Chapter 2: Snake in the Grass
Izuku looked at All Might and his face fell into tearful confusion. "Huh? What do you mean by inherit? Inherit what?" He asked.
"I'm aware that my quirk is a hot topic on the internet, with everyone thinking that it's sheer strength or some such nonsense. But that's actually not the case." The man explained. "It was passed down to me from someone else." He revealed, much to the snake boy's shock.
"What, wait, hold on. This is a lot to process!" The boy said. "It's true that the mystery behind your quirk is one of the world's greatest mysteries!" He added. "But the idea of someone passing one along like a present, that's crazy!" He said before he started mumbling theories like mad.
'Oh boy. Better put a stop to this before it drags on.' All Might thought with a sweat drop. "QUIT NERDING OUT!" He shouted, snapping the boy out of his thoughts.
Izuku immediately snapped out of it and started listening to him. "You'll have to adjust your reality and accept this new truth! I can pass my quirk onto you, and that's just one facet of my abilities." All Might told him. "The true name of my power is One for All." He told the boy.
"One… for All?" Izuku asked slowly in confusion.
"Yes, one person improves the power. Then passes it along to someone else, and it gains power as it's passed along, the truth behind my strength." The man told him.
"It's a stockpiling quirk, then?" The green haired boy deduced, getting a nod in return.
"Right." He replied. "And your next. I can give you my abilities." He added.
"Wait, me?! Aren't there others that are more qualified?!" The snake-like teen stammered in surprise.
"True. I've been looking for a successor, one who already had a quirk." He told the boy. "But then I saw you, a formally quirkless fanboy who had, not a quirk of his own, but rather one that was given to him by a source he knew nothing about, and powers he knew even less about try to save a life. Acting like a real hero." The blonde continued. "I knew then, that my search was over."
Izuku was stunned. He was seriously being chosen as the successor for something so powerful? It felt so surreal. Then his logical side kicked in.
"There's no way it's that simple. I've heard about and seen what you can do. I have to do some training, don't I?" He analyzed.
"Very astute." The symbol of peace nodded. "We'll start your training next week, Friday morning. Be ready."
(Later)
Izuku started walking home after that and started thinking about what All Might told him. However as he did, he failed to notice a very familiar looking serpent slivering slowly towards him, before stopping in front of him and slapping its tail on the ground to get his attention.
"Huh?" The boy got as he looked down and his eyes widened upon seeing the snake that changed his life. "It's you…!" He breathed as he looked at the supposedly mythical creature.
"Were you expecting someone else, boy?" The snake hissed. Izuku reeled back in surprise at the unexpected response. Not at the words, but that he got one at all.
"Y-you can talk?!" He stuttered as he knelt down to it.
"Not in the way you can, but yes, I can talk, but only those like you can understand me." The Shiro Orochi replied.
"Why are you here now?" Izuku asked.
"Because I know of your new found abilities. As such, I'm here to teach you what I know." The snake explained.
"Okay… But, who are you?" The boy asked.
"I am Apophis, Serpent of Eternal Chaos. Best you remember it, boy." The reptile hissed. "And I do not provide my eons worth of knowledge for free. I expect you to give me five sacrifices of various meat and rice based foods every day, and five large bowls worth of fermented sake. Clear?" He hissed, flashing his fangs.
"C-crystal clear." The boy gulped. Meat and rice? Those he could manage. The sake was another matter entirely. Quickly, he opened his backpack. "Here, you can ride in my bag until we can get home. I can get you a terrarium tomorrow."
"Very well." The snake nodded before slithering into the boy's backpack.
(Later)
As the boy entered his house, Apophis hissed in disgust. "This place reeks of packed humanity." He growled.
"I assume this is why you stay away from such places? Or at least, one of the reasons?" Izuju questioned.
"Correct. I can barely stand it." The snake confirmed.
"Honey, who are you talking to?" A voice called from the kitchen.
"No one!" He called. He then walked inside the kitchen and saw his mother. Inko Midoriya was a beautiful woman of forty, who was curvy, but not fat. In a word, she was sexy, having most of her 'fat' being in her hips, thighs, her ass and lastly her breasts. Making them a whopping G-cup.
"When I was larger, I would gorge myself on lovely maidens such as that every year on the summer and winter solstice. They truly were a delight to eat." The chaos serpent chuckled darkly.
