Owl House: Devil's Cry
Chapter 3
I'm a Teenage Abomination!
It was the start of the morning and Dayton was up bright and early. He was pouring some orange juice while in the background Lady was making breakfast while Dante was reading the newspaper with his feet on the table.
Lady: Dayton you better hurry up and eat. School's about to start soon.
Dayton quickly drinks from his cup when Lady puts his breakfast on the table.
Dayton: I know. I know. Eating as quickly as I can.
Flying into the room was the best thing, Laxon. It flew onto Dayton giving a cute yawn. The hybrid had grown attached to the little bat and since the real one was a fake he decided to bring it into reality.
Dayton scratched it on its head, hearing small cooes coming from it. Dante looks up from his paper seeing his son playing with his pet.
Dante: Still can't believe you got your first devil . Remember when I got my first. Good old Cerberus. Won't ever forget that day when old Temen-ni-gru gave them to me. Too bad I gave them away to Enzo. They were pretty powerful and fun.
Dayton: Don't think I'm ever giving these up. I like keeping this little guy by my side.
Laxon squeals as he flies off of Dayton and lands onto the counter. Lady gave a small pet to the creature's head.
Dante then puts down his paper and gets up from his seat. He stretched his back, giving a soft groan.
Dante: Welp, I got bounties to slaughter and demons to hunt. I see you after school.
He rubs Dayton hair making it into a frenzy mess which it already was. He walked towards Lady giving her a kiss and hug.
Dante: And I'll see you on the field.
Lady: Don't wait too long.
Dante left through the door as Dayton finished up his food. He got his school bag and went to leave. He only stopped when Lady called out to him.
Lady: Dayton! Aren't you forgetting something?
Dayton checked his bag and saw he had forgotten something. His Mom tossed it over being a purple crystal ball. He caught it in his bag and put it on his back.
Dayton: Thanks, love you.
Before he could leave, he was grabbed by the collar and was kissed on the cheek by Lady. She rubbed his head like his father had done. Laxon flys over and snuggled into his cheek.
Lady: Now get onto school, don't want to be late. Bump already on our butts about that
Dayton rolls his eyes and wishes his Mom a good day demon hunting and gives Laxon a pet. He walked out of the house and onto a dirt path.
He and his family lived on the outskirts of the Boiling Iles like Eda. Dante thought it would be a good idea since they could keep demons out of the isles. Also helped with their business.
Dayton was walking down the trail, his hand in his pockets. He kinda wanted to meet up with the others before he went onto school, but reminded himself that Eda wanted help with savaging a trash slug yesterday and he wanted no part of getting dragged into that.
Dayton: Already have to deal with having to wash my clothes everyday. That just going to be a lot harder.
He walked through the woods, the trees wrestled in the breeze as Dayton walked passed. He whistled to himself when he then heard a voice through the trees. Sounding like they were trying to
?: Come on! You can do it!
The voice sounded familiar, Meding to his curiosity. The voice guides him to bunches of bushes where the voice keeps on getting louder and clearer making him realize who it was.
He parted the leaves from the bushes to see the owner of the voice being a teenage witch with black hair and glasses. Also rocking the same uniform as him with pink sleeves and pants instead of purple. Dayton knew this girl very well, being that of Willow Park. One of his best friends.
Dayton: Willow? What is she doing here?
He decided to keep himself hidden to get a closer view on what she was doing. She got up from the rock she was sitting on and kept pep talking to herself.
Willow: You can do it! Even if you get a bad grade, it's not a reflection of you as a witch.
She started pacing around the ground trying to give herself a boost of encouragement to get to school.
Willow: And my parents are right, there are better opportunities on this track. Now get to school!
While in her rant, she accidentally stepped onto a lone flower. She gasped as she bent down to the now destroyed flower.
Willow: Oh no! Oh little friend!
Dayton shook his head, chuckling. He always knew Willow as the great plant lover she is, but also a very clumsy girl who makes mistakes.
He keeps on watching the girl as she puts her hand over the damaged flower. She drew an incantation over it and small green orbs floated down on it. The flower then regenerated back to its beautiful, luxurious self in only a second.
Willow gave a sigh of relief caressing the flower petals.
Willow: There you go, all better.
Still in the bushes, Dayton got up on his feet and decided that he should go up to her.
Dayton: Hey, Willow–
He was immediately interrupted by someone coming out of the forest. His eyes widened in a panic and jumped back into the bush he was already hiding in. He peeked over the bush to make sure who exactly it was.
His eyes didn't lie to him. It was a girl who rolled up to Willow who still kneeled at the flower. She was riding on a cauldron being pulled on a cart that Willow also had which was being pushed by her own magic.
She had the same uniform as Willow with the same pink. She had green hair pulled up in a ponytail to keep out of her face with yellow piercing eyes looking onto a book that she didn't even notice Willow. This was Amity Blight.
She took her eyes off her book and looked down at Willow, gaining a smile while closing her book.
Amity: Willow!
She climbed off her cauldron and stood at the foot of Willow.
Amity: You're so unnoticeable I almost rolled into ya.
The air turned tense when the flower which Willow healed immediately wilted.
Willow: Hi, Amity.
There was disdain in her voice when she said that. Dayton absolutely noticed that as the girl stood back up on her feet meeting eyes to Amity.
Amity: Uh, shouldn't you get to class early to prep your...
Rattling from Willow cauldron cut her off. It got so intense that it fell over spilling purple goo on the ground. An eyeball rolled at Willow's feet, giving a blink that this was some kind of abomination.
