Firstly, Merry Christmas. Holidays delayed everything, and I had been hoping to get this out earlier. Oh, well, what can you do? This chapter had a weird turn, but I think it worked out well. Mostly, the amount of comedy in this chapter was a lot more than I originally planned. There's a lot going on outside the actual dream fun. Jaune's getting character development, gaining friends, and just having a fun time in school. All while trying to figure out how his dream Semblance works. One day, he'll figure it out and be able to really maximize his fun. Assuming he doesn't take advantage of anyone.
Guest, I think a tomato bridge would be quite useful.
Chuck, love your interpretations. Keep it up.

Teams JNPR and RWBY decided to join each other for dinner that evening, a common occurrence between the sister teams. However, there was a certain palpable tension within the air. On each side, there was a single member glaring at the other. Neither was giving in as their silent argument weighed over the table.
Jaune and Blake's eyes were locked onto one another's, lips tightly pursed as the two ate their food. Ruby had glanced over towards Pyrrha for any kind of hint as to what was going on between the two, but the crimson-haired champion could only offer a solemn shrug in response, as she, too, was in the dark.
Yang, for her part, was almost certain that the two had gotten into some kind of fight after going out. She had wanted to ask Blake if Jaune and her friend were really dating or not, and to confirm if this was in fact a lover's quarrel, but Ruby and Weiss had told her not to. If the two were dating, then Blake would tell her team when she was ready, and not a moment sooner. This outcome was unavoidable to Yang if those two had started dating. They were completely different personality wise.
After what felt like an eternity of awkwardness with the boy and girl glaring daggers at each other, one finally decided to break the silence.
"Have you realized that you're wrong yet?" Jaune asked at last.
"I'm not wrong," Blake hissed dangerously, as if it was a sin to suggest that. "You're just stuck in your own warped little reality!"
"Uh… guys?" Ruby interrupted nervously, fidgeting in her seat. "Why are you fighting?" She was the only one brave enough to ask what everyone else at the table was wondering.
"We're not," the two answered, perfectly in sync with one another, not averting their gazes for even a second.
"Seriously…?" Weiss nearly facepalmed at the two's joint declaration. Her head was starting to ache from the sheer idiocy of the scene in front of her. "What is going on with the two of you right now?"
Yang, in all her infinite wisdom, managed to keep her mouth shut, if only because she had promised her sister. That didn't change the fact that she really, really wanted to shout out the obvious answer forming on the tip of her tongue for all to hear.
"This is all because Jaune doesn't understand basic chemistry—" Blake explained, lips settling to a smug grin, a smirk that broadcast her less than stellar mood.
"Wrong—" Jaune almost immediately countered, arms crossed. "This is because Blake does understand the chemistry of the pairings, but is far too stubborn to admit that I'm right about it!"
"Did you even read Ninjas of Love correctly, or did you just skim?!" The girl in question shot right back.
The table went silent.
"Wait a second…" Pyrrha blinked and looked between her leader and the raven-haired girl. "This argument is about a… a book?"
Neither answered her. Instead, all hell broke loose, as the two started arguing with full force.
"You're completely missing the underlying romantic tones and desires between both characters!" Blake hissed once more, hands slamming on the table.
"Every single one of the female characters in the series has that!" Jaune shook his head and glared back angrily. "The fact is, through the plot, those two are completely inseparable, constantly overcoming hardship together, while pulling each other up!"
"Everyone says that, but that doesn't make it right!" Blake exclaimed in exasperation. "People just jump on the bandwagon!"
"Hah!" Jaune jumped up from out of his seat and pointed at her. "And there it is, everybody! You just don't like it because it's popular! Not because you disagree! You're a contrarian!"
"How dare you!" Blake's eyes flashed dangerously as she stood up and Jaune realized he might have made a mistake. At the same time, he wasn't going to back down. He could always leap behind Pyrrha for protection. "That's the biggest insult you can say to any avid reader! I don't support them because while the author is putting them together for the plot, they aren't the best couple!"
"You know what sinks ships? Canon!" Jaune crossed his arms and smugness oozed from him. "That's right, Blake. I caught up in the series! Hah!"
"So that's what he was reading earlier," Pyrrha realized, as Weiss' head hit the table from the sheer stupidity emitting from her teammate and the blonde boy. Ruby and Yang were both cracking up, trying to hold back their laughter as their faces turned red.
"Shipping is serious business," Nora commented sagely, as Ren nodded from beside her. They weren't getting involved in this fight. Normal for Ren, but Nora usually loved jumping into these kinds of arguments. Usually making them worse.
"Oh, that reminds me." While Blake did eventually sit back down and seemed calmer, she was still glaring at Jaune and didn't seem to be planning to stop anytime soon. "I ran into Velvet at the library and mentioned our book club. She's interested in joining."
"Sure, the more the merrier," Jaune answered, keeping his eyes locked with hers as he too sat down. "But you do know that it's my turn to choose the book and you are going to read a couple comic books. I think the first couple issues would be fair as they are still shorter than most novels. I can even lend you the first few."
"I did warn her…" Blake seemed to pout slightly as she recalled her meeting with rabbit Faunus girl. "Seems like she does enjoy superhero comics…"
The smugness just oozed out of Jaune as he forcefully kept his lips pressed together to avoid saying anything.
"Wait!" Ruby sat up and swiveled her head toward Jaune. "You're lending them? You don't lend me your first issues."
"Because I've seen how you and Yang treat your books," Jaune told her. "I'm fine with you reading them in my room, but my first issue is a collectors item. Last thing I need is soda spilled on it."
"HEY!" Ruby and Yang protested.
"A fair assessment," Weiss agreed, nodding at Jaune. He grinned at her and she felt herself smiling back. Oddly, it felt kind of nice being his friend now that he wasn't going to ask her out randomly. She wasn't sure why, but it was kind of like being friends with Ruby. They were a lot alike, so it made sense to some degree.
"What if I want to join your club then to read them?" Ruby crossed her arms and pouted.
"You're welcome to join," Blake finally tore her eyes away from Jaune. "But be warned… we alternate who chooses the book and they will not all be comics. If you join, you have to be willing to read all the books."
"Blake…" Yang narrowed her eyes. "Are you planning to corrupt Ruby with your smut literature?"
