It feels like I'm reaching the end of an era here. Back during the COVID-19 pandemic, I started my first Nuzlocke Challenge as a means to keep myself busy during that time. I adapted it into a story and I ended up writing several more stories about Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire that you all seem to enjoy so much and for that, I'm forever grateful. I've enjoyed writing about the girls for these past few years now. And here we are with a story that'll end their time in my Pokémon Fanfic Universe (Plot-Scorbunnies notwithstanding). And what better time to end their tenure than with a story starring Ruby and Hop's daughter? Read along and find out if she can live up to her mother's impressive legacy...
Prologue
It was the start of a new life.
It had only been a year since Ruby Silverlock and Hop Dande had gotten married on the beaches of Alola* and here they were in their own house in Postwick Town celebrating the arrival of the newest member of the Silverlock family. It had been a tiring time at the hospital for both husband and wife, especially the wife, but the pain and agony of labour had been worth suffering through for they were now the proud parents of their first child.
Ruby was sitting comfortably in a red armchair with plenty of cushions behind her. She was dressed in a cosy white dressing gown and holding her baby in her arms while resting contently against her pillows. The Champion of Galar had never felt so tired in her life and she was amazed she hadn't fallen asleep yet. Her baby had been born last night and yet it still felt like five minutes ago to her. But underneath her tiredness, she was bursting with joy and wonder over what had just happened to her. She was a mother! At her current age of 23, it might be considered early to have a child but she didn't care about that. She had her own child! Ruby was having a hard time believing this was actually happening and she only had to look at the sleeping child in her arms to remind herself that yes, this is real and it had actually happened. She sighted contently as she stroked her baby's face.
The baby was a girl and was already displaying traits of both parents. She had Hop's dark skin and the tips of her hair were purple while the rest of it was silver like Ruby's and she had the same red eyes that Ruby had. Hop was sure that the baby already looked like Ruby despite being only hours old. She was wrapped up warmly in a brown blanket. Ruby smiled with awe as her baby slept peacefully, her head near her heart. She ran her fingers over her baby's cheek.
"Welcome to the world my darling." she cooed softly, "And what a world you've been born in. You're going to see many incredible things my girl. And I'm sure you'll live a very exciting life, just as your mummy and daddy have."
The baby just continued to snooze, seemingly unbothered by what her mother had said. Ruby just giggled.
"I've loved my life is a Pokémon trainer and as Champion of Galar. But I know I'm going to love being a mother too." she whispered, "Your daddy and I couldn't be happier to have you…my sweet little June."
She and Hop had decided on the name due to it being the month of June at this very moment. They thought it would be amusing to give their child the name of her birth month with Hop joking "At least she'll never forget when her birthday is". Ruby rested quietly for a few more minutes before Hop came in to check on her. He came up to his wife and kissed her gently on the lips.
"You feeling any better baby?" he asked.
"Funny, I thought June was the baby here." Ruby joked.
"Heh, you're definitely feeling better." Hop quipped, "Only you could go through the stress and agony of childbirth and still make jokes the next day!"
"You know better than anyone else I'm a tough woman." Ruby said slyly, "With everything I've been through in life, I think giving birth seems pretty mild by comparison."
"I guess so." Hop chuckled, "And how's our new daughter?"
"Sleeping." Ruby answered, looking down to June, "The little angel hasn't stirred since we got back from hospital. I feel I could do with a sleep myself!"
"I can take her off your hands and let you sleep if you want." Hop offered.
"That's kind of you dear." Ruby said graciously.
She was about to hand June over to Hop until someone poked their head around the door nervously. Ruby wasn't surprised to see that her faithful Cinderace, Bugs, wanted to see her. She imagined of all her Pokémon, he'd been the most worried about her. Hop had told all her Pokémon and his Pokémon that they were back from the hospital but they weren't to disturb Ruby as she needed her rest. Bugs had tried to be patient but he couldn't help it and he wanted to see his trainer. He waved shyly to Ruby.
"N'yah…how are ya, doc?" he asked queasily.
"Bugs, I told you and the other Pokémon that Ruby needs her rest." Hop said sternly, "You can come and see her later."
"Aww Hop, be reasonable. He's just worried about me, that's all." Ruby said sympathetically, "I'm OK with just one Pokémon coming in for now."
