It was nighttime in the kingdom of Vale, the shattered moon silently hanging in the sky. The camera quickly zooms out to show the empty city streets and the light in the windows turned off. A person was walking in the dead of night.
He is a tall man, about 6'8, wearing a black and red hoodie which he keeps up to hide his face. He wears blue jeans and black sneakers. He wears a pair of fingerless gloves on both hands. On the left side of his waist is a sword sheathed in a white scabbard while strapped to his right is a rectangular box of sorts.
He looks at a list of items which are mostly crossed out except one. "Alright, I have almost everything. All that's left now is to buy Lightning Dust, but who would be open at this hour?" He then looks and conveniently finds a Dust shop still open. "That will do." He then looks at the sign. "'From Dust till Dawn'. A bit on the nose there." He opens the door and walks in.
*DING~ DING~*
"Good evening. How can I help you today?" The old shopkeeper asks.
"I'm looking for Lighting Dust. Do you have any available?" He asks.
The old man nods. "Oh sure. It's down there by your left." He points to the left side of the store.
The man lets out a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank you. You have no idea how hard it's been to find a shop open at this hour."
As he goes to the back to get the Dust, the familiar chime on the door plays as the shopkeeper turns to the newcomers.
"Welco-" But the shopkeeper's greeting was cut short by the people who walked in.
In front of him is a man with orange hair and a cigar in his mouth. He is wearing a white suit, a black bowler hat and a cane. Behind him are a group of men wearing black/red suits along with red sunglasses.
"Finally. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop open at this hour?" The man, Roman Torchwick, asks the shopkeeper.
"P-Please-" The shopkeeper tries to say something but is quickly stopped by the white gentleman.
"Sh-sh-sh-sh calm down, we're not here for your money." He turns to his henchmen. "Grab the dust."
Immediately, the henchmen spread out and began to empty out all of the canisters of Dust they could find.
One of the goons sees someone in the magazine area. It was a girl wearing a black, long-sleeved blouse with red trims and a skirt with matching colors, black stockings and black combat boots with red lances. She also has a utility belt with several pouches and sniper-rounds on it.
"Alright kid, put your hands where I can see them." Henchman demands as he pulls out his sword, but gets no response. Frustrated, the criminal walks closer to the girl. "I said 'hands in the air'! You got a death wish or something!?" He grabs the girl's shoulder and forces her to turn around, causing her hood to slide down. The girl has black hair that fades to red at the tips and is wearing headphones with music being heard.
But what was most bizarre about her was the pair of silver eyes staring back at him.
"Huh?" The girl seems confused as the man points to her headphones and proceeds to take them off. "Yes?"
"I said put your hands up, now!"
The girl arches an eyebrow. "Are you… robbing me?"
"Yes!"
"Oohhh" Ruby exclaimed before she kicked the mobster with such force that he shattered a window that was behind him.
"What the hell was that?" Another of the men shouted. He rushed to the alley where the girl was still standing and aimed her gun at her, but before he could fire the little girl suddenly turned into a cloud of rose petals and slammed into the mobster tackling him through the broken window.
The girl reaches for the metal box in her back. With a press of a single button the box shifted and expanded until it took the form of a massive red scythe. She masterfully spins the scythe before threateningly slamming the tip of the blade into the ground. Lastly, she reaches for her headphones and turns them off.
Meanwhile, one of the goons goes to the back and finds someone in front of a canister of lightning Dust.
"C'mon, c'mon! Of all times for this piece of shit to get jammed, it has to be now!" He growls in annoyance.
"Hey! Hands in the air!" The grunt exclaims trying to get the mystery man's attention.
"Huh?" The man slowly stands up in his full height, surprising the grunt. "Are you talking to me?"
The grunt looks at the giant before he shakes his head. "Yes! Now hand over your Dust!"
"I think he's trying to rob you." A male voice in his head said.
"Hey, are you even lis-!" But the criminal didn't finish as he was struck with a powerful haymaker, sending flying out of the building like a rocket.
As he walks to the front, he sees a girl in red fighting more of those goons with her massive scythe and is doing so effectively.
"Hm, I'd give her performance a 7 out of 10." Another voice chimes in, this time it was female. "That scythe of hers is too big, too cumbersome, yet she is handling it like a master. Whoever her teacher is, they know their stuff."
