Hello there, welcome to the next chapter of Avatar: Immortal Dragon.
Hope your going to enjoy it, and now on to the review.
Spiral-Voltron-Zero0Q1: Happy to hear.
And now story time.
Alright quick update, Tonraq and Senna got arrested for attempted assassination attempt on Unalaq, much to the surprise of Korra. I mean, Tonraq doesn't look like a guy who would kill his own brother, unlike Unalaq, but what do I know?
But obviously trying to be fair, Unalaq has granted them a fair trial, which won't be rigged at all or something. Anyways, I'm now with Asami, Bolin and Mako in Varrick's mansion. Not as cool as my penthouse, but what is? Not enough whisky by a... damn I had something for this.
Also, Unalaq still hasn't paid yet.
Inside Varrick's mansion, Genji was laying on the sofa on his back with his legs hanging off the side. Asami was sitting next to him while Mako and Bolin sat on a nearby chair.
"...I'm so fucking bored!" Genji suddenly shouted, "Mako! Entertain me!"
"I'm not here for your amusement!" Mako snapped at him.
"Your not!?" Genji said surprised as he lifted up his head, "Then why are you here!"
But suddenly, he felt his head lifted up further. Looking up he saw the green eyes of Asami looking down at him before she laid him down on her legs. He let out a soft sigh as she began to play with his hair, his moments of boredom relieved for the moment.
"Where's Varrick?" Asami said, "We should've closed our deal an hour ago."
"Would you relax? This place is great." Bolin said, closing his eyes in delight, "And the best part about it, Eska doesn't know I'm here."
He opens his eyes and smiles at them just as the door opens and Eska, Desna, and several Northern Water Tribe soldiers enter the room.
"I wasn't hiding." Bolin said quickly.
"I'm not on the hunt for you." Eska said, slightly narrows her eyes, "Currently."
"We search for Varrick. Our father wishes him to stand trial." Deska said, "He is a traitor to the Water Tribe, along with our aunt and uncle."
"What?" Mako said, "Korra's parents were arrested?"
"Wait, did I not mention that?" Genji said confused, "Senna and Tonraq are going to jail."
"Damn it Genji." Mako said annoyed.
One of the soldiers came back to report that Varrick's not at his mansion. "Very well. Desna, let us continue our search elsewhere." Eska said before turning to Bolin, "Boyfriend! Bow to me when I exit."
"Yes, yes, my sweet koala otter." Bolin said quickly as he kneels and bows to Eska.
"You are so cute when you grovel." she said before taking her leave with Desna and the soldiers.
"How many Yuan do you want to bet he get's pegged." Genji whispered to Mako.
"Not funny." Mako said.
"I beg to differ." he said smugly.
"Don't let her treat you that way." Asami said to Bolin, "Stand up for yourself."
"I tried to break up with her." Bolin said crossing his arms, "But Mako gave me terrible advice."
"Thanks a lot, Mako!" Genji shouted.
"Wait, how are your girl problems my fault?" Mako said, "And fuck you Genji."
"Bolin, you need to be honest with her." Asami said, "Tell her how you really feel."
"Honesty is for fools, kid." a greatly muffled voice said. Making the trio widen their eyes in surprise and looks around.
"Yeah, what Varrick said." Genji said pointing over his shoulder to the stuffed platypus bear.
"If you want to ditch this girl, then make yourself scarce." the muffled voice said, "Disappear, like I did. To somewhere Unalaq will never find me."
"A platypus bear?" Genji said sitting up as he walked to the stuffed animal, Varrick's head popped out of it, "Varrick the platypus bear!?"
"How we doin'?" Varrick said.
"The coast is clear." Mako said, "You can come out."
"No fucking way, mister. Not until I know it's absolutely 157% safe." Varrick said as a third hand appears in the bear's mouth with a cup of tea, which he takes, "Thank you, Zhu Li."
"Your assistant's in there too?" Asami said.
"Zhu Li never leaves my side." Varrick said, taking a sip of the tea, but spits it out in disgust.
"Now that is loyalty." Genji said, "You could learn a thing or two from her, Mako."
"I'm not even going to respond to that." Mako said.
"You just did." Bolin pointed out.
"Bolin, I got a little something for you 'round back." Varrick continued, the platypus bear's tail lifts up, and a stack of paper yuans falls out, "Now listen up. Unalaq's rigged this trial, no doubt about it."