Amity: Oh, Willow. You don't have anything to show, do you?
Dayton growled, looking on at this confrontation. He wanted to jump out and help out his friend, but he just couldn't. His mind wanted one thing while his body wanted to do another.
He continued to watch as Willow put up her hood out of embarrassment, Amity continued to talk.
Amity: This is why they call you "Half-a-Witch Willow".
More rattling came, this time coming from Amity's cauldron.
Amity: Oh, looks like someone wants to say something to you.
She goes up to her cart taking off the lid and turns towards Willow.
Amity: Abomination, rise.
Solidifying out of the coudron was Amity's abomination that looked a lot better than Willow's puddle abominationIt bends out of the pot to poke Willow's forehead, leaving behind mud in a star-shape.
Abomination: Your…a…star.
Amity: Aw. It's like mine.
She showed off her star by adjusting her "top student" pendant on her cowl.
Amity: But much smaller and meaningless. As a top student, it's my duty to tell you to keep at it.
She wraps an arm around Willow which didn't give her any comfort.
Amity: Even you could get a passing grade someday. Abomination, cower.
The abomination groans as it cowards back into its pot. Amity replaces the lit before grabbing ahold of the cart.
Amity: See you in class superstar.
She walks off with her cart leaving for Willow alone in the forest. Passing by Dayton he quickly ducked deeper into the bush, trying to stay hidden. Poking his head out he saw that she was finally gone. He took a sigh of relief and turned back to Willow who angrily rubs the goop off her face.
Willow: "Oh, see you in class, superstar!" I hate when she does that.
The wind started to pick up around her, leaves flowing through the current as she got angrier with every word.
Willow: I hate making abominations, I hate making bad grades! I can't stand this anymore!
She cried out in anger, her eyes glowing green. Dayton knew was coming next as he started to back up.
Dayton: Not again…
?: Again?
He did have time to recognize the voice when vines sprawled out of the bush and latches onto his ankle. It pulled him out of the bush, tossing in the air. He landed on the ground with a groan when another one knocked the air out of him.
Dayton: My lungs…
He looked up to see that Willow glared down at him. He gave a nervous laugh, trying to deescalate the situation.
At the shore of the beach, Eda is trying up a sack from a trash slug that was seen stranded on the beach.
Eda: Not a bad haul. That oviduct was loaded.
King: Ah. Lose apprentice, gain garbage eggs. Fair trade.
Eda scoffed at King's insult.
Eda: I didn't lose anything.
King: Dayton taught her more than you and If you don't teach Luz right, you will. And that's when I come in, make her my apprentice.
Eda: Ha! And what would you teach? How to get stuck in the arm of a sweater?
King: Hey, that only happened once! I'd teach her about demons. How to identify them, talk to 'em, raise an army with them and tear apart the world!
Eda: After they tear you out of the sweater arm, right?
King: You think you're so smart! Well, why don't we make a little bet where I can prove that I'd make a better teacher.
Eda: Okay. I'm obligated to remind you that I only use our bets to utterly humiliate you. And…
She pulls out a book out of her hair called "Eda King One Sided Wagers". She opens it to the winnings and losing of Eda and King. In which Eda won each and every time.
Eda: that you've never won.
King: I like those odds.
Eda: So how's this?
She grabs a slug egg out of her sack.
Eda: Teach this trash slug to be your loyal soldier in one day. Prove that you can be a better teacher than me, and Luz is all yours. But if you don't, I will change your name from King to... Mr. Wiggles.
King: Well, when you lose, you'll have to... wear a shame hat and sleep in a shack and never come into the Owl House again! Ha!
Eda: Deal.
King stamps his paw to a page agreeing to the challenge. Eda tosses the egg at King's head, breaking it and leaving a baby trash slug between his horns. It slips down his skull, but King catches it as It coos at him.
Eda walked away from him laughing knowing that she was going to win very easily.
Back into the wood, Willow stood over Luz and Dayton as the ladder of who gave a small wave.
Dayton: Hey, Willow… how's my favorite plant lover?
This seems to snap her out of her anger, her vines sinking back to the ground and eyes going back to normal.
Willow: Dayton? Oh no!
The person on top of him moved off of him and he was finally able to sit up. Willow quickly removed the vines from their ankles. Dayton finally got a good look to see that it was Luz who had vines wrapped around her ankles like him.
Dayton: Luz? Are you ok?
Luz looked up towards Dayton ang gave a shy wave.
Luz: Hey, Dayton. Yeah, the thorns only went through a few layers of skin.
Willow gave Dayton a questionable look on how the two know each other.
Dayton: Willow, this is Luz Noceda. You know the girl I talked to you about.
This knocked a memory inside of her when Dayton came to school after when he first met Luz. He told all about how he and her took down the warden of the prison and freed the oppressed.
She stared back at Luz, getting a good look at her.
Willow: So you're Luz.
Luz: Yup, that's my name!
Willow looked onto her ears seeing that they were more circular than regular witch ears.
Willow: So… circily.
Luz beeped and tried to cover her ears, but it was too late. Willow already got a good look on what she is. Her eyes became stars as she started excitedly asking questions.
Willow: Your human! This is astounding! A human on the boiling isles! How'd you get here? What are you doing here?
Willow was quickly pulled back by Dayton seeing as Luz looked uncomfortable.
Dayton: Ok, Willow. Let the girl breathe for a minute.