"I-I-" The shopkeeper tries to say something but is stopped as the hooded man pulls out a card from nowhere.
"Here. This should cover the Dust and the damages to your store." He told him as he placed the card in front of the owner and left.
He walks out of the store and sees a couple of goons trying to gang up on her. Without losing a beat, he detaches the sword along with the scabbard and presses a button, causing the scabbard to expand, extending the sharper edges making it more deadly. He then rushes in and easily dispatches all of the goons in front of him, a fact that surprises both the girl and the thief.
"Wow!" The girl mutters out loud, seemingly mesmerized by the swordsman fighting prowlers. "That was awesome!"
The criminal looks down at his beaten henchmen. "You were worth every cent. Truly you were." He takes the cigar off his mouth and throws it on the ground. "Well Red, Black, I think we can all say this was an eventful evening," he crushes the cigar under his cane, "and as much as I'd love to stick around…" He raises his cane at the two, revealing a reticle for aiming, while also uncovering the muzzle. "I'm afraid this is where we part ways-" However, before he can finish, the mystery man is already in front of him.
"What!?" He manages to dodge his strike, albeit barely. The gentleman thief aims his cane at his chest and fires it point blank. He uses this chance to climb a nearby ladder, however, just as he manages to get to the top, a shadow suddenly catches his vision and when he turns to look sees the hooded figure right behind him.
"Bastard… do you know who you're messing with!?" He demands.
"Roman Torchwick. The Gentleman Thief of Vale. Wanted for various accounts of theft, drug dealings, and assassination." The hooded man revealed.
"Well, looks like you've done your homework." Roman twirls his cane around.
"I also know that you are currently working for some unsavory people who want you to steal all the Dust. He elaborates.
This causes Roman to narrow his eyes. "Alright, who the hell are you?"
"Heh." The man raises his arm and pulls back his hood, revealing a messy blond hair and deep blue eyes. "It's Jaune Arc. Motherfucker."
This causes Roman to freeze at the name. "J-Jaune Arc. A-As in THAT Jaune Arc!?"
Jaune gives him a smirk. "Looks like someone's done their homework."
"WHAT THE HELL IS THE LEADER OF THE GOLDEN SUNS DOING HERE!?" Roman exclaims.
Jaune shrugs. "Would you believe me if I said I was on vacation?" Roman rapidly shakes his head. "Thought so."
Just then, a loud bang is heard and they turn to see the red girl from earlier leaping upwards and landing on the rooftop. "You're not going anywhere!"
"Tch." Roman clicks his tongue.
She's about to rush him, but is stopped when a flying VTOL cargo ship appears behind him. A Bullhead. Jaune always wondered why they named them that; it looked nothing like a bull's head. He remembered Terra's three-hour-long lecture/rant about the name, followed by another rant about Remnant's halt in technological advancement and dependance of a singular resource for everything.
He couldn't fault a girl for her passion, but there are limits to how much he can tolerate.
Roman wastes no time to get on the aircraft. "Well Jaune, I'd say it was nice meeting you, but then I'd be lying. Caio." He throws a Dust crystal into air and shoots it with his cane, creating an explosion.
"Whoa-ho-ho!" Roman cheers.
"Include!"
"Huh?" Roman looks down only to pull himself back as arrows fly out of the smoke and straight towards him. The smoke fades and it reveals Jaune and Red not only unharmed, but now Jaune holding a metallic, black bow that he didn't have before.
Jaune pulls the string back and fires three arrows at Roman, who barely manages to dodge them.
"Shit!" Roman then rushes to the cockpit and looks at his boss/getaway driver. "We've got trouble. Big trouble!"
The black haired woman just grunts and stands up from the pilot's seat. She scoffs when she sees the 'big trouble'.
'What could a pair of children possibly-' But her thoughts are cut short by the incoming arrows. At the last second, Cinder unleashes a torrent of fire to melt the arrows but that only causes them to detonate in her face.
"Argh!" Cinder screams in pain as she is pushed further into the Bullhead.
"I told you they were trouble!" Roman exclaims.
Now Cinder is angry. Flames appear in her right eye and she raises her right hand towards the two children and launches a fireball at them.
The two manage to dodge the attack as Jaune continues to fire arrows in succession at the aircraft. Cinder slams her hands together before extending them outwards, unleashing a wave of fire that destroys the arrows on contact.
