Chapter 2: Cheers!
Nymphadora Tonks collapsed onto her sofa, in her flat. She was trying to process all of the information Mad-Eye had told her that day. It was admittedly a lot to process. 'Voldemort was back, Sirius was innocent, and now she was joining a secret organization.' She thought.
Tonks sighed heavily, thinking of her cousin. Sirius had always been one of the sane ones in the Black family. She had strongly suspected that he had been innocent. Apparently, She had been right all along. She curled her pink hair around her finger as she lounged on her sofa. She sighed again. She wondered how Sirius was doing...
~
Sirius was waiting impatiently for Remus to return to headquarters. He had been staying with him but had been gone all day at work. Leaving Sirius alone with his thoughts. He didn't like staying in the house, but he was on strict orders from Dumbledore to stay inside.
'Damn Moony, and his stupid muggle job.' Sirius thought to himself bitterly, as he waited for his friend to return. Just Then, Sirius heard a small knock from the front door, then saw a pink haired witch poke her head into the hallway. He recognized her immediately.
"Sirius." She called out as she closed the door behind her. She clearly had not expected him to be right their in the front parlor, as she stumbled over the coat rack next to the door, causing Mrs Black to flip out once more.
"YOU FILTHY LITTLE HALF BLOOD, YOU TRAITOR, HOW DARE YOU STEP FOOT IN THE HOUSE OF BLACK."
"Sorry, she's a right fowl bitch, my mother." Sirius said to her, smiling.
"Wotcher Cousin! Tonks said, crossing the hall to embrace him.
Sirius chuckled.
"I can't believe little Nymphadora is all grown up." Sirius said, looking at her.
"Well, 'little Nymphadora' isn't so little anymore. And, it's just Tonks now. No one calls me Nymphadora anymore."
"Okay. Alright, 'just Tonks' come have a drink with me." Sirius said, leading her into the parlor.
"How have you been Tonks?" Sirius asked as he poured them both drinks.
"I've been well. Mad Eye has been keeping me busy at the auror office, as usual. Mom and dad are doing good too." Tonks told him.
"Speaking of Mad Eye, I'm assuming he told you where to find me. Otherwise your a really good guess." Sirius told her, cheekily.
Tonks laughed at him.
"Yes Mad Eye told me. I've joined the Order, so I'll be around quite a bit. If Voldemort is back, I want to help in anyway that I can."
"I'll definitely drink to that." Sirius said, raising a glass.
"Cheers Cousin!" Tonks replied.
"Cheers!"
After taking sips of their drinks. Tonks spoke up. "Sirius, your not staying here alone right?" Tonks asked, slightly concerned. Last thing he needed after Azkaban was more solitude.
"No, my friend Remus has been staying here with me."
Tonks nodded her head. Vaguely remembering who he was talking about.
The duo sat together for several more minutes, continuing to catch up with each other, until Remus came through the front door.
"Finally! Your back!" Sirius exclaimed.
Tonks surveyed the stranger in the hallway, neatly placing his traveling cloak on the coat stand.
"I've only been waiting for you for like 12 hours!" Sirius added.
"That's interesting Padfoot. Seeing as I've only been gone 7." Remus told his friend, amused.
Tonks raised her brows at her cousin Conspiratorially.
Sirius rolled his eyes.
"Just get in here." Sirius conceded.
Remus obliged, coming into the parlor to sit near Sirius. Greeting both Tonks and Sirius.
"Drink, Remus?"
"I'm good for now, thank you Padfoot." Remus responded.
"Padfoot?" Tonks questioned.
Sirius laughed and stood up, looking at Remus.
"You're gonna show her, aren't you?" Remus asked.
"Oh yeah!" Sirius laughed.
Remus just smiled and shook his head.
"What- Tonks was cut off by the visual of a big black dog jumping up into her lap, licking her face. She watched the dog in shock and awe as he ran happily around the parlor, wagging his tail, and howling.
Tonks laughed out in glee. Even Remus thought it was great.
"Okay, Padfoot. We get it." Remus told his friend, chuckling at him.
Sirius re-emerged in front of them.
"That was incredible!" Tonks laughed.
"I try" Sirius Chuckled.
the three sat together for a while longer, talking. Sirius even told a few marauder stories from when they were back at school.
Eventually, the trio realized it had gotten pretty late. So, Tonks said goodbye to Sirius and Remus, before leaving.
"See you guys on Friday at the meeting!"
Tonks called back to them as she left. Remus watched as she left. He couldn't figure out why but he was kinda sad to see the young witch leave.
Remus turned to look at Sirius who was staring at him.
"What, Sirius?"
"Did you just check her out as she was leaving?" Sirius asked, pretending to be scandalized.
"No! Remus said, louder than he had meant to.
"Mmmm, sure you didn't." Sirius said with a smirk, as he walked away.
Remus groaned, sinking down into his seat.
'Fuck' he thought to himself 'she'd never go for you anyway. Too old, too dangerous, too poor.'