"Watch it. That's my mother you're talking about." Izuku whispered defensively.
As the boy sat down, he set his bag on the chair next to him, and unbeknownst to him Apophis was poking his head out of his bag. And was ogling the woman who was cooking before him.
'Oh my. Such a fine woman.' He thought in approval. 'I wonder what she'd taste like.' He thought as he licked his reptilian mouth. However he had to quickly dart back inside the bag when the woman looked his way.
"So sweetie, how'd today go?" Inko asked as she cooked dinner.
"Um, okay, we had a bit of a scare with a sludge villain, but the heroes were able to stop him." The boy replied as she set a plate of Chicken teriyaki in front of him. He then began to secretly slip Apophis a piece of it under the table.
"Well, that aside, I realized that I never got you to the doctor to get you looked at after... Whatever happened to you." The woman stated as she ate.
"Yeah…" The boy nodded. "Um, Mom? I think I know a way we can help figure it out when we go to the doctor." He told her.
"Oh? What would that be?" Inko asked curiously. Izuku then grabbed the snake in his bag and took him out, showing him to his mother. "What the-! A snake?!" The woman exclaimed in surprise. When she calmed down enough to think clearly, she took a close look at the snake and widened her eyes in recognition and amazement. "T-that's… T-t-the Shiro Orochi!" She uttered in awe. She had a legendary serpent in her apartment!
"Yeah, it's the same one that bit me." Izuku nodded. "I was hoping that having it could help us understand how I ended up like this." He added as he put Apophis back into his bag.
"I'll need to be made aware of its dietary requirements. I'd rather not make it mad by getting basic snake food." Inko stated.
"Ummm, now might be a good time to mention that it can talk." The boy told her, much to her shock. "His name is Apophis, and he said that he requires five pounds of meat, rice... and five bowls of sake." He added.
"... Okay, I can handle the meat and rice, but the sake isn't going to be easy." The green haired woman said after a moment.
"What is that supposed to mean? Are you telling me you humans are poor?" Apophis hissed.
"Hm… How do I explain this…?" Izuku muttered to himself before coming up with something that seemed reasonable. "It won't be easy since neither of us have really drunken any sake before, so getting it -even if it's for you- feels a little odd." The teen explained.
"Suspicion. Of course." The snake sighed angrily.
"We'll find a way to make it work." Izuku muttered. "That's something that's gonna happen no matter what, anyway." He added.
"Quite true." Apophis nodded knowingly. He'd seen humans make strange things work for a long time, so he expected his new protege to make this arrangement work.
(The next day)
The following day both Izuku and Inko went to the doctor's office and presented the boy and snake to the doctor in charge to examine. Apophis meanwhile was coiled up in his new terrarium as he huffed and looked at the humans around him in indignation. He despised the cold, and the low temperature that the doctor's office was kept at did not help alleviate his bad mood in the slightest.
"Okay, this is definitely not what I was expecting today." The doctor muttered.
"The snake bit me and the next thing I knew I woke up like this and with powers." The boy told him.
"Can you give me an example of one of these powers? Just a description will work." The man requested.
"Serpent transformation." He told him. The man seemed to think.
"Alright, will you be willing to show me an example?" The man asked as he started attaching electrodes to the boy's head. Izuku nodded as he transformed his tongue into a snake. The doctor looked at the living appendage and then at his screen.
"Hmm, no Quirk factor related brain activity." He noted.
"Really? I was honestly expecting a bit of a change." Izuku remarked in mild surprise.
"It seems that your body did not register these powers as a possible quirk, though for the sake of simplicity, we'll just consider it to be one." The man told him.
"Fair enough." The boy nodded.
"Though I'd keep this a secret if I were you." The man told the family of two. "If the wrong people caught wind of this, they'd try and capture you to use you for their own ends, especially villains." He added.
'Well, that human certainly isn't wrong.' Apophis admitted in his thoughts begrudgingly. It wouldn't surprise him in the least if people came after his student to try and see what makes his powers tick. It was part of the reason he kept his distance from human society.
"Right." The two nodded.
(Later)
Apophis shivered as he started to warm up on his basking rock under his heating lamp. Izuku meanwhile was placing him a stack of thin cuts of beef strip steak, white Japanese rice, and then five ounces of sake in stone snake bowls they bought at the pet store.