"It's not smut!" Blake's cheeks tinged pink in embarrassment and a little anger.
"We do try to select literature for the group and Blake has plenty of good novels to choose from that don't have adult scenes." Blake spun around in surprise as Jaune spoke up in her defense. They had just been arguing a moment before and now he was helping her. Pyrrha and Nora had told her team in the past that Jaune never held grudges. That seemed to be the case here.
"I'm an adult, I can handle filth!" Ruby protested. "Weiss, join me so I have someone who will back me up!"
"But I agree with those two." Weiss pointed her fork at Blake and Jaune.
"Traitor!" Laughter erupted from the table at the young girl's antics.
"However…" Weiss continued, looking thoughtful. "It does seem interesting, and I won't say no to some intellectual discussions over literature. I'm not a fan of comic books, so I'd like to join after that."
"Comic books are real literature, and like with Blake, I will make you realize that too," Jaune declared.
"Good luck with that," Weiss and Blake spoke up together in a moment of solidarity.
Meanwhile, Nora was nudging Pyrrha in the side as she spoke in a soft voice.
"Join them."
"I don't want to intrude," Pyrrha whispered back. "I don't think I have enough free time with everything going on to keep up reading novels anyways."
Nora sighed and looked towards Ren for support, but he shook his head ever so slightly. They could recommend stuff for Pyrrha but she also had to take the initiative on her own. Jaune and Blake were the type to let anyone join if they wanted to. At the same time, they probably wouldn't ask others because it would seem like they were being pushy. All Pyrrha would have to do is ask. The problem was Pyrrha tended to just follow what others wanted to do. If she showed any interest at all, Jaune would pick up and invite her instantly.
Pyrrha just sat there listening.
"Oh, Jaune!" Ruby looked at him. "Are we still on for training tonight?"
"Training…? Oh right!" Jaune blinked. "Sure, Ruby. We have some time after some team practice. See you around 9?"
"Training?" Yang asked. "This some team leader thing you two do?"
"Er… yep!" Ruby lied quickly, fooling no one with how sheepish she looked. Nora and Pyrrha were giggling as they knew what the young girl was doing. To hide her embarrassment, she turned back to Jaune. "Don't flake on me. I don't care if you're tired."
"I'll be ready, pinkie promise." Jaune held out his hand and Ruby laughed, wrapping her own pinkie around his. Pyrrha looked at them with a little longing in her bright green eyes. While the others at the table noticed what they did, Pyrrha wasn't the only one really staring at those two..
Weiss' eyes widened as her gaze was locked on the gesture. She could swear she never saw the gesture before, but at the same time, she knew what it was. Her mind raced trying to figure out where she knew it from. Finally, it came to her. Fuzzy, but she was sure it was from that dream last night. That didn't make any sense though. Winter never taught her that tomfoolery and she never saw Ruby do it before.
What did this mean?
"So… tired…" Jaune collapsed on his bed after their team training. He had about an hour before Ruby would arrive to rest up and be ready to play. "Where does Nora get all that energy? Actually, what about Ren? He keeps up with her!"
"They have been together a long time, so I assume Ren knows how to conserve his strength," Pyrrha giggled, sitting down on her own bed across from him. "Nora is just Nora. Endless bundle of excitement. Would you want her to change?"
"Not really, even if sometimes I wish she won't break so much stuff sometimes," Jaune laughed. "But hey, at least she always lightens the mood. Plus she volunteered to restock our snacks."
"That was nice of her," Pyrrha agreed, sounding worried. "I hope they aren't out too late on a school night though. We do have classes tomorrow and she'll get in trouble if she's sleeping in them again."
"Ren's with her," Jaune assured his partner. "He needed some stuff for those weird smoothies… health drinks… poisonous liquid… he drinks." Pyrrha snorted and then covered her mouth as her face briefly matched her hair.
"I've been wondering something, Jaune." Pyrrha gathered the courage to ask the question she had been wondering since dinner. It had led to her being distracted during their training and caused her to get hit a few more times than she would have normally.
"What's up?" Jaune turned his head so he was looking directly at her as he laid there.
"When did you and Weiss become so close?" Pyrrha's heart was beating wildly, afraid of the answer, but she had to know.
"Oh, I apologized to her earlier for constantly asking her out after she said no and we agreed to giving friendship a try." Jaune grinned triumphantly. "That's a lot better than having her hate me, I guess."
"So… have you… er… given up on her?" Pyrrha couldn't ignore this question in her mind and blurted it out.
"I don't know, honestly." Jaune sat up and scratched his head, the smile slipping off his face. "I guess I'm glad we can be friends, but feelings don't really just vanish like that. I still like her… but I don't want to bother her when she's not interested in me that way."
"I see… if it's any consolation Jaune, you're a wonderful person," Pyrrha stood up and put her hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure you'll find the person you're meant to be with."
"Thanks, Pyrrha." Jaune smiled up at her. "You're really the best partner anyone could ask for." Pyrrha felt her body get hot and fidgeted, when Jaune frowned. "Is your shoulder okay?"
"My shoulder?" Pyrrha paused for a moment as she processed his words. "What do you mean?"
"When Nora accidently hit you during training." Jaune elaborated, pointing to her left arm. "That had to have hurt and I thought I saw you cradle it a bit afterwards."
"It's a little sore, but Aura will heal it up," Pyrrha brushed off the fact she got injured. At the same time, the girl's heart skipped a beat. Her team leader was really attentive to her. Maybe Nora was right and she should ask to join that book club. She could make time for that activity, probably.
"Want me to give you a shoulder massage?" Jaune offered, breaking into the girl's thoughts.
"W-what?!" Pyrrha stammered, completely taken aback.
"I used to give them to one of my sisters all the time because she kept getting hurt in spots," Jaune laughed. "Not to brag, but I'm told I'm pretty good."
"I don't really need it…" Pyrrha gulped, remembering Nora encouraging her to take the first step. "But… if you're offering."
Pyrrha sat down on the floor next to Jaune's bed as he began to rub her shoulders. She was a little nervous at this intimate activity. The moment Jaune's hands began to sink into her shoulder, the champion regretted nothing, even embarrassment slipped away. It just felt so good and warmth spread through her body. Her eyes closed as she leaned back, letting Jaune work his magic.
