Phase 6: Death Traps
The trio goes down a worn dirt path to head back to the village to see a large warehouse blocking their path. "Well, we need to get through there to get back on track," Leon said as Hunnigan contacts them again.
"Hello Leon, I got the intel on Luis Serra. I knew his name was familiar. His name was found in some records in Umbrella Europe," Hunnigan said.
"You got to be kidding me," Leon said.
"Nope, I am not. Surprisingly, he dodged the Raccoon Trials. He was part of the team who helped create the Tyrant Nemesis and the parasite used to control it," Hunnigan said as Ark is surprised by this.
"Seriously, this guy helped create Nemesis ad that weird parasite," Ark said.
"Yes. They made other bioweapons as well which were used during Raccoon City like a test run of sorts," Hunnigan said.
"Gee, everything seems to come back to those guys," Makoto said.
"Well yes, after Raccoon City. All the researchers went into different directions which got their research in the hands of bad hands like Javier in the jungles of the Amazon rainforest," Hunnigan said.
"Yeah," Leon said in a low tone.
"We should be wary of him but tread lightly. He can still help us with this," Ark said as he used to work with Umbrella as a paramilitary soldier.
"Yeah, we should not judge yet," Makoto said.
"Indeed, we can get him to help us with a deal or something. These parasites Las Plagas is a big deal to convert most of the people within this remote region into puppets of the cult," Hunnigan said.
"Yeah, we need some questions for this guy," Leon said.
"Yeah. I hope this was helpful," Hunnigan said.
"Yeah it was, thank Hunnigan," Leon said as Hunnigan smiled to feel happy she can be thankful.
"No problem. Keep in mind your mission to save the president's daughter," Hunnigan said.
"Right," Leon said.
"Another researcher to deal with," Ark said as he has bad memories of a certain researcher he had fallen for years ago.
"Oh, you mean Mimi?" Makoto said.
"Yeah, the mission back in 1997 with my UBCS squad went via V-22 VTOL to go rescue the head scientist of an Umbrella lab based within a mountain called the Hornet's Nest. It was a total disaster," Ark thought as he recalls the event to the group in clear detail.
-Flashback Begins-
Within the year 1997, a lone V-22 VTOL is flying through the night as it holds a 12-man UBCS squad with 22-year-old Ark in his seat feeling bored from the long flight. "Are we there yet sir?" he asked Tom the squad leader.
"Not yet, Ark," Tom said.
"Sorry sir, combat jittery," Ark said as Tom pats him on the shoulder.
"Relax, we will get out of here alive," Tom said as Ark turns his attention to a cute raven-haired girl beside him.
"Don't worry Ark, I'll be here to patch you up," the young woman said.
"Well Emily, I will be looking forward to it," Ark flirted with her as she giggled as she finds his alluring voice to be quite sexy.
"Watch it, tiger. We will have a date when this mission is over," she said kissing him on the cheek.
"Gee, get a room you two," a woman said with dark hair in a ponytail.
"Always the joy killer Rain," Ark said as she gives him a nasty glare.
"Rain is always so tense," Emily said.
"Yeah always having a stick up her pussy," Ark said.
"Bite me, Ark," Rain said as Tom shut them up.
"Okay ladies, pipe down. Anyway, our objective is to rescue a female researcher named Dr. Asumi from the depths of the Hornet's Nest. Zombies and other B.O.W.s are crawling in there, so we need to grab her and get out of there," Tom said.
"Yes sir," they said as Ark cocks his LR-300 assault rifle while putting it away to check his personal M29 revolver.
"Don't get left behind Ark," Rain said loading up her PSG-1 sniper rifle and slipping her Glock-21 pistol into her holster.
"Let's do our best," Emily said loading up her R870 shotgun to sling it on her back to draw out her M93R machine pistol.
Tom gets his AUG Para SMG to ready it up with a Desert Eagle in his hoister with the others wielding LR-300s, AUGs, and R870s.
They approach the mountains to go to the very top of the peak to hover above for them to rappel down the rope to be on a metal platform which is the lift that goes into the Hornet's Nest. A grunt goes up to the lift controls to let them go down into the labs.
