A.N. I do not own Inuyasha or Doctor Who. Also, if interested, I updated my profile with some info, especially about vintage work. If you are stumbling across me as a writer for the first time, know that there are definitely some problematic elements in the older stuff and probably some in the new stuff too. Trying to be better.

The desert finally cooled at night and Kagome stared out at the darkness with a little loneliness. Where are you, Doctor? I wonder who you're with, when… Are you falling in love with your wife, right now? She shook off the melancholy to the best of her ability. Looking at an eternity, fairly certain she would be alone, was staggering.

Just outside the door, she sensed someone. Her hand rested on the knife she carried in her pocket, and she moved closer to the door.

A knock sounded, the sound almost cheery. "Kagome, are you in there? The man at the desk thought I was a little daft, but he told me you were here!"

Surprised, Kagome let her grip of the blade go and opened the door. "Donna? What brings you here?"

Coming right in, Donna held up a bottle of wine and a container of food. "Sorry for the time, but I had such fun today. This trip has been an experience, but today, with you, I finally just felt like it was a good holiday. You said where you were staying and I came with wine and food."

Blinking, not having expected to see the other woman again given she was planning to fly out the next day, Kagome eyed her in surprise. "Well, thank you. I haven't eaten now that I think about it."

"Perfect." Grinning, the redhead put the food on her little table and took some cups and plastic ware from her bag. "I got red to go with lamb kebab."

Shock fading, she went to the counter and grabbed some napkins. "Well, that's nice of you. Company is welcome."

"Exactly, glad you agree! I was going to wait until after you had eaten and had a glass, but I've never been good at tact. You said you were leaving tomorrow-I want to come with you. I can pay my own way," Donna assured her, uncorking the wine and pouring them each a glass.

"I leave tomorrow though and I'm not even staying on the continent-" Kagome began, taking the cup when it was pressed to her hand.

Donna smiled and sipped her drink before separating their food. "Yes, yes, I know and this is completely random. I just… I don't know, we clicked. Let me come with you. We can be travelling companions!"

The word stopped her in her tracks. She had used it hours before, but in the moment, it just hit. Is this why? Gulping the drink, she smiled a little weakly and took the food. "Yes. You can be my companion."