Bugs approached Ruby. The fiery rabbit was relieved to see that aside from looking exhausted, Ruby otherwise looked fine. She didn't seem to be in any discomfort or pain and she was still smiling, which was always a good sign. He then saw the baby in Ruby's arms. Bugs knew of course that humans had babies like Pokémon did, though strangely enough their babies didn't seem to come from eggs. That always made him puzzled just thinking about it.
"Oh, is dat yer new baby?" he asked.
"Yep, she's born at last." Ruby confirmed, "Bugs, meet the newest member of the Silverlock family…June."
She held her out for Bugs to get a good look at her. Bugs came closer to the sofa and bent down to look at June. He put his hands on his knee and lowered his head close to the baby so he could smell her.
"Don't burn her." Hop said wearily.
Bugs knew he'd have to be careful around the baby. Unlike most Fire types, he couldn't actually breathe fire for his method of using fire attacks came from kicking fireballs at the opponent so he would be unlikely to burn June. He sniffed at her curiously.
"Well I'll be darned! A miniature you!" he joked, "Cute little goil, ain't she?"
Then just at the moment, June suddenly stirred in Ruby's arms and began to open her eyes. Ruby and Hop were surprised by this. They thought June would just carry on sleeping for now. June slowly opened her eyes and gradually began to come out of her sleep. Bugs watched her intently, hoping she wouldn't be scared of him. Ruby felt a tingle of excitement in her stomach. This was June's first encounter with a Pokémon. She remembered her mum telling stories of her birth and how her first time seeing a Pokémon had been her mum's Munchlax the day after she'd been born. Annie had said Ruby had reacted with wonder and curiosity at Munchlax's presence. Was June going to react the same way she had? June's eyes fully opened and she stared at Bugs. Bugs stared back at her.
"N'yah, what's up doc?" he asked.
At first, June just lay there staring at Bugs, making no noise and not moving at all. Then suddenly, June reached up with a tiny hand and touched Bugs's nose.
"Ooooh." she cooed in wonder.
Ruby and Hop giggled. That was the cutest response they could've asked for. Bugs was surprised by the little infant touching his nose like that but he quickly got over it and found himself grinning dopily as a warm, fuzzy feeling spread through his body. This was by far the cutest thing that had ever happened to him. He looked up to Ruby with a broad grin on his furry face.
"I love her already!" he said jovially.
"Aww, you big sweetheart!" Ruby cooed.
"And I bet the rest of our Pokémon will love her too." Hop chimed in, "How about that…we've spent our lives raising Pokémon, now we're going to be raising a child!"
"It won't be anywhere near the same as Pokémon training, but yeah. Talk about the next big step for us!" Ruby agreed, "And I couldn't be happier to be a parent. June, you're really going to be a big, shining star in all of our lives…"
June didn't seem to have heard. She was still reaching out and trying to touch Bugs again. It was safe to say that she'd already developed an interest in Pokémon. Ruby and Hop couldn't only wonder how much further it would develop in the coming years…
Four years later…
For the Silverlock family, their idea of a perfect day out was to have a nice sunny picnic together out in the Wild Area. With a clear blue sky and the sun blazing high up, it was the perfect kind of weather for such an occasion. Ruby, Hop and June were here together with the Champion and Professor bringing some of their Pokémon out to play in the Wild Area and also with June if they wished. June was much bigger now and was able to walk so she could play with the Pokémon. Her silver and purple hair was done up cute little pigtails that Ruby and Hop both agreed made her look more adorable than she already was.
Hop had brought his Dubwool, Snorlax and Rillaboom while Ruby had brought Bugs, Chomps and Freddy. The six Pokémon were already playing with a large ball that the family always brought with them on these picnics. Ruby and Hop watched them as they kicked or threw the ball from one to the other. June clapped merrily and giggled. She was enjoying the show very much and could hardly keep still.
"Yay! Back and forth! Back and forth!" June sang as the Pokémon played, "I wanna play too!"
She leapt to her feet and toddled off to join in the game.
"Be careful out there honey and remember to share the ball." Ruby called to her.
"Guys, June's joining in too so remember to be gentle." Hop reminded.
The Pokémon understood. They didn't mind June playing with them but they didn't like the idea of hurting her so they would make sure to play gently now she was here. Bugs had the ball and he held it out as June ran up to him.
"Hey dere June. You want the ball now?" he asked.
"I wanna catch it!" June insisted.
"In dat case, watch dis…" Bugs replied.
