Biography:

Born and raised in a gritty, troubled neighborhood of New York, the man who would later become Avenger rose through hard work and perseverance, becoming a celebrated elite trooper overseas, at the service of his country. Back then he truly believed in the democratic principles of the United States and the American dream; regardless, while in South East Asia, he began developing a taste for killing without even realizing it.

Upon returning home, Castle retired from active duty to spend more time with wife Maria, daughter Lisa and son Frank David. When all three of them were killed in the crossfire of a gangland showdown during a Central Park picnic, Castle disappeared from the public eye, only to return as the vigilante known as The Punisher, a merciless human killing machine turning all of his training and expertise into a single man crusade against crime and corruption everywhere.

Castle entered frequent conflicts with less lethal crime fighters like Daredevil, Spider-Man, Batman, Captain America and Nightcrawler. He wouldn't kill them, but would often enjoy making fools of them whenever possible. He also made mortal enemies of many supervillains including the Kingpin, Bullseye, Doctor Octopus, the Joker, the Russian, Barracuda, and Punisher's archenemy, the disfigured and notoriously hard to kill Jigsaw. This never ending war, regardless, deepened Castle's psychological wounds even further and he took his own life, only to be revived by 'angels' trying to make him their field agent dispatching lost souls. Castle rebuked them and kept fighting crime his own way, until he was killed by Wolverine's son Daken, under the employ of Norman Osborn (also summonable as a Rider). Castle was revived a second time, this time as a patchwork abomination, but assumed a human form again by being healed thanks to the mythical Bloodstone.

Castle was one of the last legendary figures of his time to die during a cataclysmic world war, only outlived by the Hulk (Bruce Banner, also summonable as a Berserker). Of course, this is only one of the possible final outcomes for his legend.

Class Skills:

Avenger: A

The state of an Avenger Servant as one that gathers people's hatred and grudges onto oneself. It is easier for one to accumulate hatred and resentment with this Skill. The rate of mana generation becomes higher when receiving damage.

Avenger is basically a serial killer of other serial killers, mass murderers, and similar menaces to society. This is born from a combination of pure sadism that would probably have led him eventually to prey on innocents if he hadn't found his 'call', a genuine distress over the deaths of his loved ones, and a just as genuine desire to help innocents in need so they won't have to go through what the Castles experienced. Avenger is a complicated man, a living contradiction in terms all too often.

Mana Replenishment: B+

One's magical energy endlessly surges until their revenge is accomplished. Recovers a minuscule amount of magical energy every turn.

Vengeance and the destruction of all criminals was the sole reason to live and joy left for Avenger. This also applies to his existence as a Legendary Spirit. As long as there are enemies to be fought and he can listen to their screams while shooting him down, he will keep doing it until none stands anymore, but he will remain protective of the Master regardless. Evil aligned Masters, however, will also be eliminated with no compunctions or compromises.

Personal Skills:

War Zone: A

Avenger is a war veteran, a condecorated soldier with a very long sheet of service in the Marine Corps. He is a master tactician whenever it comes to guerrilla tactics, well used to combat in the jungle and in urban environments alike. He is also used to analyze superpowered adversaries greatly overpowering him, scoring several decisive victories against enemies surpassing him drastically in raw size, might and stamina.

Avenger's uniform is notable for the large white skull sign on his chest, a symbol of death meant to intimidate and shock his contrincants, striking fear into evildoers. It also draws attention and aims to his torso, which is protected by a layer of Kevlar. In terms of the Holy Grail War, this protection can absorb the average gunfire of Servants like Billy the Kid, the Joker or Calamity Jane while Avenger keeps on fighting them; however, his face remains unprotected as part of Avenger's subconscious death wish, and shots to that area might well be instantly lethal, as long as they come from another Heroic Spirit, naturally.

While Avenger will prefer not consuming souls to sustain himself, in cases of emergency he may make an exception with the souls of murderers and rapists.

War Armory: A

Avenger is always carrying several weapons in his person, concealing them within his longcoat or simply strapped to the black bodysuit he wears, or even tucked into his boots. These include fully automatic rifles, shotguns, flame throwers, large and small knives, handguns, hand grenades, nets, and even throwing stars.

