A.N. This has gone on longer than I ever thought it would, but it's certainly fun to write! I do not own anything. Japanese shall be in italics.

"You are curious. Completely human and yet… Well, I won't keep prodding. But you certainly have me amazed." Toshiko eyed the other Japanese woman, wanting to learn everything about her.

Meeting the older woman's eyes, Kagome smiled. "I find that life is always full of mysteries. We will never solve all of them. But then, living is hardly living if we have no more questions."

"What are you two gabbing about? It's rude, you know, carrying on in a foreign language… Have you been talking about something juicy?" Owen asked, his eyes lingering on Kagome with more than a little interest.

"Are all of the men here like this? Aside from Ianto. He has manners," Kagome commented, noting the tint of pink on Toshiko's cheeks as she quickly turned away.

"I have manners. I could show them to you, over dinner," Owen offered, leaning on the counter with his eyes roving over her.

"No." Kagome nodded politely and walked into the kitchen, her own face turning red when she came upon Jack and Ianto in a rather intense lip lock. She moved to step back but she caught the Captain's eyes and heat bloomed within her, a tingle running down her spine.

When Ianto twisted them around and opened his eyes to see Kagome there, he pushed Jack away, breathless. "Ah, Ms. Higurashi, did you want more tea?"

Deciding to ignore what she had seen, Kagome shook her head. "I want to go. Still sightseeing." She smiled calmly, not wanting to make the moment more awkward.

"Really? You aren't even going to consider my job offer?" Jack asked, not missing a beat. "I think you could be a real asset here. Plus, if you stay, you have a way better chance at seeing the Doctor again."
