It was a hot and humid summer day when the door of Grimmauld place banged open on early afternoon in June, causing Mrs. Black to shriek and yell.

Tonks took the stairs of Grimmauld place two at a time, completely out of breath, with her hair flying in her face, she flew across the landing to Sirius mothers bedroom, on the top floor.

"W-what happened?!" Tonks exclaimed, clutching a stitch in her side. Sirius and Remus looked up to see her, busting into the room.

"we don't know." Sirius practically yelled at her, kneeling over the gravely injured Buck Beak.

"I need help, every time Remus tries to come over here, Buck beak freaks out!" Sirius yelled, motioning towards his friend standing near the door.

Remus was just standing near the doorway, looking like he wished he could help in some way. Tonks ran forward to help Sirius immediately.

Buck Beak had a horrible leg injury on one of his front legs, so every time he attempted to stand up he would trip and fall back down to the ground.

Tonks attempted to help Sirius wrap up the large animals front leg, to help at least stop some of the bleeding. "Oh Sirius, how could this have happened inside?" Tonks asked.

Sirius just looked at her gravely, shaking his head. He clearly hadn't a single idea as to how or why this had happened ether.

Over the next two hours, Remus ran in and out of the bedroom every few minutes, trying to get them as much medical supplies as possible. He couldn't help in any other way unfortunately, each time he attempted to go anywhere near buck beak, the giant bird would shriek worse than Mrs. Black.

"I sent an owl to Hagrid, to see if he has any suggestions on how to assist." Remus told them both, when he returned to the room after a brief absence.

Sirius and Tonks were covered in blood, leaning against the back wall of the room, looking exhausted.

For now, the great beast was okay, and was sleeping nearby.

Remus walked over to the pair, sitting down next to them. He helped Tonks wipe the blood off of her arms, and chatted quietly with them about what could have happened to the great beast.

"It was sabotage." Grumbled Sirius, angrily.

Done by whom, exactly?" Remus mused, cautiously.

Sirius just shrugged his shoulders. "As far as I'm aware, we were the only people here in the house today. And, obviously it wasn't either of us." He said, gesturing to himself and Remus.

"no one else was here earlier?" Tonks asked, concerned.

"As far as I'm aware, no-." Sirius stopped talking, before an evil look crossed his face.

"What is it?" Remus asked.

"It was Kreacher." He growled, angrily

Both Remus and Tonks looked at Sirius completely bewildered, by this statement.

"What- " Remus meant to question Sirius about this statement but before he could finish talking, a small "Pop" from the hall could be heard.

All three looked up to see a bright shining silver doe striding into the room. The small does turned its head towards the occupants of the room before speaking.

"Black. I assume you are in fact at Grimmauld Place currently?" It spoke in the snide bitter voice of Severus Snape.

All three of them looked at each other, confused why Severus would be contacting Sirius on a weekday, so late in the day.

"I mean, I'm assuming I should reply to Snivilus?" He asked Remus.

Remus nodded, still unsure why he'd be contacting them on a weekday anyway.

"I'll be back. Got to go get Mad eye." And with that, Tonks left.

Once she left, Sirius asked the question he had been burning to ask.

"Why's Snape's patronous a doe?"

"Ah-you know. I don't know Sirius. I've actually never considered that to be honest."

But Sirius had a point. A very fair point.

They had both known another person to have that same patronous. And, at that moment Remus and Sirius looked at each other. Both wondering the same thing.

Why was Snape's patronous the same as Lily's had been...

With a wave of his wand, he replied to Severus.

"Of course. And, As you've pointed out countless times, I do not have outside privileges."

And, with another flourish of his wand his patronous was gone.

After an hour, they hadn't heard anything back from Severus, and they started to worry.

"Is it weird that he hasn't replied yet?" Sirius asked Remus.

"a bit."

With Buck Beak resting, Remus and Sirius went downstairs to sit in the front parlor, and soon were joined there by Mad Eye, and Kingsley Shacklebolt.

