Headquarters for Christmas.
Tonks was throwing things around her bedroom looking for her missing sock.
She cursed herself, she was so unorganized.
Remus was suppose to be meeting her at her apartment that morning And they were going to go to kings cross together to get harry and the other kids. Molly was going to meet them there, so tonks figured she'd invite Remus over for the morning, and they could relax together while they waited to go to the train station. Kings cross was pretty close to her flat so they could easily walk there. After finally finding her missing sock she put the finishing touches on everything she had set out. She hadn't gone overboard but figured putting out coffee and some biscuits would probably suffice in this case.
Tonks sighed, she was excited for Remus to show up, she waited for him quietly, reading.
After a few more minutes she heard a knock on the door..she hurried over to open it. It was Remus. she beamed at him, she had gone to hug him but he ended up stepping back, looking like he could have scolded her.
"Dora, you have to ask a question!" He scolded her.
Tonks groaned. The order had decided after a few recent attacks that before members could allow anyone into their homes they had to verify that the person was who they said they were.
"Someone couldn't even use poly juice potion to turn into you. It wouldn't work." She said exasperated.
Remus smiled at her a little. She was so smart.
Poly juice potion only worked on humans. It wouldn't work properly on a werewolf, just like it wouldn't with a goblin or a giant.
"I know. Just do it anyway please." He asked. "You don't want to get out of the habit."
Tonks conceded.
"Fine." She said. "What do your friends call you?"
Remus smiled. "I've been known as Moony from time to time." He said, chuckling.
"Okay, you have to give me a question now!" She exclaimed.
"okay, that's fair." He said. Smiling at her.
"What did we do on our first date?" He asked.
"We got coffee together."
Remus nodded. And, tonks pulled him inside of her flat. As Remus took his coat and shoes off he looked around her flat, it looked the way he had thought it probably would. she had a bright blue sofa, and wired sister posters on the walls. She also had some cute Hufflepuff memorabilia as well. she had books staked in corners instead of on shelves, and she had a small orange cat that was already eyeing him angrily from his window perch.
"Welcome!" She said enthusiastically. Remus chuckled at her.
"That's my cat! His names Apricot."
"Cats usually don't like me too much." Remus said, bleakly.
"Apricot is a lover, he doesn't hate anyone."
Remus gave her a small smile. Before following her to the sofa.
Apricot stared at Remus for a few seconds before hissing at him and running into Tonks bedroom.
Tonks gasped. she turned to look at Remus.
"Merlin, you weren't kidding." She said.
Just then Apricot poked his head out to see if Remus was still there, it was like he was frozen in time. He just stared.
"Apricot stop!" Tonks scolded him. "Why is he doing that?" She asked.
"He must be afraid of me I guess." Remus said blandly.
Tonks brought Apricot to her bed, depositing him in the center.
"Don't worry about him." She said, coming to sit with him on the sofa.
Remus gave her a small smile. "I'm sorry." He said.
Tonks looked at him pointedly.
"You don't need to say sorry." She told him, giving him a soft kiss. "Apricot will get over it." She said laughing.
Tonks poured her and Remus some coffee, and they sat relaxing together for awhile.
"Biscuits?" She asked him.
"Sure, thanks." He replied, taking one of the biscuits.
"I was thinking I might stay over at headquarters tonight." She said, taking a sip of her coffee.
Remus looked down at her. "I was wondering if you would." He mentioned.
"Why, did you want me to stay with you?" Tonks flirted with him.
"That would be nice. But, Fred and George are staying in the room right next to mine." He explained uncertainly.
Tonks sighed. Having two 17 year old boys in the room over didn't sound very alluring.
"Bollocks!" She sweared, leaning back against her sofa. She was so frustrated. By the time that the kids went back to school she would probably be on her period by then. And, after that it would almost be time for the full moon then.
Remus chuckled at her softly, looking over at her form. 'she looks so nice.' He thought.
She bit her lip a little bit, looking back at him.
She shifted slightly and kissed him. She moved to straddle him, while continuing to kiss him. He didn't protest at all, she was kind of surprised.
"Mmmm." She murmured against his hot lips. "No one is around right now." She said.
Remus rubbed her back, caressing her gently.
"I know." He breathed.
Tonks slipped her small tongue into Remus's mouth.
