Phase 5: Valley of Death
An echoing voice pierces through Leon's mind to see a weird, robed figure looming over him. "Soon my good sir, you will not be able to resist this new gift we have given you. You are part of our family now," a creepy old man said as Leon woke up to be sitting on a chair with his hands bound behind his back.
"What the hell?" Leon wondered as he noticed the guy he saved is behind him in the same situation he is now.
"Oh boy, you wake now cowboy?" Luis asked.
"Yes but we are in a bit of a bind here," Leon said.
"Seems like it. We can adjust our position to get out of this," Luis said as he is slowly twisting his hands to get out of the rope.
"Well, we got the same idea," Leon said.
"What is your name?" he asked.
"Leon," Leon said.
"Luis Serra. Rebel and ladies' man. I have to ask something. Why are three American agents doing in the middle of nowhere?" Luis asked as Leon pulls out a photo of Ashley. "Oh, quite the pretty thing is she? Almost princess-like," Luis said.
"We are looking for someone. Do you know where she is?" Leon asked.
"Agents trying to find a pretty girl. She must be the president's daughter," Luis said as Leon is a bit surprised and suspicious at this accurate guess.
"That is too good of a guess. Can you explain that?" Leon asked.
"Psychic powers," Luis said dryly as Leon raises his eyebrows to almost believe everything he has fought in the past. "No man, I am fucking with you, amigo. I overheard the villagers talking about a captive being held in the church," Luis said.
"Good intel. Also, what the hell is going on here anyway?" Leon asked.
"These villagers are infected with something called Las Plagas and they are called Ganados. People infected with this parasite are what they are called," Luis said.
"Gee, that is madness," Leon said as he ponders over what heard in Raccoon City. "It's happening again, more innocent people turning into monsters," he thought as they hear someone coming into their room.
The duo was almost done getting out of their binds to see a Ganado wielding an ax. Leon gets out of his seat to use his rope to use it like a whip to slap the face of the Ganado. This stuns him and Leon puts the rope around his neck to put a lot of force to snap his neck.
"Good work Yankee, I need to leave. Good luck," Luis said as he moves out of the room to leave Leon behind.
"That was odd," Leon said as he noticed his weapons and gear is not there. "Well, I need to get my stuff back," Leon said as he begins to move to secure a knife off the dead Ganado. "Better than nothing," he thought as he contacted Hunnigan. "Hunnigan, this is Leon," Leon said.
"Leon, what happened? I can't contact you before," Hunnigan said.
"Well, I was a bit tied up but I am okay. We managed to find the traitor whose name is Luis Serra," Leon said.
"Luis Serra, that name sounds familiar. I want to check up on him with a background check," Hunnigan said.
"Cool, can't be too careful. Also, he mention Ashley being held up in a church in the area," Leon said.
"Good Work. Where are the others?" she asked.
"Ark and Makoto are captured as well. I am going to save them and get back to the mission," Leon said.
"Alright, seems like things are getting out of hand there," Hunnigan said.
"Understatement of the year. Speak with you later when I got everyone back," Leon said as he looks down to see his jacket is missing. "gee, I just brought that. It was comfy too," Leon said as he pushes forward with only a kitchen knife to go through the dark hallways to be in some sort of warehouse.
He goes through a window to see three Ganados wielding melee weapons trying to encircle Leon with one of them using a shovel to bash his head. Leon rolls under the attack to stab into the villager's throat to rip out a chunk to kick him onto the floor.
Leon uses the knife to block a Ganado's ax to stun him into going in to snap his neck. Leon shoves the corpse into the last Ganado to dropkick him onto the floor. She slits the villager's throat to kill him.
Leon clear around the area to go forward to keep it quiet to see the remaining villagers try to find him. Leon sticks to the shadows to see one passing by as he grabs him back into the corner to silt his throat.
"Krauser's lessons do come in handy," Leon thought as he swiftly go through the area to take out the enemy with covet throat slashes. He hides the bodies in the shadowy corners to leave the area behind with corpses.
He goes into the room to find his stuff. "Cool, time to find the others," Leon said as he takes his pistol, shotgun, and other things to head to the door to see a shiny pocket watch that looks expensive. "Keeping this," Leon said slipping it into his pouch as he noticed a robed figure right behind the door.
"Over here stranger," the man said as eon is confused by this.
"Who is this guy, sounding like a pirate," Leon thought as he opens the door to see the hooded man within his shop waiting for Leon.
"Good to see you, Stranger," the guy said.
"Who are you?" Leon asked.
"I am just a humble merchant trying to make a living here," Merchant said.
"Okay, are you with them?" Leon asked as the merchant laughed at him.
"Nope, not really. I am just a neutral party trying to make a living here in the region. Sadly, this region went to hell a few years back when this cult appeared and caused trouble," Merchant said.
"Seems like it, this area became a nightmare," Leon said.
"On the record I am neutral and I will not give you special treatment but getting the cult out of here would be a good cause worth fighting for," the merchant said.
"No doubt, what is beyond that gate?' Leon asked.
"Oh, the Valley of Death awaits you there. You are going to need a long-range option to take out targets from afar," the merchant brings out an M1A battle rifle which is a semi-auto-only version of the M14 rifle. "This bad boy will do the job. You got any pesetas?" Merchant asked.
"No, but I got this," Leon places a nice-looking pocket watch on the table for the Merchant is impressed with this.
"Oh, this is rare. I will trade you this for the rifle along with a 3x power scope to go with it," the Merchant said to exchange the treasure for the new gun for Leon. "As long as you have cash or treasure, we will make good friends stranger. Good hunting," Merchant said.