"My mom is a good cook, so I think you'll like this." He told his second teacher. The snake flicked his tongue to taste the air before shrugging… Or whatever qualified as a shrug from a snake.
"It'll do." The white serpent said. "Though I doubt it will replace the taste of the maidens I'd become accustomed to."
"Yeah, what's up with that?" The boy questioned as the snake ate some of the rice.
"Tell me, boy, are you familiar with who the Yamata no Orochi is?" His new pet asked.
"Of course. I doubt there's a soul in Japan who isn't." The boy nodded.
"I am a hatchling that came from an egg that was hidden in one of its severed heads." He told him. "And like my predecessor, I have an insatiable craving for the flesh of a fair maiden." He added. "However, ever since Amaterasu cursed me to spend the rest of eternity in this size, I have been unable to enjoy my favorite food."
"But you managed to find a way to make it work to an extent, haven't you?" Izuku asked. "I mean, you can't go this long without finding such a way." He added.
"It is still not the same." Apophis sighed. "However… Your mother certainly does fit the criteria I would have used to pick my prey." He added darkly. "The ones with such… developed assets were always quite juicy." He finished with a chuckle.
Izuku's eyebrow twitched in irritation several times. Sure, he knew his mom was a bombshell that many men would kill for, but he didn't need to hear Apophis talk about eating her, dammit!
"Apophis? Shut up." The boy told him. The snake just chuckled in amusement as he ate his food.
(A week later)
A week later in the early morning in the middle of the Dagoba beach, Izuku was struggling to drag a refrigerator across the sand by using his arms, which he had transformed into anacondas in order to constrict the hunk of metal easier.
"You know people move these everyday, and most of them don't have super strength." All Might mused as he sat on top of the fridge, Apophis also being in his lap.
"Yeah, well there's an extra 600 pounds sitting on top of it right now." The boy grumbled as his arms slinked back and returned to normal.
"Nah, I've lost weight so I'm down to 560 these days, in this form at least." The man told him.
"That doesn't do much to help me." Izuku said flatly. "So how exactly is hauling trash around supposed to help me prepare my body for One for All?" He asked.
"The plan is to use the many different types of trash to work specific muscle groups in the ten month time period we're left with currently." The blonde stated, tapping the fridge and causing a dent. "Plus I did a little research, turns out this part of the coast used to be beautiful. So I decided to help show you the importance of service, by cleaning up this section of the beach."
"Well… Then let's get to work." The boy smirked slightly. And so, he began his ten months of absolute hell, with Apophis also helping him understand how to use his other powers.
(Later)
"Now, I want you to summon a snake inside your throat, and then make it spit whatever it has in its mouth out." The white serpent told the boy after a workout one day.
"Right." Izuku nodded as he concentrated. After a moment, he felt something coming up his throat, prompting him to open his mouth. The snake that came out of it then spat out something that it had inside its mouth and the boy reflexively caught it.
The object in question was a green and bronze scaled Tsurugi sword with a sheath. "Is this what I think it is?" He asked.
"Say hello to the legendary Kusanagi no Tsurugi. One of the three legendary regalia." The serpent nodded.
"Incredible…" The boy breathed in awe before adopting a serious expression. "Is this sword to be used only when a situation demands it?" He questioned, knowing that using this blade frequently would bring unwanted attention.
"It's best to save it for situations where you need a weapon, I'd say." Apophis replied.
"Fair enough." The teen nodded, before swallowing the sword again.
(Nine months later)
Several months later, Izuku was beginning to reach the final stretch of his training and was carrying a safe while jogging by dislocating his joints and stretching his limbs so he could hold it better… until his strength started to falter.
'Crap…!' He thought before he collapsed. As his limbs returned to normal, both All Might and Apophis looked back at him.
"Hey hey, look alive now! You've only got one month left. You wanna flush it all down the toilet and take it easy?" The man questioned.
"Yes. Is that really what you want?" Apophis questioned. Both then noticed how the boy's body was trembling.
"He's overworked." The symbol of peace said.
"Really? What was your first clue?" The snake hissed, though All Might didn't respond since he couldn't hear his voice.
"You're overdoing it, doing more than the plan specified. That'll have the opposite of what we want." The currently lanky man stated.
