Disclaimer: I do not own Voltron or any of its characters.

Rating/Setting: Rating is T. Setting is DotU in flavor and is AU. You need to have read "Role Reversal" in order to make sense of this twist on the Voltron DotU universe. ;-)

Summary: So, this story is the continuation of "Role Reversal" which was a challenge from the former KAEX group member, Cheetoy. In this case, Keith is the Prince and Allura is the Alliance pilot. It's hard to believe that it's been five years since I finished it. I've reread it several times since and it's one of my favorite stories. I decided that it was finally time to brush the dust off the sequel that I started writing when it finished. I scrapped the chapter and a half that I had written and began again. I hope that you enjoy learning the rest of the story.

**well, I wrote the above in March 2020 and didn't pick it up again until March 2021. Let's see how it goes. 😊

Chapter Two

"Disengage!" Coran called out again. But he saw that it was too late. Haggar in her black robes was there; then she and the prince were gone. "Report, Lieutenant!" He could see Lance in the garden running to the spot where Keith had once lain.

.**********.

"They're gone, Coran! I'm coming in to Control. Make sure that Allura doesn't engage that other robeast. And tell the guards to get out of the way when the robeast is killed because the explosion is devasting. The guards can take out that robeast, we're taking to the air!" Lance looked to the curtained windows of the elegant ballroom that bordered the garden to see them clogged with faces. "And for the love of God, have the guards get the guests to a safer place!" he yelled as he ran back to the castle entry.

As he ran through the castle corridors, he directed some guards towards the ballroom and others toward the location of the second robeast. As the guards separated, the noise of shouts and booted feet running on the tile flooring diminished. Now just the sound of his own feet and breathing sounded in his ears… along with the sound of his pounding heart. What happened? Why did I allow Keith to attack the robeast? He shook his head as he ran. He allowed it because Keith was the best person to take the robeast out. And Haggar knew it! And was it coincidence that it was tonight? He ran into Control, his breathing was a little heavy but he was able to talk without gasping. "Status, Coran!"

The advisor turned; his face professional but slightly pale. "Sensors are scanning, but there's been no sign of a ship. Hunk reports nothing in the air. Allura and Pidge should arrive-"

"What's happened?!" Allura called out as she and Pidge entered the room at a run. Her eyes scanned the room, noting the missing person immediately. "Where's Keith?!"

Lance turned to face her, "He's gone. After he destroyed the robeast, it exploded and knocked him out. Haggar appeared and then they disappeared into thin air."

Allura moved closer to Lance, her eyes moving around as she tried to comprehend what had occurred. She turned to Coran, "No sighting of a ship?"

"Not yet, Allura," he said softly.

"Raise the dais!" Lance called. "We can't do anything here but we can be ready when her ship appears."

The dais started up before he had even finished speaking and the three ran for their doors.

.**********.

Coran watched as the lions launched from their hidden lairs. His eyes lingered on the monitor showing Black Lion and then moved back to the active monitors. Haggar had sent a coded message and he felt that reinforcements would be arriving. Would the team be able to keep Haggar's ship from reuniting with a battle cruiser? He had a bad feeling about it.

.**********.

Yurak turned the gaze of his humanoid eye to the viewscreen of the Drule battle cruiser Vengeance. The cruiser had been in the system returning to Doom from another mission with no intention on harassing the Arusians this day when he had received the message from Haggar. It simply said, 'Enter the Arusian atmosphere and wait for instructions.' He wasn't a big fan of Arus when he didn't have a robeast ready. He had used the robeast on this ship during his mission to subdue a rebellion so his only defense was his guns. And he knew that guns would not be enough against Voltron.

"Any sign of Voltron?" he called out.

"No sir!"

"Sir! I have an incoming message from Haggar!" the communication officer called out.

"Onscreen," Yurak replied and turned to the viewer. "What do you need, Haggar! I don't want to be around when Voltron shows up!"

Haggar cackled and gave him her evil grin. "No worries about that today, Yurak. But I have set loose a robeast on the castle grounds. He needs magnifying." She cackled again.

"That's all?"

"No, I will need cover fire to dock with your ship. The sooner the better too." She glanced over her shoulder. "I have the Black Lion pilot and they will do whatever they can to keep me from leaving. And we cannot afford to lose him."

Yurak snorted and thought, More likely you can't afford to lose him. But he knew better than to voice such thoughts; he didn't want his one good eye to turn up in a jar in Haggar's lab. Cybernetic just wasn't the same. "You better be right about Voltron."

"Trust me," she cackled at the thought.