'Even with only half the strength of a Maiden, she is still able to stop my arrows. She's strong.' Jaune then turns to the red girl. "Hey, I have an idea. Get her attention away from me for as long as you can."
"O-Okay." Red then transforms her scythe into a gun of sorts and fires at the aircraft, getting the woman's attention which works as the woman launches more fireballs at the girl.
"I am the Bone of my Sword." An object materializes in Jaune's hand. It was a sword with a blue/yellow handle, however, the blade part of the sword was twisted into a spiral-like drill.
Jaune proceeds to place the sword on the bow and as he pulls back, the sword becomes longer and more aerodynamic, releasing energy that cracks the floor he is standing on.
Cinder quickly senses the bursts of power and tries to stop the incoming attack with her fire.
But it was too late.
"Caladbolg II!" Jaune lets go and the arrow flies.
"Oh shit!" Roman tried to maneuver the Bullhead out of the way while Cinder uses her magic to erects a barrier, but it was no use.
The sword/arrow hybrid struck one of the engines causing an explosion that engulfs the entire ship, effectively destroying it in one fell swoop. Jaune moves closer and shields Ruby as they're blown back by the shockwave and the molten debris that fall on them. He was thankful that his Aura absorbed it all, or else he wouldn't be standing at all.
As Jaune looks back, he sees a ball of fire being jettisoned from the explosion... and the scent of cinnamon in the air.
'Seriously, she even survived Caladbolg at close range? She's a tenacious little thief, I'll give her that.' Jaune thought before a red streak suddenly knocks him down to the floor.
"WHATWASTHAT!?THATWASSOCOOL!WASTHATYOURSEMBLANCE!?WHAT'SYOURNAME!?WHEREAREYOUFROM!?AREYOUAHUNTSMAN!?CANIHAVEYOURAUTOGRAPH!?" The red girl was talking so fast and so loud Jaune couldn't comprehend what she was saying.
"Well, not everyday you get tackled by a fangirl. And a cute one at that. You are certainly moving up in the world." The voice remarks with sarcasm.
'Shut up, EMIYA.' Jaune growled. "Hey, can you get off me? You're scythe is poking my leg."
Ruby's eyes widen and quickly bolts off of Jaune. "S-Sorry!" She blushes in embarrassment.
"It's fine." Jaune slowly gets up. "By the way, what's your name?"
This causes the red girl to perk up. "Oh! It's Ruby! Ruby Rose!"
"Ruby Rose, seriously? Couldn't she have a more original name?" EMIYA said.
"I quite like it. It suits her." Gawain chimes in.
"You're just saying that because she's cute. She's a walking pun waiting to happen." EMIYA told him.
"Now, now, there's no need to be rude, Archer. You don't want to get scolded by Jeanne again, do you?"
EMIYA rolls his metaphorical eyes. "Whatever."
'Could you two be quiet? I can't think straight with you both making such a racket.' Jaune told them.
"Sooo, what's your name?" Ruby excitedly asked.
"Oh, my name is Jaune Arc." Jaune says with a smile.
'You forgot to say 'short, sweet, rolls of the tongue, ladies love it'.' Gawain said.
Yeah, there was no way in hell he was going to say that.
Jaune stands up. "Well, it was nice meeting you, Ruby. Thanks for the help." He starts walking towards the ladder, much to the confusion of the red reaper.
"Wait, where are you going?" Ruby asked.
"Away from here." Jaune replies. "I would suggest you do the same if you don't want to deal with the authorities. They must be on their way as we speak." God knows he didn't need any more drama.
"I'm afraid it is far too late for that young man." Curse his E-ranked luck.
Timeskip
"I hope you two realize how many problems you caused. Not only could you have gotten killed, but you could have endangered the lives of everyone in the kingdom." The huntress, Glynda Goodwitch if Ruby remembered correctly, was currently scolding them.
"I don't see what the problem is. No one got hurt and we stopped an attempted robbery." Jaune crossed his arms. "If you didn't want us to get involved, then maybe you should have been more diligent instead of sitting in your ass all day like a moron."
Ruby just looks on silently. The difference between them was like night and day. Where Ruby was nervous, Jaune was confident. Where Ruby was hunched over trying to make herself look small, Jaune sat upright and stared at the Huntress square in the eye.
