Just Coffee
Tonks tossed things all over her room. Her cat, apricot stared at her from his window perch. Tonks sighed heavily.
She couldn't believe she was actually worried about what to wear for her date that night. She was pretty sure she hadn't felt like this since she was a teenager.
She groaned as she discarded her third outfit.
Tonks sighed, looking in the mirror. She had on a matching black thong and black bra. she knew Remus probably wouldn't see her underwear but she felt more confident in nice underwear so she wore it anyway.
Tonks finally decided on a pair of black leggings, maroon boots, a charcoal gray sweater under an overcoat with buttons all down the front. She also donned fingerless gloves and a leather black choker. She had even painted her nails a dark blue black color for the occasion.
Tonks admired herself in the mirror. She had decided to have dark purple hair that day. she wore her natural light eyes.
Tonks realized it was time to leave for work, so she grabbed her work supplies and her cloak and turned on the spot.
The day dragged on for the most part. Tonks busied herself with paperwork mostly and was actually able to leave an hour early after she had completed everything she had needed to do. She knew that Remus had worked that afternoon and that he probably wouldn't be back to grimauld place yet, but Tonks figured she could chat with Sirius while she waited for him to come back.
Tonks eventually made her way to find Sirius in the sitting room on the first floor landing.
"Wotcher, Cousin!" Tonks said, putting her bag down by the door.
"Hey Tonks!" Sirius greeted her, "your here earlier than I expected."
"Finished up at work early and I figured that I could come visit you." Tonks explained.
"You won't hear me complaining. I could die of boredom when Remus goes to work." Sirius told her.
"I heard you and Moony are going on a date?" Sirius said, smirking.
tonks smiled, feeling warm inside.
"Well, I - well, Yes." She said.
"I mean, it took long enough." Sirius said laughing.
"Hey, That wasn't my doing!" Tonks replied. "Even tried to shag him in the kitchen yesterday. He told me no."
Sirius looked at her. This was new information to him.
"Wait." He warned. "You came on to him and he actually told you no?" Asked, hoping he was wrong.
"Yup. Told me it was too close to the full moon."
Sirius rolled his eyes in a histrionic way.
"Of course he did." Sirius groaned loudly. "His rules..." he continued.
"Yeah, what's up with that? She asked. "There's other rules too?" Tonks clarified.
"Oh there's several, last time I checked." Sirius said bleakly.
"And he's always had these rules?" Tonks asked.
"Mmhmm." Sirius said.
Tonks sighed heavily.
"Don't worry, they will come up." Sirius laughed.
Tonks rolled her eyes.
"I mean, what are they?" She asked cautiously.
"Well, no sex near the full moon is the biggest one. And, I know that it usually has to be dark during sex too. Also, I think he has rules about where he's okay with being touched too. Honestly, he might have others. But, he'll probably tell you." Sirius explained.
Tonks huffed. Damn he was complicated.
"It seems I have my work cut out for me." Tonks said chuckling.
"Oh you definitely do. But, if anyone can help him relax it's probably you." Sirius admitted.
Tonks smiled. She was excited for their date.
Tonks and Sirius listened for a short radio broadcast from the minister about the security of Azkaban. He was desperate to appear that the ministry had full control over the prison as well as the prisoners.
Soon, they heard Remus come in downstairs.
Sirius decided to take that as his que to leave. Going up the stairs to leave Tonks alone.
Tonks walked out into the hallway, she leaned against the railing, looking down at Remus putting his stuff away.
"Wotcher, Remus." Tonks greeted him.
Remus turned to look at her. He smiled up at her in surprise.
"You're here." He said, making his way up the stairs to meet her on the landing.
"I got finished with work early."
Remus hugged her. Tonks leaned up and gave him a kiss on his cheek.
Remus smiled, and rubbed her side. Tonks thought it felt nice.
"How about that date?" Remus said, smirking at her.
"Mmm sounds like a plan to me." Tonks murmured to him. she slipped her hands around his middle, burying her face into his shirt.
She looked up at him. "You ready?" She asked.
Remus nodded kindly.
~
Remus and Tonks had settled into the front corner of a muggle coffee shop. They were situated in front of large glass windows that looked out onto the street. There was soft snowflakes swirling around and Christmas shoppers everywhere. Tonks and Remus were chatting about their time at Hogwarts. Tonks loved Remus' stories, she thought he was so interesting.
"Did you enjoy being a prefect?" Tonks asked. "I was far too troublesome to be asked." She explained.
"I think I was good at the job, but, there were definitely times when I resented the position a little bit." He explained.