The plant lover then flinched when the bell for school started to ring. She sighed, her smile dropping down with her posture.
Willow: I'm sorry, I can't stay. I have to disappoint my teacher. It was nice to meet you, human.
She walked towards her cart when Luz quickly called out to her.
Luz: Wait! What you did with those flowers and plants were just… wow.
Willow: Thanks, but I'm not even supposed to be even doing plant magic. My parents put me on the abomination track in school.
This got Luz excited, grabbing ahold of Willow's shoulders and squealed like a little kid on Christmas day. She got in Willow's face, cheeks screaming with joy.
Luz: Like… magic school?
Willow nervously shook her head only making Luz even more excited.
Luz: That's so cool! I have a teacher, but her lessons are… untraditional. I bet she wouldn't let me enroll.
Dayton pokes at the puddle of the abomination that was still laying on the ground. He gave a soft shrug seeing how Luz didn't have any faith in her teacher.
Dayton: She may not be traditional, but she can teach you some stuff. Not much, but some stuff.
Luz: Wait, Dayton. You go to the same school she goes to, right?
He points to his uniform which looked the same as Willow's.
Dayton: Yeah, ever since we're kids. We both enrolled in different tracks. Abomination and Oracle.
This made Luz sigh, always wanting to go to a magic school of her own.
Luz: Oh how I wish I could spend one day there.
Willow: I wish I could get a passing grade for once. Then people would stop calling me "Half-a-Witch Willow."
She kicked her abomination making it groan as its eyes flowed down its body. Luz looked down at the abomination and an idea hit her.
Luz: Hey! I know how we both can get what we want.
She bent down to the abomination and scooped up the goop into her hands. She slapped the goop all over herself.
Luz: Make me your abomination. I'll get you a good grade, and you can get me into magic school. It's fiendishly clever.
Willow: What?
Luz: Me and Dayton saw that girl's thing. It's just chunks of stuff that talks weird. I'm chunks of stuff, and I talk weird!
Willow thought of what she said before she realized something.
Willow: Wait, Dayton saw me?
Dayton cringed seeing Willow make eye contact with him. He rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment since he could've helped his friend, but his body just wouldn't let him.
Dayton: Sorry about that. It's just…
Willow: Amity.
Dayton lowered his head as Willow sighs. Luz looks between each of them, feeling a little out of tune on what's going on.
Willow: I'll forgive you, but you owe me some herbal tea.
Dayton smiled before giving her a handshake.
Dayton: Deal!
Willow then turned back to Luz and gave her an approving smile.
Willow: Dayton seems to trust so I think that would be a deal, Luz.
They gave each other a handshake, but didn't realize the abomination was still on Luzs hand.
Luz: This is a great plan!
They tried to release each other, but the goop stuck their hands together. They tried pulling away, digging their feet into the ground only to get even more stuck.
Dayton came between them, summoning his sword into his hand.
Dayton: Ok, girls I'm gonna need you two to stay absolutely still.
He raised the sword in the air making the girls scream in panic and start running away. Dayton quickly chased after them to get them unstuck.
Dayton: Hey, we got school! Do you want to get unstuck or not?
There was more screaming and running as the boy chased after the two stuck girls.
Now walking down the path towards the entrance of Hexside Magic School. Students were walking towards the entrance of the school. The two students were walking side by side, Willow pushing her pot with a now slime covered Luz inside.
Willow: Welcome to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics.
Dayton: The demonic part of this school can be weird at times. They're sometimes some rogue demons that I have to slay. Parents made some complaints. Easy money for me.
Luz seems to be the giddy girl of all time. She looked around, seeing all the different students walking to school. She let out a soft excited giggle as they walked into the school.
Willow sat the cart in front of her locker. She scratched her locker, a mouth opened up and spit out her books.
Dayton, who had his locker right beside her, was trying to get it open. He scratched furiously on the skin of it, but it wouldn't wake up.
Dayton: If this thing doesn't open up now I'm gonna ledge it open!
He stuffed his sword in its mouth and ledged the mouth open, grabbing the books inside. The mouth snapped closer, the locker monster letting out a groan.
Dayton: Should've woken up when I told you too.
Coming from behind them was a younger brown-skinned witch boy who was reading a human teen magazine. He wore the colors of the illusion track, blue sleeves and pants. This was Augustus Porter, a human enthusiast.
He bumped into the back of Willow, not keeping his eyes off the magazine.
Augustus: Willow, Dayton, you will not believe humans.
Dayton: Oh, I believe Augustus. Humans are wild.
Willow put a hand over his mouth to keep him from speaking.
Willow: Willow: Humans? Psh. I haven't seen any. What?
It was now Dayton's turn to put a hand over her mouth to shut her up.
Gus showed them a picture of a girl with braces on her teeth.
Augustus: Did you know that humans nail barbed wire to their kids' teeth? But why? Maybe to make them magnetic.
Dayton looked down at the picture, poking at his teeth seeing that he used to have braces when he was younger.
Dayton: Man sometimes I miss those things while also hating them at the same time.
Luz: And they're good for storing treats.
Augustus looks up, thinking he actually heard a voice from the pot. Abominations don't usually don't talk like that. Willow sighed knowing that the abomination was already out of the pot.
Willow: Ok, Augustus. I'm gonna tell you something, but you have to be cool.
Augustus: I can be cool spool– I mean cool!
Dayton: This is about to blow your mind.
Willow: Abomination, rise.
Luz sprawled out of the pot, goop covering her body to make her look like a proper abomination.
