Hello, bots and cons. Centurion Maximo here and welcome back to Young Justice: Frontiers. This is the second part of the two/multi-parter Battle of Detroit. The first part involved the major event of the bombing of Detroit City, Michigan, courtesy of Firefly and Blaze's sect of the Machination which has a new member: Nitro. However, that's not all that happened.
We also visit Atlantis still under Ocean Master's rule and visit said villain inside the war room in a meeting with other Machination members discussing certain topics including a new project codenamed Oceanus. We also got an Ala'nna cameo along with Red Volcano.

*Detroit City, Michigan. 04:12 am*
Detroit City was still burning and the ground was still cracked open like an egg. The Justice League, well, most of them were helping people flee from the flames and sharp rocks that popped up from the results of the bombing. Superman flew into buildings and back out with hurt civilians in his arms, not caring about his own well-being. Batman, Shadowwing, and Windstrike fired flame retardant grenades to put out fires from the air, something that other heroes like Martian Manhunter were very thankful for. Other heroes like Wonder Woman, Black Canary, and Red Tornado were mainly focusing on rescue operations. Even Red Arrow assisted Green Arrow and Artemis with putting out more flames.
Ratchet, meanwhile, was assisting with evacuation efforts and doing a good job of it with the assistance of Shade who also had flame retardant grenades in her arsenal. "How you holdin up, Ratchet?" She asked.
"I'll live on, Shade." Ratchet answered, grateful that a perimeter was already quickly set up.
Ironhide and Thunderscorch were lifting up damaged structures so that more people could escape. However, they spotted something in the distance. What they saw didn't sit right with them. Not at all. "We've got incoming!" Thunderscorch shouted over the comms.
Everyone turned to see Skyquake and Dreadwing flying towards them at high speeds. "Ready to begin the mission, Skyquake?" Dreadwing asked.
"Always, brother. Let's begin!" Skyquake responded to his twin as they fired missiles before ascending into the darkened sky.
"We have to stop those missiles!" Blue Lantern screamed. Hal, John, Kyle, and Guy flew up into the air and created a unified shield which the missiles collided with and exploded on impact. "Whew! That was close…"
Meanwhile, Batman landed his Batwing and hopped out when he saw Bludgeon standing there a few feet away from him, his sword already poised to kill with a grin. "Coming here to risk death again, Wayne?" He taunted with a smirk on his face.
Clenching his fists, Batman immediately got into a fighting stance, ready to fight Bludgeon again. "I could say the same about you this time, Bludgeon." The Dark Knight growled.
"As much as I would enjoy killing you again, I'm afraid it is not my objective this time." Bludgeon sighed as he sheathed his katana.
"What do you mean?" Batman asked, his expression not changing at all.
"That is for me to know and you to not find out, Wayne." Bludgeon said simply. "Besides, my true mission merely prolongs your inevitable destruction." A ground bridge opened up and the Metallikato Master slowly walked through, not taking his eyes off the caped crusader until it closed.
Seconds later, Batman opened the commlink. "Everyone. Bludgeon just left through a ground bridge. The Machination must be here somewhere in the city."
"That settles it. We must take care of any Machination and Decepticons in the city, and keep the collateral damage to a minimum." Optimus Prime stated.
"That's not exactly playing to our strengths, Prime." Ironhide commented.
"Old friend, we must protect the people of this planet and get them to trust us." Optimus reminded softly.
"I suggest we split into teams, then." Jolt suggested, grateful he and the other crew members of the Xanthium were finally getting some fresh air.
"I agree with Jolt. That sounds like a good idea." Green Arrow agreed, his bow at the ready. "Who's gonna go with who?"
"I say we go as a group. We can't risk splitting up, lest the Machination has a surprise up their sleeves." Flash voiced his concern regarding splitting up.
"Well, Ratchet, Shade, and a few others should stay behind to help with the evacuation effort." Miss Martian added.
"Then Ratchet, Shade, Greyhound, Monsoon, and Roughneck will remain here to assist with evacuation efforts." Optimus said. "Does anyone want to join them?"
"I'll join you guys." Silverfish offered.
"Alright. Everyone else will search for any stragglers as well as Machination forces and Decepticons." Optimus said. Everyone nodded and went off to their respective tasks.
Ironhide, Superboy, and Cliffjumper were walking around warily amidst the burning destroyed buildings constantly looking out for any Decepticons and Machination forces lurking in potential ambush points. "Some Cons definitely have to be around here." Cliffjumper commented. Just as he said that, blaster shots rang out from one of the buildings, prompting the trio to get into a defensive position. Ironhide readied his cannons while Cliffjumper already had his tri-blasters at the ready, and Superboy cracked his knuckles. What they saw was Screamvolt in robot mode, grinning madly alongside a new type of Genomorph that looked to have rough black skin with bright orange-yellow lines that look like cracks on the body and with sharp claws and fangs.
