Phase 17: Burnt Big Cheese
Leon and others reached the outskirts to encounter more resistance to go down a dirt path to see lights in the distance. "Oh, what is that?" Ashley questioned.
"Oh shit, it's a truck. They are going to ram us," Leon said as Makoto draws out her SL8 Stingray to look through the scope. She manages to pop the head of the driver to make the truck lose control and fall onto its side.
"Nice shot," Ashley said as Makoto feels proud of it.
"Nothing to it. I am the team's Overwatch for a reason," Makoto said as they see more Ganados heading their way.
"Gee, more of these jokers. They don't know when to quit," Leon said as he uses his TMP to pepper the group with bullets with Ark and Makoto finishing them off. "Let's check the truck for supplies," Leon said as they go up to the truck to see if it has ammo, healing sprays, and grenades.
"Seriously where are they getting this stuff from," Ark said as they carry what they can to head off. He finds a special weapon called the HK69A1 grenade launcher. "Oh nice, this will come in handy," Ark slings it on his back along with frag, flashbang, and sticky grenade rounds.
They go to an area that has a big gate which seems to be the place they need to go. Several towers have snipers on top of them with Ganados and Colmillos patrolling the area.
"Oh boy, lots of bad guys here," Makoto said as she looks through the scope of her Stingray rifle. Makoto looks over to see a building that has a second floor which will be useful giving the guys overwatch. "Ashley, I need you to be my spotter again to aid in the boys taking out those towers," Makoto said as Ashley nods her head.
"Okay," Ashley goes up to kiss him on Ark's cheek. "For good luck," Ashley said as the two women went over to the building close by.
"Did that lift ride make you two all romantic-like?" Leon asked as the two were very close there.
"Just enjoying the view Leon," Ark said as he is wielding his HK69A1grenade launcher to load it up with a frag round.
"I bet you are. I can't blame you, makes me want to get close to Makoto. We are so close here. We can go on a double date when this is over," Leon said.
"You are on Leon," Ark said as they head into cover behind a set of crates. Makoto takes out the Ganados inside the building to set up some traps just in case they approach the building. They go up to the second floor which has a window covering looking at the area Leon and Ark will fight.
"Perfect," Makoto said as she sets up the bipod on the window with Ashley taking the binoculars to spot Makoto's targets for her to shoot. "Time to smash this party," Makoto said as Leon gives the signal on the radio with Ark using his new grenade launcher to destroy a sniper tower with the whole area being on high alert.
"The Americans are here, do not let them escape. Get the girl," one of the Ganados said as he gets sniped in the head via Makoto's marksman rifle to support the boys. Leon and Ark fired their weapons to blast away at the groups of enemies. Several infected wolves head for the men with Makoto firing her shots at the Colmillos to knock them down with headshots. A Colmillo lunges at Leon to kick it in the head to put shotgun shells into its back.
One of the infected canines has the Plagas burst out of its spine to unleash a mass of flesh and bone using his bony limb to try and slash at Leon and Ark. They both avoid and duck under the striking limb as Leon puts rows of bullets into the Colmillo with his TMP to put it down.
Makoto is knocking down villagers on top of the towers killing them off with headshots. Ark uses his HK69A1 to blast the towers into pieces.
"This is getting crazy," Leon said as he leads Ark into a building to get some breathing room to see more Ganados swarming their position. Makoto sees a few red barrels around the grounds. Makoto takes out one to set off an explosion taking a chuck of the group and thinning them out.
Ark uses his MP5 to cut down a few more enemies as he tosses a grenade to blast them apart. He takes off the head of a Ganado for the twisting head appears called Guadana. The bone sickle is twisting and slashing the air with them avoiding the long tentacle's reach.
"Gee," Leon pulls a buckshot into its head to make it explode in a burst of blood and gore on the floor. One of the Ganados is above to tossed a stick of dynamite with Leon shooting it out of his hand to trigger it to explode taking out a group of enemies.
Back with Makoto and Ashley, they hear people coming into the building to hear explosions going off with their traps taking them out and turning them into red mist."Good thing we put them up ahead of time," Ashley said as Makoto is taking out the rest of the Ganados on top of the towers.
