Launching Into the Danger Search Challenge
Oscar is seen walking out of the building with the girls making their way to the cliff where Glynda for the new students to come, Oscar is looking very nervous about the initiation he has to pass because he doesn't have much combat experience like Miriam who had way more training and preparing for this.
"Everything, Oscar?" Ruby asked, feeling concern for her new male friend.
"Besides surviving this test without any weapons on me and probably facing some Grimms, everything is peachy." Oscar said sarcastically.
"If it makes you feel any better, I really suck at hand-to-hand combat. Can't really fight well without my Crescent Rose." Ruby revealed.
"But you'd probably still be a little better at fighting than me." Oscar stated.
"Don't worry, Oscar, just try to survive and stay out of danger as much as you can until I find you." Mirim assured.
"Or one of us could find you for some sexy protection." Yang offered as she flexes her muscles.
"Not sure if I'm going to last that long." Oscar exclaimed.
"Come on, Oscar, you were able to beat down some Grimms before your Aura was suddenly unlocked." Mirim stated.
"That was only because the Grimms were those small Creeps." Oscar pointed out.
"That still counts for something." Mirim believed.
"Yeah, some guys get credit for killing their own Grimms even though they don't have aura." Nora stated, suddenly showing up to the group giving them a spook.
"How long were you standing there?" Oscar asked.
"Just the part about you killing your own Grimm." Nora answered making them look at her weirdly.
"Okay, so this girl must be Nora you mentioned before." Yang guessed.
"That's her." Oscar nodded.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you can survive because your Aura makes you crazy tough!" Nora bragged.
"But Aura has a limit depending on how much you've trained with it, meaning he'll have to stay away from any Grimms he spots." Mirim pointed out.
"Yeah, but I'm going for the toughness and show off my Thunder Thighs." Nora smirked.
"Thunder Thighs?" Ruby confused.
"Does it mean your Semblance is lightning legs?" Oscar asked.
"Sounds cool, but no. I just absorb electricity to make myself stronger." Nora explained about her Semblance.
"Oh yeah, I totally forgot that Semblance is important to have too." Oscar exclaimed.
"Girls, I think we just made him feel more down." Yang chuckled nervously.
"Can you just… Give me some time for myself for a bit. I'll catch up in a bit." Oscar said.
The girls look at each other before nodded at Oscar and walk ahead a little faster to give him some alone time to think this through.
Oscar let out a deep sigh upon fully realizing how serious it is being here in one of the four most powerful and greatest Huntress schools in the world, and that he is the first male to have Aura and probably during his time here will unlock his Semblance. Not to mention, he's going to be surrounded by a whole lot of girls that would be both embarrassing and scary that he might be hunted for the girls to feel a guy again.
"Oh man, this is going to be harder than I thought." Oscar exclaimed.
A girl bump into Oscar slightly making him lose balance and notice something on the ground that was dropped, it looks like a small, bladed weapon that is sharp on all sides.
"Huh, you don't see that every day." Oscar said as he was about to pick it up.
Suddenly his hand is grabbed by another one and one sharp weapon is held close to his neck as the farmer boy gasp in shock.
"I hope you weren't planning on taking things that doesn't belong to you." The girl said.
"No, no, no, no, no, no! That isn't what it looks like, I was just going to bring it back to whoever drop it, I swear!" Oscar explained while panicking.
"Oh, so you were going to give back my kunai." The girl said.
"Yeah, I would never take things if the owner doesn't want it anymore." Oscar nodded rapidly.
"Hmm, you are Oscar Pine from yesterday, are you not?" The girl asked.
"Yeah, that's me and I'm kind of in a pickle that I don't have a weapon to defend myself from the Grimms." Oscar explained nervously.
"…Very well, you keep it." The girl said before letting Oscar go and leaving.
"Wait, what?! That's it, you're just going to let me have this! But this is yours." Oscar shocked.
"I already got plenty of Kunai to help me with this test, you look like you need it more and I'm curious to see how the first Huntsman will stay alive." The girl explained.
"Hold on, can I at least get your name?" Oscar asked.
"Irma, and that's all you're getting out of me." Irma revealed her name turned around showing her full appearance.
She is a young short woman with tanned skin, short light blue hair with a black bow on top, and light red eyes. She wears a revealing green armor with the top cut short showing the bottom of her breasts a little, shoulder frills, and a large red scarf with kunai at the ends, a frilly white skirt, with light grey thigh-highs and heels. Breast sizes: E-cup.