Just then, a small beep went off near them.
"What was that?" Tonks asked, quizzically.
Remus sighed heavily.
"That's the alarm I set to go off when it was time to leave." He said in an ironic tone.
Tonks groaned, slipping off of him.
She pouted as they got ready to walk to the station. Remus kept having to adjust his pants to try and decompress his rock hard boner.
"Harry Potter better win the war." Tonks grumbled, as they went out the door to go escort Harry back to headquarters.
Remus just chuckled at her.
~
Remus looked around the platform, everything seemed to be going as planned. He, Molly and Tonks were there waiting for the kids, and Kingsley had been posted on the outside of the station as well.
Remus checked his watch, it was almost 1pm and the kids had left Hogsmeade earlier, around 7am so they technically should of been there any second.
Remus turned to watch Tonks talking animatedly with Molly. She looked adorable. She had on her black cloak that had buttons all down the front, paired with a pair of black buckled boots and fingerless gloves. It was a classic Tonks outfit. he vaguely wondered if black was her favorite color, but was brought out of his revery by the sound of a large train making its way closer and closer to the station.
Tonks and Molly had clearly also heard as they had turned to see if they could spot the large red passenger train approaching. Remus scanned the crowds making sure that the platform was safe one last time before the train arrived. nothing appeared out of place. The death eaters had been suspiciously quiet since the attack on Arthur that past Monday night. This set Remus' teeth on edge. He hoped he was wrong about what it meant.
Soon, the train had arrived and students began spilling out into the platform.
Remus searched the crowd for Harry, waving to him when he finally caught sight of him.
Harry looked relieved to see him. He came over and embraced him.
The Weasley twins immediately started talking with Remus. Ever since finding out that he was the 'Moony' from the map, they thought he was infinitely cooler.
Meanwhile, the other kids quickly began complaining about Professor Umbridge. Tonks noticed that Harry seemed kinda somber. Almost spacey, like his mind was somewhere else. She reminded herself to bring it up to Remus once he could separate himself from the Weasley twins, who were now telling Remus about all the new joke products that they had been crafting.
Molly glared at her sons.
"Well, if you two spent half as much time on your actual school work as you do your little jokes, then I probably would get less letters from Professor McGonagal." She scolded them.
Remus gave the twins a sympathetic, but pointed glare.
"Behave yourselves, gentlemen." Remus said, smiling at them, before he told the group that they should probably be going. he could see the Malfoy' family a few hundred yards down the platform and didn't want to risk staying any longer than needed.
Tonks was grateful that Remus had made the suggestion. she knew it wasn't safe to keep Harry out in the open for too long.
After getting back to headquarters, the kids split off to do their own things, and Harry was with Sirius. this left Tonks with Molly and Remus in the kitchen.
Molly was giving them updates about Arthur.
"The doctors feel positive that he will be able to come home by Christmas, so that's good at least." Molly explained.
Tonks and Remus shared in her delight that Arthur would be okay.
Later that night, Tonks and Remus were alone in the front parlor. It was pretty late, and almost everyone had gone off to bed. Sirius was still up but he was being occupied by the twins upstairs. They had insisted that they show him all of their newly developed products.
Sirius would occasionally bark in a fit of laughter, eliciting chuckles from Tonks and Remus.
"At least he's enjoying himself." Remus said, fondly.
Tonks agreed, nodding her head.
Tonks brushed his fingers against his, and he let her intertwine her small hand with his.
"You know, I meant to mention this earlier." Tonks started. "Harry looked kinda upset today. Did you notice?" She asked.
Remus looked at her. He had been with Sirius when Harry had told them that he had a dream Arthur had been hurt. He hadn't given too many details and he hadn't mentioned the part about the snake. But, it clearly had effected him, and Remus worried that Harry had purposefully left parts out of his story. But, he wasn't sure if he should tell Tonks. He was pretty sure Harry didn't really want other people to know about it.
"I think that everything that happened with Arthur this week was really hard on him." Remus explained, leaving the part about the dream out. "I'll mention it to Sirius, he'll make sure he's alright." Remus continued.
Remus suspected that Harry would feel better once Arthur was home again. He knew he certainly would. he couldn't help but still feel pretty horrible for Arthur.
Remus felt Tonks warm head lay on shoulder.