"I'm pushing myself so that I can excel!" Izuku told him, looking up at the two. "I want to be better than okay, I want to be great! So I'll keep working myself until my bones crack if I have to!"
All Might and Apophis looked at him with impressed looks. They had to admit, his determination was commendable. 'This kid…' The two thought as they looked at each other and smiled.
"Well then, we'll just have to adjust your plan so it can fit this new work rate, now won't we?" The hero smirked.
(One month later)
It was a month later and All Might went to check on Izuku's progress, and was utterly blindsided by what awaited him at the beach in place of the mountains of trash that used to be there.
"What the…?!" He uttered in absolute amazement as he took in the sight. The entire beach was cleaned up in its entirety, and the trash was in one giant pile that his student was on top of. "Holy crap kid, you really did it! Seriously, there's not a spec of trash on this beach!"
"Holy…" Apophis said in amazement.
"Stinking…" All Might added.
"Super crap!" Both of them yelled as they rushed to catch Izuku as he fell off the pile of trash.
"Hey guys… How'd I do…?" He asked weakly.
"You did great kid, you exceeded my expectations!" All Might told him. "Now you're ready to inherit One For All." He added as he set the boy down.
"Alright, let's do this." The boy nodded as he righted himself. All Might then plucked a hair from his head and held it out to him.
"Eat this, and take your place as my true successor." He told his student.
"... Huh?" The boy got out, looking a little stumped. Even Apophis looked stumped, which was impressive since he'd been around a long time.
"To inherit my power you have to swallow some of my DNA, that's how it works!" The symbol of peace told him.
"Wait, seriously?" The boy asked in disbelief.
"Yes. NOW EAT!" He exclaimed as he began forcing the hair down the boy's throat.
"Whoa, hey! Wait a minute! AAAAHHHHH!" The snake-like boy yelled as he was force fed his teacher's hair.
"Okay, that's disgusting." The Shiro Orochi said to himself with a shiver.
(Later)
After swallowing the hair, Izuku went to UA for the exam after leaving his snake companion at home… or so he thought, the white serpent was still inside his backpack. As he walked into the campus, Bakugo suddenly came up behind him.
"Move it, nerd." He grunted. Normally Izuku would have jumped from being startled, however with Apophis's training to reduce his fear response, he instead flicked his tongue at the Pomeranian blonde in annoyance.
"You know you can jusssst go around, right?" The boy hissed.
"Don't you hiss at me. Powers or no, you're still not on my level, so don't go acting all high and mighty on me!" The boy's former friend stated as he walked away.
'Hmph. He says that as if I need to be at his level.' He scoffed internally as he walked… Only to trip on a rock. 'Really?' He deadpanned internally as he fell before he felt himself stop mid fall, much to his confusion.
"Sorry!" A kindly voice said as a girl helped him up. "I stopped you with my quirk, I hope you don't mind." She smiled. The girl was a brunette with a round face, cute pink cheeks, and looked very pretty. Additionally she had a very beautiful figure with a perky C-cup bust.
Izuku looked at her in surprise, unsure of what to say as his tongue flicked in and out of his mouth nervously. Apophis sighed in annoyance. "Quit standing there staring like a fish and say something, you idiot!" He barked. That caused the boy to snap out of his trance.
"Um, yeah, thanks." The boy nodded nervously as his pale skin was set ablaze in a rose colored blush. The girl smiled back and the two continued into the main reception room, where the Exam's announcer was the Voice hero: Present Mic.
"Hey hey hey, what is up listeners? Thank you for tuning in with today me today! Come on and let me hear ya!" The man called out to the kids.
-SILENCE~-
"Keeping it mellow, huh? That's cool." The man shrugged before he started explaining the exam's activities. Izuku meanwhile couldn't help but be a fanboy over the fact that one of his favorite heroes was a teacher at the school.
However before the orientation could go any further, a bespectacled boy suddenly raised his hand to ask a question.
"Excuse me, I have a question!" He said.
"Hit me!" The blonde man said as a spotlight shined on the boy.
"These forms say that there are four enemies in the exam, but only three were mentioned. If this is misinformation, then I am greatly disappointed." He stated. "We are exemplary students, and expect the best from Japan's top school. So a mistake like this won't do." He added before turning to where Izuku was sitting. "And additionally you with the odd markings on your face." He said sternly.