"Now, we must go if we are to take part in the initiation." Irma reminded as she walks away.
"Oh right, the initiation!" Oscar gasped as he ran quickly to the cliff.
Soon, all the first-year students arrived at the cliff with the large Emerald Forest right in front of them with Salem and Glynda standing close to give them the break down on what's going to happen from here.
"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Salem said to the young warriors.
"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today." Glynda mentioned.
This causes Ruby to shake a little in fear of what she's going to say.
"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years." Salem revealed what the team systems is gonna be.
"Whaaaat?!" Ruby gasped.
"(Somehow, I knew she was going to react like that.)" Yang thought sighed.
"I knew it!" Nora excited.
"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die." Salem warned.
"(Seriously?! Is she trying to encourage us or make us sign our death warrants?)" Oscar thought sweated in fear.
"You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately." Salem finished the explanation of the initiation.
"Are there any questions?" Salem asked.
Oscar and another girl raise their hands as both wanted to be sure about something important about their life.
"Wonderful! Now, please get ready for the launch." Salem clapped her hands cheerfully.
One by one, the students from the far end all the way from Oscar are being launched from the small platforms like a powerful catapult, they are sent flying high and fast into the Emerald Forest to whatever location they'll land at including the girls Oscar met like Blake, Pyrrha, and Weiss.
"Hmm, Headmistress Salem, there's something you need to know… quickly." Oscar said as he can see the line of students is getting shorter.
"Ah yes, your lack of weaponry. Glad you brought that up." Salem walked up to him.
"Well, I do have this from one of the girls though I'm not true if that'll be enough to keep myself alive." Oscar showed the Kunai.
Irma saw this from her spot before she was launched away.
"Then I believe this maybe of more help to you." Salem handed an object into Oscar's hand.
"What is this?" Oscar asked.
"It's a special tool my late husband used during his time, trying to make a big difference in the world and always believe that something different is going to happen in this life of ours, and he was right." Salem smiled though looks a little sad in her eyes.
"I'm not sure if I should take this." Oscar said.
"It's no trouble, I'm sure he would have gladly given it away to a new user like you." Salem smiled.
"Oh, then… I'll be sure to take real good care of it." Oscar promised.
"That's what I like to hear." Salem said.
"Anything else I need to know?" Oscar asked seeing he's about to be launch very soon.
"Just one thing, since you're the first male student to come to Beacon. I placed a special relic that you will have to find." Salem explained.
Before Oscar could ask about this Relic, Salem did something next that completely blew Oscar's mind, she leans her face closer to his and kiss him on the cheek causing him to turn red like crazy.
"Good luck with the landing." Salem said as she backs away.
Oscar didn't respond to that because he was still shocked of that sudden kiss and is launch toward the Emerald Forest as the last new student.
"I'm not sure if that was such a wise idea of giving him that weapon, you know what it can do if he happens to activate its main feature." Glynda stated.
"Everything will be fine; Oscar seems like a bright boy despite how he looks." Salem believed.
"Okay, and what was that about with the kiss?" Glynda asked.
"Just a little good luck because he's going to need it more than ever." Salem answered.
(With Oscar)
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH?!" Oscar screamed for his life while soaring above the trees.
"Just how the fuck do schools like this keep doing this crazy thing every year!" Oscar pancked.
"Okay! Got to think fast, she said something about landing strategy, and I got to come up with my own." Oscar recalled.
"Damn it, something tells me it's going to be extremely painful!" Oscar worried, then he started to remember something back home before coming here.
(Flashback, A Week Ago)
"Okay Oscar, we're going to do the reaction defense again." Mirim said holding a wooden sword.
"Are you sure we should keep doing this? I feel like I've gotten the hang of it by now." Oscar said.
"It's really important you must engage your aura for protection at any kind of situation like suddenly being attacked, and I heard the training at Beacon is going to be super tough." Mirim pointed out.
"Well, when you put it like that." Oscar realized that Mirim may mostly be right about that.
"Okay, come at me." Oscar said ready himself.
"Just remember, your Aura is from your soul to protect you on the outside as well as growing stronger on the inside." Mirim said before charging at him fast.