"I will wait for you via air bound. When you collect the target, I will come around to pick you up," the pilot said on the radio.
"Okay, we will make this quick," Tom said as they descended into the labs to reach the below to be deep within the mountain and be inside a spacious room. "Okay folks let's get to work," he said as the 12-trooper squad held their weapons to go out the door to see the alarms ringing through the tight hallways with the blurring reds clashing with the shadows of the dimly lit hallways.
"Can't see a damn thing," Rain said as they turn on the weapon tactical lights to shine through the darkness with red flashing on the walls and ceilings.
"What dumbass released all the B.O.W.s in the labs," Ark wondered.
"Who knows, our job is to find the target and get out of here," Tom said as they hear something above making Emily freak out.
"What the fuck is that?" she asked sounding too frightened.
"Could be a Licker or something worse," Tom said as Emily swallows her spit while holding her pistol.
"Nervous?" Ark asked.
"Yeah, this is so nerve wreaking with that sound," Emily said.
"Hey Emily, keep your training bra on and go back if your chicken shit," Rain taunted her weakness.
"No, I want to do this," Emily steeled herself for them to go down the tight hallways with their weapon lights as the only source of bright light.
Ark is holding his rifle feeling very tense with the noise getting worse with every step. They go into an open area to see tubes that held B.O.W.s are broken. Lots of blue liquid on the floor is leaking from the broken glass tubes.
"I wonder what kind of research this woman was doing?" Ark wondered as Emily looks around for her to feel uneasy.
"Shit," a grunt said as they turn around to see a long tongue grab the soldier's neck to pull him up onto the ceiling. A Licker is on the ceiling to pull up the soldier and bites off his throat to drop the dead soldier.
"Crap, kill the Licker," Tom ordered as Licker leaps at a female grunt to slice her head off with blood shooting out of her severed neck slot. The Licker is dodging the incoming gunfire with its impressive speed as Rain tosses a sonic grenade to stun the monster with its superior hearing being used against it to be groaning in pain.
Rain fires a shot from her semi-auto sniper rifle into the monster's head to put it down for good to see two of their 12 troop unit gone in a flash. She looks on to see Emily holding her pistol in terror as she was frozen in fear with Rain groaning at this.
"Useless," Rain berates her as Emily feels bothered by this.
"Cut it out, not everyone can deal with Lickers. You okay Emily?" Ark asked showing concern.
"Yes, I am fine, just shocked is all," she said as they resumed their search the researcher was in a warehouse area to hear moaning to see a bunch of zombies appearing going towards them.
"Shit," the soldiers open fire as more zombies begin to pour into the room beginning to swarm them.
"Move, move now," Tom said as they run away as a grunt trips over a fallen pipe and then gets eaten by a few zombies.
"No, he is going to get eaten," Emily said shooting at the zombies but Rain drags her away.
"Dumbass. He is dead meat anyway," Rain said as she fires a wave of rounds to tear through the heads of the monstrous horde.
"Retreat in the room, now," Tom ordered as they fired at the incoming zombies to close the door and block it out preventing the monsters from coming in.
"Great," Ark said dryly.
"Well, we have to keep moving. We still got a researcher to find," Tom said as they go through the hallways to hear the constant moans of zombies all over the research labs.
"This place went completely FUBAR," Rain said.
"No shit Captain Obvious," Ark said as he reloads his LR-300 for them to continue forward to see a lift on the other side.
"Time to head down," Tom said as they noticed a Hunter in the hallway. "Shit come on. Into the lift," Tom said as they run away as the monster is leaping at them to slice up the others leaving Tom, Emily, Rain, and Ark left to go to the left to go further down into the lab.
"Well, that sucks," Rain said.
"We are the only ones left," Ark said as he sees Emily is not taking this well at all.
"Everyone is dead and I can't do anything about it," Emily said as her mind slipped away as the combat is wearing her down.
