She dropped to the floor of the bathroom.
'No, not right now...'
Memories started exploding in her head. Her father - he might have been strict towards her, but he was always there for her, protecting her. He tried influencing Neji to be the same as him - not letting Hinata near guys, but things have changed.
Now Neji is the one taking care of her, protecting her and her beatiful smile. Not that she even smiles that often. At least not geniuenely. Neji couldn't bring himself to be strict towards his cousin. He wanted her to be happy. Nothing else.
But now, she needed her mother. More than anything or anyone. They weren't just a mother and daughter. They were best friends. Hinata always talked to her mom about girls stuff and share her troubles. But now that she is not here - there isn't even one friend to bear with her.
She thought she would be too annoying to people when she was trying to overcome the death of her parents. But you can't overcome it. You can just try and live with it. And that wasn't easy. There wasn't a single day that she didn't think of them. Hinata stopped crying as much, but sometimes - it just hits. The day they died - that was the day she lost not only them, but herself.
"Hinata, are you okay?" Neji knocked on the door. "What happened, are you hurt? The Uchihas will be going now, so...how about saying bye?"
But she couldn't show the others how she feels in moments like those. She couldn't just open the door and get into her cousin's arms and start crying. She was always shutting her emotions down. Almost perfectly in that matter.
Now the Hyuga girl had to fake her being okay, as always, or god knows what that stupid Uchiha would think and say to the others at school. Not like it mattered what he says, more how they will treat her after that. Hinata didn't want anyone feeling sorry for her or anything like that. She wanted to be normal, like the others.
"I'm fine." her voice was still a little shaky, but she got herself up, wiping her tears off.
She fixed her hair looking in the mirror. She put her small hand into a fist, letting out a big sigh. Sasuke deserved a punch. A real one. But now was not the time. She held herself together, splashing some water on her face and drying it. The bluenette opened the door finding Neji right in front of it.
"Your eyes are a little puffed..."
"I tried on a new mascara and I guess it's not good for my eyes."
Neji opened his mouth to say something, but words didn't come out. He knew his cousin better than she knew herself. Even if he was trying his best to change that habit of hers...it was probably pointless.
"Thank you for the delicious food. You can come to our house sometime!"Itachi said, pushing down the door knob to the front door.
The two brothers already had their jackets and shoes on, ready to leave. Then, Sasuke's look caught Hinata's. He noticed her eyes puffed and a little red.
"You are always welcome to have dinner with us!"Tenten replied and passed them a bag full of sweets.
"Oh, no, we can't"
"No, please take them." Neji smiled and his eyes turned to Sasuke's confused face. "We should get a beer sometimes. Just us, guys."
Itachi chuckled and he and his brother took some steps outside.
"Of course! Sasuke...say bye."
"Bye. Have a good night."
The adults waved to each other, and as Itachi shut the door closed, Neji focused back on his cousin.
"Do you want to talk?"
She shook her head.
"I'm okay."
Monday
Today the weather was a little bit warmer than usual. The christmas vacation was just around the corner and every student was excited about it. Christmas and New Years are always exciting. Spending time with family and friends, receiving and giving presents, eating delicious food... Who wouldn't love it?
For Sasuke, it was the perfect opportunity to be left alone for some days. New Years was a pain in the ass for him. Not just because he was forced to go, but because it was always too loud. More than it usually is.
"Morning, dumbo." Naruto greeted Sasuke who just entered the classroom.
"Morning, idiot."
Uchiha sat down on his seat, that was actually next to Naruto's.
Them sitting together was both a good, and a bad idea. Naruto was always chatting, when Sasuke was trying his best to focus in class, but at least they weren't sitting next to someone they didn't like.
"New Years is coming up." Naruto engaged a conversation that Sasuke wasn't too happy about."I invited the usuals. I'm still thinking about Hinata...she is a nice girl, don't ya think?"
"No, not at all."
"But you started going out with us more because of her."
"Yeah, to annoy her. I hate that chick."
Naruto laughed. It seemed funny and kinda weird. Right when he was about to continue on the conversation, Sakura walked to them, leaning towards Sasuke.
"Sasuke-kun? You didn't reply to my message. I apologized."
Didn't she say she hated him to Naruto? Why would she be bothered by the fact he didn't reply to her stupid apologize. If she wanted to apologize, she should have apologized face to face.
Naruto looked as confused as Sasuke did. Both guys couldn't understand what was going on with their classmate.
"I wasn't right. I shouldn't have...done that to you. I know it's impossible for you to like me, but...when I saw how you teased Hinata...I felt jealous and...acted...stupidly." she looked down at her school shoes, her voice begining to break."I'm sorry."
Yes, she was annoying, but still kind of a friend. Sasuke wasn't sure how to respond. Her hating him made Naruto so happy.
If he refuses to forgive Sakura, the New Year party would be too awkward with Sasuke there tho. And if Sasuke doesn't go - then Naruto won't go - so there will be no party. Or If there is a party - probably about 4 to 5 people would attend, just out of boredom.
It's not like Sasuke wanted to have a party, but his best friend - enjoyed it a lot.
"First of all - Hinata and I have nothing between each other, not that h of all - I forgive , I noticed you have been kinda...mad or sad lately. So if you need to talk, I am here."
"Me too!" Naruto joined the conversation, wearing his fake smile on his face.
What was that again? Sasuke actually letting a girl know that he is available for talk?Sakura seemed surprised by his answer and smiled, getting a chocolate out of her bag.
"I promise to stop...being the way I'm towards you and just be your friend."
