girani4: Could be interesting if it happens for once, though not this time. Technically speaking, I already have an OC that ended up single. Jason Skywalker broke up with Fluttershy before the end of QFE, he didn't end up with Blake either and he didn't get Korra either because he died.

Chris: Writing the banter between Genji and Ichiro during that part was pretty fun to write.
And now story time.
It has been a few days since Korra was saved from Tarrlok and Amon was arrested, now being held inside the Police Headquarters and awaiting trail for crimes against Republic City. Though when police arrived at Tarrlok's hideout, only the remains of the Equalists remained with no sign of the councilman. Fortunately, Korra was for less than a day in the hospital for a day, being well enough that she could recover the rest of her strength back home at Air Temple Island.
So the young Avatar was now sitting up in her bed in her bed with her hair all undone, as she ate food Ichiro had made for her. Any free time he had, Ichiro was spending at her bedside. But to his irritation, every time he came to visit, Mako had been with her as well.
"The food tastes amazing, Ichiro." Korra said having cleaned her plate, "I'm finally starting to feel like myself again."
"Happy you like it." Ichiro said happily, taking her plate as he stood up, "I'll be right back."
On his way to the kitchen he came across Asami and Mako, who were having some sort of argument.
"...I've noticed how you treat Korra. How you acted when she was missing." Asami said, "You have feelings for her, don't you?"
"What? No! She was taken by a crazy bloodbender!" Mako said defensively, "How did you expect me to act?"
"I like Korra." Asami said as she puts her hand to her chest, "But you've been keeping the truth from me this whole time."
"The truth?" Mako said confused, "About what?"
"Do you have feelings for Korra or not?" Asami said.
"Look, things are crazy right now." Mako said, placing his hand on hers, "Can we deal with our relationship problems later?"
But she yanked her hand away, "Well there might not be any relationship to worry about later." she said somewhat coldly before walking away.
Deciding it was not his place to get involved with the lover's quarrel, he continued his way until he reached the Temple kitchens, where Pema was washing the pans he had used to to cook the meal for Korra.
"Pema, there was no need for..." he said as suddenly she doubles over and cries out in pain, "Pema! Are you alright?"
"The baby is... just kicking, really hard, is all." Pema brushed it off, "I'm fine."
"You should take it easy." Ichiro said concerned, "Your carrying very precious cargo."
"Ichiro, I'm fine." she said, waving it off just as her husband came in.
"Detective, can I have a moment?" Tenzin said.
"Yes, of course." Ichiro said, placing the plate down, "Don't clean them up without me."
"Won't promise anything." she said with a slight chuckle.
The detective followed after the airbending master, until they came to the meditation pavilion, giving a amazing view over the ocean.
Ichiro let out a low whistle upon seeing the view, before turning to the airbending master, "What you asked. Sure, I can keep an eye out while your in the city." he said turning from the view, "But my detective intuition tells me that you want to talk about something else."
"As you know me and your mother... We... You know..." Tenzin said, feeling a bit awkward as he tried to find the right words, "Well, we where in a relationship."
"Yeah, I remember. Genji's laugh still hunts my dreams." Ichiro said dryly, "Either that or he's standing outside my bedroom window when I sleep."
"Or hiding under your bed." Tenzin said with a slight chuckle.
"Can't be." Ichiro said as he shook his head, "I check under it every night because that is exactly something he would do just to mess with me."
"What I actually want to talk about." Tenzin said turning serious again, "You refered to Lin as your mother."
"What? Yeah, she is." Ichiro said, crossing his arms in front of his chest, "It wasn't some slip of tongue."
"Then, if you don't mind me asking, who is your father?" Tenzin said concerned, "Just worried for a friend."
"You may ask, but honestly I don't know. The chief has never told me." Ichiro said with a shrug of his shoulders, "I have a few theories, but no concreet prove."
Tenzin nodded but before the conversation could continue, Lin came walking up from behind. Much to the surprise of Ichiro.
"What are you two talking about?" Lin said suspiciously.
"Just going over the case Chief." Ichiro said, covering for Tenzin as he knew his mother wouldn't like the topic they had been talking about.
"At least your better at lying then your father ever was." Lin said, before turning to Tenzin, "What did you want to talk about?"
"Lin, um, I, I- I." Tenzin said.
"Spit it out already." Lin said impatiently.
"Twenty years ago, we were in a relationship." Tenzin said rather nervously, "Is it possible..."