"A new kind of Genomorph?" Superboy asked softly with wide eyes, staring at it for a moment.
"Got that right, Superboy!" Screamvolt called out. "Courtesy of the Machination's scientific division! Meet the Pyromorph!'' She then looked at the fiery Genomorph. "Go destroy." The now named Pyromorph screeched and jumped from its position, directed towards the trio. Superboy ran forward to meet the new Genomorph head-on. Now, he'd learned to think before acting in the past five years, but it was just one Genomorph, so he didn't think it'd be that big. That proved to be a mistake as when Superboy punched the Pyromorph, he screamed in pain from the heat being given off by the growling creature, giving the Pyromorph breathed fire at his chest. "You feel that, Superboy? That's your suffering festering to the surface!" Ironhide and Cliffjumper opened fire on Screamvolt who merely evaded the shots with her jets, laughing.
"You two Bots think you can actually hit me?!" She taunted as she transformed into her vehicle mode. "As for you Autobots, prepare for a new kind of Vehicon!" With that, she flew off. Seconds later, eight 2015 Hyundai Elantras drove out of the fire and quickly transformed to robot mode, weapons at the ready.
"A new type of Vehicon?!" Cliffjumper exclaimed in surprise as he and his friend shot at the new enemy drones, not knowing what they really were. Most of the Traxes dodged, but two were immediately shot to pieces. "Where did these guys even come from?!"
"You guys need some backup?!" Guy Gardner popped up with Monsoon and the two fired multiple shots at the Traxes. However, eight more silver Traxes shot at them from a rooftop, prompting them to also take cover.
Suddenly, a disc flew at the rooftop group of Traxes and shocked them all into shutdown. "Wheeljack!" Monsoon shouted happily.
"Anyone order some Shock Mines?" Wheeljack smirked, his ear pieces glowed blue when he talked. Green Arrow, Artemis, and Red arrow provided support, taking out the rooftop Traxes. When the coast was clear, Wheeljack picked up one of the offline Traxes.
"What kind of Vehicon is this?" Green Arrow asked, raising an eyebrow underneath his mask.
"This isn't a Vehicon." Wheeljack answered darkly. "This is something new."
"What?" Artemis asked, shocked to hear that. "You- You think this is a Machination robot?"
"Given the Andromedome five years ago, it's possible." Wheeljack responded. "We'll have to be careful from now on."
"Guys!" Superboy called out as he was still fighting the Pyromorph which was snarling at him, continuing to breathe fire. Suddenly, Tempest appeared and doused it with water which made it screech in pain for a few seconds before dying. "Whew! Thanks, Garth."
"No problem." Tempest smirked. In the past five years, Garth, Tula, and Ronal had been developing friendships with Aqualad's teammates and it was paying off.
In another part of the cracked burning city, Crimson Knight, Aqualad, Aquagirl, Silverfish, and Jolt were moving around slowly. The two Atlanteans were putting out whatever fires they came across. Crimson Knight checked his device. "Superboy and his group have made contact." He informed.
"Figured that out, did you?" Wreckage taunted as he quickly fired his weapons at the group. "I'm surprised you didn't hear the weapons fire."
"We need backup! Wreckage has us pinned down!" Silverfish informed over the comms.
"He's not the only one pinning you down!" From the sky, Plaguewing came down from the sky and fired missiles at the group who barely dodged them when they hit the already cracked ground and exploded.
Crankcase and Crowbar were fighting with maces that popped up from their backs against Arcee, Nightwing, and Batgirl. Robin was there as well along with Nightstalker. "We will kill you all!" Crankcase exclaimed in Cybertronian.
"We'll see about that!" Robin retorted as he threw explosive discs at the two Decepticons. This created a smokescreen allowing Arcee and Nightstalker to land direct shots on them. However, what looked to be a withered tree with no leaves, burnt bark, and bright green eyes and insides walking up to them.
"What the hell is that?" Batgirl asked, shocked at what she was seeing.
"Allow us to introduce Wickeroot. Why don't you show them what you can do?" Crowbar gestured. Wickeroot sucked in some surrounding fire and his insides turned bright orange. He then launched a fireball at the heroes. They moved out of the way of the flaming projectile.
"This has to be Poison Ivy's work, for sure." Robin correctly deduced.
Batman, Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Jazz, and Stripes were in a deeper part of the city. They had already encountered a few silver Traxes and quickly dispatched them. "So, Diana, how have you and Bruce been faring?" Black Canary smirked.
Wonder Woman had the decency to blush, but smile nonetheless. "We are doing much better than I thought. However, he still has nightmares about Bludgeon."
"That's understandable." Jazz said quietly, joining in on their conversation. "Bludgeon did kill him, after all."