"Feeling better?" Jaune asked, glad he could do something for his partner. Pyrrha was the best teammate he could have asked for. Training at night,, helping with homework, and even joining in on the extra team exercise to keep him company. That girl did so much for him and he wanted to return the favor.
"Uh huh…" Pyrrha sighed groggily.
"You know, you don't have to constantly act tough and invincible in front of us," Jaune told her. "If you're tired or hurt, let us know. We care about you, Pyr."
"I guess… I've always had to do that," Pyrrha admitted softly, opening her eyes and looking up. "My manager always said I had to constantly smile and keep my feelings to myself. If I said the wrong thing, it might alienate fans. Same with injuries. Some opponents would try to take advantage of any of my weak points."
"Must be tough being a celebrity," Jaune's voice was full of sympathy. "Though I'm still ashamed I didn't recognize you."
"Don't be, I was actually quite happy that you treated me so… normally." Pyrrha couldn't help giggling at the memory. "Weiss was so upset at you for being oblivious though."
"I wasn't trying to make her blow up." Jaune shook his head in angst as he remembered it too. "But with what I was saying… if you ever need someone to listen to you, I'm here. You don't have to pretend to be invincible. I know you're strong already. Even if you just want to vent like you let me do occasionally, I'll be here."
"I…" The words were caught in Pyrrha's throat for a moment. "...appreciate that a lot, Jaune. I really do."
"Hmm…" Jaune felt like Pyrrha was still hiding something. What could he do to make her open up to him? Make her laugh? That might work, but he needed an idea how. His eyes fell on his Scroll and he instantly knew what to do. "Pyrrha… want to see something?"
"What is it?" Pyrrha asked. When Jaune got up to retrieve his surprise, she actually felt a little disappointed he stopped rubbing her shoulders. Whoever told him he was good at massages lied. Jaune was amazing.
"A picture my sisters sent me," Jaune's cheeks were red. "She found the old family photo albums and sent me a few. This is a secret though." Pyrrha's ears twitched in excitement as he sat down on the bed. "This is one I think you'll get a kick out of."
Pyrrha's eyes traveled to the scroll.
"... snrk… heh… HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Pyrrha doubled over where she sat and burst out laughing.
"I thought you would like that." Jaune wanted to be embarrassed, but seeing his partner in such high spirits kept him in a good mood.
It was a picture of Jaune a couple years ago, back when his sisters begged him to wear a really frilly blue dress. He of course rocked the look but it was still embarrassing. Normally this photo would have never seen the light of day, but Pyrrha was pretty much family to him already, so he didn't feel bad sharing it. There were a lot more embarrassing ones that his sister hadn't sent, as she still had some tact. She just sent the cute ones. Even if Jaune was a kid, being a 13 year old boy in a dress was still a big deal.
"I'm sorry…!" Pyrrha covered her mouth. "You're just so cute!"
"I don't think the dress suited me though," Jaune continued, trying not to laugh at her expression. His partner was trying to be considerate and failing miserably. "It showed too much cleavage."
At that point, Pyrrha broke down and fell back onto the side of the bed, laughing hysterically. Jaune grinned to himself as he seemed to have fixed whatever was bothering her. The boy reached down and poked her side to get her attention, as it didn't look like she was going to calm down anytime soon.
It was then another spark appeared between his finger and Pyrrha.
One that was impossible to ignore as Jaune was literally staring right at it.
As if a lightswitch in his head clicked, he remembered the last two times he saw it. The first time was with Blake. She had noticed it more than he did and even commented on it. At the time, it was assumed to be static electricity. The second time was with Weiss. Jaune had actually seen the small spark and realized it couldn't have been static. A third time was no coincidence. Not only that, now that he thought about it, after the first two sparks, that night he had invaded his friends' dreams. Could the spark have something to do with his power?
'Is this my Semblance connecting to them, like sending a receiver?'
Tonight that question would be answered. If he slipped into Pyrrha's dream, then he would know how his Semblance worked. Avoiding physical contact would help prevent unwanted dream invasion. As interesting as these dreams were, they were his friends' secrets and Jaune felt bad seeing them. Controlling his power to limit accidents would be preferable. Then he could talk to his team or Ruby to see if they would be willing to help him learn about and how to control it.
After Pyrrha finally stopped laughing and composed herself, Jaune finished giving her a massage. Ruby eventually showed up a little later to practice her gaming skills. She was getting really good and soon would be able to surprise her sister. Pyrrha just watched, as one of her biggest weaknesses was video games. She had trouble on the easiest levels. While her team would always bring her in when they played games as a group, Pyrrha didn't want to get in the way of Jaune teaching Ruby.
It was actually hard to fall asleep that night, as Jaune kept turning over in his bed. Nervousness overwhelmed him as he thought about seeing Pyrrha's dream. Looking over at his partner, she seemed to be deep asleep without a care in the world, while he was still wide awake. Jaune sighed and tried to relax. Regardless of what happened, the answer would reveal itself. Maybe there was a rational explanation for that spark relating to Aura.
Eventually, darkness overtook his mind and he fell into a deep sleep.
Until the thunderous sound of cheering woke him up.
Jaune's eyes shot open and he stood up. Looking out into the bright light, he was no longer in his bed, but had been sitting on a gold throne with red cushions. Two guards in red and gold armor were standing on either side of him holding spears. Was he a prisoner? It didn't appear so. Jaune was currently standing in a place of honor. The guards didn't react at all to him and he walked to the edge of the balcony he was on before looking down.
It was a giant stone coliseum with thousands of people of all ages cheering in the stands. In the middle of the arena was Pyrrha, fighting what looked to be twenty Beowolves. The Grimm swarmed her but Pyrrha wouldn't let something like that stop her. Jaune knew that all too well. She leaped above one, slashed a second, tossed her shield that bounced off another's face before colliding with two others, finally throwing her spear into the chest of another one. Almost as if she was dancing, Jaune's partner effortlessly took out all twenty of the Grimm.
The crowd exploded into cheers and applause as some announcer's voice echoed over the area. Where it came from, Jaune didn't bother to try to find the source. It was a dream and intercom systems in an ancient coliseum were hardly as crazy as other stuff he had seen.
"The champion defeated the monsters again with ease! It's now time for the main event!"