"Who, me?" Izuku said in confusion, his tongue flicking out of his mouth nervously.
"Yes, you. You're mumbling is distracting everyone here. If you can't take this seriously, then leave." He told the snake boy. Izuku glared at the bespectacled boy for that.
"For the love of god, are you just going to sit there and let him tell you off like that?!" Apophis hissed. The green haired boy wasted no time in retorting.
"Maybe you should do everyone here a favor by not sticking your nose into other people's businesses!" He hissed, flashing his fangs… before covering his mouth. "Uh… If you wouldn't mind, that is?"
"Nice save." The snake said sarcastically. Izuku didn't bother responding to that one. The other teen just blinked a few times before sitting back down. Once that little scene was over, Mic continued to explain the very points that the boy asked about.
(Later)
Izuku stood in front of the fake city that UA used for the exam and started trying to psych himself up, and didn't happen to notice that Apophis had draped himself over his neck like a feather boa. When he got his confidence up after a few short breaths, he saw the girl who helped him earlier.
"You should try and get her name, experience has taught me that allies that last are ones you make early." The white serpent told him.
"Sounds good." Izuku whispered in reply. As he moved to approach the girl, he was stopped by the same teen from earlier.
The boy looked over in the girl's direction and then back at Izuku. "She looks like she's trying to prepare for the trials ahead." He said. "What are you going to do? Distract her and ruin her chance of success?"
The serpent-like boy just looked at him in annoyance, feeling slightly fed up by his behavior. "If you must know, I wish to thank her for helping me earlier. How exactly is that distracting?" He questioned.
The bespectacled boy slowly took his hand off Izuku's shoulder and backed away. Meanwhile everyone around him was talking about him.
"Hey look at that guy isn't he the guy who almost bit it at the gate?" One guy said.
"Yeah, he practically wet himself in the auditorium." Another guy added.
"Seriously, what a loser, but one less rival to worry about I guess." Another added.
'And there they go, singling me out.' Izuku sighed mentally. Then he smirked slightly. 'It'll make proving them wrong so much more fun.' He added.
"Hang on, isn't he the same snake boy who fought that sludge villain?" One girl who had vines for hair asked.
"Now that I look closer, he does look like the one from back then." Another applicant nodded.
"Creepy…" They all said collectively.
'Great, now they've written me off.' Izuku sighed. A few seconds later, the doors to the urban setting opened.
"Come on listeners, move it! There are no countdowns in real battles! You're wasting air time here!" The voice hero yelled. Everyone then made a mad dash for the battle ground, eager to prove that they were worthy of being in UA.
"Shit! I'm following behind!" The green haired boy yelled as he ran after the applicants. And as his luck would have it, a one pointer busted out of nowhere and locked onto him.
"Target acquired." It buzzed. Izuku narrowed his eyes as he stretched his arm out and a Boa constrictor shot from inside his sleeve and began coiling itself around the robot's right arm. The pressure of the Boa was so great that it actually made the arm get severed from the rest of the robot's chassis.
The boy then moved swiftly and turned his lower half into a serpent half and coiled himself around the robot until it was crushed like a tin can. Then he moved onto his next target: three two pointers. For this he began spinning until he transformed into the large white snake he fought the sludge villain with.
'Alright, let's do this!' He thought with a determined look in his eyes before he charged. Like an actual serpent he struck fast and he struck hard, his quick and strong jaws biting the robots clean in half before he transformed back and started running.
It was then that he was surrounded by ten three pointers, and Apophis decided to give him an idea. "Put your jaw to the ground and unhinge it, then let your powers do the rest." He told the boy.
Izuku did as told and put his jaw on the ground before unhinging it. Several other hopefuls saw what he was doing and thought he was crazy before they moved to take out the three pointers. But before they could even get close…
Out of Izuku's mouth came an ocean of small snakes, they flooded the entire area and they started to open their mouths and blades shot out, puncturing every robot within range. They all turned around and went back inside the boy's mouth, allowing him to close his jaw.
"Wow, that was intense." Izuku said to himself.
(Elsewhere)
In the observation room, the judges were all gobsmacked by what they all just witnessed.
"D-did that kid just release an ocean of snakes with blades in their mouths?!" A female voice exclaimed in well placed shock.