"Thanks," Leon cocks the scoped battle rifle to check it has a 10 round magazine. He goes through the gate to see a chasm covered in platforms and bridges connected to the rocky walls. "Little base in the sky. Better seek out the others," Leon looks through the scope of his M1A to see a few Ganados set up on roofs.
He fires quick precise shots to take out a few villagers to raise the alarm for the group is coming in to protect their captives. Leon fires into the legs of the incoming Ganados to blow off their limbs with powerful shots.
He fires onto a stick of dynamite within the hand of the villager to set off an explosion that takes out a group of enemies. "Get the first house and save one of them," Leon thought as a few Ganados rush up to him. He switched to his shotgun to blow the first villager in half with gore and blood scattered onto the ground.
He heads for a bridge that leads to the first house to see some villagers rushing at him to blow them away. Leon kicks down the door to see Ark chained to a wall with villagers blocking Leon's path. "Get away from him," Leon comes in like a hurricane protecting his best friend to use his pistol and knife to cut and shoot his way through to get to his good friend.
"About time dude," Ark said as Leon uses his pistol to break the chains to free him. Ark uses his mighty kick to knock a Ganado into a wall. He grabs a pitchfork to impale a nearby villager to stick him to a wall.
"You are welcome, where is Mako?" Leon asked as Ark grabs his gear off the table to spread a wave of bullets from his MAC-10 machine pistol.
"She is in the house over the bridge," Ark said as they hear a big roar in the distance. "What the hell is that?" he wondered.
Leon looks through the rifle's scope to see a large Ganado wearing a bull's head like a mask and wielding a big hammer.
"We are got a big guy coming our way," Leon said as he tosses his spare kitchen knives into the necks of nearby enemies to watch the blood flow out of their necks. He follows up using headshots with his Silver Ghost to clear up the house. "Time to get out of here," Leon said as he fires from his battle rifle to hit the big bull-man to stun him a bit but he still keeps heading for them.
The two men leap out of the house and they get back outside. Ark pulls out his M1911 pistol to pop shots into the heads of incoming Ganados clearing a path to Makoto's house. He sees a bunch of Ganados on a bridge over the chasm. He fires at the ropes to make the bridge collapse making all the enemies fall into the depths.
"Good shot," Leon said as he snipes several targets with his M1A rifle. Knocking down enemies to blow off limbs and take off their heads. The duo goes across the bridge with the big bull-man walking around shoving aside any Ganados in his wake with his brute strength.
"Things keep getting worse," Ark said as they rush towards the house with several villagers following behind them. Leon turns around to fire his shotgun to blow them away with missing limbs fallen onto the platform.
The bull-man is rushing at them to slam into Leon to knock him near the edge of the platform. "Not so fast big guy," Ark is peppering the man with .45 caliber bullets to cut into him and stun him. Ark uppercuts the bull-man to knock him down. "Hey Leon, you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah I am good," Leon said flipping back onto his feet to fire his shotgun to knock the Brute down again. Both leaps through the window to see Makoto chained to a wall just like Ark was. "Mako, stay away from her," Leon uses his pistol and knife to slice up throats and popping heads with his pistol.
"My hero," Makoto said sweetly as Leon shoots the chains to free her from her bind.
"You okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, I am fine. Seems like we got company," Makoto takes her stuff like her R700 bolt action sniper rifle and MP-412 Rex revolver. They see the door break open to see the Brute walking with his huge hammer as Makoto fires a few magnum shots into the Brute's head badly damaging him.
Leon and Ark team up with double kicks to knock back the monster Brute. Leon put heavy rounds into his head to finally kill the Brute. "Fin," Leon said as the trio is back to head for the end of the valley to get to the gate.
"Time to get back to the village," Makoto said as she noticed Leon's brown jacket is gone. "Oh babe, where is your jacket?" she asked.
"They took it, it was comfy too," Leon said feeling annoyed about it.
"That sucks, you look pretty handsome in it," Makoto said.
"That sucks indeed, I have my favorite green jacket," Ark said patting his warm jacket with pride. The trio heads out to see more Ganados trying to attack them from all sides.
"What a pain in the ass," Makoto uses her sniper skills to put in accurate headshots to take out a few enemies high up onto the platforms trying to toss flaming bottles down onto them.
Leon aims his rifle to cut through the chests of the Ganados to put them down. "Where did you get that rifle from?" Ark asked.
"Weird story, tell you when we get out of here," Leon said as he fires onto ropes to take out a bridge to make a group of villagers fall to the abyss below. Ark tosses a grenade to take out a bridge cutting them off from the enemy.
They managed to get to the end of the valley to see the gate for more Ganados coming across the different bridges. They all shoot at the bridges to cut off the other side making the Ganados unable to reach them.
"Oh boy, that was nuts," Leon said as he hands over the rifle to Ark. "Here, I have enough weight with this shotgun," Leon said to hand the rest of the ammo to his friend.
"Thanks, I will take good care of this. Anyway, where did you find this?" he asked.
'I met this guy who is a local merchant. He has a bunch of items he can sell as long as we have treasure or money on us to trade," Leon said.
"Getting extra gear and weapons on the field would be handy. Also, where is the other guy?" Makoto said.
"Oh Luis, he went off somewhere. Hunnigan is going to get a background check on him to see if he checks out," Leon said.
"Alright, things are getting more complex here," Ark said as Leon and Makoto open the gate allowing them to exit out of the Valley of Death to head back to the village to search for Ashley Graham.