Suddenly, Bludgeon sped in with his sword, poised to kill Batman a second time. This time, the Dark Knight brought out his own sword and met him head-on. They didn't say anything to each other and clashed blades, much to Wonder Woman's chagrin. She'd actually been carrying her sword with her more often since the second battle of Happy Harbor five years ago, just in case Bludgeon appeared. She couldn't help however as Hellcrest, Stormflow, and Pummel showed up in their robot modes to block them. "You see, Wayne? Just you and me. No outside interference so I can destroy you and break the spirits of your comrades once again." Bludgeon snarked.
"I won't let my guard down against you ever again." Batman responded as he kicked Bludgeon in the side, making the Metallikato Master stumble backwards a bit which gave Batman the chance to actually slash his left arm with his sword and make him bleed.
Bludgeon was indeed surprised at the Dark Knight's growth in his skills. "You've been improving these past five years." He commented.
"So you've noticed." Batman's eyes narrowed within his mask.
In the deepest part of the city, the Machination were taking younger civilians through the ground bridge to be experimented on as they were making great strides with not only the Meta-Gene, but other experiments combining other DNA as well. Dr. Desmond, Venomsting, and the Reach Scientist were supervising the movement. A wall of debris suddenly exploded. Blurr, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Bumblebee, and Zatanna came through. However, as soon as they appeared, they immediately came under fire from Reach Soldiers, silver Traxes, Dirge, Ramjet, Flamewerx, and Thunderclaw. "I'm sorry, heroes and Autobots. We'd love to stay and chat, but there's scientific achievements to unlock." The three scientists walked through the ground bridge.
"Damn it!" Kid Flash cursed as he ran around, punching Reach Soldiers and evading their laser blasts. Miss Martian levitated objects and hurled them at the silver Traxes who shot at them. Those that didn't were quickly taken down.
"Stsalb Resal!" Zantanna chanted and muliple lasers fired at other silver Traxes, bringing them down.
"A valiant effort, but you all will die now." Ramjet growled, but a blaster knocked him down. The Decepticon saw Superboy's group had included themselves in the fight. Crimson Knight had also joined up with them. "How did you lot get past our defences here?"
"Trade secret, Con." Cliffjumper smirked as he opened fire on Ramjet who quickly took to the air. "Unfortunately for you all, we have a contingency plan if any of you managed to reach this point." He pressed a button on a remote control. Multiple beeps were heard and they all realized what it is.
"BOMBS!" Guy shouted loudly as the Decepticons flew away and escaped through a ground bridge. "We have to get out of here NOW!"
"Sorry, but you lot aren't going anywhere!" A Machination soldier smirked as he fired a laser blast at them, but Crimson Knight blocked it with his blade.
"I'll hold him off! The rest of you get out of here!" Crimson Knight yelled.
"We can't leave you here! You'll get caught in the blast!" Miss Martian had tears welling up in her eyes.
"An honorable sacrifice rather than letting you all get blown sky high is worth it!" Crimson Knight retorted. "Now, go!" The heroes reluctantly moved out while Crimson Knight remained behind to deal with the Machination soldier with the heavy laser cannon. "If I do, you will join me in oblivion!" He ran forward and slashed the soldier in the chest, making him scream out in pain and bleed, but he wasn't down yet. He fired the laser cannon at the young hero's armor. Just as Crimson Knight stabbed the soldier in the right leg, the explosives went off, covering the entire city in a blast of white. Everyone else was out of the blast radius and all of them, even Batman watched in horror as when the light died down and the smoke cleared, there was nothing of Detroit City but a smoldering, smoking crater. It was as if the city was never built.
*New York City. Cybertronian Ship. 06:04 am*
Tremors from the blast in Detroit rocked Manhattan quite a bit, unearthing an ancient Cybertronian ship. however, that wasn't all. Within the deepest bowels of the ship, a large stasis chamber was cracked open, revealing a tall Cybertronian that looked a lot like Optimus Prime, but with a white and dark blue color scheme, a slightly bigger build, and two massive wings on the back folded down. Suddenly, it's eyes flashed a bright red.
Hello, everyone. I hope you all liked the second part of Battle of Detroit. Bludgeon has made his appearance again, but this time, they don't fight right away. Instead, we meet a brand-new Genomorph called the Pyromorph that has fire abilities and fire resistance. We also see the silver Traxes in action, seeing they're designed to most likely overwhelm. We see a new Machination creation, courtesy of Poison Ivy called Wickeroot who can actually absorb fire and use it to power himself up. Batman and Bludgeon finally fight again. Bludgeon noticed his opponent's skill growth.
In the end, Crimson Knight chose to sacrifice himself to ensure everyone else escaped the detonation of multiple explosive devices that left the entirety of Detroit, Michigan a smoldering husk of a city.
That wasn't the only effect of the blast, though. Tremors reached New York, affecting an ancient Cybertronian ship, accidentally reactivating a certain individual in a stasis chamber in the deepest part of said ship.
