Authors Note: I am going to finish this story. To be honest – I might be winging this chapter because it ended with the girls going somewhere and for the life of me I can't think of where I was going to take them. For those of you who are still here after 9 years, god bless you lol. Idk how I haven't been able to finish this, but I will this year.
I know I've said that before but I mean it I promise.
"How many more surprises can you spring on me, Santana Lopez?" Brittany said as they got into Snix.
"Babe we have a ton more places for adventure to. I can't do them all at once, you know?"
The girls got to Santana's house and started to grab things. Brittany was trying to figure out where they were going still, so she watched the things that Santana began to grab to put in the truck.
Santana was grabbing a pair of camouflage pants from her closet, a gift from her dad her sophomore year. She changed into them, and when she turned around to face Brittany she caught her staring.
"See something you like?" Santana said with a smirk on her face.
Brittany walked over, placing her hands on the small of Santana's back. "I mean, it's something much more than a like if you ask me.
Her hands slipped under her shirt as she pulled Santana in for a deep kiss. "Mmm, I love you babe."
They started to make their way towards the bed, but was interrupted by a knock at the front door.
"Fuck man," Brittany said as she pulled away. Her hands had already begun to unbutton Santana's pants. She kissed her girlfriend one more time, before re-buttoning the top of her pants. "Go see who it is."
Santana was already worked up, and didn't want to get up. She whined. "Baaaaaabe.."
"San! Britt! Are you guys almost ready?" It was Rachel and Kama. "Come on!"
"Come on babe, we don't wanna keep them waiting outside." Brittany said as she placed one last kiss on Santana's lips.
Defeated, Santana got up and fixed her hair. She shot a pouty face over to Brittany, who got up from the bed and pushed Santana up against the wall.
Santana kissed her once more, biting gently on her bottom lip. "Don't start something you can't finish, Brittany S. Pierce."
A smile appeared on Brittany's lips. "I'll finish this tonight."
With one final kiss, the girls grabbed their bags and headed outside.
"There you guys are. Damn, taking forever huh." Kama said. "I threw the tents in the back of your truck if that's okay San. I have the pop ups in mine."
Kama was using her dad's GMC. Which only meant, they were going somewhere that required 4x4.
Santana had gone into the storage closet and grabbed out her container of sleeping bags and stuff. Brittany remembered it from the first time she went camping with her.
"We're camping?" Brittany asked.
"Hell yeah. It rained earlier this week, it's gonna be perfect up there." Rachel said.
"I got your favorite blanket in here, babe. You ready to go? Rach, you riding with us or Kama?"
"I'm gonna jump in with Kama." She replied, heading back towards the truck. "Meet you guys at foodland in Waimea?"
"Yeah. I going stop at Britt's first to grab a few more things."
"Raj. See you guys there. The girls should be on their way too." Kama said as she shut her truck door and rolled the window down. "And don't take too long, make sure you guys wash your hands after."
"You faka!" Santana said as she laughed.
"Are we really going to the house before foodland?" Brittany asked as she got in.
"Just so you can grab another jacket, unless you'll be okay." Santana said as she closed the tailgate.
"I think I'll be okay. Let's just go up to Foodland so we can grab snacks and stuff."
Santana climbed in and started the truck and they headed towards Waimea.
After stopping at foodland, the girls followed each other up to a dirt road.
"San! Lead the way." Kama yelled from her truck.
There was a total of about 4 trucks. Santana, Kama, Angel and Jen.
After driving for about another half an hour, the girls all parked in a nice shady area. Most of the team started setting up while the others started setting up the grill and tables.
Brittany was looking out into the pasture area, where there were tons of puddles, including one ginormous one in the middle.
"It's pretty sick huh? We don't get to come up here often. I think as a team this might only be our second time." Kama told her. "Mana road. God, I missed it up here. You guys are gonna have a lot of work when we go back down on Sunday. Snix is about to be really dirty."
"Dirty?"
"Hell yeah. She's about to be all in those puddles tomorrow." Kama said as she grabbed two beers from the cooler. "Don't worry, they aren't too deep. If anything, we have my truck to pull if anyone gets stuck."
Brittany took the beer from her friend and talked for a little wile more. Everyone set up their tents and sleeping areas before coming back to the main tent where Angel and Nalani was cooking dinner.
It was starting to get a little cold but nothing that Brittany couldn't handle.
"Guys, guys. This is the first time the team has been all together since we won States. Let's toast."
The girls all stood up and congregated in a circle. Rachel held her bottle up.
"Alright. I just wanna say, thank you for this season. We had our obstacles this season, but we overcame them as they popped up. I know five of us are leaving, but you guys are solid. And guarans, gonna take BIIFs and States again next year!" Everyone cheered. "The end of the school year is approaching, so let's just enjoy the last few weeks we have together."
"Cheeee yessah! Cheers you fakas!" Nalani yelled. "We gonna hold it down next year, you guys are gonna come back and support right?"
"Duh, of course we are. With that being said, me and Britt have an announcement to make."
"You guys are getting married? Congratulations!" Kalei said as she tapped her bottle with Angel.
"No no, it isn't that." She laughed. "So.. Britt and I.. We got offered scholarships to play at UH Manoa next year."
Everyone erupted with cheer.
The girls had gotten their highlight reels together about a week before States. They hadn't sent anything out though. After the championship game, the scout from UH Manoa approached them as they were leaving the athletic trainer's tent.