"Cool!" Jaune cheered with the crowd, before grabbing the edge of the balcony eagerly. "Finally, a fun dream!" While ones like Goodwitch's and Weiss' dreams were deep and insightful, they were depressing. Nightmares were not fun for anyone. He was fine with not participating in the actual fights, as this was like watching a live sporting event from the skyboxes. "And looks like I was right! This is Pyrrha's dream!"
In his eagerness, Jaune's Aura started to flare up and the two guard's turned their heads to look at him.
"Today, our kingdom's champion will be facing the three champions from the other kingdoms!" The announcer declared, filling everyone with excitement. "The first hails from the far north. Her ice powers are capable of freezing all her enemies solid… The Snow Angel herself! Weiss Schnee!"
Jaune's mouth dropped open as he saw Weiss walk out from a side tunnel into the area.
Or at least Pyrrha's dream version of Weiss.
Weiss was always a very beautiful girl. Her snow white hair and porcelain skin attracted a lot of attention. This girl was even more beautiful. An almost ethereal radiance. That might also have been caused by two white wings from her back that seemed to dull the colors of everything around her. Every step she took caused ice to form on the ground. Her outfit was much more revealing too, with a low cut V-cut dress and a high thigh slit on her white dress. Looking up, she raised a hand and the crowd cheered and clapped.
"Does Pyrrha like Weiss?" Jaune muttered, examining the goddess-like girl. Her beauty was far beyond what a normal person would think when seeing her. "They do talk now and then, but I can't recall them doing anything resembling a date."
"The second champion, hailing from the lands far to the east, the Sage, Blake Belladonna!"
Blake walked forward out of another tunnel toward the center of the coliseum. Unlike her normal tight fitting clothes, she was wearing a long black robe and a witch's hat of the same color. In her hands was a thick leather book. For some reason, she had a pair of glasses similar to Glynda. Her expression was the same stoic one Jaune was used to, when they weren't arguing about proper romantic pairings.
"Huh, is that some secret fetish of Pyrrha?" Jaune wondered, not sure what to think of that. "Probably best not to think about it too much."
"The last champion, but certainly not the least, the Gamer, Ruby Rose!"
If Jaune had been drinking something, he would have done a spit take.
The Ruby that walked into the coliseum was a couple years older, taller, and more filled out. Or she might have just appeared that way as she was wearing a super tight, red and black, latex bodysuit. In her hand was a remote. What it was for was answered a second later. Pressing a button, there was a crash as a robotic battle suit came lumbering forward. The machine was almost as twice as tall as Ruby, bipedal, with its two arms ending in blasters, colored in black and red of course. It was wide and the front panel was transparent, showing a cockpit for Ruby to sit in.
'Okay, Pyrrha's dreaming too much about game characters. Maybe playing all those video games before bed with Ruby in front of Pyrrha is affecting her dream. Can't lie though. This fight is going to be epic.'
If those four were fighting for real, Jaune would have stepped in, or at least tried to. This was only a dream and might as well be a sparring match. They fought constantly in Glynda's combat class every week, so this was nothing new, except for the possible new powers. Being a boy, Jaune really wanted to see that mech suit spring into action.
"Today, the four kingdoms' champions have the esteem honor of not only fighting for the championship spot, but also for a very special prize!" The bodiless announcer voice continued. "This once in a lifetime prize is worth more than any amount of Lien!"
Jaune was at the edge of the balcony wanting to hear what Pyrrha was dreaming of.
"The hand of our princess…. Jaune Arc!"
It took a few moments for Jaune to process what was just said.
"Er… what?" Jaune then noticed everyone in the coliseum turning to stare up at him. Looking down, it was only then he noticed he was wearing a very elegant red ball dress that reached down to his feet. Silk ran along his body and was the smoothest material he ever felt. This was the kind of dress only people like Weiss' family could afford. At least it covered his chest. "Oh,... come on…"
"Princess Jaune Arc has come of age and will be set to wed the winner to further produce our kingdom's heirs! Now, let her share a few words!"
Last night would be the last time he ever showed Pyrrha a picture of him in a dress.
'Ah… screw it. If I'm going to be a princess, I'm going to be the best damn princess ever!'
Honestly, that was his bad, though at the same time, Jaune was visible in the dream. From the start! He could interact and maybe have a little fun. Nothing insane of course, as he wasn't trying to manipulate Pyrrha. Watching the fight would have been plenty for him, but now that he seemed to have been noticed from the start, he could actually participate. Like interactive movies. The fact he was a princess was the only thing that irked him. Being the hero, not the damsel in distress, was his dream.
Oh well, he played role playing games before. This was perfectly doable.
"Champions!" Jaune called out, waving as he stood there, trying to look eloquent. "I wish you all the best and pray for your good fortune. If I could marry you all, I would. Every one of you is a worthy suitor. May the strongest one emerge triumphant and bring glory to their lands."
"Princess Jaune always had a way with people's hearts." The announcer's voice echoed as people cheered and waved at him. Jaune sheepishly waved back, acting like the best princess.
The four 'suitors' all looked up at Jaune. Ruby waved excitedly with her free hand and Jaune nodded at her. Even Pyrrha's dream couldn't change the plucky young girl's enthusiasm. Weiss looked up at him with a stern expression on her face. When they made eye contact, she suddenly smiled and moved a strand of her behind her ear nervously. Blake looked up at him and adjusted her glasses, before licking her lips.
That turned the poor boy on more than he cared to admit.
Meanwhile, Pyrrha looked up at him with a combination of nervousness and anxiety. That was strange to Jaune as she always looked so calm and collected when entering the ring. Was she worried because her opponents had all these new dream abilities while she looked to only have her normal weapons? Shouldn't she have given herself some amazing gift too as this was her dream? Most people would give themselves flying, super strength, pretty much anything. The nervousness didn't suit her and Jaune wanted to cheer her up. This was her dream after all, she deserved to enjoy it.
Of course, in the best princess way possible.
Smiling at her, he blew Pyrrha a kiss.
The girl's eyes widened and her cheeks quickly matched her crimson hair. Jaune felt a little embarrassment himself, but she was the one who made him a princess. If he enjoyed himself a bit, who would complain? Besides, Pyrrha suddenly looked much more determined now. It must have worked a little at the very least. Making his partner feel better was the minimum he should do. Keeping the smile off his face was impossible as Pyrrha's expression strengthened. That was the Pyrrha he remembered. Confident, strong, and yet still kind.