Luz: Ta-da! I'm an abomination.
Willow: Luz that's not how an abomination acts.
Augustus looked at Luz, astonished at what he was seeing that he dropped his magazine on the floor.
Augustus: No, no. I couldn't be.
Willow: He's the president of the Human Appreciation Society. Most witches wouldn't be able to recognize a human right away. But Augustus is an expert.
Dayton: And I'm the vice president. He wanted a human expert to be his right hand man and sure did find the best half human for the job.
Augustus: Where are your gills?
Dayton: I told him many times. Humans do not have gills.
Luz: I knew an Augustus back in the human world. We called him Gus.
Augustus felt ecstatic! Having a human nickname by an actual, full blown, all blood human?
Augustus (Gus): Gus? Nickname? Human nickname? Gus? Call me it. Wow. Gus. This is the best day of my life.
They were all interrupted by the demon bell ringing and screaming at the same time.
Gus: I gotta get to spelling class. See you guys at lunch!
He walked away, leaving the trio alone in the hall. Next up was Dayton's time to leave as he tossed his bag over his shoulder.
Dayton: Welp I see you guys after Oracle class. Catch ya later.
Luz: Later, Dayton!
Willow: Have a nice day. See you at lunch.
He waved them goodbye and started walking through the halls to class. He was whistling a small toon when he turned a short corner. He didn't expect to bump into someone and they both fell onto the ground.
He helped his head in pain, a groan escaping.
?: Watch where you're going, next time!
Dayton: Sorry about that. Must've–
Realizing something. He knew the voice sounded plenty familiar to him. He nervously looked up to see the person he bumped into. They looked up also, they're eyes meeting each other.
Amity yellow eyes stared at Dayton's purple. They both gasped, Dayton backing an inch.
Amity: Dayton?
He quickly got back up and grabbed his bag. She called out to him, but he just kept on running until he turned a corner when he finally decided to rest. He looked behind him seeing that she decided not to chase after him.
He sighed out of relief when a door opened behind him.
?: Mr. Alighieri. Glad for you to finally meet with us.
He looked behind to see his teacher on the oracle track. He looked between a regular witch and a minotaur. He towered over Dayton, looking quite fierce. This was Professor Siblyn, teacher of the oracle track.
Dayton gave a nervous grin making Siblyn sigh, rubbing his navel. He motions for Dayton to enter the classroom.
Siblyn: Your lucky class has just started. Now to your seat, please.
Dayton nods as he enters the classroom. In the back of his head he felt like he was forgetting something. He decided that it was nothing and took his seat.
Outside of the Owl House, King is trying to train up the baby by giving it some dog treats.
King: Aw. Who's a good Prince, Jr.? Who's a good guy?
Eda sat in a lounge chair, sipping some morning brew coffee. She watches from the distance King feeding the little slug taunting his every decision.
Eda: Hey, Mr. Wiggles. You're not gonna teach it anything doing that.
King: It's called positive reinforcement, Eda. And it works wonders.
Prince Jr. eats the treat King was dangling in front of it and doubles in size.
King: Ha ha! See? Now watch this. Prince, Jr.! Attack Eda! Knock over her drink! Mess up her hair!
Eda: Oh, no. Please stop.
King: Well, I haven't seen your student in forever. For all we know, she's not even loyal to you anymore.
Eda: Ha-ha-ha, you wish. But yeah. Where is she?
Now in the Abomination Class, the teacher was grading their abominations. The abomination teacher, Professor Hermonculus, was a short man, having to be carried by his abomination to reach the height of his students.
He tested students' abominations which really weren't going so well. The one he was reviewing had feet all over it's bodies
Hermonculus: Too many toe nails in unexpected places. Failed.
The students looked to the ground, saddened. She made her abomination sink back in the pot and carried it off the stand.
Hermonculus: Pathetic! The biggest abominations are all of you! If the next abomination is a failure all of you get extra homework for a month.
Everyone grumbled to themselves not wanting to go get extra homework from their failure.
Hermonculus: And the next one to come up is….
He was interrupted by Amity raising her hand for his attention.
Amity: Excuse me sure, but I am ready to present my abomination. Rise!
From the command up Pop Amity's abomination, giving a pose. Hermonculus gave a little chuckle.
Hermonculus: I always dae the best for the last Amity. You'll have to wait your turn.
He walks on the stage thinking about who to test next.
Hermonculus: How about…Willow.
Everyone groaned knowing that Willow was gonna fail and give them extra homework. They pretty much accept their fate embarrassing Willow who put cowered in her hood.
Luz poked her head out hearing people talk bad about Willow.
Luz: Don't listen to them, Willow. We can do this.
Willow gave a nod and poked her head back into her pot. She wheeled the cart up the ramp and onto the stand where Hermonculus was ready to judge. She was sweating profusely feeling like this wasn't going to work or fool anyone, but she kept on the facade.
Willow: Um… abomination, rise!
The fake abomination then punched the lid open and jumped out of the pot. She lands on the ground giving a pose.
Luz: Ta-da!
Everyone gasped seeing that Willow's abomination wasn't just sludge. Amity was the most shocked seeing that she literally was the one who saw how her abomination looked.
Willow smiled confidently seeing and hearing the shock factor.
Willow: Abomination, bow.
Luz took a bow towards the students giving a funny 'blah' as she did. Hermonculus was certainly impressed seeing that Willow of all people was doing so well.
Hermonculus: Very impressive. But does it speak?
