"How is it you run the shrine with so few employees?" Sango asked, adjusting the lens of her camera as she snapped another shot of the shrine entrance.
"I must confess, most of the finances are brought in by the sales of our charms," the head priest said, metal jingling as he pointed towards the gift shop with his staff.
"Love charms, no doubt," she said, shifting her position to the sunlight streaming through the trees.
The priest chuckled, and Sango ignored how the sound sent shivers down her spine. She'd barely been in the man's company for five minutes and refused to turn into a simpering girl as she'd seen some of the guests do.
No matter how good-looking he was.
"Perhaps I can interest you in one?" he asked, leaning over her shoulder as she clicked through her previous shots.
Heat crept up the back of her neck, cheeks turning red at his proximity. "Not a chance."
"Ah, you have already been swept up by someone. I should've known."
If it was possible, her blush darkened. "Nothing quite so romantic. I just don't have time for—" Sango trailed off as he caught her hand, bowing low as his lips grazed her knuckles.
"There is always time for romance, my dear Sango."
She would not swoon just from him saying her name.
"And you would know that because?"
Indigo eyes gleamed at her from beneath dark bangs, his mouth still on the back of her hand. "All the great love stories begin with a chance meeting, wouldn't you agree?"
She swallowed thickly but pulled her hand away, the man offering no resistance. "Kinda hard to do when I don't even know your name."
"How forgetful of me, Yottsuai Miroku, at your service." He finished the introduction with a flourish, and Sango couldn't help but laugh.
"Are you this over the top with all your customers?" she asked, taking his offered arm as he led her further into the shrine.
A wolfish grin tugged at his lips. "Only the most beautiful ones."