"H-How dare you! Do you have any idea who I am!?" Glynda yelled.
"I know who you are, and I don't care. So why don't you let us go instead of pointlessly wasting our time?" Jaune retorts, his foot tapping rapidly at the floor.
Glynda glares at the young man, eyes brimming with clear anger. It was clear that she wasn't used to people talking back to her. But she managed to compose herself at the last moment and stared at Jaune right in his eyes.
"I would but there's someone who wants to talk to you." Glynda said and soon the door to the interrogation room opened. In walked a man Jaune recognized instantly.
He is a middle-aged man with gray-white hair and brown eyes. He wears black pants, a black suit under a green vest with a bright green scarf with a cross pin in the middle. He wears a pair of green-tinted glasses on his face. On his left hand is a coffee mug and on his right is a tray of cookies.
Jaune rolls his eyes. 'Ozpin. Why am I not surprised?'
"Ruby Rose." The man looks at the red reaper closely. "You… have silver eyes."
"Um… yeah?" Ruby said, clearly perplexed.
"So, where do you learn to do this?" Ozpin asks, pointing at the footage of the fight.
"S-Signal Academy." Ruby replies.
"They taught you how to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?" Ozpin asks, as he puts down the tray on the table.
"Seriously? They think a SCYTHE is the most dangerous weapon? He must be joking." EMIYA said.
"Well, it certainly isn't the easiest weapon to master. I remember my brother practicing using a scythe before he gave up." Gawain said.
"Well, one teacher in particular." Ruby said. She looks down at the tray and begins to devour all of the cookies.
"I see. It's just that I've only seen one other scythe wielder of that skill before. A dusty old crow…"
"Dah mee unfhel." Ruby says with her mouth full.
"Don't talk while you're eating, young lady." Glynda scolds her.
Ruby swallows the cookies down. "Sorry. That's my uncle Qrow. He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now I'm all like WATAA and HYAA!" She makes kung-fu noises.
"She's lucky Assassin isn't here. He'd be so pissed off." EMIYA comments.
"So I've noticed. So what is an adorable girl doing in a school designed to train warriors?" Ozpin asked.
"Well, I want to be a Huntress." Ruby replies.
Ozpin arches an eyebrow. "You want to slay monsters?"
"Yeah." Ruby nods. "I only have two more years of training left at Signal and then I'm going to apply at Beacon. See my sister's starting there this year and she's trying to become a Huntress and I'm trying to become a Huntress because I want to help people. My parents always taught us to help others so I thought I might as well make a career out of it. I mean the police are all right but Huntsman and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and well, you know!?"
Glynda gives Ruby an almost concerned look.
"Oh god, I knew it. She's another wannabe hero." EMIYA growls in disgust. "A child who believes they can be a hero if they just save people. Can't wait to see reality give her a crushing reminder."
"Stop it, Sir EMIYA. Not everyone with dreams of heroics turned out like you." Gawain said.
"You'll see." EMIYA told him.
"... do you know who I am?" Ozpin asked.
"You're Professor Ozpin. Headmaster of Beacon." Ruby replied.
"Hello."
"H-Hi."
"Do you want to come to my school?" Ozpin asked.
Ruby leans in a little. "More than anything.
Ozpin drinks his coffee(or is it hot cocoa?). "... okay."
Ruby's smile grows wider before she suddenly activates her Semblance, and begins to spin around the room. "YEEEEAAAAHHHH!" She returns back to her seat, the room now completely covered in rose petals.
Ozpin doesn't seem fazed by all of the petals. "Well then, you best get home now. Tomorrow's gonna be a big day for you."
"Yes sir!" Ruby salutes the man and rushes out of the room.
"Now then," Ozpin turns back to Jaune, the atmosphere around the room completely shifts. "I didn't expect you to be here in Vale, Golden Sun. You usually tend to avoid the kingdoms."
Glynda glares down at the young man. Golden Sun. She knew the name. Anyone in the kingdoms knows the name of that damned organization. Five years ago, they stopped an onslaught of Grimm that would have overwhelmed a colony of villages. According to the reports, a group of seven people, all of them wearing 'unique' outfits, appeared out of nowhere and decimated the Grimm in less than five minutes.
Five… minutes!