"That's what I thought." Genji said
"So what's the money for?" Bolin said as he picks up the wad of cash.
"Bribery, of course!" Varrick said, "I need you to make sure my trusty rebels stay out of prison. There's always someone willing to look the other way for a few yuans."
"He's not wrong." Genji said.
You might be wondering why I'm laughing, just thought of something funny. Not that they would ever catch me alive, but remind me to never let Bolin make the bribes if I ever get arrested for the many crimes I have commited, some which may or may not have been war crimes. But they are crimes, wouldn't want to be caught committing a misdemeanor.
So anyway I was called to the trial as a witness, the trial was presiding over by judge Hotah who obviously isn't on Unalaq's payroll, who do you ask?
Anyways, I'm called to stand witness so I should get back to that, wish me luck.
"...I was asleep in my chambers when the rebels attacked." Unalaq explained, "They overpowered me, and the next thing I remember was waking up in the snow after Genji Chirayus had saved me."
"According to Unalaq's testimony, you attended a meeting where Varrick tried to incite a civil war." Hotah said, "Is that true?"
"Probably." Genji said sitting in the witness stand, "All I know is that I followed my grandson to his girlfriends parents house and there where other people there, where they may have talked about how Unalaq is a dick. No offence intended, Unalaq but they would be kind of right. I still haven't gotten my money."
"Objection!" Bolin shouted, "Heresy!"
"Hah, topical and will totally not be dated a few weeks from now." Genji said, taking his flask from his pocket before taking a swing.
"Sir, what are you drinking?" Hotah said.
"Whisky, I think." Genji said swirling the contents, "My grandson likes to swap it out with water. He's a prankster like that."
"I have never done that." Ichiro muttered.
"Sir, I will have to ask you." Hotah said concerned, "...Are you drunk right now?"
"That's not true! I'm always in a drunken stupor!" Genji protested, "Imagine what kind of monster I would turn into or what I could accomplish if I was not! I think I would be known as 'God of Destruction' instead of 'Immortal Dragon'."
"Quiet down out there!" Hotah said, slamming his gravel down, "I've heard all I need to. I'll return shortly with my decision."
As the judge leaves, Korra spouts a worried expression. Her boyfriend held her hand, assuring her things will be alright.
Things would not be alright, I'm not sure why but I blame Mako.
"Senna, please step forward." Hotah said once he had returned. Senna steps forward and looks worriedly at her husband, "I have found you... innocent. You are free to go."
A guard removes her handcuffs and she runs to Korra to hug her as the judge continues. "On the charge of treason, you are all found... guilty. The punishment for this crime is death."
Told you things would not be alright.
Korra and Senna, who look on with utter shock and disbelief. Tonraq closes his eyes and bows.
"You can't do this!" Korra shouted, "You take their lives, and I'll take yours!"
Hotah eyes widen in shock as her uncle comes between, "Korra, calm down. I'll talk to him." he assured her before taking the judge aside.
"I know I promised to respect whatever decision you made, but I must ask you to reconsider." Unalaq pleaded, "Show these men and my brother mercy."
"Very well. I'll change their punishment." Hotah said a bit too quickly, "Your lives will be spared, but you will live them out in prison."
The Rebels and Tonraq heave a sigh of relief as both Genji and Ichiro shared a glance. Grandfather and grandson nodded at each other as they had spotted the same thing.
Later when Hotah is driving his Satomobile out of town, he suddenly felt something sharp being pressed in his back through his seat. The judge glances in his review mirror to get the shock of his life, seeing Genji staring at him.
"Eyes on the road, fuckface." Genji ordered, "You might want to keep driving. I rigged this car with an explosive. It's going to burn brighter than that Avatar statue on Avatar Day if it goes under a certain speed."
"B-But wouldn't you get caught in the blast as well?" Hotah said nervously.
"I'm in the car as well. So yeah, duh." Genji said with a roll of his eyes, "But then again, I am known as the 'Immortal Dragon'. So I will live through it. Will you?"
"W-What do you want?" Hotah said terrified as he stepped on the gas to retain his cars speed.
"Take a left here." Genji said as they began to drive on a deserted snowy road, "So, about getting Twinkle Toes father out of prison."
"I-I'm sorry, but there is nothing I can do." Hotah said glancing over his shoulder, "I was just following Unalaq's orders."
