Author's Note: Here we are, at the fourth part of the movie arc. This one is focusing mostly on the bonding scene between Hiccup and Toothless, while his friendship with Bright grows. And is it just me, or are these movie parts the exact same length? Hmm...

andreamassocco98: Yeah. Bright's inner blood showed itself, prompting him to defend his friend from the Gronckle. Glad you liked it.

Chapter 7: Bonding

Bright was following behind Hiccup to the scene of the crime, where Hiccup knelt down and picked up the iron balls of the bola. "Do you regret it?"

"Regret what?"

"Shooting down that Night Fury?"

Hiccup thought for a moment. "Yeah. I think after it stared—and I looked back in its eyes—I could feel something from it. Like, something of a feeling I'm guilty about."

"He did lose a tailfin from the shot," Bright stated.

"How'd you know?"

"I noticed his tail, one tailfin was missing."

Hiccup looked to the ground, sighing. "Look, I'm sorry for grounding him. I guess it was my stubbornness as a Viking that triggered me to shoot him down."

Bright placed a comforting hand on his friend's shoulder. "What do you say we find the Night Fury? I'd bet he is with my sister by this point."

"Isn't she afraid of dragons?" Hiccup asked.

Bright chuckled fondly at him. "You'd be surprised. Come on." He turned to the direction of the cove and walked from the area, with Hiccup following him.

"So, what's your sister like?"

"She has an adventurous side, she likes flying, fish, and she likes family," Bright explained.

"Wait…flying? Fish?" Hiccup widened his eyes in realization.

Bright nodded, and they were soon at the entrance to the cove. He smelt his sister by sniffing with his nose.

Hiccup saw him sniff the air, and looked at him in surprise. He really is like a dragon! He noticed Bright climbing down the cliffside and soon followed his friend down below to the ground of the cove.

"Why are we here, Bright?" Hiccup asked.

"My sister is here," was all he said. He gave off a whistle.

Hiccup gasped, putting his hands on Bright's mouth. "What are you doing?! The Night Fury will hear you! I saw him fly in this direction!"

"Relax," Bright said, removing his hands from his mouth.

A white blur pounced him at that moment, causing Hiccup to jump back in retaliation. "Bright!" he gasped in shock, but soon his expression turned into confusion.

A white Night Fury was licking Bright's face, covering him in drool.

"Happy to see you too, sis!" Bright laughed.

Hiccup stared at them for a second. Then it hit him. "Your sister is a Night Fury?!"

"Light Fury," Bright corrected.

"Light Fury?" Hiccup repeated.

The Light Fury looked at Hiccup in wonder, and then at Bright. "Sis, meet Hiccup—the one friend I've told you about. Hiccup, meet Luna the Light Fury, my sister."

Hiccup stood there, frozen as Luna approached in a calm manner. Soon he saw her blue eyes looking directly into his forest green eyes. "Uh…nice to meet you, I guess…" he greeted uncertainty.

Luna smiled, but once she saw Toothless moving in from behind Hiccup, who was unaware of the Night Fury, her smile grew.

"Uh, what's behind me?" Hiccup asked Bright, who simply pointed with an index finger. Hiccup turned, and he screamed while the Night Fury jumped at him, pinning him to the ground.

Toothless was growling at Hiccup, who was panicking with his heart beating.

"So, found yourself a mate, huh, Luna?" Bright teased.

Luna blushed. "It isn't like that! We've only met!"

Hiccup looked between all three of them hastily, eyes darting around in confusion. "Can you get off me, please?"

The Night Fury snorted, smoke coming from his nostrils. "I won't forgive you for grounding me, human."

"Toothless, the boy means no harm," Luna warbled. "Look at how weak he is! Do you really think he has the intention to hurt you?"

Toothless looked at her, then at Hiccup, whose scrawny and gangly appearance made it into his head. Then he released the boy, who shakily accepted Bright's offered hand.

"Thank you," Hiccup gasped.

Bright only smiled.

"However, if you harm her, I won't forgive you so easily," Toothless growled at Hiccup. "I don't want her to be grounded as well."

"Oh, would you stop threatening him?" Bright rolled his eyes. "He regretted it, okay? Can you get over it, Toothless?"

Toothless looked at him in surprise, before relaxing, his eyes becoming square.

"I…I've never been this up close to dragons before," Hiccup admitted. "Well…except the dragon training we had been to, Bright. They truly are amazing creatures."

Bright nodded in agreement at his last statement. "If only you could see mine and Luna's parents. They'd love to see us having a new friend."

"Are you sure?" Luna softly warbled. "I don't think they'd take it as kindly as I have, brother."

Toothless let her word 'brother' sink in. "Wait…this human beside the scrawny kid…he's your brother?!"

Luna smiled and laughed heartily. "Did you find out just now, dear Toothless?"

Toothless was looking away from her, a small flush on his cheeks.

Bright chuckled. "It's okay, Toothless."

"Toothless?" Hiccup echoed. "Why is a dragon's name Toothless?"

Toothless took it offended, snarling at him. "That's no reason for a human named Hiccup to know! Why name a human hiccup?" He laughed in response.

"Did he just laugh at me?" Hiccup pointed accusingly at Toothless.

"Well, yeah," Bright nodded. "He asked the same thing about why you were called a hiccup for being human."

Hiccup took it personally. "Oh, is that the best you got, Toothless?" He smirked at the dragon. "Tell me, why do you have teeth? I thought if you were toothless, you wouldn't have teeth."

Toothless grinned, retracting his teeth at that moment unnoticed by him and opened his mouth. Hiccup looked surprised.

"Wait, where'd the teeth go?" Hiccup asked, looking at the dragon's mouth.

"Retractable teeth," Bright answered.

Hiccup stared at his friend, bewilderment surprised. "What?!"