"Looks like training bra is about to break," Rain said as Ark is worried about Emil putting a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Hey, you okay?" Ark asked as Emily twitches away from his touch.
"Oh, sorry Ark, I am on edge. Let's get this over with as quickly as possible," Emily said pulling out her pistol as they go in to see a bunch of monitors on the walls.
"So, you manage to get into the labs. The Hornet's Nest has gone straight to hell," a woman said on the speakers.
"Doctor Asumi, I figure," Tom said.
"Yes, I am inside a saferoom but outside is crawling with zombies. Better take care of that before rescuing me," Asumi said to cut off the line.
"We are getting closer," Ark said as more zombies crowd the halls. Emily is shooting her pistol to score headshots for she is losing her mind.
"So many dead people," she said in a low monotone voice as a zombie pops out of a box making Emily drop onto the floor. "No, I don't want to die," she pulls out her shotgun to blast the zombie's leg making it fall onto her to bite into her neck.
"Emily," Ark said as the zombies pile onto her to devour her. "Well, this sucks," Ark said as he tosses a frag grenade to blast apart groups of enemies leaving Emily behind.
"Well Ark, there goes your fuck buddy," Rain taunted him.
"Piss off Rain," Ark said as they are the only three left to rescue the researcher.
"Calm down, you two. We got a job to do," Tom said as they go into an open area to see a bunch of tubes to hold Hunters within the glass containers.
"These things look lethal," Rain said.
"These must be newer models," Tom said as they are cautious not to disturb them but one of them is trying to bust out of the tube to successfully escape.
"Oh shit," Ark holds up his LR-300 rifle to fire at the incoming Hunter as it evades his line of fire to get up to the higher level trying to go around for a sneak attack.
"Where did it go?" Rain wondered aiming her PSG-1 sniper rifle to get a perfect shot. The Hunter leaps in to slash at Rain to sever her arm clean off with blood spread across the floor dropping her rifle. "Oh fuck," she shouted in pain.
Tom fires his AUG SMG to put down the monster in a hail of bullets to check up on Rain to see if she is bleeding out fast and if she is infected with the T-Virus.
"Sir, it's too late. I'm infected," Rain said holding onto her severed arm as the virus is beginning to turn her.
"Shit," Tom said.
"Well Rain, we can't be pissing each other off anymore," Ark said.
"Yeah, I'll see you in hell too. Do it, sir. I don't want to be like them," Rain said as the squad leader pulls out his Desert Eagle aiming it at her head. "It's been an honor sir," she said.
"Likewise," Tom pulls the trigger and the large bullet destroys her head with brain matter and bone scattered across the floor. "Come on Ark, let's go find this woman. She better be worth it with most of my troops dead," Tom said as they go down the hallway to see the last lift that will take them to the researcher.
Ark presses the button as the lift is going slowly as they hear roars in the distance with a mob of zombies and Cerberuses coming at them.
"Great," Ark said as they fire their weapons to see a mass of corpses piling up on the floor and see their guns are empty with no ammo left. A dog leaps at Tom as Ark pulls out his M29 revolver to shoot the zombie dog in the head putting it down and saving Tom.
"Thanks, Ark," he said as the lift finally shows up for he shoves Ark into the lift.
"Sir, what are you doing?" he asked.
"Giving you a chance to complete the mission. I will hold them off," Tom said as Ark goes off into the lift. Tom fired his hand cannon to take a few zombies to see he has no ammo for it either. "I am not turning into one of these things," he grabs a grenade as he is getting rushed by dogs to bite into his body to drag him onto the floor as groups of zombies are ganging on him.
He pulls the grenade as a large blast destroys a big chunk of the horde. Ark felt the explosion and hold onto his M29 ready to go.
"Everyone is gone. Hope this bitch is worth it," Ark said feeling hopeless as he gets to the bottom level within a room to see a small group of zombies putting rounds into their heads and clearing out the room.
"Hello, is anyone there?" she asked as he hears a woman's voice outside the wall. He noticed she has a cute thick Korean accent.
"Yes, I am here," Ark said as she likes the tone of his voice.
