Chapter 46: Baby Blues

Once we were back at the village, I felt that things were back to normal except Hayner became worried about me. He even felt the mission was a failure because I was kidnapped under his watch, but Tsunade told him he was being too hard on himself. Throwing himself into training again he vowed to never let the ones he cared for come to harm again knowing I couldn't change how he felt.

For now though I was currently on my way to train with Kakashi and since I knew he was always late I didn't mind going a bit slower. Coming to the training field I was surprised to see him already there reading his perverted book, but he stopped seeing me.

"You're late." he said as I shrugged replying, "You're early."

He pushed off the tree he had been leaning on saying, "Do you want to talk about what happened?"

"I'd rather just train..." I said looking away from him feeling him put his hand on my head looking up to see him smile under his mask saying, "Alright."

"You're getting much better at controlling your lightning and blood together." Kakashi said panting as I too was panting seeing him pull his headband back down covering his Sharingan.

"We should take a break." he said sitting down on the ground while I stayed standing saying, "Can't we practice some more?"

"We've both used up a lot of Chakra don't you think it's smart to rest?" he questioned as I sighed sitting beside him saying, "Yes… you're right."

"Have you been working on that blood technique you told me about?" he asked as I leaned against the tree saying, "Not so much, I've been putting a lot of effort into offense since my blood shield seems to be a good defense."

"It certainly got the job done against the Akatsuki member and saved us though it took a lot out of you." he said in a serious tone while I nodded replying, "I know, but you always told me if a life is on the line give it your all because there may not be a next time."

He rubbed the back of his head saying, "Well yes but you don't want to kill yourself in the process, do you?"

"Which is why I enjoy training and learning new jutsu from you, there are less lethal ways to take an opponent down." I said remembering the last mission frowning.

"You did the right thing." he said making me look up saying, "What?"

"I heard what you did to that boy and that was a life-or-death situation you didn't have a choice." he said making me shrug saying, "I did have a choice, I could have just knocked him out but… the things he was saying… his filthy hands touching me… he deserved to die I know that."

Feeling Kakashi put a hesitant hand on my shoulder I heard him say, "Good, living with regret isn't a way to live… trust me I know."

"What do you mean?" I asked as he leaned back closing his eye saying, "It's a long story."

"Well, if you ever want to talk you can always talk to me Kakashi-sensei." I said hearing him laugh replying, "I'll tell you the story eventually but for now let's do more training."

Yawning I began walking back to my apartment after a long day of training seeing Shino was in front of my door making me tilt my head saying, "Shino, is everything alright?"

"Lady Tsunade wanted me to grab you and Kiba for a mission." he said yawning again walking lazily towards him replying, "This better be good..."

Making it to the tower with Kiba, Akamaru and Shino it looked like Kiba was just as exhausted as I was saying sleepily to Tsunade, "Lady Tsunade it's the middle of the night and I've been training all day, surely this mission isn't so important."

Seeing her smirk she replied, "A mission is a mission Yuna you know that."

"Yea but sleep is sleep too..." I mumbled while Kiba replied, "I'm on Yuna's side for this."

"Well then you'll have to write back to Riku and Meeka Hideiki why you weren't there for the bir-" Tsunade began as I jumped through the open window yelling, "Why didn't you say so let's go!"

"Women..." I heard Kiba mumble as I landed on the ground quickly running home to grab some supplies for the trip.

Not feeling tired anymore, I ran towards the gates seeing the others already waiting while I bounced around saying, "Are we ready?"

"You didn't stay for the rest of the debriefing." Shino said sternly while I waved my hand saying, "Whatever it is I'm ready for it if it's for Meeka."

"Well then I hope you are ready to help her deliver the baby because her husband is missing." Shino said beginning to walk away as I went to speak but nothing came out, what had I gotten myself into.

We easily reached the village by first light smiling at the familiar home in the distance seeing everyone was all over the place.

I could see Meeka's mother and father looking towards us smiling as her mother said, "Oh Miss Yuna it's lovely to see you again, you've become quite a beautiful young lady."

She turned to Kiba saying, "And Kiba you're looking quite handsome too, your puppy has gotten big."

Kiba rubbed the back of his head thanking her as she turned to Shino giving him a questioning look saying, "I don't remember you."

"This is our friend Shino Aburame." I said patting his back seeing her nod replying, "Well I'm glad you guys are here, we've been trying to find Riku but have had little luck and Meeka should be giving birth very soon."

"Where is she now?" I asked as she told us where to go leading the way down a hallway past some maids reaching a room at the end.

I knocked hearing a soft voice tell me to come in opening the door to see the still very beautiful but also very pregnant Meeka.

"Oh my goodness Yuna I'm so happy you came." she said seeing tears of joy in her eyes as I ran up towards her hugging her gently.

"I'm so sorry we are coming under these circumstances." I said as she nodded watching Akamaru walk over to her sniffing her belly as she giggled saying, "I remember you but my have you grown… and so have you Kiba."

"Thank you, Mrs. Hideiki." he said as she turned to Shino seeing her smile with a gleam in her eyes saying, "Hello I don't think we've met."

"I'm Shino Aburame." he said simply seeing her give me a sideways glace replying, "Oh you're the boy Yuna told me about, it's so very nice to finally meet you."

I saw Shino zero in on me as I waved my hand saying, "Anyway what happened with Riku?"

"Oh, it was terrible I woke up yesterday morning and he was gone, no note or anything." she said seeing tears of sadness in her eyes holding her belly.

"I'm one of the best trackers in the village, we'll for sure find him." Kiba said with a charming smile seeing her groan wincing as she said, "I hope soon, this baby is ready to come out, but I need my husband here."

"We will begin searching, Yuna you stay with her." Shino said making me nod as Kiba asked for a piece of his clothing letting Akamaru smell it beginning to bark.

"We've got a scent!" Kiba said as the three of them ran off leaving me alone with Meeka as she turned towards me suddenly beaming, "I take it you and that boy are friends now?"

"Yea, I got over my fear of his bugs and we've been friends since." I said rubbing the back of my head as she clapped her hands replying, "Well he is quite handsome, and I can tell he is fond of you."

"Eh?" I said confused as she giggled replying, "He was looking at you the whole time and don't think I didn't notice that pretty necklace you're wearing… looks like a bug to me."

"He's just overprotective sometimes nothing more." I said feeling a light tint of pink to my cheeks as she sighed saying, "Whatever you say my dear, maybe one day you'll be the one having a baby."

"No offense but I don't really like babies so probably not going to happen." I said making a face, having children was the farthest thing from my mind.
