A.N. I do not own Inuyasha or Doctor Who.
Laughing quietly as she steered the Doctor away from a confrontational and flirtatious Asgardian woman, Kagome had a little extra light in her features. "Oh my, Doctor, I do think she was about to clock you on the head and kidnap you." Her eyes roved the marketplace carefully to make sure they weren't followed.
"Well, she would have had to get through you, and I'd put my money on you any day!" the tall man declared with a wide grin. "You are, after all, the most fantastic woman I've known in a long time."
"And you've known quite a few, I bet," Kagome mumbled, thinking about Rose and Amy, and the faceless others she had thought about.
"You make me sound like an unfaithful boyfriend," the Doctor huffed, though he continued to grin. "C'mon, let's get something to drink-Nothing quite like Asgardian mead. Only a little though, don't want to wake up in another galaxy without memory of how we got there!"
Chuckling, Kagome let go of his arm. "I'll join you in a minute. There was an interesting looking stand back there. I wanted to get a necklace for Mama."
"Alright, just don't be too long, or I'll think some Asgardian Adonis has tried to kidnap you," the Doctor warned before heading into the tavern.
Amused, Kagome walked back to a little cart sporting some lovely beadwork. She looked at one necklace comprised of smooth pink stones and was about to inquire the price when she was jostled forward. Turning to lock eyes with a curly haired woman with a mischievous smile, she automatically reached out to steady her. "I'm sorry-"
However, those greenish brown eyes widened and she shoved her hand away. "You! Oh God, what are you doing here?! And the way you look now-Oh no, my Sweetie must be here! Kagome, you must go to the Doctor and get him to leave with you at once!"
Regaining her balance easily enough, Kagome frowned at her. "Excuse me, but I have no idea who you are or what you're talking about."
"River!" a chipper voice called, vaguely familiar to the priestess, before she was shoved underneath the little merchant's cart.
"Sweetie!" River greeted, kissing the tall man passionately.
Flushed, the young looking man pulled back. "Guess you have missed me."
"How could I not miss the Doctor?" River asked, tone a touch pointed, likely for the woman she had unceremoniously shoved below.
"C'mon, I know this great tavern where they serve the best mead in Asgard, and I mean, the best-" the Doctor began, grinning. "Amy wanted me to bring her a sample when I talked about it with-"
Kagome slapped River's ankle in warning.
"No! No, it's a lovely day, why be in a smoky old tavern! I know, you go down a ways and get us some fruit and I'll get the other essentials and we'll have a picnic!" the curly haired beauty exclaimed.
"Oh, alright then-make sure to get the mead!" he called even as she shoved him away.
Waving, River reached down to pull Kagome up from the ground, looking her in the eye. "That could have been a disaster! You go fetch your Doctor and get right out of here before we ruin the timeline!"
"You and the Doctor-" Kagome began, eyes wide.
"That's beside the point!" River snapped. "Now, go!" She shoved her forcefully from her, towards the tavern.
Shaken, Kagome bolted into the tavern and found the Doctor regaling a group of burly warriors with a tale of battle with an alien race.
"So, there I was, back to the wall, nothing but my sonic-" the Doctor began, tone bragging.
"Doctor!" Kagome called, running to his side. "Um, we need to go! I just remembered, I need to get home for Souta's football game!"
"Well, I do have a time machine, so I really don't think-" the Time Lord began, brow furrowed.
"Please? I'm, well, I'm homesick.. Let's go, just for now. We can always come back!" Kagome assured him, bouncing in place a bit.
"Your woman clearly wishes to hear the tale in private!" one warrior chuckled. "Go on! Mead for the Doctor and his lover!"
Cheeks pink, Kagome continued to ply the Doctor until, very embarrassed, they were aboard the TARDIS. "I'm sorry, I just need to get back to Earth for a bit."
"Are you alright?" the Doctor asked, resting his hand on her forehead. "You didn't gulp the mead while I wasn't looking, did you?"
"N-no! Just need to get home for a bit." Kagome smiled reassuringly and walked towards the washroom. Only then did she realize she'd accidentally taken the necklace without paying.