Tonks nodded.
"Why did you feel that way?" Tonks asked, quizzically.
"It was hard because sometimes I had to bust my friends. Remus smiled. "There were definitely a few times when I had to threaten to tell McGonagall on them. I never did but the threat usually worked well enough." Remus chuckled.
Tonks giggled.
"Once I morphed into McGonagall when she was late for class." Tonks said.
Remus laughed. "Wait, what happened when she caught you?" Remus asked, amused.
"Well, I think it kinda looked like I was mocking her so I'm pretty sure I got a few detentions."
Remus presses his lips together, highly entertained.
"when I morph into someone it's kinda like their head on my body, which sometimes can look a little funny, and I don't think she thought the sight of herself in a skirt, unruly tie, and a velvet choker was very humorous. Tonks admitted, chuckling.
"Oh, okay. I can kinda see where that might look like derisive." Remus said, smiling at her.
"I did Dumbledore once, but, he thought it was great." Tonks said. "But, it also wasn't in class."
Remus laughed at her. He thought she was amazing.
"A lot of people wonder if I can morph my body but I can't. So I like kinda look funny as other people.
Remus nodded. Smiling at her.
"Once, I let Sirius take one of his lady friends into the prefects bathroom, but, he got caught when he was leaving." Remus explained.
"He covered for me, but I was always pretty sure McGonagall suspected I gave him the password." He continued.
Tonks laughed.
"Did you ever take a girl up there?" Tonks asked.
"Um, no." He said, chuckling a little. "I don't think I would of had the nerve to do that."
"No?" She questioned.
"It was certainly an adolescent dream of mine, but no." He said. "I probably also thought no one would want to do that."
"I would have gone with you."
Remus smiled at her. Tonks gave him a quick kiss.
Remus could imagine her soapy and wet. He sipped his coffee to try to take his mind off of the thought.
Tonks made a mental note, reminding herself to invite him to her next bath.
On the way back to Grimauld place, Tonks was catching snowflakes on her outstretched tongue.
Remus watched her, amused. Her blue eyes twinkled as she caught the flakes.
Remus ended up starting a fire for them once they had gotten back. Tonks snuggled with Remus under the blankets on the sofa.
"You know Remus." Tonks started. " You could- prob- probably call me Dora, if you wanted." She said cautiously.
Remus looked down at her. "No one else does?" He questioned.
"Well, it would kinda be a special thing, just for you." Tonks smiled at him.
Remus wasn't sure how he felt about it, but he certainly liked the idea.
"Okay, Dora" he said, kissing her on the temple.
Eventually, both Remus and Tonks went to their own rooms. Tonks put her flannel pants and her t shirt on. After going to brush her teeth she noticed that Remus' door was still open. She slipped through, sneaking up behind him. She covered his eyes with her small hands.
"Guess who." She said.
"I heard you coming." Remus said, chuckling.
"Remus! Your suppose to play along." Tonks pouted.
"Is it Dora?"
"Mhhmmm." Tonks giggled.
Remus turned to face her.
"Wotcher, Remus." She said smiling.
"Hi Tonks." He kissed her forehead.
"I'm cold." She said, wrapping her arms around his center.
Remus went over to our an extra log on the hearth.
Tonks watched him, "I might need to stay in here with you." She teased.
"Dora..."
"I don't have any expectations or anything. I just wanted to stay with you?" She asked.
Remus gave into her, pulling his blankets down so they could get into his bed together.
"Come on." Remus said, giving into her.
Tonks cuddled with Remus, sighing as she sunk into his blankets.
"Mmm, tell me a story." She requested.
Remus smiled, "okay." He said.
~
Tonks woke up early in the morning, the sun had not even started to rise yet. she looked next to her. Remus looked so peaceful when he slept. In sleep he looked far less worried, not forced to deal with the daily stresses of being a werewolf living through his second war.
Tonks pushed a piece of his hair off of his face. She drew closer to him, the room had gotten cold and he was the only heat source.
Remus stirred next to her.
"Wotcher." She whispered.
"Hi." He murmured, pulling her close to him.
"It's so cold." Tonks said, keeping close to Remus.
He took a blanket that was on the chair next to the bed and covered them with it.
" Thank you for letting me stay with you." Tonks said.
Remus rubbed her back softly. "Your good company. He murmured.
Tonks smiled. They held each other until they both drifted back to sleep.
Sirius Black found them that way as he walked past Remus's room. The door was ajar and he could see his friends holding each other.
He smiled. He was happy his friends were so happy...