It was going to be an amazing battle.
"Are all the champions ready?!" The announcer called out. "Let the battle begin!"
Waves of ice erupted from under Weiss' feet as she opened her hands and pushed forward. No longer needing Dust in the dream, the 'Snow Angel' was living up to her name. Ruby jumped into the chest of her mech, with the cockpit closing instantly behind her. Jets ignited to life at the feet and it flew up into the sky, away from the chilling attack. Blake's book fell open and glowed as she just vanished into thin air, letting the ice wash over where she had been just a moment before.
Pyrrha had the most trouble. She turned and ran to get out of range as the large ice spikes grew and threatened to turn her into swiss cheese. Clutching her spear firmly, Pyrrha spun around and smashed the ice with the side of her weapon. Her shield was held up defensively, as her eyes darted toward the others.
Gunfire erupted from Ruby's mech's hands, causing Weiss to form a shield of ice to absorb the bullets. Crystals began to converge in her hand as the shape of her rapier began to emerge. Her pure white wings stretched out as she prepared to take off into the sky to combat the robot. Of course, this wasn't a one on one battle and Jaune bounced eagerly in his seat as he watched what happened next.
Black rope shot out from Weiss' shadow, wrapping around her tightly in a bondage design. Those wings pulled against her back and looked extremely uncomfortable. Jaune's face felt hot as he watched Weiss' dress get pulled taut against her body. Trying to distract himself, he looked for the source of the black rope. His eyes darted around to finally see that Blake had reappeared and was standing on a patch of ice. The book in the girl's hand was opened and glowing once more. It seemed that being a sage, Blake was a pure caster.
"She never plays games with us though," Jaune mused. "At most Blake watches me and Ruby hang out since we don't bother her like Yang does." Maybe it was because a lot of casters in video games Pyrrha saw were bookworms. "Kind of fits her, though I think the ninja Blake in her dream suited her better."
Covering his mouth, he quickly focused on the fight. Even if Pyrrha was in the ring, her subconscious might have heard that. No need to put any mysterious thoughts in her mind.
Ruby's battlesuit mech put its arms together as it stayed suspended in midair. The mechanical palms opened up, clicked, and then unleashed a small explosion. From them came a large missile aimed straight at Blake since she was in view. Kind of a stupid idea in Jaune's opinion, as Blake was holding Weiss down with her magic. Either way, it was a free for all, so attacking people who dropped their guard was part of the game.
Pyrrha understood that.
Raising her hand, the missile weirdly changed directions and turned to fly straight at Weiss. Weiss' eyes widened in horror as she was hit directly by the device. The explosion engulfed her, sending the nearby ice flying that hadn't instantly melted from the intense heat. Blake covered her face as blue light wrapped around her like a barrier. The crowd went wild, but Jaune stood up in worry. It may have been a dream, but seeing one of his friends get hurt like that caused him to react by instinct.
"Calm down, it's just a dream." Jaune muttered, taking a few deep breaths. "Think of it like an action movie.
The smoke cleared and Weiss was laying face down, singed slightly, but with no other wounds. Her eyes were closed and she appeared to be knocked unconscious. The first casualty of the four way battle was down.
"And the frozen Snow Angel had been knocked out cold!" The bodiless voice shouted over the cheering and booing crowd. "Who will be the next to fall!"
The red mech made a couple of victory laps in the air around the arena. As she flew by Jaune's sky box, she slowed down and waved from her transparent cockpit. Jaune smiled at her and waved back. Down below, Pyrrha looked up and scowled at the girl. Blake started muttering herself as purple lights floated around her like will-o-wisps. As Ruby rejoined the fray, the lights floated up into the air.
Then they darted toward the mech.
Ruby made some pretty astonishing evasive maneuvers, flying around as they followed her like magical heat seeking missiles. A sudden turn to the left with a spin avoided the barrage, but the dancing lights would just swerve around and follow. Understanding this, Ruby dove down and made a beeline straight for Blake. Jaune had seen this strategy in TV shows. Ruby would dive out of the way at the last second and have the attack hit Blake.
The boy was pretty sure Pyrrha saw a show with him one time that had this exact strategy..
"Blake wouldn't fall for this," Jaune whispered. "But dream Blake…?" A grin formed on his face. "Heh, ouch."
It worked like a charm.
Right before Ruby collided into Blake, she pulled up on the mech controls. Zipping at almost a pure ninety degree angle, the girl took off into the sky. The magical missiles that were tracking her weren't as agile. Blake held up her arms and made a shield a moment before her own magical bombs collided into her. Purple light exploded outwards in a crackle of electricity and blinded anyone looking directly at it. Dust obscured the Faunus girl before she was blown backwards, colliding into the wall of the arena.
"Yep, ouch." Jaune flinched, glad it wasn't real at least.
"And the Sage has fallen!" The crowd continued to cheer for the winners and boo the losers. "Seems she needs to spend more time in the gym over the library!"
Ruby and Pyrrha had both taken out a competitor each and were now staring at each other as Ruby landed back onto the ground. Pyrrha's hand gripped her spear tightly and she kept her shield raised. Jaune had sparred with her enough times during training sessions to know his partner would never let her guard down until she had definitely won. As much as Pyrrha liked to play it cool, she was very competitive. This arena was also her dream and probably made the girl focus even more.
The back compartments of Ruby's mech opened up as missile heads jettisoned out. Mini explosions erupted in sequence as the rockets flew outwards and began to curve as they homed in on Pyrrha. Swapping her spear to its rifle mode, Pyrrha took aim and started blasting each missile out of the air. The only problem was with the number. She took out the first couple, turning the explosives into fireworks, but wasn't able to take them all out as they barreled toward her at high speeds. Running forward, a couple of the flying bombs crashed into the ground behind her. Making an impressive backdrop of explosions.
'This would be an amazing action movie.' Jaune thought to himself as he watched Pyrrha duck and weave. He wanted to cheer for her, but against Ruby? No matter the dream, he couldn't never pick a side between those two. For now, he would let Pyrrha's dream play out and would act like the princess to the winner. Roleplaying was important as not to disrupt the dream. It wasn't like Weiss', where she was suffering. This was an action pack dream for entertainment.
