Harry looked around and saw that he was in the Hospital Wing. He tried to move his muscles and groaned as he could feel the cramps in some parts of them. The overall exhaustion, all added up to magical exhaustion. A door opened and the Professors Flitwick and Dumbledore came in coming straight for his bed while the Matron was looking on critically.
"Well Mister Potter, you gave us quite the scare." Albus Dumbledore opened the conversation with his grandfatherly smile. Flitwick just nodded while Harry try to come up with some kind of answer, that would not tell everything but enough.
"I did, did I? How long was I out?" He answered with a rasped voice as Flitwick conjured a glass of water and levitated it to him which he took with a grateful smile and sipped on it.
"Well, Mister Potter, Whatever magic you did knocked you out with a severe case of exhaustion for three days. So you can understand that we, are very interested to hear from you how you ended up exhausted with a dead mountain troll on the second floor right outside of the girl's bathroom." Dumbledore still had his grandfatherly smile while Flitwick looked a bit intrigued.
Harry placed the empty glass on his bedside table. "Understandable Professors, I will not beat around the bush. I am a Parselmouth, we are looking into my family history and how I could have inherited that trait as a British magician at the moment, So I would kindly ask you to not spread that information. With the History in Britain, it would not lead to many pleasant conversations I assume."
Dumbledore nodded not really looking shocked while Flitwick took over.
"With the Dark Lord one of the last known ones I can follow you there Mister Potter. I also approve of your inquisitive thinking as to how you got that ability. Even if you may find some problems there if I recall the Potters' way of handling Family Abilities."
Harry nodded shortly. "Yeah, at the moment it looks like I inherited that from my mothers' side. I also, after some research am a strong fighter for the there is no muggleborn just a resurfacing of magical heritage. But I can't say that I have enough empirical data to get that based on enough hard facts."
Flitwick nodded approvingly while Dumbledore picked up his thoughts.
"Or maybe you got that trait from your scar. Curse Scars can lead to some anomalies."
Dumbledore looked at the scar noticing it halfway to completely vanishing frowning a bit.
"I can understand where you are coming from headmaster but I can ensure you, that I had professionals look at that scar. It is handled and we are very sure that the ability did not come from an external source. Luckily the census of mundane people is way better than in the magical world so at the moment we are looking at the Evans family tree. The only thing coming from my scar was a strong magical residue that had been handled by a specialist." Harry had not even had to fake his exhaustion, something picked up by the Matron in an instant.
"I think you had your talk with Mister Potter. If he used some spells based in the Tongue of the Snakes, snake bites on his adversary are not much surprising. My Patient needs to rest now. You can ask him further questions later." To say that Harry was grateful that the Matron looked like she was cutting his interrogation short was not far-fetched. Looking at Madame Pomfrey's stern look he was not surprised that both Professors left after wishing him a quick recovery. The Matron put up some privacy curtains and after giving him the so to say order to sleep left him alone. Harry remembered the feeling shortly before falling unconscious and looked at his pants to the side. Luckily his magic already responded normally as he levitated the pants to him to pull a golden Key with parchment around it out of his pocket.
Unrolling the Parchment he read.
Greetings Brave one,
if you can read this you are eligible for my name and title and managed to pass one of my tests. You proved that you don't hold back if you want to save fellow students even if you have to look into the eyes of certain death. Take this first of three keys with my blessing and hopes that you can finish the rest of the trials.
G.G
Shortly after he read the last letter, the parchment just disintegrated or better vanished. Harry called for Hedwig in his mind who swooped into the wing minutes later without much problem thanks to her silent flying technique. He gave her the key to put into his warded room and relaxed as he looked after her. It looked like Hogwarts would not be as boring as he had thought. He closed his eyes again and rested.
Harry had slept for another two hours only to be woken up by Hedwigs hooting. She had a Letter in her beak and put it on the table. Harry mentally thanked her and petted her shortly.
Opening the Letter from Andromeda he had to frown shortly after reading the first paragraph.
Hello Harry,
I investigated Sirius' case as far as I could. It looked like there never was something resembling a trial in the first place. Unfortunately, I get stonewalled with our covered approach. Someone in the ministry is trying to block my investigations. The Good thing because we both want to stay anonymous, this third party can't know why or who is investigating. That's also a bad thing. I can't find out who blocks us here. Without knowing who is responsible I can't really do anything at the moment.
I contacted your other "aunt" and she mentioned that I should look into the old laws of the wizard council.
