(AN: Tonks makes a move, and we get to see how Remus responds. I know in a lot of stories people make it take a really long time for Remus and Tonks to realize they like each other, but I like the idea that they have a "complicated" relationship, that develops slowly over time.)

A Christmas Meeting

Tonks sat at the long kitchen table in the basement. She was finishing up a tower of paperwork that she needed to finish up for the auror office. With Remus at work and Sirius wondering around the house, it was quiet and she was able to get a lot done.

She found her thoughts drifting to Remus as she put the finishing touches on her pile of paperwork.

Tonks had made a somewhat neat pile on the table of her paperwork. She was quite proud of herself. She decided to put on a kettle for some tea. Tonks strummed her fingers against the cool wooden counter as she water for the water to boil. Tonks was hoping to spend some time with Remus, because she'd been so busy all week she had barely found the time to come by. Remus had kept his promise that he would give them a chance, but still continued to suggest she shouldn't be with him pretty much every chance he got. it was pretty obvious that his speed was very slow when it came to relationships.

Tonks was preparing her tea when the person she had been looking for cane into the kitchen.

Remus had snow all over himself, Tonks thought he looked hilarious.

"Wotcher Remus, did you get caught in a blizzard?" She asked, chuckling.

He smiled over at her as he hung up his wet coat near the fireplace.

"it's pretty nasty out." Remus told her, as he walked over to meet her.

"Maybe I should stay here with you then." She suggested.

Remus just smiled at her.

Tonks went over to him and wrapped her arms around his center, giving him a quick hug.

Remus went to give her a kiss on the top of her head, but thought better of it at the last second.

Tonk's hadn't seemed to notice, and went back to her previous task.

"Do you want some tea?" She asked, moving back to the kettle.

"Sure!" Remus said.

Tonks poured him out a cup and sat down next to him.

"Where's Sirius?"remus asked, looking around for his missing friend.

"He's with Emmeline." Tonks explained, giving Remus a knowing look.

"Of course. Should of known they'd be upstairs with each other." Remus chuckled.

"You know, that doesn't sound like that bad of an idea." Tonks suggested, flirting with him.

Remus smiled a little bit, but didn't say anything, continuing to sip his tea. He had to admit it though, he was always surprised by her.

Tonks was feeling particularly naughty and reached over, and started to undo his tie.

Remus started at her in complete shock. He couldn't believe what she was doing.

She gave him a small mischievous smile that made his heart skip a beat or two.

"Tonks..." he warned her.

"Mmmmm." She murmured, throwing his tie on the ground. "You looked uncomfortable in it." She continued, cutely.

Remus could feel himself starting to get hard. 'Why did she have to do this so close to the full moon?' He thought to himself.

He stopped her hand with his own, shifting away slightly.

She gave him a sad little look.

"I told you, we- we can't do that." Remus explained to her, stuttering slightly.

Tonks rolled her eyes at him.

"What do like not remember how to do it or something?" She teased.

Remus stared at her, before standing up and closing the distance between them.

She was sitting on the kitchen table and he pressed himself up between her legs.

Tonks gasped a little.

Remus leaned down and whispered to her.

"I could take you upstairs right now and show you that's not true." Remus was shocked the words had even come from him, and he knew that this was probably the wolf's idea more than his own...it was too close to the full moon. But, at that moment he didn't care.

Tonks insides felt like they melted. Her mouth went dry at his words.

She looked up at him. "Maybe you should." She gasped, reaching up to kiss him. she slipped her tongue into his mouth and she smiled a little when he let her. His tongue was rough and slick, she fantasized about what else it could do.

Remus knew it wasn't nice to tease her but she was so hot. His hands trailed up her sides. He could feel her blood pulsing under her skin.

"That would be nice. But we cannot." Remus told her.

He pushed some of her hair behind her ear, noticing it was her favorite bubblegum pink color.

"How about we go and do something together tomorrow instead, just you and I? He added. Smiling a little at her.

Tonks beamed up at him. "Really?" She said hopefully.

"Yeah. Let me take you somewhere tomorrow after you get home from work?" Remus asked her.

Tonks smiled at him. "Yeah." She said, hugging him.

"But, we go somewhere in Muggle London." Remus explained.

"That would make you more comfortable?" She asked.

"Yeah. I don't want the ministry to find out. Or the death eaters." Remus explained to her.