So he was going to be the best damn princess he could be!
'Take that Pyrrha! This is for imagining me in a dress!'
Pyrrha was drawing closer to Ruby, who was backing away slowly, sending out waves of gunfire from wrist blasters. Using her shield, Pyrrha parried and blocked all the bullets coming at her, while simultaneously side stepping craters caused by the missile explosions. A true testament to her skills and one Jaune knew was not just dream strength. Pyrrha was honestly just that good. Unable to stop her, flames and smoke shot out from the mech's suit as it started to take off into the air. That would be a problem for Pyrrha. The mecha shift rifle in her hand wouldn't be able to do any real damage at a distance to it.
SCCCRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEECCCHHHH!
The horrible sound of metal tearing filled the coliseum. Jaune was forced to cover his ears as he gritted his teeth. Sound pierced his skill and rattled the poor boy's brain. Pyrrha seemed immune to it as she held out her hand holding her rifle. The jet boosters on Ruby's mech were being torn off by an invisible force. Whether it was Pyrrha's true power or dream power, Jaune didn't know. All that mattered was how cool it was.
"Go Pyrrha!" Jaune cheered. "Ruby, you have to do something quick!"
Almost as if Ruby heard him, the mech stopped trying to fly and landed back on the ground with a loud thud. The boosters were completely torn and unusable. Pyrrha took the opportunity and charged forward. Gears clicked as the rifle swapped back to its spear form. Drawing her hand back, Pyrrha made a thrust directly into the cockpit of the mech. Controls began to spark, but Jaune only now just realized Ruby wasn't there. While he had been focused on Pyrrha, the back of the robot opened up. Ruby had elected herself out the back to avoid Pyrrha's attack.
Right as Ruby landed on the ground, her fingers hit a button on the remote she was holding. Her battlesuit's arms clamped around Pyrrha like it was giving the ultimate bear hug. Pyrrha had no choice but to find herself slammed against the chest of the machine. Struggling, there was nothing the champion could do.
"Got you!" Ruby laughed, clicking the big red button on the remote.
BOOM!
A small nuclear explosion went off as Ruby's mech suit self-destructed into a mushroom shaped cloud of smoke. Gusts of wind strong enough Jaune could feel it all the way from his box rushed out along with the wave of intense heat that followed. Worrying about his partner, the blonde jumped to his feat and rushed toward the ledge. There was too much smoke obscuring the view in a large crater. Ruby, meanwhile, was unharmed and waving to the crowd as she walked away.
"It can't be…" Jaune worried. "You don't die in a dream. Or lose right? Pyrrha would just wake up if she died… right?" He shook his head to get rid of that ludacris thought. "Wait… if Pyrrha lost… then maybe it's not her dream…" That left one option.
His eyes fell to Ruby.
"Seriously?" A chuckle escaped his lips. "You had me fooled the entire time, Ruby."
It made sense that he could visit the same person's dream over and over. Maybe that spark was just static electricity. Why else would Ruby have won in a tournament like this? Smiling to himself, though part of him was sad Pyrrha got blown up, Jaune stood up to declare Ruby the winner.
When a gold and red object sliced through the air from the center of the smoke filled crater.
"Ouch!" Jaune wasn't the only one who shivered this time as Pyrrha's shield collided into the back of Ruby's head, knocking the young girl to the ground unconscious.
From the smoke, Pyrrha slowly walked out, her armor and clothes torn and tattered, but very much alive.
"What a surprising upset!" The announcer's voice echoed as the crowd stood up, stomping and cheering in the stands. "Escaping from the jaws of defeat. Pyrrha Nikos has emerged victorious!"
Pyrrha raised her weapon high into the air as everyone continued to applaud and cheer for her. Her eyes scanned the witnesses, a huge smile on her face. Eventually, her gaze turned up toward Jaune, who was standing at the edge of the box looking down at her. Before he could say anything, she went down on one knee and planted the tip of her spear in the ground.
"I have defeated all my opponents as per tradition," Pyrrha announced to Jaune. The silence that fell over the stadium instantly was a little unnerving to the boy. "May the honor of marrying you be bestowed upon me?"
Jaune's mouth went dry as everyone in the stadium was staring at him. He had a choice. Play along with this and possibly get carried away with Pyrrha's dream or decline and risk the aftermath. If she was rejected, would the dream turn into a nightmare? Jaune momentarily imagined himself in her place with Weiss where he was. There was no way he would put someone through that in their own thoughts. Not only that, when his gaze met Pyrrha's emerald eyes as she looked up hopefully, a dagger would be etched in his heart if he refused.
"Of course!" Jaune exclaimed. Getting back into character. "You have won my favor and my hand in marriage."
A thunderous sound of cheering washed over him again. The crowd stood up as a single giant wave, stomping, clapping, and yelling to celebrate the union between their champion and 'princess.' Pyrrha's face lit up as she smiled, her cheeks tinged pink. Still, she never averted eye contact from Jaune. He felt himself smiling back at her, glad her dream was still going well.
Until the world shimmered and blurred. Before Jaune could process what happened, he was standing at an altar in some fancy building. Pyrrha stood across from him, dressed in a fancy black and white tux. Jaune then glanced around and saw rows and rows of people sitting down, all wearing fancy dresses and suits of their own. Not everyone was familiar, but Jaune saw many of his friends from Beacon there. Nora and Ren were in the front row, with Nora waving excitedly, while Ren was sitting there nodding at him encouragingly.
There were many people with bright red hair that looked like they could have been part of Pyrrha's family. One woman stood out the clearest with short red hair and glasses. The same piercing green eyes as Jaune's partner. There was a good chance it was her mom, or maybe older sister? No, Jaune remembered Pyrrha mentioned she was an only child. Her mom was probably the most likely candidate.
When he saw the back row, a laugh almost shot out of his mouth.
Ruby, Blake, and Weiss were all pouting, their arms crossed, as they gazed up wistfully at Pyrrha and Jaune. Pyrrha wasn't the type of person to mock her defeated opponents. Because those three were her friends, she probably invited them to the party. After all, there was only one ceremony that came to mind when Jaune fully took in his surroundings. Trying not to sigh, he slowly looked down at the long white dress he was wearing.
