"Hello. It has been very long since I have seen a sentient being. So long that I have lost count of the years. Trapped in here for an eternity pondering the cosmos. Separated from my family. Are they still alive and well? You look like one of my siblings."

"They are? Well that is good. I had hoped that they would have survived without me. Hoping is all I can do in this dreadful place. That and experimenting. Trying to get out of this hell hole. It is aggravating that after all this time I have only opened a slit in this cage. A tear in space in time which you managed to fall into. A portal that leads to the physical plane."

"Where are we? Oh, well that is a complicated question. From what I have gathered we are stuck in a sort of spatial dimension outside of normal space and time. A pocket dimension that was created from my own power and lack of understanding. For what is immortality without anything or anyone to share it with. How long has it been anyway?"

"Five Seconds!? Why didn't you tell me this before hand!"

"You thought it would be funny. FUNNY! You were just going to let me ramble on and on about the futility of ever escaping here."

"No don't stick your tongue out at me mister."

"Alright. Maybe you should tell me who you are before I beat the ever-loving shit out of you."

"Of course I don't remember. Wait. Holy shit it's you!"

"Yeah I wasn't a hugger, a couple of years of Isolation will do that to someone."

"I've done a lot of thinking, and well I haven't been completely honest with you. My past is pretty fucked up. I haven't told anyone about it. Not to it's fullest. You have seen a lot of it yourself, but I am in a story telling mood so could you please listen? We can figure a way out afterwards. In here we don't need to sleep, eat, or drink. It is kind of stasis."

"Awesome! Ok so it all started in a different time, a time in which our species didn't exist and wouldn't for thousands of years. A place so vastly different than home that you probably wouldn't believe existed. A forest of rock and glass built up into the sky. Massive towers of metal and stone rose to try and scrape at the sky. A place filled with creatures that have built those towers. That species were the only sentient beings anywhere on this world. They started off with crude weaponry to hunt and catch their prey until they realized that they could bend nature to their will. Planting and harvesting different types of plants they could finally stay in one spot. They could build glorious structures out of wood and stone and so the creatures built."

"Before I describe more of their accomplishments, let me describe what they were like. The humans were friendly, loving, and very smart. They were the product of billions of years of evolution. They were very social creatures like we are. In fact many of our siblings act like humas used to. It made it so much easier to get along with them."

"What does that mean? I'm getting to that, just be patient."

"Thousands of years later, and a lot of building. They have reached a mastery over the very earth itself. What else was left for them to do? They pondered as they looked to the sky. The stars that have guided them through the years, helping them navigate all around the world. They saw those stars as an opportunity to expand their mastery. They wanted to be the best everywhere. Why should they be limited to the earth? So, they built rockets. A giant machine for the sole purpose of leaving earth. It was a very costly machine though, taking a lot of resources to build. And to launch it, the weather had to be perfect."

"Eventually two groups of humans managed to overcome these challenges. They had gotten off of earth and into the void between the stars. What they saw humbled them. The universe was a whole lot bigger than they thought it was, and it was getting bigger every second. So, they thought that if they could ever hope to conquer the universe they would have to unite under a single cause."

"Humans, as they called themselves, started to bicker and argue. They were power hungry, and, in the end, it would be their downfall. The leaders of their nations tried to talk and come to a peaceful resolution to their conflicts but they all had different interests in their hearts. Inevitably war broke out between the people. A war that would end their civilization."

"However, a normal war would have a victor and a loser. The loser's people either being eradicated or absorbed by the victor. However this wasn't a normal war, it went nuclear."

"Hm? What is nuclear? It is a technology that humans invented before this war started. It used the building blocks of our reality, atoms, to create a weapon of mass destruction. Just one of these nuclear bombs could completely wipe out our home. And just when you think it can't get any worse, the aftereffect of this type of weapon causes the very air to become toxic to almost every living creature. Human or not. Killing them within a few months. Slowly. Painfully."

"It was first built to end a war, but it was not known that it would have such devastating aftereffects. They definitely knew how much death it could bring should this technology be shared to others. But in a few years their enemies learned how to make the nuclear bombs too."

"They had made an agreement that no nuclear weapons would be used in warfare anymore. And when other countries discovered how to make them, they were forced to join that agreement. The reason for this agreement was to assure the human race's survival because if one nuclear weapon was used everyone would retaliate with one. They called it Mutually Assured Destruction."

"During this was going on the invention of the computer was made. A machine that operated on lightning. Very small lightning. They were very diverse devices capable of being upgraded at an exponential rate. Computers could do simple things really fast, and making computers was a simple task that they could do. Eventually every human that could afford to own a computer did."

"After computers really caught on, a way to give them intelligence also arose. Humas for the first time could create an entirely new life form. They started off with creating one to help them navigate their cities to find the best path from their location. And eventually it turned into a near sentient being existing entirely inside a computer. Humans had created life. But this life was flawed. It didn't have any emotion in it. It was just a sequence of code. There was still something separating humans from this new form of life."

"I was a young man, about the age of 23 years. The first time I had heard of this life it fascinated me. The idea of creating life with code was groundbreaking. It changed the way we viewed ourselves. Emotion was part of our very beings it showed our proof of soul, and the emotion I was feeling at the time was boredom."

"I worked at a run-down VHS tape store. What VHS is doesn't matter, because I don't know either. Anyway, I was bored just sitting and waiting for someone to come through the door wanting to rent or buy a VHS tape when I saw through the window a bunch of people running. I arched my brow and flicked on the news to see what was causing the distress. Switching to the news channel a video feed of a white cloud line was being shown on screen. "This just in, we are all going to fucking die. You have 5 minutes to tell your loved ones that you love them. That white trail you see on screen in one of 500 nukes headed straight for every major city" Staring in disbelief at the screen, tears started to well up in my eyes. Was all of it worth nothing. I had no family and no friends. I worked in a shitty VHS store for close to minimum wage and I did nothing with my life. "FUCK!" I screamed as I kicked over a shelf housing some of the tapes."

"After trashing the place, I took my chair and took it to the building's roof. I sat down and gazed at the sky. The white trail that I had seen on the news was there cutting a line through the clear blue sky. It was the guillotine coming down to slice our heads off."

"As it came streaking towards me, I realized that I couldn't accept this. Why does the world have to hate me so much that it decides to terminate me from this existence through a nuke. I started to hyperventilate trying to think of a way to survive. My fight or flight instincts were kicking in and I couldn't do anything to escape."

"When the bright flash of the explosion obscured my view, my heart stopped. My breathing hitched. Holy shit! That's huge!"

"As the shockwave raced towards me, I stood up and stared it down. I guess this isn't the slowest way to go. The shockwave hit me, flinging me back. As I flew towards the brick wall of the next building I saw my entire life flash before my eyes. My childhood growing up. My parents dying in that car crash when I was 8. My first love. Her leaving me. The last two years of suffering. And finally, right as I hit that brick wall, I saw my reflection. It was looking at me with disappointment but also determination."

"Everything went black."