Luz: Uh, I may be your abomination, but you're my a-mom-ination.
Everyone was awed seeing how the fake abomination called its owner mom. Except one, looking around the room of people actually giving praise to Willow.
Hermonculus laughed in delight, this was one of the best abominations he's seen in a long while beside Amity's.
Hermonculus: A-mom-ination! Splendid word play, A.
He draws Willow's grade onto Luz's forehead. Everyone cheered for Willow and her abomination especially that they weren't getting any extra homework. Everyone except Amity who crossed her arms and looked at the two in complete suspicion.
That abomination didn't look or act right to her and she didn't like how Willow was getting all the attention. She was jealous.
The bell screamed for the end of the period. Willow wheeled her cart out of class and into the hall when she was called by Professor Hermonculus, congratulating on her improvement.
Hermonculus: Wonderful work today, Willow. Looks like we have a new top student.
Amity, walking out of class, dropped her books and gasped. She turned to the professor when he took her star from her cowl.
Amity: But–
He puts the star onto Willow's cowl which made her quite honored.
Willow: T-Thank you, sir.
Hermonculus gave a nod and walked back to his classroom. Willow turned around to find Amity behind her, making her jump.
Amity: Hey!
Willow wonders how she even got there since she was obviously still behind Professor Hermonculus.
Amity: Last time I saw you, your abomination was mush. What did you do?
Willow: I, uh, took your pep talk to heart, Amity.
Amity: I bet you did. I've got my eyes on you, Half-a-Witch. That badge is mine.
She walks backwards, not breaking eye contact with Willow even as she bumps into another student when turning a corner.
Willow: Uh--Oh. I think Amity's onto us.
Back at the Owl House, Eda slammed open the door, slamming Hooty's beak onto the wall.
Hooty: Ow!
Eda: Have you seen Luz?
Hooty: I heard her tiny mouse feet walking close by. Or that might've been some mice. Anyway, someone started moving in that direction.
He tried gesturing with his head which only confused Eda to where he was pointing with him giving a general direction.
Eda: Are you trying to point, or—?
Hooty: Look at the weather vane!
She looks up to the roof to see the weather vane pointing north towards the forest.
Eda: But the only thing that way is the... No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
She reaches Hexside and looks into various windows. The first is a kindergarten classroom.
Teacher #1: Okay, everyone. Recite your runes.
Kids: Krom, Zix, Elgrim, Zenomide—
Eda: No. Blind obedience.
The next classroom has several older students writing at desks while a snake-like teacher speaks.
Teacher #2: Heximal system time! Let's get memorizin'!
Eda: No! Pointless busywork!
She looks upon the final window to see Luz, still covered in abomination goo, is in the last classroom, writing along with the rest of the class.
Eda: No! Why! School!
Meanwhile, in Occult class, Dayton was gathering his stuff from class. Professor Siblyn was at his desk as students left his classroom.
Siblyn: Remember, we have the crystal ball test in a week so be prepared. Also Alighieri I have to talk to you.
As everyone left the class, Dayton stayed behind to talk to the professor.
Dayton: Yes, sir?
Siblyn: Alighieri, you are my best student and I as your teacher have great respect for what you do.
Dayton: Thanks, I try my best.
Siblyn: I'm not finished. But you seem a little on edge. You aren't the earliest person to come to class, rather the opposite. But seeing you in that hall today, you seemed panicked. What's going on?
This topic seemed to have a lot of reluctance on Dayton. He clenched his bag as he sighs.
Dayton: It's something I don't really want to talk about. Just something in the past I want to forget about.
Siblyn sighs, giving a nod. He knew they're nothing he's gonna to say to get past the half demon.
Siblyn: I understand. Just remember that I'm always here when you need me. You may go.
Dayton nods and walks out of the room. Siblyn gave another sigh as he leaned in his seat.
Siblyn: That kid…
Dayton walked through the halls of the school when he noticed someone passing by a window in the classroom. He looked on to see no one there and shrugs it off.
He met up with Willow, Luz, and Gus at lunch. He was telling a story on a demon bounty he had.
Dayton: I dragged it through the ground for about two minutes and almost lit the forest on fire…. Again.
Luz: How do you even light a forest on fire without any fire?
Dayton: Oh, it's all in this…
He dug in his bag for a moment, but couldn't find the item he needed.
Dayton: One second.
He continues to dig through his bag as Gus pulls out a PBJ from his lunch bag and offers some to Luz.
Gus: Do humans eat PBJ?
Luz: Oh my god, I haven't had human food in so long. Please give me some.
Gus splits the sandwich apart and gives half of it to Luz. She noms onto the sandwich before dipping back into her pot. Willow seemed concerned knowing that abominations don't really eat.
Willow: I don't know Gus. What if Amity saw that?
Dayton was still rummaging in his bag. He had pulled out most of his books and papers, but still couldn't find the thing he was looking for.
Dayton: I doubt she did. What's the chances she would have saw–
Interrupting him, Amity jumped into the table. Seeing that Luz took the PBJ.
Amity: I saw that! Abominations don't eat!
She looked into the pot and put her arm through the goop grabbing ahold of Luz. She pulls her out, shaking her to get some answers out of her.
Amity: You can't hide from me. What are you? Who are you? I want answers!
Hermonculus: Amity Blight!
Amity immediately stopped shaking Luz as soon as the professor called her out.
Amity: Huh?
Hermonculus: I suspected a twinge of jealousy, but this, this is just sad.
Amity: But I—No! Look at it.