'Seriously? We're getting married and you STILL put me in a dress?' Jaune was honestly amused at how much that one pictured impacted Pyrrha's dream. He seriously doubted his partner would really desire him to wear girl's clothes.
There was a cough and Jaune's attention snapped back to Pyrrha and an older man with a blurry face, who had to be the minister to this wedding. Jaune was already used to random background people in dreams not having faces.
"The two have written their own vows," The man stated to the audience. "If you please." He gestured to Pyrrha, who coughed and started reciting her prepared speech.
"Jaune…. Ever since we first met, I felt something special between us. At first, I was happy to have you as a friend, someone who saw the real me. The more time we spent together… the more I fell in love with you. The first time we first went out… was probably the happiest day of my life. Before today…" The girl choked a little bit as she talked. "With you I found a partner in life, a lover, a friend, a safe place, someone I can be my ugliest and most vulnerable. In you I found someone who supports me, who inspires me, who respects and trusts me. Thank you, for everything you provided me, even the parts you had no idea of."
Jaune's entire body was as stiff as a board. This wasn't what happened in her dream. Where was this all coming from? The boy racked his brain as he tried to understand it. Pyrrha didn't stop though and continued as the poor blonde was trying to figure out this twist.
"I promise to love you without reservation or conditions. I promise to always do my best to be the partner you deserve. I promise to stay by your side, support you, and be the kind of person that you have been to me. Because… when I'm with you… I am the best version of myself because I am utterly and unapologetically myself."
Her eyes were teary as she said this and Jaune's stomach twisted into knots. A feeling in the back of his mind was telling him this wasn't supposed to be something he saw. His throat was dry, hands sweaty, knees weak, and he was contemplating trying to vanish on the spot.
The minister turned to Jaune and he realized he needed to say something. What could he say though? The truth about their friendship? What the dream wanted him to say? Something completely different and unexpected?
"Pyrrha…" The words came tumbling out of his mouth. "To me, you have always been family. You stood by my side when I was at my lowest, you pushed me to improve, and you stand by my side even when you know I'm wrong. There is no one in this world who could ever replace how special you are to me. I promise to be the best partner I can be. To treat you the way you deserve, not as an untouchable champion, but as Pyrrha. No matter what difficulties the future may bring, I swear on my name as an Arc, I will be there by your side."
Only a monster would have purposely ruined this moment. This was so unexpected, all Jaune could do was tell his honest feelings and tried to word it in a way that sounded like a wedding vow. At this time, Pyrrha was more of a sister to him. Pursuing a romantic relationship had never occurred to him. Now? The boy began to realize how beautiful his partner was and why people were so infatuated with her.
"Do you, Pyrrha Nikos, take Jaune Arc as your lawfully wedded bride?" The minister asked.
Right… he's in a dress and seen as a girl. Kind of took away from the seriousness of the entire situation.
"I do." Pyrrha answered, her cheeks as bright as her hair.
"Do you, Jaune Arcs, take Pyrrha Nikos as your lawfully wedded husband?" The minister had turned to the 'boy.'
Taking a deep breath, Jaune answered with the only possible words.
"I do."
"I now pronounce you man and wife!" The man announced. "You may kiss the bride."
Before Jaune could react, Pyrrha lunged forward and nearly tackled him as she slammed her lips against his. The crowd cheered and clapped as the two newlyweds were locked in the most passionate kiss of their life. Jaune was trying to watch his hands as they wrapped automatically around Pyrrha's back. It was getting hard to breathe as her tongue wrestled with his own. Jaune shut his eyes as he tried not to enjoy this as much as he was.
'It's only a dream,' The boy repeated in his mind. 'It's only a dream. It's not real. You aren't taking advantage of Pyrrha!'
As Pyrrha continued to kiss him, Jaune was aware of how quiet the background noise suddenly got. Wedding cheering usually lasted until the couple left the building. Opening his eyes, the light that greeted him wasn't from a church ceremony, but the sun that was shining down on him. Since Jaune wasn't back in bed, it was obvious this was still part of the dream. Breaking apart at last, Jaune's mouth fell open.
Pyrrha was older, even if her radiance hadn't changed. Taller, more filled out, shorter hair, maybe an age line or two. All in all, it made her look more like that one woman at the ceremony. A TV show or book would have made this a time skip, so Jaune figured he looked older too. There was no mirror to check out how Pyrrha saw him though. In the distance, there was a comfy looking cottage with a cobblestone path leading to the front door.
"Is everything okay, dear?" Pyrrha asked curiously, tilting her head. "You seem out of it."
"N-No, everything's fine." Jaune lied, shaking his head. "Just… happy I guess?"
"You're still saying that?" Pyrrha giggled, a hand to her mouth. "With us being married over 10 years already?"
'Ten years?!' It took Jaune a second to collect himself. "Time just flies by."
"It does, especially with those two." Pyrrha pointed to the distance and Jaune turned automatically.
His eyes widened and his mouth stopped working as two kids ran at them.
"Mom, dad!"
One looked exactly like Jaune, except aged back to around 5 years old. Short blonde hair, blue eyes, and as cute as a button. Next to him, his 'sister' bore a striking semblance to Pyrrha, though probably slightly older than her 'brother.' Maybe seven to eight years old max. Jaune didn't get a chance to really examine them closely before the two kids bolted right at him, hugging him tightly. Trained by years of dealing with his younger sisters, Jaune automatically wrapped his arms around each of them.
"How are my favorite shrimps today?" Jaune asked, playing along.
"Daaaaadddd!" The girl whined. "Stop that!"
"I won the race!" The boy bragged.
"No you didn't!" The girl said.
"Yes, I did!"
"Nuh uh!"
"Uh huh!"
Jaune shook his head as the two kids continued their 'argument.' Crystal clear laughter drew his attention away from the tiny people toward his 'wife.' Pyrrha had one arm around her waist as she was laughing, her eyes glancing up in amusement as she watched them. Taking the hint, he walked over and stood next to her as the kids continued to bicker.
"Great, kids, aren't they?" Jaune asked.
"Yeah, thanks to you." Pyrrha clutched his arm and leaned close to him, the smile never leaving her face. "I love you all so much for giving me this family."
"They are the lucky ones, having you as a parent." Jaune chuckled.