The screen went black and Yurak began issuing orders. "Bring our speed up to maximum atmospheric and ready the magnifying ray! Ready the cargo hold door to open only when Haggar is within range. We don't want some stray missile finding its way in there before she does or Voltron won't be needed. Gunners target the Castle missile defenses and any lion that may come into range!" Yurak's attention returned to screen and he saw that Haggar was indeed correct. There were only four lions in the air and they seemed unconcerned with the robeast on the castle grounds but that would soon change. "Fire the magnifier!"

.**********.

Lance's com sounded loudly as Coran called out, "Incoming Drule battle cruiser! Haggar is looking for cover and to perhaps dock. You can't let that happen!"

"We'll do our best!" Lance returned as he turned his lion in the direction of the incoming ship. They needed to damage the cargo areas so Haggar couldn't enter. There was still no sign of her or her cloaked ship. "Team, target the-" he stopped as a ray shot out of the cruiser toward the castle. "Hell, no," he said softly, recognizing the beam type. He didn't need Coran's words but they came through the communications system anyway.

"The yellow robeast has been magnified Lieutenant!" He paused, "Castle defenses are having problems targeting with the robeast so close!"

Lance pulled up a view of the Castle and saw the robeast actually had a hand… or paw, on the castle and was attempting to pull off the turret. "Damn it!" he called out. "Pidge and Allura, you try to disable the cruiser while we go clean up this robeast. Coran, evacuate the areas of the castle under attack!"

"Already done, Lieutenant. You are free to engage, but try to draw the thing away first if you can. The explosion from the death may damage the castle."

"Understood."

The lions separated and the Drule cruiser began targeting the approaching lions.

.**********.

"Haggar! Where are you?! Two lions are still coming for the Vengeance!" Yurak had managed to take his volume up another notch.

"As you know, the shielding technology isn't perfected, but I am not far behind the two lions approaching you. However, our transmissions may give them a chance to locate me. I will unshield after their initial pass and you will have to open the cargo door as soon as I unshield. They will do everything they can to prevent my departure except blow me up." Haggar's voice remained the same as usual. Hardly anything seemed to faze her.

The lions were almost to the Vengance. "Then I'll be sure to let them know that your ship is expendable."

"What?!" This time Haggar's voice held a note of uncertainty.

"You'll see. Lions preparing to engage. Fire!"

.**********.

Allura dodged the weapons fire and noted the starboard cargo bay door and fired off a couple of missiles. The shielding held but the distortion on the ship indicated that it was weakened as she turned to circle around.

"The starboard hold door is opening," Pidge said as he passed over the Vengeance taking fire along the way. "And there is a ship dropping shields behind us!"

"No!" Allura shouted as she turned the lion more sharply. She took several missiles to the back of her lion but stayed on course. "What are they doing!?" she cried out as the Vengeance targeted her. That didn't surprise her but they were using guns that put the small shuttle in the crossfire. She veered her ship sharply down which stopped the firing but also put her at a disadvantage. She fired her small caliber weapons but they bounced harmlessly off the ship's plating.

Pidge streaked down from above and managed to precisely hit the engines at the back of Haggar's vessel. It immediately started to smoke, and the ship listed slightly as the engine began to cut out. "Yes!" Pidge cried out but it was short-lived. The Vengeance immediately engaged a tractor beam and Yurak hailed them.

"Stand down, Lions! This is Commander Yurak. I have orders to either bring in this ship or destroy it. The choice is yours."

"You wouldn't! Haggar is on that ship!" Allura replied quickly.

.**********.

Yurak wasn't in the top echelon of Zarkon's commanders, but he wasn't low on the list either. He knew that Voltron was back and that the Prince of Arus was the pilot of a lion. So, he was willing to take a chance for if he was right, the rewards could be great.

"Do you really want to take a chance on the prince's life? Zarkon either wants the prince captive or dead. Haggar has one escape pod and she won't be using it on the prince." Yurak's tone was confident. He smiled as the lions disengaged and the small ship was pulled into the hold. "Wise choice."

Yurak turned to the navigator. "Fastest speed possible back to Doom. They may try to board us or force us to land before we can leave the atmosphere."

Haggar's voice sounded over the speakers. "I had thought you were foolish, Yurak, but your strategy worked. I'll be staying in my ship for the rest of the voyage. Please send some guards to help me with my prisoner when we reach the castle."

"Acknowledged," Yurak responded. He never liked going anywhere near Haggar if he could help it. He always felt like she was spider, eyeing him up for a meal. His gaze turned back to viewscreen which showed a backwards view. The lions had left. His smile returned. Zarkon would reward him well for bringing him the Prince of Arus.