I think that she hinted at your peerage status in the kingdom. Thinking about it maybe she refers to the Statue of Secrecy for Britain where the Sovereign of Great Britain gave the council a certain amount of autonomy.
I will look into that matter.
I hope your classmates treat you well and If not you deal with them as I told you. Dora sends her love.
I will keep you up to date.
Andromeda.
Harry had to sigh. After they had found out he was a possible Heir for the Black Family and had enough indication that Sirius may be innocent he asked Andromeda to investigate after she won the lawsuit against the publisher of the "The Boy Who Lived Adventure" books she started investigating. That even with her network of unseen helpers she got stonewalled was worrying. He hoped that Andromeda would find something that would help them to move forward. With him at Hogwarts and not declared of age yet, he could do literally nothing.
It was Saturday the week after the troll incident. Harry was sitting in an unused conference room he found on the sixth floor some time ago. He was waiting for two students to arrive and concentrating on his meditation at the moment. Sitting with his robes put on the side in a meditative position on a soft velvet rug he did sense the two Gryffindors enter but did not open his eyes.
"What is he doing? I never have read about meditation in the recommended books" The bushy-haired witch hissed at Neville.
"You can ask him yourself, but be polite I don't think I could have dealt with a troll on my own."
Before the witch could answer Harry opened his eyes.
"I am sure you could have with the right education and training. Good evening Miss Granger and Neville." He invited them to sit on the rug away from the table. Something to do with the situation. Harry did not want to have the hard setting of a conference table for what was he about to do. He had made some inquiries about Granger. Why she even was in that bathroom on October 31st?
Neville took a seat and after adjusting her uniform skirt Hermione joined and looked as if she wanted to bombard him with Questions but Harry's natural authoritative charisma could hold her back enough for him to open the conversation.
"What I did there is called centralization. A way for a witch or wizard to connect with their inner magics. Something you will only find in the more esoteric books that magical Britain somehow managed to nearly make unavailable. Something unreasonable if you ask me, especially for all those first-generation magicals like you Miss Granger. But I digress from the topic of today. I did some research on how you ended up in that Bathroom on that night Miss Granger and am I wrong to assume that you have trouble fitting in with the lions?"
Hermione gulped, and something compelled her to slowly nod her head. Neville was silent and let Harry handle the situation.
"I see. Well, Gryffindors are not known to be into books that much. What I witnessed is that you are very good in repeating what our texts say, but you lack in the creative department" He had to hold up a hand as she wanted to disagree with him.
"Let me finish. I don't say that because I think it is a bad thing. I say it because you had no other choice till today. You come from a mundane background, with no magical to help you adjust to our world. The one thing wrong is that you take the books at face value and without a grain of salt."
"What do you even mean! Without the books, I would fall back very quickly and currently, I have it on good authority that beside you I beat everyone in scores."
Hermione inserted her opinion only for Harry to sigh a bit.
"Yeah, I know about that we have a scoring leaderboard in the common room. Ravenclaw you know. The thing is if you go on vacation to a country you where never been to before. Would you go to a local and tell him how to do something because you read about it in a tour guide?" Harry stayed calm as possible Trying not to break the immersion of a calm but strong exterior. Hermione bit on her bottom lip thinking about it for a second before slowly shaking her head.
"Very good. Can you tell me why you did exactly that with our fellow classmates?"
It was like a mirror was breaking before her inner eye.
"I don't know. It's just, It's just so many things are backward."
She answered slowly and Harry gave her an understanding nod.
"That may be so. But For someone who entered this world for some months now do you think you are informed enough about what are the reasons for some of those backward things? You are not. And because of your bossy attitude, most of our classmates react like they do. They shun you, ignore you, or worse. Magical Britain is very biased towards the first gens. Something I want to change but change can only happen at the speed the society is accustomed to. You can't pull them kicking and screaming by their robe collar."
As Harry looked at her he could see the wheels turning in her head. She may be book smart as fast as he knew, but that was not to say that she was not also intelligent.
"You maybe ruined your chance in Britain but I have an Idea for you. And as the person that saved you from certain death, I hope you listen and really consider accepting."
He unrolled a parchment he took out of his robe pocket. It was an official-looking document and Neville sucked in air.
"What is it, Neville?" The Girl asked.
After a short glance at Harry, the boy answered. "That is a sponsorship agreement. They have fallen out of fashion some time ago. Before the first blood war, some older magical families would sponsor Muggleborns, which meant they would pay for their education and everything. In return, the Muggleborn would agree to a certain amount of time he or she would stay loyal to the family. Some had abused that of course seemingly enslaving those poor sods but many families really flourished through that. Even adopting those Muggleborns into their house if they wanted. It was considered an honor to be sponsored and gave them some kind of protection in our world."