Luna giggled at his reaction.

"Does she have retractable teeth, too?" Hiccup pointed at the Light Fury.

"No."

Hiccup blinked.

Soon, Toothless left the three and walked over to the pond, where he tried catching fish with his jaws, but the fish proved too fast for him. He growled irritably.

Luna noticed his struggle. "Oh, Toothless…"

Bright saw Hiccup widening his eyes in realization. Then the boy turned and left them in the cove.

"Where's he going?" Luna asked, pointing a stubby claw to Hiccup, who climbed out of the cove.

"Probably back to town," Bright shrugged. He looked pitiful at Toothless. "It's not fun being unable to catch anything without that tailfin, huh, Toothless?"

"No," he answered with a whine.

Not an hour later, Hiccup returned by walking in between some rocks with a shield. His shield was locked between the boulders and he crawled under it. He revealed a fish to Toothless, who noticed it and stared at him with curiosity.

Hiccup stepped quietly closer to the Night Fury, dropping the fish near his paws. "I thought…you'd like something to eat?" he asked nervously.

Bright smiled at the generous offer his friend was giving.

Toothless leaned forward, but stopped his advancement to the fish after noticing some shiny object behind Hiccup's vest.

Hiccup saw this. "Oh." He rested his hand over the knife, but Toothless growled at him. "It's okay. It's okay." He took the knife and dropped it to the ground, kicking it away with his foot.

Toothless sat down in surprise. "Why's he being so careful?"

"He's trying to earn your trust," Bright answered with a warble.

"Your dragon noises are still strange to me, Bright," Hiccup commented, before seeing the fish eaten by Toothless. Not long after, he began crawling toward the boy. "Oh, sorry. I don't have any more," he whispered.

Toothless' stomach began making noises as he threw the remains of the fish, half-eaten, up and it landed near Hiccup's feet.

Bright looked at it with a disgusted look, same did Luna.

Hiccup held the fish in his hands, and looked at Toothless, who looked down at the fish. Hiccup couldn't believe it. He slowly took a single bite of the fish, nodding to Toothless, who made a gulp gesture. Hiccup stared at him, disbelief written over his face before he finally gulped the piece in his mouth.

Hiccup made a disgusted face. "Ugh. I'm never tasting this again…"

Toothless gave him a smile. When Hiccup tried reaching his hand up to touch him, the Night Fury growled and moved away from him and to a different area of the cove. He lit up the ground with dragon fire and lay down comfortably.

Bright looked at Luna, who looked back. "I think they're bonding."

She nodded. "I think so, too."

They looked back to Toothless, who had noticed Hiccup close to him on the ground, but Toothless moved away once more, while Hiccup moved in the opposite direction, back to Bright.

"I think you're off to a good start," Bright commented.

"Of what?"

"A friendship."

Hiccup looked toward Toothless, who was resting near a boulder. "I believe that I am," he admitted.

Later in the evening, Hiccup and Bright were still in the cove, while Luna was watching Hiccup drawing something in the sand. It was the face of Toothless, and she nudged him.

"You like what I draw, huh?"

Luna nodded.

Hiccup looked at Bright. "You know, Bright? Dragons truly are amazing, as I stated before. I think they're not as mindless as we Vikings thought of them."

"I'm glad you realize it now," Bright smiled, pleased.

Soon they felt Toothless between them. He was staring at the drawing of him made by Hiccup, while Bright had drawn Luna next to Hiccup's drawing.

The Furies couldn't help but blush in response.

"Are they in love?" Hiccup asked, noticing their red faces.

"I believe so," Bright chuckled.

"We're not!" Luna protested. "We've only met!"

"Still, sis. You are infatuated by him," Bright chuckled. "Admit it."

Luna shook her head.

"What did she say?" Hiccup wondered.

"That she only met Toothless recently, but I am disagreeing with her," Bright replied. "It's like they're lifelong partners of romance."

"Ugh, mushy stuff," Hiccup groaned.

Bright had to hold his mouth with a hand, so as to not laugh at Hiccup's reaction. "What? My sister has been looking for a mate."

The dragons glanced at each other by what Bright was telling the boy.

"Stop teasing us, Bright!" Luna said. "Or else I'll tell mother and father!"

"You do that, but they will agree with me you've been feeling lonely all these years," Bright continued his tease, chuckling.

Luna tackled him, surprising Toothless and Hiccup. "Oh? And what, baby brother? Are you going to expose me to our parents once they find out about this island and that you've been trying to hurt dragons?"

"Is that really the best you got?" Bright asked. He scratched his sister's neck, earning delightful purrs before hitting a spot that made her fall on him. "Ugh," he groaned. "I shouldn't have done that…"

"Bright, are you all right?" Hiccup asked worryingly, approaching.

"I'm fine," Bright grunted, hearing Luna's happy panting. "But once I hit the exact spot of the neck, she falls into a state where her mind is happy."

Hiccup stared at Luna's body. "Huh. This could be useful," he noted.

Bright tried pushing Luna off him, but he was unable to. "Would you mind helping me, Hiccup?" he grunted. "I can't do this alone."

"Uh, sure thing, Bright," Hiccup nodded and helped his friend by pushing Luna to the side while Bright was pushing from below her. With the help of Toothless, they managed to get her off Bright.

"What'd you do?" Toothless asked, checking up on Luna.

"Nothing too serious. I only scratched her into a delightful state," Bright responded.

"I see. So, she wasn't hurt?"

"Nope."

Toothless looked relieved.

"Bright, we need to get back," Hiccup started to say. "I think the others might suspect where we are."

"Yeah, you're right," Bright agreed with a nod. "Let's go back to town." He patted Luna's belly, which prompted a purr from her to escape.

Soon Bright and Hiccup climbed out of the cove and headed back to town.