"Jaune… I want to ask you something." Pyrrha was no longer laughing and instead was nibbling on the edge of her lip. Her body was shifting back and forth nervously.
"Anything, Pyrrha." Jaune played the role of the loving husband… wife… whatever he was considered after the wedding. "Just tell me what's on your mind."
"I… I want another kid."
Jaune could only blink once as he processed this, before he found himself sitting on a bed, with the sky outside the window now pitch black. His head spun around to examine the bedroom. It reminded him a lot of his dorm back at Beacon, except only one bed. A sigh escaped him when his gaze fell down and saw himself wearing a feminine blue nightgown.
"Can't you imagine me in pants?" The boy muttered to himself.
"Did you say something, Jaune?" Pyrrha's voice came from behind the attached door. If it was like the dorm rooms in Beacon, it would be the attached bathroom. His suspicion was verified as Pyrrha stepped out, wearing nothing but a towel. Her wet hair no longer tied up in a ponytail, but dropped down freely. The girl's cheeks were tinged slightly with pink, but she was smiling. Emerald eyes focused on Jaune with what could only be described as longing.
Jaune gulped worriedly as he saw his partner.
This was completely different than in Blake's dream. Yeah, he watched her and Yang get it on, but he wasn't part of it. Just a spectator that had no choice in what was happening. Now? Pyrrha could see him, interact with him, and was actively making Jaune a part of all of this. Intruding was one thing, but taking advantage of his partner? There was no way he could go along with this. Jaune took a lot of precautions to give Nora and Pyrrha privacy in the dorms. The one time he had seen Pyrrha in her underwear was when she rushed out of the bathroom to get him.
Turns out Pyrrha really hates spiders.
Of course, Jaune gave the same courtesy to Nora, even if she didn't seem to care and entered the bathroom all the time when Ren was showering.
"P-Pyrrha…" Jaune coughed out. "I-It's not…"
"Shhhh." Pyrrha sauntered over and put a finger to his mouth. "I know what you want to say, but you don't have to. We've been married so long I feel like I can read your mind. Just lay back and relax."
She blew on his ear, sending shivers down his spine. "I'll do it just like you like."
"I… er…"
Words failed him as Jaune felt Pyrrha' fingers brush along his cheek. His mind was screaming at him to get away. That continuing this would be disgusting. Taking advantage of Pyrrha, especially without her knowledge, would make him trash. Yet, as the girl sat down next to him, kissing his cheek and playing with his hair, Jaune's brain seemed to disconnect from his body. Just because he was someone who respected others, it didn't mean he wasn't a teenage boy. Pyrrha was incredibly attractive and now with some new found confidence outside the arena that only drew him towards her.
Escaping was off the table.
A hand pushed Jaune back on the bed so Pyrrha towered over him. Bright red hair fell down and tickled his chin as Pyrrha leaned down and planted a light kiss on his lips. Emerald eyes locked with blue as the two gazed at each other. Jaune's brain yelled at him once more to stop and not to disrespect his partner. His arms even tried weakly to push her off. It was just Pyrrha was much stronger than him and with the position they were in, she had the advantage.
"I hope our next kid looks like you too," Pyrrha whispered. "Maybe twins? Wouldn't they look cute?'
"As long as they are healthy, I'm fine with it." Jaune reassured her. "And I know that's what you care about too. You wouldn't be Pyrrha otherwise."
"Yes… I will love our kids unconditionally, no matter what they look like." Pyrrha's face was so full of love, Jaune's mind pushed everything else to the side. Making that face sad would be like taking cookies from Ruby. You just didn't do that.
"Pyrrha… are you sure you want to do this?" The words were soft, but Jaune had to ask.
"You ask that the last two times too," Pyrrha replied, not deterred from her desire. "But you happily gave birth to both of them."
Danger alarms went off in the boy's mind.
'What did she mean by I gave birth?'
Everything that happened crashed down on him at once. Being a princess in the coliseum with Pyrrha and the others fighting for his hand. Jaune had to wear a marriage dress when they got married while Pyrrha was in the suit. The minister even said he was the wife. Now he was laying down in a woman's nightgown, as Pyrrha's hand crept slowly up his leg. His eyes traveled down as Pyrrha adjusted her position to sit up. It was then the towel she was wearing slipped up.
Jaune's eyes widened in horror.
There was a bulge that did not belong to a girl.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Jaune sat up, drenched in sweat, panting heavily as he found himself back in his room. His heart was beating wildly and his stomach was churning. The rancid taste of vomit was bubbling up in the back of his throat as he stood up and rushed to the bathroom, trying not to wake anyone else up. As he passed Pyrrha, the girl was still fast asleep, with a peaceful smile plastered on her face. Once inside the bathroom, shutting the door behind him, he turned on the light and splashed cold water from the sink into his face.
The face that greeted him in the mirror looked exactly like he felt.
"I'm a piece of shit…" Jaune halfway collapsed on the bathroom counter. "Seriously… I let myself get carried away…"
It wasn't about Dream Pyrrha having additional equipment. No, studying the dream books informed him that many dreams should not be taken literally. There was no way Pyrrha would secretly want to be a guy. Adorable young Jaune in a dress was the catalyst that influenced her dream. Nothing else. No, what he was upset with wasn't with her, but with himself.
Trying to have sex with Pyrrha in that dream world was wrong. It may not have been real in the traditional sense, but to Pyrrha and Jaune, it would have changed things. At the very least, with him. HE would know what he did while Pyrrha would just think it was an erotic dream. Seeing someone naked, let alone sexually active, without their consent was wrong on so many levels. Yet he had nearly done that with someone he considered family because he was aroused by an attractive girl.
Jaune Arc had never hated himself more than he did just then.
Feel free to leave a review, comment, suggestions, or ideas, I love reading them. If you have a question you wish I ask and would like a quick answer, feel free to message me directly. I try to respond to those within a day or two. Comments, I tend to respond to in the next chapter.
Wasn't sure how this dream was going to end, but with how the build up went, I think this was the best outcome. Jaune is shown to have a lot of control, but is still human and can be swayed by emotions and pulled into situations he would normally be against. The fact he has such regrets with what he almost did will help develop his character.
And no, Pyrrha does not secretly wish to be a futa in any way, so don't ask.