"Indeed. Okay, I knock out all the guys on the towers. Ark needs to destroy them, so they can't be used anymore," Makoto noticed two Brutes and a Chainsaw Man heading for the building.
"Guys, we have big guys coming your way," Makoto putting rounds into one of the two brutes' heads. Ark uses a sticky grenade to lob it onto a brute to see him get blown into several pieces.
"These sticky grenades are quite strong," Ark lobs another one at the wounded brute to blow the monster man apart leaving the Chainsaw man left to chase after them up the stairs. He fires a frag grenade to knock him into a wall wounding him but not able to kill him yet.
"So annoying," Leon said as Makoto can see through the window to see the Chainsaw Man getting back onto his feet.
She puts a few rounds into the head of the Ganado to stun him and Leon tossing a flashbang to blind the Chainsaw Man. He rushes in and kicks him in the head to knock him back outside. Makoto puts several rounds into his head to finally put him down for good.
"Good riddance, you okay guys?" Makoto asked on the radio.
"Yep, close call," Leon said as Ark gets to the second floor to lob his grenades to destroy the rest of the towers clearing them out.
"Good work guys and Ashley. We got them all," Makoto said as the women come up to the guys to see all the Ganados in the area are all dead.
"This baby did come in handy," Ark said to see he has a few Flashbang rounds left for the HK69A1 launcher.
The four keep moving to see something interesting. A gate that has a weird face on it. "This seems like the way out of the village but we can't open it," Leon goes to contact Luis via radio. "Luis, we managed to get to a weird gate on the edge of the village," Leon said.
"Oh, you managed to get to the end but it's not over yet. That gate has a scanner and you need a key to unlock it. The big cheese's fake eye which would be the key you need to get out of that cursed village," Luis said.
"So, we need to take him out," Leon said.
"Yes, I think I heard reports about him being sighted by a warehouse nearby that location. He is going to be waiting for you here," Luis said.
"Thanks for the tip. Time to grill this big cheese," Leon said as they go towards the warehouse where Chief Mendez is located.
"Time to stop this dicking around. He has been dogging us since the beginning," Ark said as they find the warehouse where Mendez is hiding.
"This to end this," Makoto said as they go up the stairs to enter inside.
"Be careful guys," Ashley said as they go inside the second floor.
Suddenly a huge mass crashes through the window to knock Leon, Makoto, and Ark onto the floor below. Ashley is surprised and worried about them being on the second floor.
"Guys," Ashley said as Mendez is standing before them missing his hat.
"Ashley run," Ark said as they all get back onto their feet. Chief Mendez looks up to see Ashley walk over but Leon shoots him in the back not flinched by this.
"Your actions are an insult to our god. Submit to the parasite and embrace the light of Lord Saddler," Chief Mendez said.
"You are a crappy priest, you know that," Leon said as they fire their weapons to do nothing once again while Mendez goes over to grab his hat to place it on his head.
"God almighty, gain me the strength to wipe out your enemies," Mendez said.
"Oh great," Ark said as Mendez lunges at them to dodge his strike. Leon looks over to see a red barrel to knock it over and roll it towards Mendez.
"Hasta Luego," Leon aims and fires his Silver Ghost to cause the barrel to explode with flames burning sections of the warehouse. Mendez is consumed in flames to bring off his hat and robes. He begins to mutate with his hands becoming claws and his spine enlarging looking like a centipede.
"Thank you god for this gift," Mendez said as his voice is distorted to be in his mutated state.
"Well time to end this," Leon said as the three begin to engage in combat with Mendez in his mutant form.
Elsewhere Ashley is outside to see the warehouse is beginning to catch on fire. "Oh goodness, I need to find a way to get them out of there. The fire is getting out of control," Ashley said as she is looking for something.
The trio are avoiding the attacks of Mendez as he grabs onto Makoto about to shive his claws into her face. She drives her tanto dagger into his hand to make him drop her as Leon checks on her with Ark using the flashbang round from his HK69A1 to blind Mendez.
Leon finds another red barrel to roll towards Mendez and fire onto it causing an explosion to do some damage to the mutant priest.
