Chapter 8: A Threat Approaches
"Higher… Higher… Perfect!" Reno yelled as Hayner and I grunted putting the large board down panting lightly.
"You know you could help." Hayner said giving him the stink eye while Reno shook his head flopping his sprained wrist saying, "Doctors orders are to stay off of it for a few days."
Hayner rolled his eyes while I just smiled shaking my head jumping down replying, "No matter it's done now."
We looked at the roof we'd just finished fixing smiling at our accomplishment, most of the village was starting to help get things done. It had been a few days since the funeral, and I was feeling a little better but still antsy about who they planned to have replace the Third Hokage.
"Wish Ren-sensei was here so we knew we could go home." Reno said scrunching his nose while I replied, "I think he's with his sister, I'll find him."
They both nodded as I walked away seeing some kids running around laughing but stop for a moment hearing them whisper, "She's the blood lady from the Chunin exams… so weird."
Frowning I sighed, I knew revealing my ability would become slightly problematic for some people. Thankfully it was only the younger kids who were freaked out by it, others came over to me saying how cool it was. I saw the Dango shop in the distance hearing little bells as I walked by a tall man and a smaller one covered in a cloak and straw hat. I briefly saw the eyes of the shorter one stopping for a moment, was that the Sharingan?
I stood still for a moment as they passed reaching the Dango shop noticing Ren sitting with Kurenai and Asuma while I said, "Hey… is there anyone beside Sasuke that has the Sharingan?"
Seeing them all tense up at the mention of that they stood up as Ren put his hand on me saying, "Go find Kakashi at the training field now."
Nodding quickly, they ran off while I went in the opposite direction getting a bad feeling about this jumping through the trees to the training field. He was sitting in a tree reading a book as I stopped in front of him seeing him look at me surprised.
"Yuna… what is it?" he asked curiously while I said, "Ren-sensei asked me to find you."
His face became more serious replying, "What for?"
"I don't know I just asked if someone besides Sasuke had the Sharingan cause this guy walked by me with it." I replied confused seeing his eye widened taking off ahead of me.
"What's going on?" I asked going in the direction I saw them as he said, "Itachi Uchiha… he's Sasuke's older brother."
My eyes widened, I had heard an Uchiha murdered their clan but what on earth was a wanted criminal doing back at the village. I saw them in the distance seeing the larger guy take his sword out ready to strike Ren. Grabbing a kunai in my pack I cut my hand pushing my palm out as my blood sprang to life putting up a shield in front of Ren just in time.
The man looked surprised turning in my direction to see myself and Kakashi standing together while the shorter man looked towards us with mild curiosity. He began talking to Kakashi knowing him seeing that Kakashi also had one eye that was the Sharingan, no wonder they wanted him.
"Yuna stay out of this fight, they are way to advance for you." Ren said making me look at him with a defeated look moving to the side as Kakashi faced off against Itachi.
They moved fast going back and forth with one another amazed by the power of the Sharingan never having fought against it. Kakashi talked about why they were here in the Leaf Village learning that Naruto had the Nine tailed fox inside him making my eyes widened surprised. They were a part of a group known as Akatsuki which contained S-Rank rouge shinobi.
"Your skill in the Sharingan is impressive, especially for one that wasn't born to it… however, can you handle more?" Itachi said calmly while Kakashi tensed saying, "All of you shut your eyes now!"
I quickly closed my eyes tightly as Itachi began talking about his Genjutsu hearing Kakashi cry out in pain wanting desperately to help. I heard Kakashi fall into the water hearing his breath ragged making my teeth grit. Concentrating my blood that was still dripping from my wound into the water it followed Itachi's voice. I tightened my fist hardening my blood in his direction hearing the water move but no sign of struggle.
"This blood user is quite impressive… but they all know too much, Kisame finish them off." We heard opening my eyes seeing Itachi moved to the side as Kurenai, Ren and Asuma moved in front of me as protection.
They began clashing against Kisame seeing his large sword shred Ren's side while Asuma and Kurenai got thrown to the side. I moved in front of them glaring at the fish man as my blood sprouted to life into spiked chains hovering to protect them.
"You got spunk kid, too bad I have to kill you, you'd make a great Akatsuki member." Kisame said smirking towards me as I tightened my grip saying, "I'd rather die!"
"That can be arranged." he said going to attack me but staying strong standing between him and the Jonin.
Right before he made contact with my blood, I saw a flash of green appear kicking Kisame to the side looking up to see Guy flashing me a smile.
"Sorry I'm late." he said looking over at Kisame and Itachi hearing Itachi say, "We should leave before reinforcements come."
Guy went to go attack them, but they quickly disappeared making me turn towards Ren putting my hand on his shoulder.
"You did good kid." he said as I nodded trying to smile attempting to stand up but feel my body falter going to fall.
I felt Guys hand land on the small of my back keeping me from passing out, I must have used too much Chakra at once. Looking to my hand and the water around me blood was surrounding me, or lack of blood would do it.
A few other Jonin showed up as Guy picked me up taking us all to the hospital, but I passed out before we made it in.
