison cell. He noticed Eret looking up at him with fury in his eyes. He expected the man to be enraged at him once he found out about who he was.

"I knew something was odd about you!" he shouted upward to Bright.

Bright couldn't communicate with him, so he kept silent as he and the Gronckle flew away from the longboat with the other Dragons. They left the longboat behind in silence.

Flashwing, the Light Fury moving closer to him, was one Bright easily recognized. "I told you not to go far away from the Nest!" he scolded harshly. "And by doing that, you were captured, Luna as well. What were you thinking?!"

Bright lowered his head in shame, as they flew back to the Dragon Nest, away from the humans' longboat and into the heavy fog that appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

Eret looked at where the Dragons disappeared and he closed his palm into a fist. That kid was different from us! I knew I shouldn't have put my trust in him the moment he was captured! Now this happens! The Light Fury got away. Just great. One day, I am going to recapture you, Bright. Just wait until then.

Bright sat down on his rump as Lightwing glared at him with her scolding look. He knew he was in trouble for putting him and Luna in danger. He was given the lecture he didn't like from his mother.

"Bright, for the love of the…" she started. "Why did you fly so far away from the Nest? You know that those humans were a bad thing from the beginning, didn't you?"

"Sorry, Mom…but that man…" Bright began, but she interrupted him by raising a paw. He went silent by the gesture.

"No excuses. You will be put into grounding for three weeks after putting Luna and yourself in danger! What would you have done if she was killed? Well?!" Lightwing gave a low growl at that moment.

Bright looked away, ashamed. He stood and walked away from Lightwing, who softened.

"Bright, wait…" But he was already gone by the time she tried to speak.

Bright walked out on the beachfront of the Nest and kicked sand up with his foot. This is stupid! I should have been more careful! Why ground me for something that's already been taken care of? Why should I not care a thing for realizing my dumb mistake?! His frustration grew as he gave a loud yell of anger.

"Bright…?"

Bright glared at the one who spoke, but softened his expression as he saw Luna standing a few yards from him. "Sister…"

"Why are you so angry, Bright? You know that it was a small mistake on going so close to them," Luna started.

"Oh. Now you're trying to scold me too, sis?" Bright frowned.

"That's not what I am trying to do!" Luna countered. "I am only trying to make up for the day we've been through!"

Bright huffed, turning away from her.

Luna realized it. "Oh, I see it now. You want to be alone. That's fine. It's not like that you'll ever need me anymore, now that you found out about your own species." She turned and walked away from him, sadness in her eyes as tears fell.

Bright sighed in frustration. "This isn't helping…" he told no one. "Why should this have happened? Tell me, God! Why do I have to be made to suffer like this?!"

No one answered his rage. Not a sound, nor a word.

Bright grunted. He walked back into the Nest, but he made sure to keep his distance from his family as they rested for the night.