"That he did." Another voice nodded as Izuku continued to make quick work of the villains with his powers, one in particular by transforming his tongue into a snake and biting a one pointer by the neck and swinging it into a building.
"This kid is being pretty creative with his quirk. What's his name?" A western sounding voice asked.
"Izuku Midoriya, and according to his quirk registration form, his quirk is called: "White Serpent"." Another kindly voice noted.
"You wouldn't assume much at first glance with a name like that. It's when it's in action that it really shines." The western voice mused.
(Elsewhere)
Back with the applicants, Izuku had been able to wrack up a lucky sixty points so far, and he still had six minutes left. However he was prevented from getting any more points when the ground started to shake violently.
"What the- What's happening?!" He exclaimed as he tried to keep his footing. It was then that a gigantic robot appeared from behind the buildings, and it was staring right at them.
"Ah crap! Run!" One of the applicants exclaimed in fear as he ran away from the giant robot.
"Where do humans get the resources for this stuff?!" Apophis exclaimed in disbelief. Izuku was about to turn tail and run, but he immediately stopped when he heard someone cry out in pain, calling for help.
"Help! I'm stuck!" A familiar female voice cried out. Izuku worked around and saw the girl from earlier pinned under some rubble, and was having trouble getting out. And to make matters worse, she was about to get run over by the robot!
As if on instinct, Izuku ran towards the robot and started spinning again, growing larger and larger as he took another giant white serpent form, only this time he was the same size as the robot and on top of that… this form had eight heads!
"The ." The first head spoke.
"March." Hissed the second.
"Of." Said the third.
"The." The fourth added.
"Legendary." The fifth continued.
"Eight." The sixth added.
"Headed." Hissed the seventh.
"Serpent!" The eight finished as the eight heads started attacking the robot all at once.
(In the observation room)
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Everyone yelled in surprise as Izuku transformed.
"Did he just turn into the Yamata no Orochi?!" The female voice from earlier shouted with wide eyes.
"So it would seem." All Might nodded. He knew that the kids powers were probably gonna be strong because of who it came from, but this? This was a whole other ball game.
(Back in the battleground)
The zero pointer let out mechanical screeches as its body was viciously ripped apart by Izuku's eight heads. As this happened, the rest of the applicants watched with wide eyes.
"Everybody run!" One of the kids yelled as Izuku's seventh head ripped off the robot's arm and chucked it into a building. The kids were able to get a safe distance away as they watched the giant snake coil its eight heads around the robot and red energy coursed through its body before a massive explosion of wind pressure inside the snake's death grip caused the hunk of metal to crumble in its grasp.
As it did, Izuku slowly turned back to normal, but his body was pretty banged up from using One for All in that last attack. It was around this time that Mic called an end to the exam.
"Whew… That fight was intense." The man breathed. Izuku meanwhile laid there on the ground, his body purple from being broken in so many places.
It was at this point that an elderly woman approached the group. "Well done everyone, well done. No matter what happens today, you're all heroes in my eyes, every last one of you." She smiled. Then she came over to look at Izuku. "Oh dear, did you get this banged up by that one attack sonny?" She asked him before something crazy happened.
Izuku's mouth opened up to an absurd width before, shockingly, his right hand came out and the rest of his body came with it. Like the last time he did this, he still had his clothes and other stuff on his person. However he was also covered in bodily fluids and still had some very minor injuries. Other than that, though, he was fine.
Predictably enough, one person actually ended up tasting their breakfast again as they ran over to a nearby trash can after seeing the truly revolting display before them. Apophis also slithered his way back to his spot around Izuku's neck after having hidden somewhere safe during the battle.
"My word!" The woman exclaimed in surprise.
"Ahhh~ you have no idea how good it feels to be out of that old skin." The boy sighed as he started stretching.
"That sounds so weird." One of the applicants commented. Recovery girl simply ignored him and approached Izuku.
"Do you have any injuries that need attention?" She asked him.
"Just a few minor ones." The boy replied. The woman nodded as she suddenly kissed him on the forehead, and his wounds started to heal themselves.
"That's a useful skill." Apophis noted. The serpent-like teen nodded slightly in agreement.
"Thank you ma'am." The boy said as he turned to the girl he saved, who was busy trying to process all that happened. He then gave her a kindly smile and wave, which the girl nervously returned.
