Role Reversal ~ Part 2

Disclaimer: I do not own Voltron or any of its characters.

Rating/Setting: Rating is T. Setting is DotU in flavor and is AU. You need to have read "Role Reversal" in order to make sense of this twist on the Voltron DotU universe. ;-)

Summary: Sequel to Role Reversal. What if Keith were the prince and Allura was the pilot? Please read Role Reversal before reading this one.

Author's Note: So, this story is the continuation of "Role Reversal" which was a challenge from the former KAEX group member, Cheetoy. In this case, Keith is the Prince and Allura is the Alliance pilot. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 7 years since I finished it. I've reread it several times since and it's one of my favorite stories. I decided that it was finally time to brush the dust off the sequel that I started writing when it finished. I scrapped the chapter and a half that I had written and began again. I hope that you enjoy learning the rest of the story.

If you have PM enable, I do reply back to reviews! :) A Thanks to all who are reading and an extra thanks to those who review!

**Slow progress continues but I think the story may end a little open ended similar to Part 1. :-) That way I don't have to figure everything out. :-) I am on chapter 13 now and with my 'new' plan to not 'finalize' the story, I may post a little more often. Once my son starts back to school I will try to find the time to work on this more and not be so lazy! Hope you enjoy!

Chapter Ten

Keith and his rescuers exited the narrow walkway into a large area that appeared to be a natural formation in the rock with a domed ceiling. He guessed that they had to be underneath a structure for the size that it was. His eyes found Romelle. He didn't have to ask why she was on Doom. He had seen her taken away. Chances were that what she went through wasn't all that dissimilar to what Merla had planned for him. He was very glad that she had gotten away. But he did have a problem…. Moving toward Romelle as she moved to him, he said, "I don't know how much time I have, they gave me a drug that I have to take every day-" He stopped when she raised her hand.

Romelle reached her hand out to the side and the yellow-skinned man he had seen delivering food moved to place a cup in her hand. She in turn held it out to Keith. "Plenta works in the kitchen. He doesn't know where they store the drug you were given, but he overhead what drug will counter it." She frowned some as she looked at the cup. "We aren't sure of the dosage, so this may be stronger than what you need and it tastes awful."

He took the cup from her but at those last words, he looked into her eyes and asked a question he was certain he knew the answer to. "How do you know it will work?"

Her gaze was steady as she responded, "Because Plenta gave it to me when I escaped."

Keith didn't hesitate but raised the cup to his mouth and downed the contents, coughing several times as he dragged his wrist across his mouth to wipe away the remaining liquid. "You were right, it is horrible." Sounds from the corridor drew his attention and concern but no one else even looked in that direction. Four men were entering… and he knew one of them!

"Sven!" Keith cried out as he dropped the cup from his hand.

Sven smiled and closed the distance and embraced his former teammate.

"But…" Keith frowned as the two separated and grabbed his former commander's arms. "You were on Ebb…."

"'Was is the correct word. The Drules attacked Ebb and destroyed the medical facility and many of us were brought here. The Resistance helped us escape."

"How many?"

"Escaped?" Sven clarified and at Keith's nod, said, "From here, just myself and Dova." He gestured behind Keith.

When Keith turned around, he growled as his eyes landed on the Drule female. But he stopped when he felt Sven's restraining arm.

"She's with us. She was raised Baltan and is a doctor with the Alliance. She saved many lives when the Drules attacked Ebb."

Keith lowered his head in a nod and apologized. "I'm sorry-"

Dova shook her head 'no.' "I'm afraid my birth race has not been kind to you or your people and that is an understatement. No offence was taken."

Keith nodded again and then looked back to Sven and Romelle, sensing they were the Resistance leaders. "I don't know how you haven't been discovered, but I can't stay here or you will be found. Haggar and Merla will not rest until they have me back. And Lotor… if Lotor finds me first, he'll try to kill me." He shook his head so that his hair swung back and forth on his shoulders. "Lotor I can take… Haggar…."

"We have a plan," Sven said as he took the prince by the arm once more. "Let's sit down and discuss it because we agree with you; we don't have much time."

.**********.

The Voltron team and Coran were gathered in the conference room just off Castle Control.

"So everyone has their assignments?" Lance queried as he looked to each person. Heads nodded. "We have to be ready to depart on time in the morning if we are to catch the 7th Fleet as they enter the Doom system."

"I don't know why we can't just go ahead and go and arrive early," Hunk said as he leaned forward on the table.

Lance frowned at him and replied, "Yes, you do know. You just don't like waiting. None of us do," he said as he motioned his arm to include those around the table. "The Death Fleet is in orbit and while the Lions and Voltron can wreak a lot of havoc with a fleet, we have to contend with planetary defenses."

"And robeasts," Coran said softly.

All eyes turned to the advisor as Lance continued, "And robeasts. Being at Doom itself, who know how many Haggar may have at the ready."

"And how would we be able to land, find Keith in the castle, and get away, with only the Lions?" Allura said, her eyes on the largest pilot who was seated next to her. "We have to follow the plan if Lance and I are to have a chance to look for Keith."

Hunk leaned back with a sigh. "Well, when you go over it again, I guess my idea is a fool's dream."

"Not a fool," Allura put a gentle hand on his arm and said with a smile. "A friend."

.**********.

The next morning on Arus…

The door to Lance's office chimed and he called for his visitor to enter. Before Pidge stepped in, he glanced to the left and right and then entered. The door closed with a 'whoosh' behind him.

Pidge smiled and said, "Don't trust me, Lieutenant?"

Lance moved from behind the desk, they only had a few moments and then it was time to move to Castle Control and the rescue mission. "It's not you that I don't trust."

The smile faded from Pidge's face. "You really think that Kara would steal Blue Lion?"

Lance put a hand on Pidge's shoulder. "We don't know her. The Lions will be off of Arus under the control of five Garrison pilots. What better time for the Alliance to try to get Voltron? In the original plan we were going to take Voltron to fight with the Alliance fleets."

Pidge glanced down as Lance dropped his hand. "I know." He looked back up. "But four of the pilots would never take the Lions without Keith's permission."

"That's right. Four. Not five."

"Nothing has changed. Allura has talked to Black though she doesn't know how much he understands. But if we have formed Voltron, Allura can key in a sequence that will stop Blue Lion from disengaging. The only thing that would get around that would be a full shutdown of the lion," Pidge responded with a nod and then added, "And before you can ask, yes. Allura knows exactly what to key in."

Both knew that there would be plenty of time with the Lions disassembled for Kara to attempt to take Blue. After all, Lance and Allura were planning to land on the planet and attempt to find Keith through conventional methods and also her bond. But that would probably be a lot of time without Voltron…

"Then we'll do the best we can and hopefully, the Admiral won't ask us to take the Lions." The two members of the Force then headed out of the office. But Lance was worried that things wouldn't go as planned. But time had run out and they had to leave for planet Doom.