"Eyes on the fucking road! Are you trying to get us killed!?" Genji shouted, "Now what you said before was interesting. So go on! Keep talking!"
"I-I've worked for Unalaq for years! He said he needed everyone to think the trial was fair. He has dictated every word I said." Hotah said sweating bullets, "He's trying to keep the Avatar on his side. But he also wants her father out of the way. Just like when he got her father banished."
"I knew it!" Genji shouted, as he rolled open the window, "I knew that fucker is a lying fuck face." before he began to climb out of the car.
"Where are you going?" Hotah said scared.
"There is a bomb in this car, I don't want to be caught in an explosion again!" Genji shouted as he was laying on the roof and looking upside down in the car, "Anyway, interesting talk! Bye-bye!" before letting himself go.
With a few curse words as he rolled over the snow, Genji came to a stop as he watched Hotah's car disappearing further and further in the distance.
The roar of an engine caught his attention as Ichiro pulled up on his snowmobile comes driving towards him.
"You got what you need?" Ichiro said as Genji took a seat behind him.
"That and more!" Genji said, showing a audio recorder from his pocket. The duo began to drive back into town.
"Okay, I have to ask from a moral stand point." Ichiro said, "Did you really put a bomb in Hotah's car?"
"Of course not! I did cut his gas line so he should have ten to fifteen minutes before his car will shut down." Genji laughed, "I wish I could see his face when that happens and he realizes there is no explosion!"
Later inside Varrick's office, the recorder was laying on a desk where Korra, Genji, Ichiro, Mako, and Asami listening to it.
"Unalaq's a liar and a traitor!" Korra shouted after hearing Hotah's confession.
"I've been trying to tell you that from the get-go!" Varrick said from his hiding place.
Korra slumped down on the couch, "I can't believe I trusted him..." she said ashamed, before looking up, "I'm busting my father and the rebels out of jail. I need your help."
"If you do this, there's no going back." Mako said.
"I know." she said, standing up, "Will you help me?"
"Yeah, let's go!" Genji shouted excited as he jumped up from his seat, "Civil war baby!"
"I'll help you." Asami said.
"Count me in!" Varrick said, raising Ping-Ping's paw.
"Well someone has to be the voice of reason." Ichiro said with a shrug, "I'm in."
The door opens, revealing both Bolin and Pabu dressed up like Eska, his hair standing up awkwardly.
"I have so many questions." Genji said with barely constrained laughter.
"I'm guessing the breakup with Eska didn't go well?" Asami said.
"No, no, the honesty thing worked out great." Bolin said smiles sarcastically, "So great she decided we should get married!" gesturing to the betrothal necklace.
"...Isn't the man suppose to give the woman the betrothal necklace?" Genji said slightly confused, "Or did that change in the last fifty years?"
"No, no." Korra said slightly amused, "That's still the same."
"I guess Eska didn't get the memo." Bolin mumbled.
"Take note Ichiro." Genji whispered to his grandson much to his emberrasment.
A guard is patrolling the inside of the prion, where an earthbending move causes him to fall into a trench. Sparks fly out of the trench as the guard is electrocuted. In the trench, where the unconscious guard is lying, while Korra, Genji, Ichiro, Asami and Mako climb up the trench.
"Your dad should be there." Ichiro said, turning to walk the other way, "I am going to make a distraction for our escape."
"Be careful." Asami said.
"Don't worry, Asami." he said turning to look at them, "I always accomplish my mission."
Sneaking his way into the security office, with a window overlooking the courtyard on one side. Ichiro walked over to the console, preparing to set off the alarm on the other side of the facility.
But just before he could press the button, he heard someone speak up.
"I was expecting the Shashou. Why are you here?"
Sweeping around, he saw that it was Unalaq. Without warning the Northern Water Tribe chief throws an arc and a blast of water at Ichiro. He manages to use his airbending to leap over them.
Unalaq throws another water blast at Ichiro, but he manages to dash around it and pushes him against the wall with an air blast, downing him. Pining Unalaq against the ground, the man let out a painful groan.
"Your wasting your time." Unalaq said, "Avatar Korra will never see her father again."
"Where is Tonraq?" Ichiro growled.
"On a ship headed to the Northern Tribe. He'll serve out his sentence there." Unalaq said, "And the Avatar can't do anything about it, she cannot threaten war. She must remain neutral, or our tribes will never find unity."