"You made me come all this way for a stupid accusation like that? It's none of your business who the father of my son is!" Lin shouted annoyed turning around, "I'm out of here."
"Wait! Your right." Tenzin said quickly, "It is none of my business..."
"But you didn't answer the question." Ichiro said turning to his mother, "Who exactly is my father?"
Meanwhile back down in the city, Genji was in his penthouse, fixing himself a drink when to his surprise the elevator door, leading down to his club, open and two men in uniform came in.
"Who the fuck are you two?" Genji said, pouring the content inside his cocktail shaker as he walked around the bar.
"We're here to fix a spider-rat problem." one of them said, holding up spray hose and poison can.
"Weird." Genji said, turning around to pick up a glass, "I don't recall having a spider-rat problem."
He immediately broke the top of the glass, turning around and slashing the exterminator across the throat who was about to electrocute him with the spray hose, which is actually disguised Equalist equipment.
The glass was knocked out of his hand by the second Equalist, Genji immediately tackled him and they both slammed through the window and onto the balcony.
The Equalist struck him across the face with a shard of glass. Blood dripped across his face, Genji evade a wide swipe, gripping his arm into a lock and breaking it on his knee. Genji threw him over his shoulder and over the balcony down to the streets below.
Running the back of his hand against his cheek to whipe away the excess blood, the Shashou looked over the balcony, "See you next fall!" he shouted, he looked up to see Equalists airships fly in overhead as explosions followed, "Republic City is under attack. Things are about to get crazy!"
He runs back into his penthouse, grabbing his sword before entering the elevator. But before it could close, he ran out towards the bar. Grabbing the cocktail shaker, "I'm gonna need this later." he said.
Outside of the Police Headquarters, which was being besieged by the Equalists mecha tanks intended to free their imprisoned leader. The officers there are under the command of Tenzin, who had been brought there as the only remaining Council Member not captured.
The mecha tanks hold up magnetic arms that attract the metalbender's police uniforms. Two metalbender officers get captured with this magnetism, Tenzin tries to save Saikhan by pulling on him with an air , the magnet is too strong and captures Saikhan.
The three mecha tanks deposit their metalbender officers into a truck.
One mecha tank fires a pincer cable at Tenzin, but he airbends the cable down and continues attacking the mecha tank. Two mecha tanks fire cables at Tenzin, who once again deflects them with airbending.
A mecha tank charges toward Tenzin and fires a pincer cable at Tenzin, knocking him against the wall of police headquarters.
Tenzin uses an air wheel to soften his fall. He looks up to see the truck drive away as a burning police airship falling out of sight behind a building. He sees the telegraph operators being captured by Equalists on the City Hall steps.
His vision blurs and goes black as six mecha tanks surround Tenzin and close in.
A motorcycle comes flying through the air, which exploded on impact with the mecha tank, knocking it over. A mecha tank immediately shot a cable, only for Genji to flip over it and jamming his sword into the cable.
The cable was being retracted, with Genji still holding on to his sword. Using the momentum, Genji propelled himself forward and thrusted his sword through the window of the mecha tank, painting the inside with blood.
Jumping off the tank, Genji rushed forward evading more cables as his target attempted to use the magnate to disarm him. But to their surprise it didn't work as the Shashou kept coming. Getting on the arm, he jumped upwards, striking the back box before jamming his sword through the roof.
Yamato's blade was stained in more blood once he retracted it.
Looking over his shoulder, he saw a car flying through the air as Team Avatar minus Ichiro jumped out.
Korra, Mako and Bolin engage the tanks with their bending. A mecha tank is attacked with fire, while the one to its left fires a cable, only to be knocked back by a stone slab. The first mecha tank fires a cable at Bolin, who dodges it by launching himself away. Mako attacks a mecha tank, only to be grabbed by a cable and electrocuted.
Mako grabs the cable and redirects the electricity at the mecha tank. The electricity courses through the tank as its lights go out and it slumps on itself. Korra melts the nearby snow into two water streams and dodges one of the cable and runs up one of Bolin's ramps and bends the water into the exhaust pipes of another mecha tank.
It begins malfunctioning and Bolin uses earthbending to knock it over.
Two Equalists have just carried Tenzin to a truck and set him down when Asami electrocutes one from behind. She takes out five more Equalists as they attack her, nimbly dodging their attacks before electrocuting them.
"Hot damn." Genji said impressed as he walked up to her, "You just went from a twelve out of ten to a thirteen out of ten."