'Wow, I… wasn't expecting him to be so friendly.' The girl thought in surprise at the boy's gesture.
(A few days later)
Izuku sighed as he picked at his food, he had been waiting for his letter from UA and nothing came. He knew he passed the written exam and made a decent grade on the practical, however if he hadn't focused so much energy on the big bot his score would have been bigger… But at the same time that girl would probably be dead.
To him, saving a life outweighed the possibility of a bigger score. And to make matters worse, he couldn't get in touch with All Might. His mother took notice of this behavior and became very worried as her son seemed to have lost his usually voracious appetite.
"Sweetie, are you okay? You've been staring at your food for a while now." Inko said in concern. Izuku briefly snapped out of his stupor to look at her and answered her question.
"Oh, yeah. Just… Deep in thought." He replied.
"I know waiting for the results is torture, but keep your head up! You did great in both parts of the exam." She told him.
"I know, but there's always the possibility that someone could have done better than I did." The boy sighed.
"I find that hard to believe, considering what you did." Apophis cut in as he drank some sake. Later on, the boy continued to do his smaller workout routines until his mom burst into his room frantically with a letter in hand.
"Izuku, your results are here!" She exclaimed as she held a letter for him. The boy took the letter and closed the door as she left before opening the envelope, which caused a holo disc to drop out of it and suddenly create a projection.
"Boo yah! I am here as a projection!" All Might exclaimed as he appeared on the projection.
"Whoa! All Might?! What's he doing in a letter from UA?" Izuku asked in surprise.
"I'm sure you're wondering why I'm-" He started to say before someone waved to him from offscreen. "I'm dragging it on? Wait, I have to do how many of these?" He asked before slumping slightly. "Ahem, moving on, yes I will be the newest UA faculty member! In addition to this I have some news to share."
The boy tensed up, fearing the worst. "Your results for the written exam was just above average, however in the practical your score of 60 hero points was unfortunately outdone by another one of your peers, sorry." The man continued.
'I knew there was someone who out did me.' The boy sighed mentally.
"Fortunately though, there were other factors." The symbol of peace said, getting his attention. "But before I explain what those are: look! A video for your viewing pleasure!" He said before he turned on a screen in which Izuku saw the girl who he saved.
"Excuse me, do you have a moment?" She asked Present Mic.
"She came to talk about you, young man." All Might chuckled.
"Um, I came to ask you about the boy who helped me. He had really curly green hair, he was super pale, and he kinda looked like a snake." She continued. "I was hoping if I could give him some of my points. Because if he hadn't tried to save me, he would have gotten a better score, so I need to make it up to him!"
"No need to do that, little listener. The kid's doing fine on his own. But I'm sure he'll appreciate the gesture, though." The man said as he gave her a pat on the head.
"You may have great power now, yes, but it is your actions that inspires others. How can a hero course reject someone who's so dedicated to saving others, no matter the consequences to himself?" The hero said. "After all that is what makes a hero. So, the faculty of UA had another scoring system: Rescue points!" A screen then came up and focused on where Izuku's name was on the board, showing his score.
"What the….?" The boy gasped.
"Heroic actions are observed by a panel of judges and depending on how well they do, they get more points. Izuku Midoriya: 60 rescue points! And Ochako Uraraka: 25 rescue points!" He said proudly. "You both passed the exam, and it is with great pride that I now say to you…" He continued, his hand outstretched. "Welcome, Izuku, you've made it. You're now a part of the Hero Academia." He finished.
Izuku's eyes watered up in joy. He's done it! He's been accepted! Inko meanwhile was pacing around outside until Izuku came out. She looked at him expectantly and he just smiled cheerfully, which made her tear up.
It looked to be that UA, now had a snake in its grass…
Dragon Emperor0: The March of the Legendary Eight Headed Serpent, if that doesn't sound like a finishing move out of a video game, I don't know what is.
ThermalsniperN7: Izuku literally turned into a giant snake with eight heads… Enough said. Also, for those of you who noticed that Izuku never went to a doctor before in the last chapter, this is more or less us trying to rectify that mistake.
Dragon Emperor0: He also has the Kusanagi, whoever goes up against him with that in hand is as good as mince meat if you ask me.
ThermalsniperN7: Oh yeah. No buts about it.
Dragon Emperor0: Anyway guys, see you next time.