He nodded and right after that, the school bell rang. As Sakura sat down at her desk, she started chatting with Ino with the biggest possible smile on her face. Apparently she thought Sasuke believed her, but he really didn' just acted so that she will leave him alone. Sakura was actually a good liar, but not so good to fool the Uchiha guy. Girls always lie straight to his face about many random things, trying to impress him. But Sasuke hardly ever gets impressed.
"Ah, what class are we having now again?" Naruto looked confused at the board, full of equations.
Maybe he was most impressed by Naruto's stupidity.
Hinata walked thru the corridor on her way to the school's nurse. It was the middle of her P.E. class, she got hit by a voleyball , right into her face, making her nose bleed. It was not a big deal, but Hinata hated P.E. The guys from her class were idiots, alwas talking about how which girl looked like in her sports uniform, and she was in centre of attention in this class - so a nose bleed was the perfect excuse to skip the rest of the class.
Hyuga had a great body, and only in P.E., it was actually appreciated. Usually no one would notice her nice breasts or butt hidden in her usual uniform. Most guys say they would definitely 'bang' her, if she was more friendly and all, but she actually hated this kind of attention.
"What happened?" a girl's voice startled Hyuga, when she was about to enter the nurse's office.
A girl appeared right behind her and it was Ino - Sakura's friend. Ino actually looked concerned when noticed all the blood coming out of Hinata's nose.
"I'm okay, Ino-chan. Just that stupid Kiba hit me by an accident...with a volleyball."
"Ah, the volleyball's team captain! Aaah, he so hot!" the blonde girl started dreaming about Kiba's god like body, covered in tats.
Hinata felt a little bit annoyed, but laughed at her words. For the Hyuga, Kiba was not even near to hot. He was a funny guy, but hot? No, not for her at least.
"He is still an ass for hitting you. Even by an accident." Ino continued.
Hinata shook her face and explained that she will be fine.
"Shouldn't you be in class?" Hinata asked.
"Oh, shit!"
Yamanaka girl immediately ran to the girls bathroom. Hinata guessed that's the reason Yamanaka was outside in the corridor in the middle of class.
As the nurse took care of Hinata's bleeding, Hyuga was actually enjoying the quietness and the soft bed at the office.
"Hinata, I have to go, a teacher messaged me to go to her classrom. You will be okay, right?"
Hinata nodded, getting up slowly from the said bed. She really didn't want to leave, but unfortunately she had to get back to catch at least the last 10 or 5 mins of P.E. so it won't be suspicious.
They both exited the door, parting their ways.
As Hinata was walking down the corridor on her way back, she noticed Sasuke sitting in the corridor in front of his classrom, reading a book. She was kind of interested in why he would just casually skip class and sit in front of the door, instead of going home, but that's when he closed the book and noticed Hyuga.
His face was hardly showing any emotion, but from the inside - his feelings were mixed up. Not only he lied to the teacher about not feeling good just to leave the room for a few minutes, but now a student from the other class saw him. And a student that would definetely tell the teacher about his lie.
"Hyuga." he looked at her, noticing what she was wearing.
The school's P.E. uniform included red tight shorts and a white t shirt with the school's name and logo on the back. Thru the white t shirt, Sasuke could see Hinata's white bra, hugging her breasts, which made him not only notice a girl's body for the first time, but him getting turned on by it. (In real life)
"What are you staring at, stupid Uchiha?" she crossed her arms in front of her, looking angered, trying to cover as much of her chest as she could.
Her long, soft looking legs made Sasuke wish he could feel them in his hands or get even better - get between them.
But all these thoughts didn't feel like Sasuke at all!
He hated Hinata and yet, he was imagining indecent things about her. Which was weird and surprising...
"Now that you are here." he got his bag opened, trying not to show how awkward and shy he felt at the moment.
Hinata looked intrigued.
"I know that...I was more rude than I should have been yesterday..." he stated.
"What?You shouldn't be rude in general...to anyone."
"Yeah. And I know we don't like each other, but I still shouldn't have...said that. Sorry."
Hinata was completely shocked by his words, and even more when he got a cat plush out of his bag.
"It's black. Like your soul." she joked and took it in her hand. "It's cute."
"Is that everything you are going to say?"
"Huh? You were the mean one, not me. I guess you don't need me to forgive you or anything since you probably think you are better than me."
"That's not...okay, you know what...Come to the New Years party with me and the others. You will see how wrong you are about me."
Hinata was more than confused. Why would he feel the need to suddenly prove himself to her?
"I have plans." she refused.
The truth was, she actually didn't have any different plans that the usual. Hinata just didn't want to spend her New Years that her it was best to spend that day with Neji's family. They were the closest people to her and she couldn't just leave them all by themselves...right? Besides, that party would be full of drama anyways.
New years, christmas, Valentine's day...Those days were famous with the drama coming with them. Love confessions, broken hearts, broken families, truths coming out, drunk people...many things Hinata wanted to avoid.
Sasuke seemed a little dissapointed by Hyuga's answer, but still didn't want to be insolent, so he just opened up the door to his classrom and left Hyuga standing in the corridor.
He got angry at the situation. That was the first time he acts that way towards a girl, and she didn't even want to appreciate it, or accept his invitation to the New Years party. Every other girl would be happy to receive that attention from him. The Uchiha just couldn't get she really hate him that much? Did he hurt her that bad the other day at her cousin's house with his words?
'Damn it, why does she have to be that way...' he thought to himself, taking his seat, getting back into class, trying to move his focus on the subject - but just coudln't.
Was she different from the other girls, or just an ass?