He began to kick the ball from one foot to the other. June loved it when he showed off his football skills. The toddler giggled again as Bugs showed off what he could do. He kicked the ball into the air, spun around on the spot and then kicked it back up with his other foot. June squealed with joy. Then Bugs bounced the ball off his head. June especially found it funny when he did that. Then finally, Bugs kicked it into the air, somersaulted and kicked it towards some tall grass nearby. June had tried to catch it but she couldn't jump high enough and missed it as a result. She watched the ball bounce into the grass and waddled after it.
"I got it! I got it!" she cried eagerly.
"Wait June, don't run off like that! Mummy or daddy needs to come with you near tall grass!" Ruby yelled frantically.
She darted off after June to keep an eye on her while Hop watched over the picnic site. He and Ruby had been taking turns cooking a delicious burger curry for lunch while everyone else had been playing. He watched over the cooking curry while Ruby tended to June. The toddler wandered into the grass to get the ball with Ruby staying close to her. As June was still very young, she had to keep a very close eye on her daughter in places like the Wild Area. Pokémon of any kind could lash out and attack her if they saw her as a threat or an intruder on their territory. Luckily, there didn't seem to be any Pokémon living nearby so it was safe for now. June caught up to the ball and picked it up, feeling very pleased with herself for her efforts. She showed it to Ruby.
"Look mummy, I caught the ball!" she cheered.
"You sure did angel." Ruby agreed, "Come on now, let's get out of the tall grass before a Wild Pokémon comes out and…"
But before they could leave, a rustling sound caught their attention and Ruby protectively grabbed June by the shoulders and held her close. June could sense her mother was nervous and so she felt nervous too. What was making that rustling sound? They looked ahead and saw that a Pokémon had wondered into the grass as they had. Ruby got down on her knees so as not to look too intimidating to the Pokémon. She and June found themselves staring at the adorable, furry face of a Pikachu. It was looking for food and had come across the two while searching. The Electric Mouse Pokémon looked up inquisitively at Ruby and June. June stared back in wonder.
"It's so cute!" she squealed excitedly.
"Ssshhh, quiet darling. We mustn't surprise it." Ruby whispered, "Pokémon can react violently when they're frightened."
The Pikachu wasn't scared despite June's squeal earlier. It was curious for it hadn't seen these particular humans before. Humans were always in the Wild Area and it did recognize some for how often they came but these two were new to it. It sniffed curiously. June reached out to try and touch the Pikachu.
"Here cute little Pokémon." she said sweetly.
The Pikachu recoiled. Then it turned around and ran away. It saw these humans didn't have any food and it didn't want to be touched. June watched it run away sadly.
"Aww, it's gone." she said glumly.
"Not all Pokémon are comfortable with humans dear." Ruby informed, "Some would rather run away than interact with us. Do you know what that Pokémon was?" she asked, her voice full of wonder to intrigue her child.
"No. What?" June asked.
"It's called a Pikachu." Ruby answered, "It's an Electric type Pokémon. Pikachu are quite common around the world and are very popular with many trainers. Your mummy has even battled against trainers who use Pikachu. Pikachu are fast and tough Pokémon with very strong electric powers!"
"Wow!" June exclaimed.
"I know." Ruby said with an excited smile on her face, "Pikachu are yet another example of how fascinating Pokémon are. You'll be amazed at what they're capable of."
She picked June up and carried her out of the grass back to the picnic site. They had timed their return well for Hop had finished with the curry and was just starting to dish it out. He dished out portions for all the Pokémon first and then finished off with himself, Ruby and June. The family sat down on their picnic blanket together and ate their lunches. For a moment, nobody spoke as they ate the delicious curry. The only sounds anyone could here was either them eating or the sounds of nearby Pokémon as they carried about their own lives. June watched with fascination as Unfezant and Corviknight flew through the sky over their heads and Milotic swam gracefully through the lakes near their picnic site. She saw some Growlithe chase each other playfully and bark excitedly as they ran together. She then watched a Butterfree fly by to smell a bed of flowers. She also saw Minccino scampering to the edge of the lake to have a drink. June had developed an interest in Pokémon very quickly thanks to living with her parent's Pokémon for four years and also meeting those belonging to her aunts and their partners. Being here in the Wild Area now to watch all these Pokémon in their natural habitats and living in harmony was the most amazing thing for her young mind to process. She even forgot she was meant to be eating her lunch with how fascinated she was by the sights and sounds and smells of everything around her. Ruby smiled warmly.
"She really is a lot like me when I was that age." she observed.