"No seriously babe, this was probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. Of course meeting you is number one." Santana said as she interlocked her fingers with Brittany.
"Don't be all cheesy now, baby." Brittany told her.
"Excuse me, Brittany? Santana?" The girls turned to see a older lady approaching them. "Hi," She stuck out her hand. "My name is Noelani. I'm the head scout for the Rainbow Wahine Softball Team here at UH Manoa."
The girls looked at each other before each shaking her hand.
"It's really nice to meet you." Brittany said.
"It's my pleasure." Noelani said. "We've had our eye on you girls since the beginning of the season. Santana, you've been on our radar since your sophomore year. When we heard that Honoka'a made it to states, we knew that this would be the perfect time to see you guys in action in person. Especially with the injuries this season. You guys did really well for yourselves."
Santana didn't have anything to say, she was rendered speechless.
"You don't have to say anything, I know that this is a lot. Brittany," She added. "We looked into you once the season started. You had an amazing career in Oklahoma with your old high school. Watching the team grow and how you fell right in was perfect. It was like you had been playing with them for years, and that's something our team really takes into consideration. And plus, you are a fast runner and the team is in dire need for that. Your bunting skills are bar none."
Brittany turned to Santana, who was looking incredibly excited.
"It's not official yet, but the school is going to offer you two full ride scholarships to play here next year. You don't have to give me an answer now, I just thought I'd let you know first. I hope you'll consider us when you two make your decisions. Thanks for your time, and congratulations on your win. I won't keep you two from your team for any longer."
The girls hugged her before they went their separate ways. Before losing sight of her, Brittany caught her running to catch up to Rachel.
"Congratulations you guys! You deserve it. Here's to this next year, big things for everybody. Let's drink!"
Everyone cheered, and started their own conversations.
Rachel was standing on the side of the tent a little ways away from everyone. "San! Britt! Try come please."
The girls walked over and saw that she was on skype with Quinn.
"Hey Q!" Brittany said as she came into view.
"Britt! Why didn't you tell me about your scholarship offer?" Her friend asked.
"It was something I was talking to my mom guys about all week that's why. They're planning on going back to the mainland." Britt answered. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
"It's okay. But there is something that me and Rach wanted to tell you guys too. We.. we also got offered scholarships to UH Manoa. And we also accepted. So it looks like we'll all be playing together next year."
A smile crept up on each of their faces. And in seconds they were screaming with joy. It caught the attention of the rest of the team.
Rachel and Santana went over to let them all know about the good news which left the two best friends in conversation.
"You're really coming down here to play Q?! This is gonna be the best ever!"
"Yeah! Rach was on the phone with me after your guys game and she got approached by that scout. They were talking and that was when she brought my name up and Rachel put me on speaker. Apparently, because you started playing at Honoka'a, they took a look at the rest of the girls on our team too. And they were planning on calling me but it was like perfect timing that Rach called me."
Brittany was overwhelmed. Who knew that this would be the result of her moving to Hawai'i?
"Who else got offered?" Brittany asked. She turned back towards her girlfriend who was now in conversation with Angel. She felt her eyes on her and turned towards Brittany and blew her a kiss. She pretended to catch it and put it in her pocket.
"Tina. But she already got offered by USC so I think she's going to go there."
"USC is a great offer too. Are you excited Q?"
"I'm super fucking stoked B. I didn't think I'd get another chance to play with you. And a division one school? Fuck man. We did it. Remember we told ourselves, that we'd do everything we could to get on one freshman year?" Quinn admitted. "We did it."
Rachel walked back over. "I'm excited too Q. And hell yeah, you really think we wouldn't get to that goal? It's all we've ever worked for. But here's Rach back. And congratulations. To the both of you."
They thanked her and Brittany made her way back over to Santana who was now sitting on her tailgate.
"Hey babe." She told her as she sat next to her. She turned her face towards her and kissed her. The alcohol on her lips made it that much better. "You feeling okay? How come you aren't with everyone else?"
"Everyone's turning in already. You excited babe? I didn't even know that they offered Rach and Quinn too. This is gonna be the best ever."
"I'm so fucking excited." Brittany told her. "But you know what I'm more excited about?"
"What's that-"
But before Santana could say anything else, Brittany's hand was on her thigh, her lips pressed up against her neck.
Santana knew how Brittany could get when she was drinking. Her cheeks immediately got hot, prompting her to start taking her hoodie off.
Brittany kissed her way up towards Santana's ear, whispering "Let's go in the tent."
Santana hopped off the tailgate and grabbed her girlfriends hand leading her into their tent.
Once they were inside, they zipped it closed hastily. Brittany took her shirt off, the cold air engulfing her. She shivered a little.
"Is your back okay? We didn't bring anything." Santana said, immediately rubbing her girlfriends back.
"Yeah. The cold air just caught me off guard." She pulled Santana in for a kiss. "You better be quiet babe, or we're gonna hear it from the girls tomorrow."
"Oh don't worry, I will." Santana said as she kissed Brittany. "We better get some sleep at some time too, tomorrow is gonna be a busy day."
"San, when have I ever not put you to sleep?" Brittany smiled. She turned the lantern off and the girls were… Quiet.
The next day would prove to be the most fun Brittany ever had in Hawai'i.