"Gee, just die all over," Ark is peppering Mendez with bullets at his exposed spine which seems to be his weak point. Mendez screams to feel the bullets into his spine making him kneel on the floor. Ark shoves his bowie knife into Mendez's neck making him yell in pain.
Mendez knocks Ark away as Makoto is firing her magnum revolver to fire onto his spine stunning him in place. Leon loads up slugs into his Pentagun to fire rapid shots into the spine. Leon dodges an incoming lunge as he avoids his sharp claws.
The flames of the warehouse are growing even bigger closing off sections of the building. Ark uses a flashbang round to blind Mendez to drop a bunch of rounds into his spine.
Leon knocks a red barrel towards Mendez to fire his shotgun at it making a big blast to knock Mendez onto the floor. He draws out his combat knife to stab into the neck of the mutant priest making him back up.
"End of the road Mendez," Leon said as he fires another red barrel to strike Mendez with a fiery explosion to split his legs from his torso. He flops onto the ground as the legs walk for a bit until they collapse onto the floor.
"I will not let down Lord Saddler," Mendez gets back up to use his new set of pincer-like arms to climb onto the upper sections of the burning warehouse. "I will not let my Lord's vision die. Bringing the world true peace under the Plagas," Mendez said as he swoops down and tackles Ark sending him flying into a pillar to greatly hurt his back.
"Damn it, Ark," Makoto said as Mendez is quick to swing around the ceiling avoiding her gunfire.
"Sounding like a true cult leader," Leon said as he is firing his pistol to switch to his TMP to pepper him a few times. Mendez grabs beams of metal to toss them at the duo. Makoto and Leon roll out of the way to impale the walls.
"Burn in the holy flames," Mendez grabs two red barrels with Makoto firing them in rapid shots using the explosives to knock him back down onto the floor. Leon stabs into the back of his neck again weakening him further.
Ark sprays himself with healing spray to soothe his back to get himself into the fire to nail Mendez with his MP5. He fires his last flashbang round from his HK69A1 to blind him to send him dropping onto the floor with Makoto stabbing into his neck. His two pincer arms knock them away as he gets back into the ceiling to grab onto objects tossing them at the trio. Ark noticed he lose his grenade launcher in the fire unable to get it back.
They are avoiding his tosses with Makoto and Ark shooting their weapons to blast apart the red barrels Mendez was holding. The explosions rip apart his claws to crash onto the ground as Leon delivers the final bow with his knife in the back to finally kill him.
"Lord Saddler," Mendez said as he dies on the floor with the building burning around them. His fake eye drops from his skull and Leon goes to grab the fake eye.
"May you rest in pieces big cheese," Leon said as they see the building covered in flames with the exits blocked.
"Gee, now what?" Ark wondered.
Ashley comes in with a chair to break open a window with flames bursting out. "Guys, the place is burning down. Get out of there now," Ashley said worried about them.
"That is our exit," Leon said as the trio leap out of the window to be saved by Ashley. They pat down the embers off their clothes with Ashley offering Ark a hand.
"You are welcome," she said with a smile.
"Thanks," Ark said as she helps him up.
"You are a lifesaver, Ashley," Leon said as Ashley nods her head.
"Just doing my best. Did you get what you are looking for?" she asked as Leon shows off the fake eye.
"Yep, this is our ticket out of this village," Leon said as They go back to the gate leaving the burning warehouse behind them.
"Gee, that was scary. Thankfully you guys made it," Ashley said.
"We managed to take out the big guy but he was pretty tough," Makoto said as they approach the gate. Leon pulls out the fake eye for the scanner to pick it up and unlock the gate.
"Gee, I am hungry," Ashley said as her stomach is growling making her face glow red from embarrassment.
"Yeah, I think a quick snack break is in order. Because we are getting close to the extraction point," Makoto said.
'Yeah, we got some rations from that truck. We need a place to rest for a bit before heading out," Leon said as they go through the gate leaving the village behind and heading for the extraction point.
A/N: This is the end of the Village Arc of this story and now we are going into a short mini arc involving the events of Operation Jaiver.