"So, he never responded again after that?" Mad Eye asked.

"No. Nothing since then." Remus explained.

Just then. Albus Dumbledore walked through the front door.

"Hello." He said, greeting them all."

"Unfortunately, we appear to have a big problem." Albus told them.

Everyone looked at him, concerned.

"Albus, what's going on?" Mad Eye asked.

"Earlier this afternoon, Harry was caught attempting to use the floo network in Umbridge's office. Has Harry attempted to contact headquarters today?" He continued, asking Sirius.

"As far as we are aware, no. But we were upstairs most of the day. Buck beak was injured." Sirius said, standing up.

Dumbledore looked at him concerned.

"What's going on? Is Harry in trouble with that Hag Umbridge??" Sirius asked concern.

"Oh, we are beyond that Sirius. Today, when Harry was caught, Severus was summoned to Dolores' office. And, Harry told him that HE had padfoot, in the place where it's hidden."

"NO."

"WHAT?!?"

Remus and Sirius shouted.

Kingsley and Nad Eye looked Shocked.

"Now, it would appear that Harry and several of his friends are not on the grounds. Severus went to look for them directly after he found out that Sirius was in fact safe, but was unable to find him after they had lured Umbridge to the forest. We are left to believe that Harry must think you are at the ministry. We're going to have to go after him." Dumbledore explained quickly.

"We should go immediately then." Sirius said panicked.

Everyone looked at him..uncertain what would happen.

"Sirius.." Remus started to say.

"There's no argument. I'm going. End of story."

"I believe you should all go. But, Sirius, once reinforcements come, I need you to come back here immediately, the ministry is still looking for you, and we don't want you to be arrested!"

"Go ahead of me, I'll catch up, I need to check a few things before." Albus told them.

"Deal." Sirius said, solemnly.

Mad Eye, Remus, Kingsley, Sirius, and Tonks all skidded out of one the lifts in the ministry.

"Level Nine, let's go." Called Mad Eye.

And together they ran along a long corridor. Tonk's recognized the place as the hallway where they usually were for guard duty.

After going through several doors, they heard yelling.

Around a corner, the five of them found Ginny, Hermione, Ron, and Luna.

"Relashio!!" Remus yelled, at a huge brain with long tentacles that was attempting to strangle Ron.

Ginny, who appeared the least injured, yelled out.

"There's Death Eaters through there.!!!" She shouted, pointing towards the room across the hall.

Together they ran through the door. There would be time later to access the injured.

On the other side of the door, the group of them found Harry and Neville with at least 8 death eaters.

And, then. Everything blew up.

Sirius attacked Malfoy, his jinx sending Malloy back several feet.

Then, in turn each of them was fighting their own death eater.

Harry and Sirius each fighting with a death eater on the arch in the center of the room.

In the corner, Kingsley and Mad Eye were both fighting huge death eaters of their own.

Meanwhile, Remus' heart almost stopped when the death eater fighting Tonks, shot a killing curse at her that she very narrowly missed Tonks. But, in his distraction a curse almost hit him too.

Suddenly, Mad Eyes magical eye flew past him, on the other side of the room Mad Eye, was still attempting to fight his death eater one eyed.

Tonk's was fighting the biggest bloke in the place. He sent curse after curse everywhere, flying all around the chamber.

Tonks stunned him, and Remus felt like he could breathe again. But, Then Bellatrix took his place.

Remus was helpless, he couldn't do anything to help Tonks, as he was now dueling two. His death eater and the one who had been dueling Mad Eye. Who now laid injured on the floor.

Tonk's ran and darted around Bellatrix's spells.

"Ha. Come on pretty. You can do better than that." Bellatrix taunted her.

Then, suddenly. One of Bellatrix's jinx just hit Tonks, causing her to trip and fall, hitting her head hard on the ground.

Remus looked back and saw this, his heart felt like it could have stopped from the fear of seeing her on the floor, injured.

