A.N. I do not own Inuyasha or Doctor Who.

"You are getting mopey," the Doctor declared, prodding his companion in the side.

Kagome swatted his hand away with a sigh. "I am not moping." She looked anything but happy however.

"I said you're mop-ey, not mop-ing," the alien pointed out dryly. "Now, c'mon, you are being all moody and quiet and you keep staring off into space. What's going on in that head of yours?"

"It's been about a year, Doctor. I don't know what the actual date is-You've been careful to dart around in time whenever I've started to think about it. But it's been a year and I miss them. I miss them all so much." Tears threatened to touch her cheeks for a moment before she wiped her eyes furiously.

Eyes softening, the Doctor pulled her to his chest and stroked her hair. "I'm sorry. You're so strong and fantastic, that sometimes I forget that tender heart of yours."

Smiling weakly, Kagome stood on her toes and pressed her ear to his chest, listening to that strange echoing of heartbeats. "Well, I don't have a spare if mine gets broken."

Frowning, the tall man gripped her shoulders and pushed her back gently to look her in the eye. "Your one heart has more love in it for the world, the universe, than my two ever could. So it can never be broken… Your strength is your heart, no matter how soft it can be."

"You've become almost sentimental, Doctor." Kagome shook her head and pecked his cheek before turning on her heel and walking from the control room.

Eyes on her retreating form, the Doctor touched his cheek, his expression unreadable.