She looked at Harry with a questioning look "Why would you do that for me? The bossy witch you don't even know?"
Harry smiled. "First, because I would get something out of it, and second because I don't want that you throw your potential out of the window because you don't get the right assistance. I can tell you you will not be the only one, but the first one where I could see some mutual benefits for both of us."
Hermione looked like she was for the time satisfied with his answer. Harry unrolled the parchment further and pointed out the most important things.
"Let us go over it together, Neville can give you an unbiased view of what I say. First of all the sponsorship lasts till you Miss Granger will get your first mastery. You will get a one hundred Galleons stipend for expenses besides things that are required for your education, housing, clothing, and meals. In the summer holidays, you will agree to visit a special course in France where you will be educated in wizarding etiquette and traditions. That will be three weeks for the rest of your basic magical education till your NEWT Levels. In Return House Potter will earn your loyalty and services for the next twenty-one years. In this time the word of the Lord of the House is final to you but House Potter will not enter you into agreements whose timeframe is longer than your time of service. Like a betrothal agreement for example."
He made a short break.
"Sounds like something right? No worries my solicitor who also has a mundane law degree will meet up with your parents to go through everything answer questions and all of that. But back to the contract. The last point needs some explanation."
Hermione had read faster than him and looked at him with an angry face.
"Why should I transfer to Beuxbatons?"
"Yeah, why? Three reasons, Number one. You fucked up your first impression. Number two, your parent could visit you or you could only board in the week and be at home at weekends. Portkeys are such a nice thing. And Number Three Because I think you could get to know some people and make friends there. People we will need to slowly change the things around here. Really consider it. It is something you could get something out of it."
After Neville encourages her to really think about it because the terms are very good. Even with the possibility to get out of the agreement before the time if both sides agreed on it or under special circumstances, Hermione took her leave, taking the roll of parchment with her.
"What do you think?" Harry asked Neville as the door closed.
"She is headstrong. But you made good points I think you got her with the parents thing. I can't imagine how hard it can be for Muggleborn to get taken out of their world for nearly a year without really a way to communicate except for letters."
"By the way Neville, did your Gran let House Malfoy bleed for the Broom Incident?"
Neville shook his head.
"Not really, I have gotten a letter with an apology for my misfortune and Draco's unsightly behavior."
"Really? And nothing more?" Neville shook his head. "Well, then I think I will let my exploration of the castle take place in the dungeons for the foreseeable future. I think if nobody teaches that git a lesson we have a problem at a later date what can not be controlled as fast."
Neville nodded and they both heard the sound of the bell announcing that curfew would begin in ten minutes. They stood and left, but not before Harry used a flick of his wand to vanish the rug they sat on and the rune under the position Hermione had sat.
Mid-November, Edge of the Forbidden Forrest
Harry was flying with Erebos on a remote part of the Hogwarts Grounds, not like he was actively hiding that he could change into a Drake. It was not illegal, even if he could be mistaken for an Animagus. All Animagus detection spells he could find would come up negative so nothing illegal to report. He just wanted to have a fun time with his Dragon. A Dragon he called Brother sometimes and Erebos never disagreed with him the last three times. He really liked to be bonded to such a cool Dragon. At the moment they played catch in the air. Something that got more difficult with the colder air of a Scottish November Afternoon. They just turned around one of the trees after venturing in for some second to see that the Gamekeeper was running around and was joined by Professor Dumbledore.
Harry could not hear what Hagrid try to tell him exactly but the Headmaster seemed in the process of calming the Half-Giant.
Shortly communicating with growls Harry and Erebos aimed for a patch of free space with a bit of distance before they landed with flapping wings. Harry changed back and looked at the Professor and the Gamekeeper. "Something wrong Headmaster?"
Dumbledore turned to him and smiled. "Not really Hagrid is just excited to see a living Hebridean Black" Hagrid nodded at that and Harry had to smile.
"Well, It is not like we are extinct. Just very very rare" Erebos sounded out in his deep human voice. Only for Hagrid to do something even Dumbledore never had thought he would look at a Dragon. He fainted. Dumbledore looked at the Gamekeeper with a surprised look before using the Enervate spell waking him up again.
"Blimey, Nice meeting you. I always said those Dragons are something. Didn't I Professor?"
