"You don't seem to be the type to need glasses," Bankotsu said, offering up another pair for her to try on. He'd been at this for close to thirty minutes, but Sango hadn't been able to decide which one she wanted.
"My aim's been off recently," she lamented, sighing as she pulled off the pair of mulberry frames.
"I thought you got your camera fixed last week?" he asked, handing her another pair. "You said the range of the focus was fine."
The woman's face brightened as she grinned. "More like gun range."
Bankotsu's mouth dropped open. "You got in?"
Sango let out an excited giggle, covering her mouth as he set down the basket, pulling her into his arms. "I just found out this morning."
"And you waited until now to tell me?" he asked, spinning her around.
"You're working!"
"Who cares?" He spun her around again, then kissed her soundly. "My woman getting into the police academy is a big deal! That's grounds for leaving early to celebrate."
"You really shouldn't."
"Maybe not, but it ain't going to stop me from doing it." Sango laughed as he kissed her again, uncaring of the other customers in the shop.
"You'll get in trouble," she said, a blush staining her cheeks when she pulled back, eyes darting to the other employees.
"They've written me up for worse," he said, nipping at her nose.
Sango smacked his chest. "That's not funny! I know you like working here." Bankotsu shrugged, but she shook her head. "There's only a couple of hours left in your shift. We can hold off the celebration until then."
He groaned but relented, pulling her close. "Fine. But I'll be makin' it up to you later tonight. You deserve all the good stuff today."
Sango shivered, her blush only darkening, but she nodded. "Promise?"
"You know it, baby."