Avenger is an accomplished marksman, and even can make good use of bows and arrows should he get his hands on them. He is an excellent pugilist and hand to hand combatant in addition to that, a dirty fighter who is only even more dangerous when he feels corralled or trapped. He is a good saboteur, and even able of vehicular manslaughter. He is good at improvising by using almost any object around him as a weapon, but the capacity is not enough to become a Skill of its own, like it happens in the cases of Lancelot and Bullseye.

Battle Continuation: B

The capacity to keep on fighting even after receiving life threatening or downright terminating injury, until all mana sources have been depleted.

Avenger was always stubborn and suicidally tireless in pursuit and combat. The loss of a limb in the middle of a battle will not even faze him, even if it hinders his effectiveness. He will not smile, but for him, dying while killing is probably as close as he can come to actual happiness by this point.

Noble Phantasms:

Angel Punisher- Undead Emissary of Vengeance Forces: C

Both of Avenger's Noble Phantasms can be used only when the Servant's life energy is drained, and both of them bring him back to life, in full health but dramatically altered. This process is usually automatic, but if the enemy hasn't killed him just yet, Avenger can shoot himself to activate either NP. However, the effect is randomized, so there's no way of telling which manner of revival will Avenger undergo first. Each Noble Phantasm can be used only once; after both are used, the Servant's existence will be terminated and he will return to the Throne of Heroes.

The first of these Phantasms turns Avenger into an otherworldly soldier of entities calling themselves angels, but who might have been demons. His eyes glow, he gains a limited healing factor, and his weapons are replaced by glowing, supernatural versions with unlimited ammo. For some reason Avenger hates this transformation, perhaps because it was the result of forced service to forces beyond his grasp when he only wished to rest in peace.

Franken-Castle- The Relentless Hunting Monster: C

The second Noble Phantasm turns Avenger into a monstrous, misshapen version of himself, patched back together in the manner of a stereotypical Frankenstein's Monster, but not like the historical female version recorded into the Throne. A cadaveric, lumbering, angry undead who gains an E rank of Mental Pollution, and his Strength rises to B-

During this state, Avenger is more reckless, and much more difficult to control and restrain by a Master. He will mostly abandon tactics and just charge ahead, since his death wish increases.

Summon: "You. Why are you so pale? Didn't you have any idea what you were calling forth? I'm Avenger, Servant of Punishment."

Start of Battle: "War Journal, Entry Number (at this point, Avenger will mention any apparently random number. The Master is advised not to try and make sense of his numbering). Enemy engaged. Proceeding, right now!"

Victory: "You are punished!"

"This is your punishment!"

"Go to hell, already!"

Defeat: "Damn you…"

"Come closer, punk. So I can spit on your face!"

"So this is it... The end of the war..."

Defeat by Noble Phantasm: "Maria... I'm so sorry…"

Noble Phantasm Activation: "What a pain. What a crock! C'mon, let's do this already then! I'll just come back after you!"

Extra Dialogue:

"I want you to hear this, and listen well, dirtbag... As soon as we've finished with the Grand Order... You are next! (If you have Caster or Assassin Joker, Avenger Shredder, Assassin Bullseye or Lancer Doctor Octopus).

"Oh great, so the clowns are here too, huh..." (If you have Avenger Batman, Archer Darkwing Duck, Assassin or Berserker Wolverine, or Archer Green Arrow).

"You... Huh. No, no, of course I won't try anything. Not against you. Let's... just keep our distance from each other, okay? For both of our goods." (If you have Shielder Captain America).

"You're just a kid! Damn it, what kind of bloody idiotic war is this?" (If you have Archer Kuga Natsuki).

"What the hell? Are you serious?!" (If you have Assassin Jack the Ripper or Assassin Sir William Gull).

Birthday: "Happy Birthday. I... Sorry, I guess I don't know what to say. It's been too long since I celebrated one."

Event: "No... Sorry, I don't like these things. I'll go if I must, but..."

Holy Grail: "My family? No. They are fine where they are now. Rather, I'd wish for... the destruction of every scumbag in this world..."