"So even when you were four years old, you'd be fascinated by Pokémon to the point of forgetting to eat?" Hop teased.
"Hilarious." Ruby said sarcastically, "But yeah, mum was always saying how even as a toddler I was just endlessly fascinated by Pokémon and always watching them. She and dad both knew from the start I was destined to grow up to be a trainer like dad was. I know what he'll say about June: she's got that Silverlock gene coursing through her veins alright!"
"She sure has." Hop agreed, "And I'd love to see her become a trainer one day. It'd be the best thing ever to know our little girl will be like us when we were kids."
Ruby nodded. Of course, she would accept whatever path her daughter chose in life. If June wanted to be something else instead of a trainer, that would be fine. She wouldn't want her to do that just to be like her or Hop, but if she genuinely wanted that kind of lifestyle. Ruby put down her plate of curry for the moment and patted June on the shoulder.
"Hey June. What do you think about Pokémon?" Ruby asked with interest.
"I think they're amazing, cool creatures!" June cried excitedly, "I love them!"
"And would you like to be a Pokémon trainer some day?" Ruby asked again.
"I would, I would! I'd love to be a trainer! I could own lots of Pokémon and be like you mummy!" June replied enthusiastically.
"Ha, ha! That's sweet, but you don't have to be a trainer just to be like me." Ruby said gently, "You be a trainer if you WANT to be one."
"I do, I do!" June said excitedly.
Ruby smiled with awe at her daughter's enthusiasm. So young and yet she knew what she wanted already! How could she not find this adorably sweet? She patted June on the head.
"And what kind of Pokémon would you want as your partner?" the Champion asked with a mysterious tone of wonder in her voice.
June thought for a moment before she answered. What she said didn't surprise Ruby much at all.
"I want a Pikachu! I'd love to have my very own adorable Pikachu!" she hollered.
"Then when you grow up into a big strong girl, you'll be able to catch a Pikachu of your own!" Ruby said encouragingly, "I bet you and your Pikachu will be the greatest team ever my sweet little trainer-in-the-making!"
She picked June up and spun her around merrily, earning an adorable giggle from her child. Hop laughed with joy at his wife and daughter. With him and Ruby as mentors, June would make a fine Pokémon trainer. Who better to teach her about Pokémon battles and strategies and what makes them tick then having Galar's reigning Champion and a Pokémon Professor? He could already imagine June on her own Pokémon journey now. What path would she take and would she become a Champion just like her mother? Nobody knew for now, but Hop knew the future was going to have some surprising results for the whole family…
Nine Years Later…
"Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Juuuuuuuuuuune!
Happy Birthday to yooooooooooooooou!"
June's time had finally come. Gathered together with her family to celebrate her 13th birthday, she knew that this day didn't just mark another year of life for her. It marked the time she'd finally come of age to begin her Pokémon journey. At last, she'd be able to be a trainer and catch Pokémon like her parents before her!
The party had a lot of guests that had come to celebrate this special occasion. Ruby and Hop had decided to invite not just family but some friends to come over and wish June a Happy Birthday. Of course Emerald and Sapphire were here along with their partners Tony and Ashley and June's grandparents Annie and Michael were also here for the occasion. Hop had invited his mother and his big brother Leon to come over too and Ruby had decided to invite Marnie from Spikemuth Town and her friends from the Crown Tundra, Peony and his daughter Peonia. Cousin Gloria had also been invited.
June had grown much in the past nine years. Now she was a teenager, she was slowly starting to leave behind her old childlike self and was on the way to adulthood. She had a slender build and long, shapely legs that she proudly showed off by wearing tiny black shorts. She also dressed in a yellow t-shirt with black sleeves, yellow and black shoes and a yellow cap with a black beak and a picture of a Pikachu's tail on the back of it. June had deliberately chosen this outfit because, in her own words, she wanted to wear her love of Pikachu all over herself. Her silver and purple hair was done up in a ponytail.
Ruby and Hop were now 36 and 37 respectively but they didn't show much signs of getting older for they still looked as young as they did in their twenties. Ruby had become especially attractive in the eyes of many with her bust, hips and legs having especially grown thicker over the years. She still wore her champion Sword and Shield t-shirt, even if it had become more form fitting for her. Her trademark silver hair had grown much longer to the point it reached down to her waist. With this plus her tendency to wear big long leather trench coats, people joked that she looked a lot like Cynthia from the Sinnoh region. Ruby only joked back that she may look like Cynthia, but she'd never be as strong as her. Ruby was also still the Champion of Galar, having officially beaten Mustard's record for longest reigning Champion of the region after 22 years keeping hold of the title and even now, she still was in no hurry to give it up.