Usually, that would be great. However, it was then that their true intentions were made known as the villages they protected were Atlas outposts and like thieves in the night, they took everything of value. To this day, it was still a mystery how they managed to move so much machinery so quickly without anyone noticing.
As you can imagine, Atlas was furious with this turnabout, and demanded for the group's immediate capture. James Ironwood mobilized an entire squadron of his soldiers to what they believed to be their hideout… only for James to find them beaten to a pulp.
Since then, they have appeared all over Remnant at random, stopping any conflict they could find. They would take on missions that were almost too difficult or even impossible for normal Huntsmen and then charge outrageous prices for their services.
The White Fang apparently had a run into one of their members and things seemed to have gone sour because the entire Anima branch was slaughtered.
She saw the pictures and it took everything to not throw up on the spot. The bodies were sliced apart, decimated to the point they weren't recognizable unless someone literally put the pieces together. Qrow said that this wasn't the work of an amateur, something that we all agreed on. They surmised that whoever did this had a thorough knowledge of human anatomy and had weapons so sharp they could easily cut through the body even with their Aura active.
Jaune narrows his eyes. "I never liked that name. Whoever came up with it is an idiot." Seriously, that name was dumb.
"You certainly have an interesting background." Ozpin makes a gesture at Glynda who pulls up a holographic projection of Jaune's information. "Jaune Luna Arc. Age 15. Born to one Nicolas Claud-Arc and Juniper Arc. You are the fourth child out of seven siblings." Glynda scrolls down showing information on Nicolas. "According to this, Nicolas Arc was found on top of a pile of rubble severely injured. He was taken to the nearest hospital but after a couple of weeks, he ran away from said hospital and hasn't been found since." Glynda then pulled information on Juniper. "As for Juniper Arc, she suffered a psychotic breakdown and was placed in a mental hospital where she's been treated for the past five years."
"I always wondered what happened to them." Jaune chuckles. "Serves them right."
Glynda looks at the young Arc with shock while Ozpin stays cool. "And why do you feel this way?"
Jaune simply smirks. "You're a smart guy, Oz. Figure it out."
Glynda had enough. "You dare-"
"Glynda." Ozpin said.
"But sir-" She stops as Ozpin raises his hand. "It seems I have stepped into something personal. I will not press the matter any further. However, there is something I would like to ask you."
Jaune raises an eyebrow.
"I would like you to attend Beacon Academy."
"Not interested." Jaune's response was swift and resolute.
"I would prefer if you gave it some thought Mr. Arc." Ozpin encouraged.
"Oh I have. My sources revealed a lot about you, especially that inner circle of yours." This causes the professors' eyes to widen. "A group of people in powerful positions from each of the four kingdoms, each of them swore to protect the world from this 'Queen of Grimm' and secure the seasonal Maidens: four women capable of wielding magic." Jaune continues. "I also know that the current Fall Maiden was attacked over a year ago and is currently housed somewhere in Beacon. Do you know what this shows me? It shows that you are not taking this seriously. The fact that the people responsible for the Fall Maiden are currently running around stealing Dust under your watch shows me just how arrogant and incompetent you are."
Glynda just couldn't fathom it. How did he find out!? Was there some sort of leak!? No, that can't be. Qrow isn't a whistleblower, even if you gave him enough alcohol to kill the average man. James and Leo wouldn't either, not with every single innocent life in the world at stake.
"... I see. Then I will change tactics." Suddenly Ozpin flings the table aside and extends his cane which he kept hidden.
"Trace On." Jaune projects Kanshou and Bakuya to block Ozpin's attack. "You really can't handle rejection, can't you?"
"Make no mistake, Mr. Arc. Just because you have done some good does not absolve you of your crimes. So, I will give an ultimatum." Ozpin told him. "You can either join Beacon Academy as a first year student, you will be granted asylum from Atlas and the council."
"Or?" Jaune asked.
"Or you can leave my kingdom, but make no mistake. If you leave Vale, Atlas will hunt you down. The choices are yours and yours alone."
"I recommend taking the offer Jaune. We may be able to uncover more about this queen if we stay in Vale. And possibly the origins of these Maidens." Gawain suggested.
'Yeah, but…'
"I hate to admit it, but Sir. Gawain is right. We may gain more information if we cooperate." EMIYA agreed.
"Tch. Fine, I accept." Jaune reluctantly said.