"Oh, thank you. I'm opening the door," she said as the wall slides open to reveal herself. Ark is floored by this sexy Korean researcher. "Oh, here is my knight coming to save the princess," she said as she flares up her accent to full effect which makes Ark's heart flutter.
"Man, this girl is an 11 out of 10," he thought as he is smitten by the young 19-year-old scientist by her beauty especially her hazel eyes behind her blue-colored glasses and her long jet-black hair reaching above her rear. Her shapely pear figure and her pale skin complement her lab coat with her brown shirt and green skirt under it. "I am your knight, milady," Ark said playfully bowing his head.
"Of course, my knightly savior. My name is Mimi Asumi, the wonderfully brilliant researcher who runs this once great facility before it got bang up to hell by half-wits," Mimi said.
"Too bad. Let's get out of here," Ark said.
"Oh, of course," Mimi said taking her research notes and floppy disks into her bag.
"Is there an armory where I can gear up?" he asked.
"Oh yes, it's nearby," Mimi said as they go off with Ark holding up his handgun to protect Mimi from them going into the armory to see walls of weapons.
"Like I am in a candy shop," Ark said as he grabs some magnum rounds for his M29 and takes a PM-5 pump action shotgun. Mimi takes a P90 SMG off the rack along with some magazines into her bag.
"Alright let's go," she said as they go into the halls.
"I am a bit shocked," he said.
"Why because of my age?" she asked.
"Well yeah, didn't think a pretty young woman would be the leader of this place," he said.
"Well, I am honored. You think some old hag controlled this place?" she asked.
"I guess but good thing I was wrong. I was wondering what you are researching here?" Ark asked sounding curious.
"Trying to combine the T-virus with a new strain the G-Virus to make an ultimate strain that gives the maximum effect on human potential," Mimi said.
"How was that working out for you?" he asked.
"Not good, I still have a lot of work to do to unlock the strains' secrets," she said.
"I bet you can do it," Ark said as she offers him a pretty smile.
"Thank you, I will," Mimi said as Ark contacts the pilot getting ready to Evac.
"I got the target here. We need to get out of here," he said on the radio.
"What happened to Tom and the others?" he asked.
"They are all dead. I am the only one left," he said with a hint of sadness thinking about poor Emily and Tom getting eaten by zombies.
"Shit. Alright, I am on standby," the pilot said cutting off the radio to see a vent that goes to the upper area.
"Ladies first," he said.
"Nice try tiger," she said.
"I try," he said as he goes into the vent first with Mimi following behind him.
"I got the nice view instead," Mimi pokes her finger on his rear making him jump.
"Hey, watch the goods," he said as she giggled.
"That's what you get for trying to get a peek," she teased him. "Oh, it's so firm and it got a nice shape too," she thought licking her lips at the thought of getting a feel of it.
They got to the upper floors; Ark goes out first with Mimi coming out. "Shit," Ark said as several Hunters are coming at them for the duo to mow them down with ease. They are getting close to the lift that will take them back to the surface.
"Lickers," Mimi said as multiple Lickers are coming at them as they reach the lift. Mimi is pressing the button getting the lift upward to shoot down incoming mutants coming their way. A Licker grabs Mimi by her neck trying to pull her away.
"Mimi," he fires his PM-5 to destroy the tongue letting her go. "You okay?" he asked sounding worried.
"Yes, thanks for the save," she said as the lift gest into an enclosed space to be safe.
"So, you free after this Mimi?" he asked as this place left a bad mark on him but saving her was a bright spot in that chaos.
"So bold, my brave knight," she said kissing him to return it as they appear outside with the pilot feeling awkward looking at this.
"Hey, you two, save it for the hotel room," the pilot said as he hovers by the lift to open the hatch to go inside to fly off as the mission was a success.
-Flashback Ends-
Ark remembers this mission too well because so many lives were tossed away to aid in the evil plans of this corrupt company. "That woman Mimi had disappeared into the haze. Still bent on completing her virus which is bad news to everyone," Ark said.