(Flashback End)
"(Okay, now just need to think of a say to get myself down safely at least close to that.)" Oscar thought looked down to think of a way to get on ground level.
He took out the silver object Salem gave him and the Kunai from Irma, he presses onto the handle part of the object extended a long black pole that is about his height.
"Whoa, it's a… cane?" Oscar surprised and confused of this.
But he didn't have time to worry about that as he started to slow descend from the sly and will soon hit the tree branches, then he got an idea so crazy that it just might work.
"I hope this works." Oscar gulped.
He saw one tree branch coming towards it hot and quickly hold the cane with the black pole facing down and it made contact to the branch, in that split moment Oscar place the kunai in his mouth and threw his other hand to grab that pole spinning onto the branch until he stops.
"I think I'm gonna throw up…" Oscar groaned feeling very dizzy and sick from this.
He quickly shook off the sickness and look down seeing that the stopping himself plan worked and now all that is left is to get himself down.
"Okay, just how do I do that?" Oscar asked himself.
Oscar looks down at the kunai in his mouth getting another idea.
"I can't believe I'm about to do this." Oscar sighed.
Oscar lets go of the cane to let himself fall down along the tree bark and waited for three seconds until he stabs the kunai into the tree to slow himself down, he saw that he is getting closer to the ground then kick off to roll on the ground with his Aura breaking his fall and stop laying on his back.
"Hehehe, I really survived the landing." Oscar chuckled, feeling a bit proud of himself.
"Right, now with that out of the way. All that is left is to find that temple and find that special relic, except I have no idea what that is." Oscar wondered what it could be.
"Well, I'm sure I'll know once I get there." Oscar shrugged as he starts walking through the woods.
Oscar remembers that the temple is in the north direction which he will go in order to meet up with Mirim and the others, hopefully they had done better with their landing than he did and will survive through this forest.
Oscar stops for a moment to look behind him as he got a weird feeling, and it's not the good kind, that something or perhaps someone is following him, but there was nothing within his eyesight and thought it might just be his imagination as he continues up.
However, something dangerous is lurking behind and hidden within the shadows of the trees as it spots Oscar.
"If I remember my camping skills correctly, the northern end should be this way." Oscar said to himself, remembering the days he used to go camping as a little kid.
Oscar kept going in the direction while hoping to have come across someone by now except he hasn't been able to see a single person since he got here.
"Oh boy, I wonder how this partner thing is gonna be. I could end up with anyone." Oscar worried a little.
The same dangerous thing still following Oscar stocks silently with a soft growling sound.
"Well, there's always Mirim since we've known each other for a long time." Oscar smiled upon thinking about Mirim.
"Ruby would be nice too since we're the same age and move up ahead of everyone, but she does have this love for weapons." Oscar imagined Ruby snuggling onto her scythe.
"Yang is strong, pretty, and fierce in a fight, but her teasing might be too much for me to handle." Oscar blushed of thinking Yang would do something pervert teasing on him.
"Let see, who else… There's that Blake girl from last night, not sure how to handle the silent type." Oscar said thinking of Blake more focus on her book.
"Weiss seems pretty professional of getting things done except she is seems like a strict kind of girl and seems like she's from a rich family." Oscar said feeling nervous.
"Pyrrha is nice, strong, and apparently a big-time champion." Oscar mentioned of the red hair girl.
"I don't know, they all seem like nice choices to be partners with… But I think I would feel more comfortable with Mirim." Oscar said with his cheeks blushing a little.
Suddenly a Beowolf jumps out from behind the tree which Oscar only had enough time to look and become very worried that he is going about to get eaten so soon, but something strange happens when he jumps back and the Beowolf is moving slow for some reason.
"What the…" Oscar confused as he sees himself glowing green then quickly move further back before whatever is going on stop.
The Beowolf look down surprise that its prey has somehow got away until it spotted him and was about to leap forward to attack again, but two blades pierce right through the neck and were pulled to rip the head off.
"Wow, guess me saving the first male Aura user is going to be a story." A girl chuckled as she walks up to him.
"Hey there, I'm Emerald." The girl introduced herself as Emerald greeted and offers him a hand.
KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
The Beacon Initiation has begun, and Oscar was almost killed twice with the first time from almost crashing through the trees and landed on the ground, and the second almost getting pounced by a Beowolf only to be saved by a girl name Emerald which would make her his partner.