Luz kept up the facade, groaning and dipping her head back.
Hermonculus: Report to Principal Bump's office.
Amity: But—
Hermonculus: Now!
Amity drops Luz back into the pot and runs out of the cafeteria. As Professor Hermonculus leaves, Luz pops back out, sharing a concerned look with Willow. Dayton looks onto the door of which Amity left before turning away, sighing.
Dayton: Same old Amity.
This gained the attention of Luz as she squiyened her eyes at him.
Luz: Dayton! Do you have a secret past with Amity?
Dayton's face contorted as Gus cringed a little while Willow bit her lip. They knew how much Dayton didn't like to talk about this topic, trying to avoid anything even remotely about Amity.
The fake abomination looked around seeing the looks of others. Perking down on how uncomfortable the air is now.
Luz: Sorry that I brought it up.
Dayton shook his head, he knew that she was gonna find out someday and looks like today is the day.
Dayton: No, it's fine. Pretty much everyone at the school knows what happened.
Luz: What happened?
Willow: It's something that's not too comfortable to talk about.
Gus: Yeah, it's kinda personal.
Luz: Well you can talk to me about anything later, ok.
Dayton nods his head giving the human a small smile.
Dayton: Yeah, ok. Thank you, Luz.
Luz: Can we move somewhere? I want to stretch my legs. Having to sit in here all day is killing me.
Willow nods as they all get up from their seats, Willow wheeling the cart to an empty classroom where Luz climbed out.
Luz: Whoo! I'm a sweaty little abomination. But now we don't have to worry about Amity. High five!
Willow and Gus both stare at her hand in confusion. Dayton walked up and gave a demonstration, slapping her hand on his hand.
Dayton: Slap your hand on her hand. Human thing.
Gus hesitantly gives her a high five. Then he does it several more times with growing confidence with every clap.
Gus: Oh. Oh, my. Oh, man, what a rush!
Dayton laughs seeing that Gus was having so much fun. Everyone turned around when the door slammed open by Amity with a sinister grin. She steps aside for the principal to come walking in, his hand together in his robe.
Principle: Good afternoon, students.
Willow: Principle Bump.
Luz dropped to her knees and went into her abomination.
Dayton: What do we owe the pleasure?
Bump: Just here to make an expectation. Heard that this abomination is quite extraordinary.
He leans down towards Luz, grabbing her by the face. She checked her facial features by turning her neck.
Bump: Abomination, rise.
Luz nervously stood up into her feet.
Bump: Abomination, lie.
Luz: Uh, viral fame is a worthy pursuit. Your cat would never eat you if it got the chance. Chemtrails are real—
Principal Bump: Oh, no, abomination. How strange for it to get the command wrong. I mean lie down.
He points over to the table. Luz gave a nervous smirk as she walked over to it and layed down.
Bump: So very lifelike.
He approached the table with Willow beside him.
Bump: When Miss Blight told me about your abomination, I had to come by, see what she's made of.
Willow: I have the list of ingredients right here!
She digs into her pocket, but Bump puts an arm in front of her.
Bump: No. We were hoping…
He pulls out a jagged knife out of his sleeve.
Bump: …for a closer look.
Dayton's eyes bulged seeing Bump pull out a knife. He had to do something and quickly or Luz was about to be calamari.
Dayton: Sir, do you think this is a bit extreme? It may look pretty real, but it looks just like a proper abomination.
Bump: Oh, Mr. Alighieri. It's my duty as a principal to always check the progress on my students' work. I must see it. Willow, I'll allow you the first cut.
Willow takes the offered dagger and smiles at him nervously. She looks over to Dayton who seemed a bit panicked as she steps closer to Luz.
Willow: Uh, you can't just cut open a human, can you?
Luz and Dayton shake their heads in a panic.
Principal Bump: Willow, go ahead and make the first incision.
Gus: Wait, Principle Bump! High five!
Gaining his attention Gus knocks over three abomination pots. The goo spills together, and the formed abominations stands
Gus: Run!
Willow grabs Luz's arm and they both book it out the door, Dayton following right after them.
Amity: They're getting away!
Bump: No, the intruders won't get far.
He drew a magic circle on the wall and activated the school security system. Red markings spread across the room and into the halls.
Running down the hall, they gasped for air.
Luz: This is all my fault, Willow. I just wanted to see what a real magic school was like.
Dayton: Don't worry, this happens plenty of times. You ain't the first.
Willow: How do you like it?
Luz: It's lovely, actually.
They all have a small giggle before Willow chimes them back in.
Willow: Ok we should get out of her before–
They were too late as the encryptions formed around all the doors. Sealing them inside the school without any escapes.
Dayton: Sealing spell. Always the sealing spell.
Inside of the Owl House's shack, where Eda is sulking in the shame hat. She looks up at the sound of King's voice.
King: Help me, help me, help me!
He runs in and slams the door, then dives into Eda's arms, whimpering. The door shudders under Prince Jr.'s attacks.
Eda: Trouble with your student?
King: Yes, yes!
The banging on the door continues. King scrunched into Eda's hold for protection.
Eda: Are you sure you need my help? Maybe he only wants more of your brilliant lessons.
The door shatters as Prince Jr. bursts through and roars. He grabs King by the tail and drags him out of Eda's arms. King crawled on the ground, leaving little scratch marks.
King: Please help me! You can call me Mr. Wiggles!