This caused Ozpin to smile. "Excellent." He lowers his cane and Jaune does the same.
Ozpin eyes the swords as they disappear. "An interesting Semblance you have there. Your ability to create weapons on a whim is truly impressive."
"... can I leave now?" Jaune was getting a little creeped out by his statement.
"Of course." The two professors step aside and let the young blond leave. "See you at school tomorrow."
"..." Jaune stops and glances back at Ozpin, before pulling back the door and taking his leave.
Glynda leans closer to the headmaster. "Sir, are you sure this is wise?"
"I am more than sure, Glynda. I even see this as a blessing by the gods." Ozpin smiled.
Glynda just looks confused.
"Jaune's swords were made of magic, Glynda. I sensed it the moment our weapons made contact." Glynda's eyes widened. "It's even possible that all of his siblings can use magic which would explain a lot of the bizarre events surrounding them." Ozpin chuckles. "His magic is similar to Ms. Scarlatina's Semblance, but unlike hers, Mr. Arc's had more of a substance. They were real swords. It makes me wonder what else Mr. Arc has hidden up his sleeve."
"Sir, are you okay?" Glynda asked, a bit disturbed by her boss' creppy behavior.
"Hm?" Ozpin looks at his assistant. "Oh, I'm sorry Glynda. I suppose seeing a new type of magic got me a little giddy."
Glynda sighs. "You can be such a child at times, sir." She looks at him. "Still, is it wise to just leave him be? He knows too much after all, not to mention he is a wanted criminal."
"I would not worry about that." Ozpin gives her a knowing smile. "After all, an Arc never goes back on his word."
Meanwhile
Jaune walks out of the police station, but as he walks through the streets, his pocket begins to vibrate.
He takes his Scroll from his pocket and sees the caller ID. "Oh boy…" He answers it and puts it in his ears. "Hey si-"
"You were arrested!? How could you be so careless!?" Her twin sister's voice screamed out.
Jaune just blinks at her words. "But… how did you…"
"I had Mary hack into Vale's cameras. I saw the whole thing. Didn't Medea tell you not to use magecraft so carelessly!? Even if you're just using EMIYA's projection magecraft, you still need to be careful!" Jeanne states.
"Come on, sis. Besides, Tracing is just way too useful." It was easy to give people the idea that EMIYA's magecraft was his Semblance. After all, summoning Semblances do exist although they are very rare. "Anyways, how's everything back at the base?"
"Pretty good. Terra says that at our current rate, we can have Chaldea up and running by next week." Jeanne informed him.
"Really!? That's great, sis!" Jaune exclaims with joy. Da Vinci truly is a genius. "Oh, I also have something to tell you."
"Go on."
"I'm going to Beacon academy." Jaune revealed.
The silence between them was deafening.
"...what?" Jeanne did not sound amused.
"Y-Yeah. Professor Ozpin offered me-"
"LIMP-DICK OZPIN CAME TO YOU AND OFFERED YOU A SPOT AT BEACON!?" Jeanne yelled. "PLEASE TELL YOU DIDN'T TAKE IT!"
Jaune nervously chuckles. "Actually… I did."
The next thing Jaune hears are sounds of things breaking in the background, Jeanne screaming, and the smell of smoke coming from the Scroll, which he didn't know was even possible.
"You know, I knew this would happen but I didn't say anything. Kind of a dick move on my part." EMIYA comments.
"Jeanne? Sis, calm down. That's not all that's happened today." Jaune said. "I may also have found a lead to the Fall Maiden."
The background noise stops. "Are you sure?"
"There was a woman in a Bullhead that attacked us with fireballs. The moment the attack hit, I could smell something similar to cinnamon coming from them. It's safe to say that she is the one who attacked Amber." Jaune said.
"Did you get a good look at her face?" Jeanne asked.
"No. Her face was too obscured by the shadows to get a good look. All I could see was that she was wearing a red dress." Jaune replied.
"Well, that sure narrows it down." Jeanne said sarcastically. "At least your little trip to Vale wasn't a complete waste of time."
"It sure hasn't, and from the looks of it, it seems like they're planning something big." Jaune said.
"Do you want to get everyone ready?" Jeanne asked.