Hop has grown his hair longer and styled it with two long points curving upwards on either side of his head. He'd grown broader and more muscular as he continued to keep himself in good shape over the years. He now dressed in a form-fitting blue t-shirt, black trousers and black and purple shoes. Most notably, he now dressed in a long white lab coat. Hop had officially retired from Pokémon battles after June's fourth birthday and had taken up being a Pokémon professor full time. He could still battle if he wanted to but unlike Ruby, he wasn't still actively participating in the battle circuit anymore.
Emerald and Sapphire had both gotten married sometime after Ruby and Hop did, getting wed in Hulbury for Emerald felt getting married in the very place she'd found her calling as a coordinator would be perfect. Both were 35 years old now with Emerald now the proud wife to Tony and even prouder mother of two sons she and Tony had sired together. Their names were Satoshi and Shigeru. Satoshi was the older of the two brothers at 12 years old and Shigeru was two years younger than him. They both sported the same brown hair of their parents while Satoshi had blue eyes like his father and Shigeru had brown eyes like his mother. Emerald and Tony were both still participating in the Pokémon Contest circuit and didn't plan to retire as coordinators anytime soon. They hoped their sons would become coordinators themselves one day. Emerald had grown to be the same skinny person she had been as a child and dressed casually in a long-sleeved shirt, some dark green dungarees with a flower printed in the middle and a pair of casual trainers. Her hair was longer than before and even at her current age, she still wore her trademark green tam-o-shanter. Tony had become broader, though not as much as Hop, and he too dressed casually in a red leather jacket and jeans.
Sapphire and Ashley had been the last to get married of the three couples and they'd gotten married in Unova, a wish from Ashley herself to do just that. Sapphire was also 35 like Emerald was while Ashley was 37. Sapphire was also still running the Master Dojo after succeeding Mustard in the role. Sadly, his old age had finally caught up to him, leaving Honey and Hyde to watch over the dojo with Sapphire. Ashley still engaged in Pokémon battles from time to time but otherwise had no real career in mind and just helped Sapphire teach at the Master Dojo. The duo had been left wanting a child after watching Ruby and Emerald raise their own so they'd adopted a girl whom was a black girl with hazel eyes named Hilda. Hilda had been unsure of leaving her orphanage behind at first but had grown to love her mothers and was happy living with them and their Pokémon. She was considering whether to start a journey of her own someday. She was 11 years old so she had a couple more years to decide on that. Sapphire had grown much too with her hips especially becoming as wide as Ashley's and her legs were looking just as thick. She'd also adopted to Ashley's outdoors style of dress for she now liked to wear a leather jacket and shorts combo and chunky walking boots. She also wore her blue hair in a long ponytail now. Ashley hadn't changed much in appearance or dress sense, still wearing loose clothing even now and she still wore her hair in a large ponytail.
Ruby and Hop set down June's birthday cake in front of the birthday girl. As she'd asked them to, it had been baked in to the shape of a Pikachu's head with coloured icing to make up its eyes, nose, mouth and red cheek markings. 13 candles were lit up, casting her face with a warm glow. June took a deep breath and blew all the candles out with one blow. Her guests all clapped and cheered for her.
"So what did you wish for, dearie?" Annie asked.
"Can't tell you that grandma. I heard its bad luck to tell people about your birthday wish." June joked.
"Not everything you hear is true, honey." Ruby chuckled, "Still, you don't have to tell if you won't want to. But what we'd all love to know is: now you've come of age, do you want to be a Pokémon trainer like your mother, your father and your aunts and uncles?"
"Heh, I think you know the answer to that already mum." June said snidely, "Watching you battle as you defend your title, learning about Pokémon from you and dad and my aunts and uncles, getting to see them in action either at home or in the wild, I'd be crazy NOT to want to be a trainer! I've been waiting my whole life for this!"
"Aww!" the guests all chorused.
"And what kind of journey do you have in mind?" Emerald asked.
"Do you wanna become Champion like Aunt Ruby?" Satoshi asked enthusiastically.
"I bet you'll beat the Gym Challenge and then battle Ruby for the Champion title!" Shigeru exclaimed, "Bam! Pow! Whoosh! It'll be so awesome!"