Then, Bellatrix turned to Sirius, and he picked up where she had just left off.

Harry and Neville had run to the very back of the room at this point, getting out of the way.

Remus shot one more hex at his opponent, to his advantage. Rosier fell next to Malfoy, not moving.

The next thing he knew, he looked up to see the only fighters left in the room. Bellatrix and Sirius were fighting to the death. Shooting one curse and hex at each other after another. looks if deepest hate etched on their faces.

In a rage, Sirius mimicked the words she has said to Tonks just minutes before.

"Come on! Now, you can do better than that."

But that brief second of bravado, of cockiness, cost Sirius very dearly.

Bellatrix was prepared to kill him. And, while Sirius' guard was down, she shot a perfectly aimed killing curse at him. And, it hit him straight in the chest.

Remus' mouth went dry, as he saw Sirius face faulter just slightly. His last laugh still etched on his face.

Then, He fell silently through the death vail a top the altar he and Bellatrix had been dueling on.

Before Remus even had time to respond, before he could try to retaliate. To punish Bellatrix, Harry had ran forward towards the arch, and Remus had to use every bit of emotional and physical strength he had to grasp Harry and stop him.

"NO. Sirius! Sirius." Harry yelled. As Remus held him back from the arch.

Remus felt like he couldn't even breathe, he certainly couldn't speak.

Sirius was dead.

"H-Harry he can't come back." His voice broke, as he spoke to Harry. Who was Still trying to chase after Bellatrix.

Then, Harry stopped struggling. Remus let his grip on Harry Slacken just slightly, and Harry took advantage of this, bolting forward to chase after Bellatrix.

"No. Harry, come back." Remus yelled after Harry.

But, only a few seconds later, just before Remus was about to chase after Harry. Dumbledore bursted through the door beyond the arch way.

"Take care of the injured, Remus. I will go after Harry." Albus said casually. Walking away towards Harry.

With that, Remus ran over to Tonks' side, as Kingsley was attending to Mad Eye.

"Dora! Dora!" Remus called out, as he knelt down to see if Tonks was okay.

Tonks stirred slightly, but remained unconscious.

Tonks woke up with a horrible headache, staring up at the hospital ceiling.

She knew she must be in St Mungos.

"Ah." She murmured, trying to sit up slightly.

"Dora." A familiar voice croaked.

Tonks looked over to the corner of her room, to see Remus looking over at her.

"What happened?" Asked Tonks slowly.

"They think you have a concussion, you hit your head." He said matter of fact.

"Oh." She said.

"But, what happened to everyone else, are the kids okay?!" Tonks asked urgently.

Remus put his hand up to calm her. "The kids are fine, they are resting."

"Mad Eye got injured, but is going to be okay." He continued.

Tonks nodded.

"Sirius. What happened to him, did he escape before the ministry got there?" Tonk's asked.

Remus' face drained of its remaining color when she asked this.

"I-I'm sorry. But, Bellatrix K-killed him." He said, sadly. Sniffing a little.

Tonk's gasped. That was horrible.

"Oh. Remus. I'm so sorry." She said, reaching over to hug him.

He hugged her back.

"I have to go now." He told her.

"Wait, why do you have to go?" Tonks asked.

"The healers have been a little weird. I think they know about me." Remus explained.

"Oh." Tonks said. "It's okay, I understand."

But, Tonks couldn't help but feel like that was an excuse. Especially, when her healer came back in and kindly asked where her friend had gone off to.

She considered that perhaps Remus had such bad experiences at the hospital as a child that it just made him uncomfortable to be there. But she couldn't shake the feeling that he had just wanted to make sure she was okay, before leaving, and that he hadn't really wanted to stay with her at all.

(AN: Im sorry I killed Sirius. But, I have a surprise in the next chapter about this. Sirius had to die, but that doesn't mean I won't let you find out just what happened to him after he went through the veil. Hope you're enjoying my story!)