He smiled, kissing her on the top of her head.
Tonks shifted looking up at him. She kissed him softly, and he ran his hands up and down her back. Tonks was intoxicating.
He allowed her to deepen the kiss, allowing her tongue into his mouth.
Remus was distracted by tonks and hadn't heard someone coming down the stairs.
Behind Tonks was a small gasp.
They both turned to see Molly in the doorway, she looked extremely shocked and a little embarrassed to have interrupted them.
Molly just stared for a decor so before stuttering. "I'm-I'm so sorry. I didn't think anyone was down here." She explained. She seemed really flustered.
Remus spoke first. "Molly, is everything alright?"
Molly rung her hands together. "Oh, I don't know. I'm kinda thinking maybe leaving Arthur at the hospital wasn't right. Maybe I should be there." She rambled, nervously.
Tonks and Remus gave each other worried looks.
"Molly, it's really late, he's probably asleep by now. And, you're in your pajamas. Why not just rest tonight, go back first thing in the morning." Tonks said. Sweetly.
Molly looked slightly less worried after this but continued to fret.
"Oh, maybe your right." She explained. "I'm just worried he's not safe there all alone." Molly continued.
Remus nodded, listening to her.
"But Molly, Arthur isn't alone. He has two Order members with him, making sure he's safe. Hestia and Emmaline are very capable, I promise he's in good hands. I'm sure he wouldn't want you to worry." Remus said, trying to calm her.
Molly nodded her head but still looked totally freaked out.
tonks stood up closing the distance between her and Molly. "How about we go get some tea in the kitchen. it'll help take your mind off of things." tonks insisted.
She finally agreed. Tonks gave Remus a small smile before leaving the room.
"Here." Tonks said, as she handed Molly a fresh brewed cup of tea. "That should help you sleep." Tonks explained.
Molly smiled. "Thank you, Dear." Molly said.
She slowly took a sip of her tea.
"Arthur and I haven't spent this many nights away from each other in the whole time we have been married." Molly admitted.
"Really?" Tonks asked.
"Mmmmm." Molly murmured. "Been together since we were 16."
Tonks smiled at the older woman.
"That's sweet." Tonks said. "He'll be back with you in no time. You'll see." She said, encouraging her.
"Can't come soon enough." Molly said, fondly.
Tonks was happy she was able to make Molly feel a little better. She always seemed like the one doing everything for everyone else.
Just then, Molly cleared her throat.
"Ah, Tonks. I'm very sorry about earlier. I didn't know about you and-and Remus." Molly said, looking into her cup of tea.
Tonks blushed a little bit.
"I just wouldn't have thought- " Molly continued before stopping.
"Bit of an unlikely pair, huh?" Tonks asked, grinning.
"sometimes those are the best pairs in my opinion." Molly said, with a kind fondness.
"Thank you Molly." Tonks said, very glad she had responded positively. She hoped her enthusiasm might calm some of the worries that Remus had about them being together.
Eventually, tonks walked Molly back upstairs.
Once they reached the front parlor, Tonks said goodnight to Molly.
"Goodnight Molly, don't hesitate to come find me if you need anything."
"Your such an angel, thank you again dear." Molly called back as she made her way back up the stairs.
Remus was smiling at her when she finally made her way back to the couch.
"So, I guess Molly knows now." Remus said a little comically.
Tonks chuckled at him.
"You're alright with her knowing, right?" Tonks asked a little cautiously.
Remus considered the question for a few moments.
"I think that's probably alright." Remus said.
Tonks smiled, leaning into him.
"She told me she thought we were a cute pair." Tonks said, giggling.
"Molly is very kind." Remus said.
After a few seconds of silence, tonks asked Remus something she had been wondering for some time.
"Remus, if people ask about us, what do I say." Tonks asked.
Remus looked down at her.
"Well, I suppose you could tell them what you'd like. We're dating casually, I guess." He said, a little unsure.
Tonks nodded, and rested her head on Remus. It was not the answer that she had really wanted but, it was better than nothing she thought.
For now just being with Remus was nice. To be able to just hug him, and sleep with him, and shag him was okay with her. at least for right then.
"Can I please stay with you tonight? I promise I'll behave." She said, mischievously.
Remus chuckled.
"Yeah, you can stay."