"Oh heck no! Nooooooooo, no, no, no, no! I wouldn't DREAM of trying that!" June cried hastily, "No way could I ever do that to mum! I wouldn't want to battle through Galar and take her title away. It means everything to her and what kind of daughter would I be to just take that away from her?"
"Oh June, I've told you a thousand times already, me being Champion is just a title. Nothing more." Ruby insisted as she patted her daughter on the shoulder, "It doesn't mean everything to me at all. You do and I don't want you to ever forget that."
"Aww mum." June said with awe, "But I stand firm in my decision. I do want to go on a journey and be a trainer. But I DON'T want to conquer Galar. I don't want to just copy mum's journey and have people see me as just an imitation of her."
"So where do you want to go?" Sapphire asked, "You have any regions in mind?"
"You could try Unova." Hilda suggested helpfully, "I know my mothers would be interested to see you conquer that region."
"Thanks Hilda but no. I only have ONE region in mind." June declared, "And that region…is Kanto. I want to start my Pokémon journey there."
The guests murmured curiously to one another.
"Why Kanto in particular?" Leon asked inquisitively.
"Quite a few reasons Uncle Leon." June replied, "First of all, its home to a lot of Pikachu and I really want to catch one so that'll be a good place to start. Second of all, it's where the famous Ash Ketchum lives and I'd LOVE to meet that guy one day! And three, it looks like a very nice region to visit and I bet I would do well on a journey in that region. So Kanto it is! That is if mum and dad are OK with it." she added quickly.
Ruby had suspected for years that June would want to visit Kanto at some point. She'd become fascinated with the region ever since she'd learned that was where Ash lived. While of course she and Hop were June's main inspirations behind her Pokémon obsession, Ash had become one of June's biggest idols. She loved to watch his matches and the fact he owned a Pikachu of his own naturally caught her interest. Ruby also suspected that June might even have a celebrity crush on the famous trainer, as much as June would try to deny it. She and Hop nodded to each other, both coming to the same conclusion. Half the time, it was like they never needed words to communicate with each other.
"If that's what you really want June, then we'll make that wish come true." Ruby said kindly, "First thing next week, we'll fly off to Kanto and your journey can begin there!"
"You'd really do that for me?!" June squealed in amazement.
"It's what you want, is it not? So of course we will!" Hop said jovially, "Besides, we've been thinking of maybe having some time away for a while so your journey gives us the perfect excuse to do that!"
June leapt out of her chair and hugged her parents in gratitude.
"THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!" she shrieked with joy, "This is easily the best birthday present I could ever ask for!"
"Anytime my girl." Ruby said softly, "And I know you're going to be an amazing trainer when you get started. This'll be as exciting for me and Hop as it is for you, let me tell you."
June agreed. Her family was in for an exciting time as they holidayed in Kanto and allowed her to start her journey. June had no idea what to expect as she started her adventure, but she was convinced it was going to be one she'd never forget…
June's life is about to change forever. She's following in Ruby's footsteps by striving to become a Pokémon trainer! She has potential but her adventures in Kanto will test if she can reach it. How will her journey begin? Join us in the next chapter as June makes her "First Catch"...
Trivia: I'm sure you've figured it out already but June's outfit is based on the Pikachu outfit your player character can wear in Let's Go Pikachu! with the only change being the shorts, which are based on the shorts for the Team Rocket costume. My character went with this look when I played the game so that's why June wears it here. :)
Don't be fooled though, this story won't be a straight-up adaptation of the Let's Go games. They'll be a LOOSE adaptation at best with some creative liberties taken here and there. You'll see as the story goes on.
And before you ask, no, I don't have any real reason why I called Ruby and Hop's daughter "June". It was the first name I came up with and I went with it. :) In-universe as you can see, they called her June in reference to her being born in that month. ^^
Also that scene with Bugs meet June for the first time is based on a comic I drew once where this happens. Special thanks goes to my friend, The Wandering Fox, who came up with Bugs's "Well I'll be darned, a miniature you!" line. Also it was his idea for June to have darker skin and purple streaks in her hair for he felt I designed her to look too much like Ruby so those features gave her a resemblance to both Ruby and Hop as a result. Thanks to him again for that. :)
I'm sure you've also spotted the fact that Emerald and Tony's sons are named after Satoshi Tajiri and Shigeru Miyamoto respectively. I thought that'd be a cute little reference. ^^
Sapphire and Ashley's adopted daughter being called "Hilda"...yeah, I don't need to explain that. You can guess. =P