Jaune shakes his head as he arrives at his hotel. "Nah, too risky right now. Ozpin's already keeping a close eye on me. Mobilizing everyone could make him suspicious and our thief paranoid." He walks inside and gets on the elevator. "I'll let you know when to move when the time is right. For now, we'll stay under the radar."
"Okay, well, you're the boss. We'll follow you to Hell and back." Jeanne declares. "We miss you."
"I miss you too, sis. Tell the others I said hi." With that, Jaune hangs up the call as the elevator doors open and he arrives at his floor. He walks for a bit and stops at a door. He takes out a card which he lifts up to a card reader, unlocking the door and allowing him inside.
Inside is a small but quaint room with brown walls, a queen sized bed, and another door to his right leading to the bathroom.
Without missing a beat, Jaune took off his shoes and sword and went straight to his bed; he collided with it like a high-speed train.
"What a day…" Jaune groaned out. "I'm ready to sleep it off now."
"Don't forget to set your alarm clock, Jaune. We need to leave first thing in the morning." Gawain reminded him.
"I doubt he needs to wake up early for Beacon. That Ozpin guy didn't seem like the type to care too much if you show up early." EMIYA said. "The dominatrix on the other hand-"
"Good Oum, could you both shut up for a minute? I'm trying to sleep." Jaune grunted out.
"You could just remove us from your being if we bother you that much." EMIYA points out.
"Oh right…" He places his hand on his chest. "Uninstall." In a flash of light, two Class Cards appear in his hand; Saber and Archer.
Jaune smiles as he looks at the cards. "Good night, guys." His eyes grow heavy as he loses focus and the cards fall on the bed.
'Beacon Academy… I wonder what awaits me there…' Those are Jaune's last thoughts as his consciousness drifts off.
Meanwhile
On top of a penthouse, a person looks down at the kingdom. He is a young man with combed white hair and icy blue eyes. His attire consists of a short-sleeved white dress shirt, the sleeves fastened just above his elbows by navy blue cuffs, each with twin gold buttons. Over his untucked shirt, he wears a light blue vest, with a black handkerchief in his right breast pocket. He also wears a black necktie, navy blue trousers and black dress shoes.
"Aren't you happy, Whitley? You finally got away from that bastard sperm donor." The female voice rings in his head. She sounds extremely prideful and haughty.
"I should but-"
"WHITLEY! WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT TOUCHING MY THINGS!?" A shrill of a voice rings out in the background.
Whitley sighs. "I just wish I didn't have to be with her of all people."
"I don't know why we don't just kill her. It's not like that bastard Jacques will give two shits whether or not she dies." The voice said.
Whitley just lets out another sigh. "For the thousandth time, Mordred, no. We can't kill her or else Winter will grow more suspicious of us. The last thing we need is for the entire Atlesian military to come marching towards us."
"Pfft, what are they gonna do? Light us up with their matchsticks? As long as I'm here, there's nothing that can stop us!" Mordred exclaims with pride.
"Sometimes, I wonder if I am cursed with bad luck, to end up with a knight as bombastic as you." Whitley remarks.
"See? Told you you'd warm up to me." Mordred laughs.
"I loathe you, sometimes, almost as much as Weiss." Whitley said but his smile betrays his words.
From behind him, we see a suitcase and sticking out of it, is a gold card glowing with power.
Author Notes
And here it is! The long awaited chapter that everyone's been asking for!
So when I was thinking about how to start the chapter, someone messaged me regarding the Class Cards. Will they be used by one person or several? So I decided that several people will have Class Cards. How did they get these cards in the first place will be explained as the story goes on. Another thing is the whole Golden Sun group. To put it short, it is a mercenary group led by Jaune with his sisters and himself as its primary members. They made a name for themselves through their methods which caught the eye/hate of all major governments on Remnant.
Terra is there as well and, of course, has her own Class Card as does Whitley. There aren't that many stories where Whitley is a main character, it's either Weiss or Winter. As for why I chose Mordred as his partner, well, I thought it would be interesting. Of course, there's more to this but that'll be explained in the future.
As for how Jaune knows Amber and the Maidens as a whole, that'll be explained later.
Speaking of, here's a update of Jaune's Class Cards:
Saber: Gawain
Archer: EMIYA
Lancer:
Rider:
Caster:
Assassin:
Berserker:
Ruler:
Avenger:
As always, leave a comment. Good, bad, it doesn't matter.
Peace~