Hagrid said, Dumbledore giving him a nod and looking at Harry and Erebos.
Harry and Erebos chuckled. A lively conversation sprung up where Hagrid asked Erebos and the raven-haired Firstie all kinds of Questions about Dragons and even wanted to introduce them to Newt Scamander because those pieces of information about Dragons should be included in his book. Harry was not so sure about that. Sometimes the world was just not ready for some information. But they had made friends with the Giant and even got permission from him and the headmaster to travel through the forest if they wanted to. Very few creatures would try to attack a Drake and a Dragon. Hagrid just asked not to antagonize the Acromantula and Centurs. Harry asked if there were some wards in place to regulate their breeding the Headmaster looked troubled and said he would have to look into the ward schemes. Easy to deduce, that Erebos had taken it upon himself to accidentally reduce the population. A spider can be a delicacy if cooked the right way. And well done by dragon fire was one way to achieve that.
As November gave way to December Harry was sitting in the Headmaster's Office with Professor Flitwick, McGonagall, and the Headmaster. Fawkes and Erebos had gone for a fly and a game of flame tag over the great lake, which some of the students actually tried to understand the rules off. Making Sense when one would be the one to catch and when it would change was something.
"Okay Mister Potter you had asked for this meeting, I am curious what you have prepared for us." Dumbledore smiled and pointed at the blackboard. Harry stood and nodded shortly. His wand in his right hand he flicked it at the prepared chalk to let it write the words The First Year Study Hall, a Pilot.
"Thank you, Headmaster, after witnessing how some of my classmates struggle with the workload I started working on a book, you could say an updated and improved version of the Introduction Pamphlet the Ministry has for the First Generation Witches and Wizards, to be quite honest with you Professors, this pamphlet is a waste of Parchment and only shows how little the administration thinks of First Generation Magicals. My book will take some time to be released and to bridge that gap and because I think that I am not perfect I thought it would be a good thing to give us first years a place where we could commute and study together. If the rankings in our common room are accurate I think I can help most of my yearmates with the material without risking my ranking."
He looked at his Professors, seeing a beaming Dumbledore and a respectful nodding Flitwick who also was the one to start the conversation.
"I think speak for all of us three when I tell you that your parents would be proud of the idea, and the courage to do something like this for your fellow students. I think I would like to read your script and help you there to fix some things you may have overlooked or to learn something new myself. But what happens after you advance to the second year?"
Harry smiled and flicked at the board again showing a sketch of something that looked like a pyramid. "I thought about that. We have some floors that are not really in use. So we could establish those study halls for each year group after us and maybe even before my year. Without making claims on your decision-making as Heads of Houses Professors, would it not be a good way to look for Prefect Candidates under those who help out their fellow students? So my idea for my second year would be that the First years come to us second years for help but I thought about collecting the questions each year had into some kind of catalog that would stay in the years study hall. Hogwarts would slowly build up a self-supported tutoring system." He flicked at the board again.
"I think that could reduce the overall workload on the older students a bit because many could answer their questions in the study hall or with the catalog."
To say that he shocked the Professors would be a classical understatement. Dumbledore was happily enjoying a Mars bar while Flitwick beamed at his student's idea. McGonagall looked also very onboard but her stern face looked like she had some questions left.
"I have to agree with Professor Flitwick about what your parents would think of your actions Mister Potter, but how would you enforce discipline in this study hall, would it require Prefect supervision?"
Harry flicked his wand again at the Blackboard revealing some complicated-looking rune clusters. "Not really Professor, thanks to this sweet little room-based ward. It is an intent-based magic suppressor." Harry looked very proud of himself as the three professors were speechless. This time the Headmaster got out first of his stupor standing up and throwing some floo puder into his fireplace.
"Bathsheda? Are you free? We would need your assistance."
Shortly after that, a witch that looked like she was in her twenties stepped out of the fireplace. The brown wavy hair rested on her shoulders, and her robe was tailored and looked really modern and like it had a corset lined into it. One look of her at the blackboard was enough for her to get there. And after a short wave of Dumbledore's wand, a comfy chair for her appeared and she took a seat with an elegant flourish of her robes.
"Headmaster? I can't make out the language of the runes, but I can understand why you would want to have me here"
Harry smiled and nodded at the new professor. It could not happen better. Yes, he wanted to help his year mates kind off, but also he needed to bring the point across that he could study ahead. He really wanted to bash some records for OWLs and NEWTs and one way was to take some exams early.