"I... thanks?" she said a bit unsure as the airbending master awoken.
"Get the fuck up, airbender." Genji said, holding out his hand, "We got a city to save."
"Thank you." Tenzin said as he accept his hand as he was pulled back to his feet.
Tenzin joins Mako, who is dodging a mecha tank's attacks. Tenzin positions himself beneath the tank and airbends it high into the air, sending it flying into the dome of City Hall.
Korra rushing up to Tenzin, "Are you all right?" she said.
"I'm fine. Thank you, kids and Genji." Tenzin said, "Another moment later and I would have been a goner."
"Fuck me." Genji said annoyed, "It's weird hearing him talk like that. Like a young person."
"Hey... Everyone." Mako said, pointing down the street, where an Equalist airship can be seen arriving at Air Temple Island.
"Oh fuck." Genji muttered, "I hate a Monday."
Ichiro comes out of the Air Temple to see the Lieutenant and a group of chi blockers coming down from their airships using harnesses to slide down the cable to the island. The White Lotus sentries charge forward to confront them.
His mother stood behind him as they were still in discussion about the secrecy of his father. He turned around to Tenzin's family who watches from the balcony.
"Everyone, hide inside and remain calm." Ichiro said before Pema screams in pain, "Pema that is not remaining calm."
Pema is leaning over with her hand on her stomach as her youngest daughter said, "Mommy, what's wrong?"
"The baby's coming!" Pema said in deep pain.
"...Seriously!?" Ichiro yelled, "Now of all times!?"
"Now who is not remaining calm?" Lin said as two Air Acolyte midwives rush to help Pema and lead her inside, leaving the kids watching in concern.
Ichiro listen to the sound of booted feet running, coming closer by the second. And soon enough, much too soon, the Lieutenant and a group of chi blockers race up the steps and charge.
"Let's bring it to them, detective." Lin said sternly, "That's an order."
"Hell yeah." Ichiro said.
Lin uses her cables to take out two chi blockers, before grabbing another Equalist with the cable. An Equalist runs up to her, which Ichiro intercepts with an powerful punch. Ichiro preforms a haymaker hitting the Equalist in the face.
The Police Chief slams the floor, creating three earth columns that send the Equalists flying into the air. Ichiro is fighting the Lieutenant. He dodges his batons, sending a current of air out of his fist to knock him over and another blow of air from behind send him flying away over a nearby roof.
"Whoa." Jinora said as she landed with her glider, "You airbended."
"No..." Ichiro said shaking his hand, "I must have punched him so hard it looked like I airbended."
"Jinora!" Lin said sternly, "You shouldn't be out here!"
"And my brother can be out here!?" Jinora said much to the shock of Lin.
It had to be today of all days, that the secret of who Ichiro's father was finally came out.
Ikki arrived on an air scooter and knocking several Equalists over, "Get off our island!" Ikki said as she knocks down several more Equalists. Meelo sends three other blasts from his hands and rear, and makes a small air shield around himself to send the remaining Equalists flying.
"Never thought I would see that." Ichiro muttered.
Some time later, the Equalists bound and in a row in front of Lin, the children, and the White Lotus sentries.
"Take these Equalists and lock them in the temple's basement!" Lin said to the head sentry, before turning to the airbending kids, "Nice work, kids."
The sound of Oogi's grunt is heard overhead and soon enough Tenzin's sky bison lands in the center of the courtyard.
"Dad!" Jinora said as Tenzin and Team Avatar dismount,
Tenzin embraces his children, "Oh, thank goodness you're all right!" he said relieved.
Meelo climbs onto Tenzin's shoulder and pulls on his father's head, "Daddy! The detective knows how to airbend."
"He what?" Tenzin said wide eyed, "You mean..."
Ichiro gave a small nod, as Tenzin stood up, his eyes fixated on the young man as if he had never seen something like him before.
"I knew it! I fucking knew it!" Genji said before his own eyes widen in realization, "Oh, shit! Oh, shit! Oh shit! This is not happening right now! No!" before breaking down in hysterical laughter.
He had thrown an arm around Asami to keep him off the ground as he broke down in laughter, "Hey Asami! Asami! Do you realize, I bragged about fucking both this guys grandma's to his face! To this face!" he said pointing at the annoyed Ichiro's face.
"...There he goes again." Ichiro muttered annoyed.
"Yep, there he goes. Mentioning how he fucked my mother." Lin said before turning to Tenzin, "Go on, be with your wife. We'll handle the crazy, psycho grandpa."