"You don't want unity. You want power. You've always been jealous of Tonraq. You got him banished so you could become chief, and I bet it just killed you to learn he was the Avatar's father. No wonder you kept trying to take her away from him." " Ichiro deducted, "You claim the Avatar can't do anything about it and maybe she can't, but you do know we have an Shashou on our side right?"
"Even he can't fight off an army, fight an entire war on his own." Unalaq said before he was knocked out by a punch to the head.
On 'the Asami' yacht, Varrick, still in his disguise, starts operating it. Korra, Genji, Ichiro, Mako and Asami enter the room.
"Where's your dad?" Bolin asked.
"On a ship headed north." Korra said, having been informed of it by her boyfriend, "Think we can catch up to it?"
"Sure, we can!" Varrick said.
Once at the open sea, they took a look out for a ship which eventually they noticed. Taking one of the speedboats, Korra, Genji, Ichiro, Mako and Asami headed towards it, before entering the battleship via a waterspout. On landing, Korra uses her two water whips to throw the distracted crew members overboard.
A stray crew member tries to escape to the door, but finds himself skewered on the end of Genji's sword.
Northern troops attack with waterbending, but Genji slides around it with the grace that wouldn't but out of place coming from an airbender. Slicing through the water, each of them had their heads seperated from their bodies.
Shortly after, Ichiro and Asami reemerged from the lower deck with the freed rebels and Tonraq.
"Korra, this is crazy." Tonraq said, "You promised me you wouldn't do anything rash."
"I had to. I'll explain later." Korra said as 'The Asami' approaches and everyone jumps on board. Korra throws a final fire blast before the yacht departs.
Once the yacht was out of in the vast open ocean, the group had gathered inside the lounge area, Genji was slouched down in his leather chair a bottle of whisky in hand. Everyone was quiet as Korra explain what had happened.
"...So once I knew the truth, I couldn't sit by and do nothing." Korra finished explaining.
"My own brother betrayed me. And our entire tribe." Tonraq said saddened, "I've been running from my past for too long. It's time to put my brother in his place."
"You have our support, Chief Tonraq." the Rebel Leader said, as he and the other rebels put their fist to their heart.
"Mine too. I'll be proud to fight alongside you, Dad." Korra said puts her fist to her heart, "Civil war, baby!"
"No, Korra." her father said, "The best way for you to help is by getting the president of the United Republic on our side. The South can give Unalaq a good fight for a while. But we'll need the United Forces in order to win this war."
Korra glances up sadly, looking into the eyes of Ichiro, before looking up at Tonraq; determined, "All right, I'll get you all the help you need. I love you, Dad." she said, hugging her father.
"I love you, too." he said.
Tonraq and the rebels took the speedboat back to the South Pole.
Later that day, Asami stood on an upper deck, leaning on the railing.
"Yo, lady Sato." Genji said walking up to her with a cigarette between his lips and a bottle of whisky in hand, "How are you doing?"
"I'm fine." Asami said, "Just wondering if we did the right thing."
"Never bother to stop and think about that." Genji said joining her on the railing, "But there is something more isn't there."
"Yeah." Asami admitted, knowing it wouldn't work lying to the Shashou, "Korra's dad... She has such a good relationship with him... Makes me a bit jealous."
"I understand." Genji said taking a hit from his cigarette, "Did I ever mention my dad gave me and my brother away as payment?"
"Yeah, I think you did." she said with a nod, "Really shitty thing to do."
"Yours is worse." Genji said, "I mean he didn't give you away to be trained to be a monster that kills other monsters through methods that border on torture, but he did made all those machine for Amon because the non-benders where being oppressed by the bending elite... Wait, how where they the bad guys again?"
"Because they wanted to commit a sort of genocide against people with bending through a violent revolution." Asami said, "Their goal of equality was good, but their methods where not."
"Right." Genji said with a nod, "Let's just agree we both have shitty parents."
"I'll drink to that." Asami said, accepting his gesture and taking a deep swing from it, "But still, I'm happy your parents gave you away or else we never would have met."
"Yeah, me too." Genji said accepting the bottle back as the two leaned against each other. Neither complained about how close they were standing.
Sixteenth chapter, still not happy about it. But if you enjoyed it, then I guess I am too.