"Hello Professor Babbling I assume, you would have some problems reading those, because they are a mixture of Dragon and Parselrunes. And as far as I know, you would have to be fluent in one or both to even read it."
Again all four of them this time were silent and Harry chuckled a bit. "I may be able to translate some of them to Elder Futhark. Maybe even the whole cluster but why should I? The Broom companies don't share their clusters either"
Babbling looked at Dumbledore before she looked at Harry a bit skeptical. "Forgive me Mister Potter if I am a bit incredulous here but how should I believe that that cluster should be able to do exactly? Wait what is it even about to do?"
She looked at the Headmaster again but Harry was faster.
Putting three Pebbles out of his pocket in a Triangle shape around him.
"I invite you to cast something at me with the intent to hit me with it," Harry spoke confidently standing in Triangle that left one foot on each side of free space. He did not even have his wand out as his head of house sent a stunner at him only to see the red flash sizzle out of existence and one of the pebbles light up for a split second.
"Another one who wants to try?" He replied cheekily.
McGonagall conjured a bird and sent it at him. The Bird just vanished as it hit the ward line.
Babbling used a Stinging Hex while Dumbledore used a Stunner at the same time. All with the same result. Till Dumbledore used a book and banished it at Harry. Touching the Ward line it lost most of his momentum but Harry flicked his wand to levitate it before it could hit him. "As you can see, I still can use magic and the ward should stop most troubles. Maybe let a Ghost or Painting or House Elve monitor the Hall? I really think with that it should be enough."
After explaining his idea to the Runes Professor and some of the theory of the cluster Harry could be pleased with the green light for the project. The Professors would need some time for the rooms to be set up but if the trial run would go smoothly he would get an award for special services for the school and Professor Flitwick joked that if would push the project till his fourth year the Prefect Badge would be his. Something Harry also worked for. He would have to establish himself as an authority if he wanted to change something in Magical Britain.
After his Success with the Professor Harry used his spare time to exercise some kata with his staff that could remind someone of a Bo Staff now. Using the Runes on it he changed the weight of it accordingly to always have a challenge. One Time he even met Sayuri who looked intrigued but did not want to intrude but asked him if he would be open to a spar sometime. Harry quickly agreed as she showed him the two wooden sword replicas, and showed some very fluent movement in handling them.
Besides Classes and Training for the first Quidditch game, he also started his exploration of the Dungeons. Most of the time using his cloak if he was near the wall that would manifest a door to the Slytherin common room. His main reason was to map the different halls and even secret passages he found. Hoping to maybe find something Sylherin had enchanted personally and could only be opened with Parseltongue, unfortunately, he had not been successful, something he was a bit grumpy about. So as he was stopped by three Slytherin firsties he thanked Fate for the encounter.
"What are you doing here Potter? Do you not know that Birds should stay in their towers? Deep down here they could get eaten by the better Predator." One Draco Malfoy spat at him. His two goons were behind him trying to look threatening.
Harry yawned. "Malfoy. Do you not know that some predators of the sky hunt snakes for a living?"
Draco looked puzzled for a second but he quickly got back on track. "You are not welcome here. Leave no before we make you."
Harry had to chuckle. "You and which army? Really. Your two primates behind you can be lucky if they hold their wands in the right direction."
Crabbe and Goyle cracked their knuckles and Malfoy took out his wand. That was Harry's sign. He rushed at Crabbe and Goyle using his staff to knock them off their feet before stunning both of them. Malfoy had used the time to throw a loud cutting charm at him. Something Harry shielded without breaking a sweat to end directly in the blonde Boys face hitting him in the stomach in the process, just to grab him at his hair pulling him back hard.
"Listen and listen closely, Malfoy. You draw your wand the next time I will begin to end you. It is high time to teach you, stupid inbred morons, what happens if someone can't be cowed with intimidation. Go and tell Daddy if you want, and yes I heard how often you use that sentence. You will learn what it means to pull your wand on someone."
He gave him a push so that he stumbled over the two others before hitting him with a spell only to witness a very unpleasant smell spreading in the corridor.
"Maybe go and change your nappies Malfoy." As he and Malfoy's eyes crossed he used his Leglimency to enforce a suggestion that he really should not tell on Harry, that it would only make it worse.
Leaving the blond and his Goons he hoped it would be enough, but Harry was not averse
to end the Malfoy line one way or the other if they proved difficult.

And the next in the box. Please leave your thoughts in the reviews. Can some of you already guess where some of the Keys could be? Can't say when the next chapter will be released at the moment, have to do some restructuring.