"Yes, the T + G Virus which Bruce and Fong Ling fought against when taking on Morpheus who used a prototype version of this virus," Hunnigan said as she pulls up the files about Operation Sea Fair Bruce going on a mission to take out the bioterrorist Morpheus who was a former Umbrella Researcher who was framed by the company to be a scrap goat for the mansion outbreak.
"Yeah seems like she and Morpheus were working for someone. Don't know who it is through," Ark said.
"Well Ark, thankfully with your experience. You can help Leon and Makoto save the president's daughter," Hunnigan said.
"Yeah, I am putting all my training to good use," Ark said as they approach the warehouse to see a bunch of villagers guarding the front entrance.
"Seems like we got the jump them," Leon said as Ark and Makoto used precise shots to take out a few guards. Leon swiftly cut and slashed into the remaining guards. They go through the door to see more villagers rush at them with melee weapons.
Makoto uses her Tanto dagger to block a strike to deflect the weapon away and she kicks the woman into a bear trap to crush her skull within the trap. Ark tackles a villager onto the ground to put bullets into his face to kill him easily.
Leon tosses a kitchen knife to stab the knee of a villager with Leon kicking the knife to dig into the kneepad to pop it right off causing the Ganado to groan in pain. Leon shoves his knife into the neck of the Ganado to tear out his throat.
"Come on," Leon leads into the building to see the Ganados setting up defenses within the large building. He blasts a villager in half with his shotgun as he kicks down an infected villager. Ark punches a nearby villager to knock her onto the floor to put a few shots into her head.
They leap through a window to get behind the cover as the villagers toss dynamites to blow up sections of the room. Dust and debris moved by the blasts with Leon coming out of a cover to see a stick of dynamite in the hand of one of the Ganados setting off a big blast. This takes out a group of Ganados with ease turning them into piles of gore.
They swiftly move throughout the warehouse to be within a huge space filled with boxes and crates. "Gee, there is a lot of stuff here they are storing," Makoto said as she noted a crate filled with 9mm and .45 ACP ammo packed in ammo containers.
"They are gearing up for something but most of them don't even use guns," Ark said as Makoto can see an M93R machine pistol.
"Oh, a third-round burst pistol, this will come in handy," Makoto said as she slips it into her second pistol holster on her hip along with collecting 9mm ammo for it. More Ganados show up with some on the ground and others on top of crates tossing axes and explosives.
"Split up," Leon said as they spread out to take out the incoming enemies. Leon goes for his pistol to shoot the ones on the ground with Makoto uses her burst pistol to send out three rapid-fire shots at the Ganados on top of crates and boxes.
Ark uses his scoped M1A rifle to pop the heads of the higher-up Ganados as Leon is shooting his shotgun to split a nearby Ganado in half. Then they see several infected dogs called Colmillo circling the group.
"Great these things again," Leon said as a dog lunges at Leon. He kicks it to slam it into a crate as he fires his W870 shotgun to blow off its head.
Makoto is using her new burst weapon to pepper the incoming dogs to take some of them down with one of them tackling her. She gets sent onto the floor to drop her rifle and burst pistol. She rolls away from a lunge from the Colmillo to dig her dagger into the head of the infected beast.
"Hush Puppy," Makoto pulls out her revolver to blast its head to instantly kill it. She collects her weapons to put them back onto her person. She switches to her R700 sniper rifle to put a hole into the villager on top of a crate.
The trio managed to clear the way to collect the ammo left over to go into another room which leads down the stairs to be in a sewer look area for a few Ganados are blocking their path. Leon uses his Shotgun to blast them apart turning them into red piles of gore on the floor.
Ark looks over to the side to see a pool of water to see small bass swimming down there. "Some fishes down there," Ark said.
"Gee, I can go for some sushi right now," Leon said.
"I can ditto that," Makoto said as they see a ladder to climb up and head outside to be on the right track.
"Alright, we managed to get through that," Leon said as they noticed a path heading for a big house in the distance surrounded by a fence.
"Seems like we are getting close to the village," Makoto said as the trio head off to continue their mission to save Ashley.