Down the hall the sounds of the cries of a baby coming out of Tenzin's and Pema's room. When the other's reached the open door leading to that room, they saw Tenzin sitting on the bed, his hands on his wife's shoulder's who was holding a baby.
"Our new son." she said, handing the baby to Tenzin.
He puts his finger on the baby's chin and it coos, "Hello.", he said as Meelo, Ikki, and Jinora peer into the room, "Come, meet your new brother."
The Airbending kids walk into the room with his sisters. "A brother?" Meelo said, "First I didn't had any, now I got two!"
"What?" Pema said flatly, looking at her husband who better had an explanation.
"Welcome, I'm Ikki." she said to the baby, "And this is Jinora and Meelo. We have a super great family and we're so happy that you're a part of it."
"What're you gonna name him?" Jinora said, putting her hands together in excitement, "Can I pick?"
"We already chose a name." Pema said, resting her head on Tenzin's shoulder
"Rohan." he said.
Ichiro watches the scene from near the doorway, a small sad smile on his face before entering, "I'm so sorry to interrupt." he said, "But more airships are coming."
Tenzin looks down at Rohan with deep concern, as they had won a few battles, the war for Republic City was far from over.
"Everything's not gonna be fine, is it, Daddy?" Ikki said worried.
"Don't worry, Ikki." Ichiro said gently with a small smile, "They will have to go through me before they can reach your family."
"Already acting like a big bro." Jinora said much to the surprise of her mother.
Out on the courtyard, Genji, Korra, Mako, Bolin, Asami and Lin watch the incoming airships.
"I do realize what you see in the detective." Genji said lighting his cigarette, "He looks a bit like an older version of Aang, your previous life. If he had hair and no tattoo's and a stick up his ass."
"Genji, only you would be so self absorbed." Mako said defensively.
"Look at little Mako Jr." Genji said with a smirk as he opened the cocktail mixer, "Trying to be the white samurai."
"Little Mako Jr.?" Mako said flabbergasted, "That doesn't even make sense!"
"It's funny." he said casually, "It doesn't have to make sense." as Ichiro and Tenzin comes back.
"What do you want to do, Tenzin?" Korra asked when they stood next to her.
"I need to protect my family, and get them as far away from this conflict as possible." Tenzin said with a sigh, "If Amon got his hands on my children... I hate to even think of it."
"If you're leaving, then I'm going with you." Lin said immediately, "No arguments. You and your family are the last airbenders. There's no way in the world I'm letting Amon take your bending away."
"Thank you, Lin." Tenzin said, before turning to the teens and Genji, "Korra, I want you to leave this island and hide for the time being."
"I'm not giving up." Korra said determined.
"We are not giving up." Ichiro said quickly, knowing there isn't a lot of time to argue, "But we can't fight this on our own."
"Speak for yourself." Genji said as he took a swing from his drink.
"I sent word to the United Forces. They will be here soon." Tenzin as he explained the plan, "And once my family is safe, I will return. With the reinforcements, we can turn the tide in this war."
"What you're saying is..." Korra said with a sighs, "We need to be patient."
"You're learning well." Tenzin said as he puts his hand on Korra's shoulder. Korra brightens up, embracing Tenzin who turns to Ichiro, "I know we have a lot to talk about..."
"I know, but there is a time and place for that talk." Ichiro said with a nod, he turned to look at his mother.
Mother and son looked at each other, "I..." Lin said, punching Ichiro against the shoulder, "Stay safe."
"You too, mom." Ichiro said, with a painful grimace as he rubbed the spot his mother had punched him.
Soon the skies above Republic City is filled with several Equalist airships, City Hall is surrounded with Equalist airships and mecha tanks around it.
Hiroshi Sato is standing on the front steps, addressing a large crowd.
"It is a glorious day, my Equalist brothers and sisters! Amon has torn down the tyrannical bending government! He has declared bending illegal and he has the Avatar on the run. Our great leader has a vision for the future. One day soon, bending will no longer exist and we will live in a world where everyone is finally equal! The United Forces are on their way right now to try and stop that dream. But we will prevail!"
The crowd cheers loudly in response as in the distance, on Aang Memorial Island where the statue of Aang wearing a large Amon mask, Equalist banners are hanging from Aang's staff.
Ninth chapter which gives a lot of action that set's up the next chapter and reveals a lot of things. Hope you enjoyed.