Tonks nodded. She didn't mind making concessions to help Remus feel more comfortable.

At that moment, Remus realized he was still pressed up against her body, her legs grazed the sides of his hips.

"So, the other thing? We still can't?" Tonks asked coyly.

"No." He said, pretending to busy himself in the kitchen.

Tonks didn't understand why he had to be difficult, she had never been denied like that before. Plus, they were both adults, if they both wanted to shag why couldn't they?

"Why, though?" She asked.

Remus sighed a little, bracing himself on the counter.

"The full moon is Sunday night." Remus said.

"Oh, you don't feel well?"

"No I feel alright." He explained "I just don't like having sex around the full moon." He didn't tell her, but he desperately didn't want the wolf to have her.

Tonks nodded. she kinda wanted to ask why but wasn't completely sure he'd answer.

Remus turned his head. "Sirius is coming downstairs, I can hear him."

Tonks gave him a peck on the check before suggesting they take their tea to the parlor.

When Sirius entered the kitchen several moments later, he found Remus's tie on the ground. He smiled, wondering how it got there. Remus would have never put it there.

Picking it up, he set off to find his friends.

Sirius found Tonks and Remus on the couch in the front parlor together, drinking tea and sharing the newest addition of the daily prophet.

"Oh, don't we look cozy together!" Sirius exclaimed.

Tonks rolled her eyes.

Sirius tossed Remus his tie, winking at him.

Tonks blushed a little.

Remus just smiled slightly, tucking his tie into his pants pocket. Knowing, that Sirius certainly was not going to let him live that one down anytime soon.

"Ready for the meeting later?" Sirius asked.

Tonks and Remus explained they were. The Order was going to be discussing picking up Harry from the train station. And everyone was getting new assignments.

Tonks really hoped she and Remus would be pared up again.

~

The Order meeting was to begin shortly. Remus was chatting with Molly Weasley, while Sirius and Tonks talked animatedly with Kingsley. Tonks and Remus kept stealing glances at one another from across the kitchen.

She winked at him, then turned her attention back to her conversation.

Eventually, Tonks found a seat next to Remus as the meeting started.

Mad eye jumped straight into the topics of the week. The group went over the details for picking Harry up from the train station the next week and mad eye passed out new assignments.

Tonks was extremely happy to see that she and Remus would still be working together. After the meeting had ended, Sirius found himself in the kitchen with Remus and Tonks. the three were enjoying some tea together and talking.

"Oh Tonks! I didn't tell you. Sirius exclaimed. "I set you your own room up"

Tonks was surprised. "Wait. Really?" She chuckled.

"Yeah, your here a lot and I figured it might be more convenient when you stay over late." Sirius told her. "And, I was very bored."

"Thanks cousin!" tonks said.

"It's the second door on the right on the second floor."

Tonks nodded. Taking a sip of her tea.

Remus smiled a little. He wondered if Sirius had planned on making Tonks' room across the hall from the one he had been staying in.

"Stay tonight!" Sirius exclaimed.

Tonks laughed. He was so eager for guests. She was sure he'd be delighted once Harry and the Weasley' came back around.

"I have work tomorrow Sirius, I have to go back home at some point. But, I am coming over tomorrow after work, so I'll stay over tomorrow." Tonks explained.

Sirius gave her a nod of approval.

Eventually, Tonks announced that she had to go home.

After saying goodbye to Sirius and Remus, tonks started to leave, when Remus offered to walk her home.

"Thank you for walking me home, Remus." Tonks told them as they made their way to her flat.

"Don't mention it, it's um- dangerous out here." Remus smiled.

Tonks thought it was weird that Remus still had to make up excuses to spend time with her, but smiled all the same.

"Oh yes, definitely seems very dangerous out here tonight." Tonks said sarcastically, looking around the mostly empty road.

"Alright, Alright. Perhaps it's not particularly dangerous right now." He admitted.

Tonks and Remus made it back to Tonks flat pretty quickly, and soon said goodbye to each other. Tonks didn't want to push her luck, and gave Remus a quick kiss on the cheek before saying goodnight to him, and dashing up her staircase.

Remus felt happy as he walked back to headquarters that night. He knew that they shouldn't be together, but he couldn't deny her, or how he felt about her. She made it too easy, and the way she made him feel was scary.