Eda stands, removing the shame hat and grabbing her staff. She smacks Prince Jr. in the face with the butt of her staff, making it release King. Prince Jr. retreats as King clings to Eda's leg.
Eda: Okay, Mr. Wiggles. Here's what we're gonna do.
Back at Hexside, the three ran towards an exit when it was blocked off by the seal. They quickly turned around to see Bump summoning abominations by his side.
Dayton: Guys I need you to start running and don't turn back. I got this.
Willow: Dayton! What if you get captured?!
Dayton: Then I'll take the punishment that I'm handed. Now go.
They both didn't seem to like his idea much; they didn't have any choice. They ran down the hall leaving Dayton to deal with the abominations. But not before Willow turns around to speak.
Willow: Be careful, ok.
Dayton looks over his shoulder with a smile.
Dayton: You be careful.
She ran away with Luz, now leaving Dayton to fight against the abominations. Bump crosses his arms and glares at the half demon.
Bump: Mr. Alighieri. You know there are going to be surveyor consequences of your actions.
Dayton: Nothing I handled before. I'm just buying them some time.
Dayton was summoned in Rebellion and charged in the abomination gorge. He slices through one of them before ducking down at a swipe from another.
Another abomination tried charging at him, but was faced with a gun shot in the head. Dayton shot and struck at any abomination getting close to him. Goop fell to the floor as he put down all of them. He looks over to Principal Bump, who seemed quite impressed.
Dayton: Who's next?
Principle Bump smiles as he snaps his fingers. The goop around Dayton slithered between his feet and formed together behind him. A shadow loomed over the boy as he turned around to the giant abomination above him. It let out a deep groan as he looked down onto Dayton.
He looked over to Bump who had a cheeky smile.
Bump: Abomination, capture.
The giant abomination lifts its arms towards Dayton, making the boy run through the open halls of the school. It crawled through the hall giving chase towards the boy.
Dayton: I got to deal with this! Bump always has everything under that sleeve.
On the other side of the hall, Luz and Willow looked on to Dayton running away from the giant abomination. Willow kneeled down, holding her head in frustration.
Willow: This is bad! Dayton is going to get punished and it's all my fault! That's what "Half-a-Witch" Willow gets for trying to get a good grade.
Luz puts a hand on Willow's shoulders.
Luz: You're Full-Witch Willow. And you're great. Dayton is giving his all and you should too. Someone once told me great witches are resourceful.
She pulls out the contents that were in her pocket. Willow gasped, grabbing the slimeball from Luz's hand.
Willow: That's it!
Luz: You mean that greasy slime ball?
Willow: Luz, it's a seed! Thank goodness you had it on you.
Luz remembers how she got the seed from Eda and smiles.
Luz: Yeah, thank goodness someone told me to hold on to it.
Willow places the seed on her lap and writes a magic circle over, chanting a spell.
Willow: Please, grow!
Vines bursted out of the seed and across the ceiling. It went through the hall where Dayton ducked under the abominations' swipes. He dug through his bag still not finding the item he needed.
Dayton: Where is that thing?! Did I drop it?
He then remembered something from a while back. When he bumped into Amity when walking in the halls.
Dayton: Amity… I dropped it when I bumped into her. I should've just picked it up instead of running away!
He slapped his hand on his face, finally remembering. Not paying any attention, he was tripped up by the abomination hand. He fell on his back and looked up as a hand lowered down onto him.
He ducked under when a vine sliced through the abomination's hand, making it groan. The goop fell over on Dayton covering him with abomination sludge.
Dayton: Dang it! You know how hard it takes to get this stuff out of my clothes!
More vines come piercing through the hall stabbing at the abomination. The abomination tried to retreat, but it was stopped by Dayton getting a few shots on it with Pain and Gain.
More shots of vines and bullets pierced through it until it came to the rail of the school. Dayton then summoned Adegust, the two whips. He used them to grab onto the abominations legs and trip him up off the rail. It fell letting out, finally groaning before splatting onto the bottom floor.
Dayton took a few breaths before giving a smile.
Dayton: Jackpot.
He laughs to himself when a hand is planted onto his shoulder. Turning around to see Bump.
Bump: Very impressive, but I think this game is over.
Daytons smiles, his eyes shining purple for a second when he ducked down. Bump looked confused when vines wrapped around him and sent him to the ceiling where they pinned them up.
He looks down towards the floor where he sees that the school was infested with beautiful vines lining the walls and pillars. Petals dropped down from the sky as he looked further to see Dayton walking away.
Dayton: See you tomorrow, Bump.
A small chuckle escaped from his mouth from the hybrid remark.
Dayton: Remarkable.
The seal went down through the school and the exit was finally opened up.
Luz: There's the exit!
They ran towards the exit, but one obstacle came in their way at the very end. Amity wanted her badge.
Amity: Stop right there!
She stopped them in their tracks, ripping a vine off of her.
Amity: I won't let you leave that easily! I want that badge! Abomination, seize!
Abominations start to surround them at Amity's command. Luz punched through one and grabbed onto Willow's hand and made a dash to the next exit. Before they could escape another abomination popped in front of them.
It went to capture them when Rebellion sliced right through it. Its body splattered on the ground revealing Dayton right behind it.
Dayton: You girls, ok?
Willow tackled him into a hug, glad that he was there with them.
Willow: Oh, we're fine. Are you ok?
Dayton: Yeah. Taking down a giant abomination is definitely checked off my bucket list.
They all laugh when even more groaning comes forth. More abominations started to surround them. Willow quickly drew a magic circle and clenched her arms around her making vines trap them.
Willow: Get out of here!
Luz: No, I'm not leaving you!
Willow: We may get detention, but you'll be dissected.
Abominations start to slip through the cracks. Dayton quickly slices their heads off before they get any closer.
Dayton: She's right, Luz. Just get out of here, we'll meet back up at the Owl House.
Luz seemed reluctant, but she didn't have time when Willow used her vines to toss her through the door of the school.
Luz: Willow, Dayton! I can't save you right now. But I know someone who can!
Inside the school the abominations started to get through Willow's vine. Amity was standing over them using the vines as platforms.
Amity: I will have that badge! Just give it up and no one needs to get hurt!
Willow growls using her vines to redirect them at Amity. They passed at her legs, making her trip and hitting the ground. Out of her bag came a purple sphere rolling out on the floor and at Dayton's feet.
Dayton: My crystal ball! You had it the whole time!
Amity looked up not expecting to have Dayton talk to her.
Amity: Doesn't matter! I! Want! That! Badge!
Amity summoned more abominations, making them attack Willow. Dayton quickly kicked up the crystal into his hand and glowed a purple glow.
Dayton: Let the flame show!
Energy from the crystal builds up inside. Dayton unleashed a blast of energy at all of the abomination, disintegrating them. He crouches down letting the energy die out.
Dayton: And that's how you do it.
Amity stammers seeing that all of her abominations we're gone. Willow finally was able to let down the magic circle. Vines going back into the circle.
Her body felt numb as she fell not before Dayton caught her in his arms.
Dayton: I got you. That was close one huh, Willow.
Willow tiredly smiles.
Willow: We did great.
Coming down from the ceiling, Principle Bump lands on the ground and walks towards the students. Amity came out of her stammering and got back on her feet.
Amity: Principle Bump! I demand to have that badge! I earned it more than that "Half-a-Witch" who isn't even supposed to use plant magic!
Dayton had enough of Amity and her insaneness of wanting a badge.
Dayton: How about you shut up for once! Willow's more of a witch than you'll ever be. She made all of this while you can only summon some abominations. Big whoop! You want a badge here, take it!
He grabs the star off Willow and puts it on Amity's cowl.
Dayton: Because she's better at something else and that's being herself.
Amity and everyone was speechless. Dayton hadn't spoken like that in a while and whenever he got like that. You know you are up.
Bump walks up to Willow, his chin in his hand.
Bump: I agree. She doesn't belong in the abomination track.
Willow lowers her head when Bump puts a hand on her shoulder.
Bump: She is better at other things. Congratulations Ms. Park. You have just been transferred into the plant track.
Willow eyes burst open before squealing in delight. She grabbed on Dayton as jumped up and down in excitement.
Willow: I'm gonna be in the plant track! I'm gonna be in a plant track!
Seeing that she was acting in front of Dayton she backed away blushing. Clearing her throat.
Willow: Thank you, sir.
Another voice came with Gus popping in between them and hugged the both of them.
Gus: I'm excited for no reason!
Amity: But sir! They wrecked the school. They deserved to be punished.
Bump gave Amity an unamused look as he walked over to her.
Bump: Maybe someone should learn how to play nice with their abominations. Ms. Blight good day.
He walks away leaving Amity to run after him.
Amity: I still get extra credit for this, right?
Everyone laughed at Amity as she chased after Principle Bump. That's when Willow remembered about Luz.
Willow: Oh no, Luz! We got to know if she's ok!
Dayton: Follow me. I think I know where she is.
Coming out of the Wood the three saw Luz hugging up onto Eda and King.
Dayton: There she is!
Willow: Luz!
Luz turned around to get hugged by Willow, Gus, and Dayton. Eda looked confused not knowing what a hug is.
Eda: Seriously what is that?
Willow: You won't believe it, Luz. Everything is perfect now!
Luz: It's true. I don't believe it.
Willow: Principal Bump was so impressed by my plant work he's switching me to the plant magic track! Look!
She backs away and snaps her fingers. With a glow of green magic and a twirl, her sleeves and leggings go from pink to green.
Luz: Whoo! Oh. What about Amity?
Gus: Last we saw, she was asking Bump if today could count as extra credit.
Willow: And you wouldn't believe how Amity got yelled at by Dayton.
Luz gasped.
Luz: You yelled at Amity?
Dayton: Got tired of her talking down on Willow and decided that she needed to get off her pedestal.
Luz: Well, I can't wait to see you in action next time I sneak in.
Everyone else cringes, knowing that that ain't happening any time soon.
Gus: Uh, about that. You're kinda, sorta... banned.
He pulls out and unfurls a poster reading "BANNED" with a picture of Luz covered in abomination goo under it. Eda seemed the most cheerful about Luz getting banned.
Eda: That's my girl!
Willow: But we could come here and teach you what we learned.
Dayton: Yeah, I can also teach you how to read a crystal ball.
Luz: Aw. That would be nice. But... I have a pretty great teacher already.
Eda: Yeah, that's right. Luz is my student.
She snatched the banned poster out of Gus's hand.
Eda: Back off, academy twerps.
Dayton: Like you're any better.
Everyone gave a group laugh as Eda looked at Luz's banned poster.
Eda: Ah, baby's first wanted poster. Good job, kid.Looks like I taught you something after all.
Gus: Uh, you high five with your hands, not your head.
Dayton puts Gus into a headlock and starts giving him a boogie. Everyone else laughed as the day finally came to an end.
