Clouds clear away from a darkened sky, a black starless void without so much as a white hue consuming her vision. Kyoka blinks but keeps her head tilted back, welcoming the slightly blinding effect of pure nothing to stare at. Her focus is on listening right now anyways. She has her ear jacks plugged into an I Pod, playing songs from her most recent Spotify playlist. It drowns out the crunch of dried leaves when Bakugo brushes past the class camping site; Kirishima is the only one who notices, watching his friend venture off into the forest with a worried expression on his face. Everybody else is relaxing after a long hard day of training their quirks to get stronger. Some of which are already asleep, snuggled within sleeping bags.
Yaoyorozu rests beside Kyoka, sparing a glance up from her novel. She pauses her reading, bookmarking the page that she's on. "Do you mind if I listen along?", the girl gestures for her friend to lend the I Pod by using her quirk to create a custom pair of headphones. Kyoka shrugs before passing the device over to share. The twin set of ponytailed girls tune out the sounds of wildlife in favor of what song starts playing next. It hits heavier than solid metal. Yaoyorozu's eyebrows nearly jump off her face the way that they rise so high. The lyrics to ChuChu Lovely by Maximum The Hormone are … 'graphic' … to say the least.
The usually sheltered girl shyly turns her head away to hide her blush. Kyoka doesn't notice. Her gaze is lifted again, back towards the starless sky. What's odd though, is that the clouds appear to be returning. They waft faster than the breeze blows. They're also darker. Kyoka sits up, smelling barbeque despite dinner having been some sort of stew. The forest that Bakugo went into is starting to smoke. She stops the music on her I Pod, shaking Yaoyorozu a bit by the shoulder. "Do you think that dumbass started a fire with his quirk?", she gestures with a nod of her head to get the other girl to have a look.
Kirishima startles at this, overhearing them murmur to one another. "No… He hasn't been training like that", the redhead cringes with embarrassment but admits to the reason how he knows that, "I followed him one night and saw that he's been hanging around with that kid from the Wild Wild Pussycats" He stands to search for his friend, heading in that direction. "It must be something else…"
By now, the three are causing such a commotion that the other students of Class 1-A begin rising. "Should we alert Aizawa-Sensei?", Uraraka groggily wipes the sleep from her eyes with the sleeve of her pajama covered arm. Her usual bob of brunette hair is furrowed and messy much like Ashido's who immediately shuts down the suggestion to get their teacher.
"It's probably nothing", the pinkette waves away everybody's concern. She flops back down into the cushioned mess of blankets she crafted beneath her. "Let's just go back to sleep and forget we ever even saw anything", her eyes are already mid way closed before something bright snaps them back open.
A blue blaze overtakes the treeline. It really is a fire. An uncontrollable one at that. "Nothing, huh?" Todoroki's deadpan would be funny if the flames weren't so hot that the whole class recoils.
"Bakugo and that Kota kid are in there?!", Sero blanches when he thinks about getting caught up in such an inferno. He shoots a look back at his peers, seeing equally horrified facial expressions.
Kirishima covers himself in a hardened state of stone via his quirk, stepping up. "I'll be able to withstand the heat enough to find him", the redhead points for everybody else to go the other way, "The rest of you find Aizawa and the other teachers" He surprises himself by taking charge so readily.
What's as equally shocking to the boy is when a few others join him. "I can cool things off for you", Todoroki generates a frosty aura to demonstrate his usefulness in case Kirishima wants to argue. Kaminari comes along too, claiming to be close enough to Bakugo that he has to.
"The more the merrier", Kirishima grins rather than making any attempts to turn down their offer to tag along. It might seem like a bad idea and even worse of a decision to actually do so, but the trio run right into the fire.
"Are they crazy?!", Hagakure criticizes their choice to put themselves in danger but doesn't wait around trying to convince them otherwise. The class is already moving, making haste to rendezvous with their teachers.
"Going somewhere?", though that'll prove hard to do when there's a set of villains blocking their path. A scaled replica of Stain drops down in front of the group, unsheathing a mesh of swords. Along with him is an even scarier fiend bound by leather straps.
"It's happening again…", Ojiro's mouth goes so dry that he can't find it in his voice to scream when seeing that the events of the USJ attack are about to repeat themselves.
"Not if I can help it!", but Kyoka is quick to jump into action. She plugs her jacks into the ground and amplifies the soundwaves of the earth to cause a slight quake. This manages to throw the villains off balance long enough for Yaoyorozu to use her quirk as well.
Yaoyorozu tosses a canister of tear gas in between her classmates and the deadly duo opposing them. It explodes into a cloud of smoke, concealing the space with thick fog. "Everybody split off! They can't chase us all!", she shouts the first thought that comes to her mind to counter the criminals.
"No!", the lizard version of Stain tries stopping them by blindly charging through the tear gas. He's only able to grab ahold of Ojiro. The two grapple with one another, the hero student's tail trumping the tailless reptile in combat.
As for the leather bound villain who's been drooling out of his exposed mouth, he fairs far more as dangerous. His teeth extend into sharp spires functioning as legs and pincers. Shoji gets cut by an elongated fang before Tokoyami swoops in with Dark Shadow to save him.
Though they feel conflicted about leaving behind their friends, the rest of the class manage to escape into the shrubbery of the wilderness. Ojiro blocks and parries against the Stain fanboy's specially crafted excuse for a sword, fighting bare handed without a weapon of his own. Tokoyami wants to help him like he rescued Shoji but finds his quirk more difficult to control when it's night.
"Revelry in the dark", he repeats a mantra in an effort to keep Dark Shadow under control. It doesn't do any good. The tooth villain strikes again. Tokoyami is forced to unleash his quirk and defend himself.
Ojiro tries to sweep his opponent's legs out with his tail. The lizard is too agile though, evading the lower attack with a flying swing of his sword. The two twist to avoid getting dealt damage. Karate and self defense lessons lead the blonde to stay on his guard rather than lean into fighting full force. It becomes a tad redundant but he stays alive at least.
Tokoyami on the other hand, lets loose. Shadows blur with teeth, shattering enamel and tree bark as their fight moves into the forest. Dirt clouds conceal most of their match as the earth becomes uprooted. Shoji shouts for his classmate but his screams go unheard. All he can do is follow along and helplessly watch.
Left in the wake of the villains attacking, is an empty campsite.
Aizawa already knew something was wrong when he saw the dark cloud formations overhead. When a purple hue of smoke carried its way through the trees though, that's when he absolutely had to act upon that suspicion. Vlad toppled over along with the Pussycats, effectively rendered unconsciousness by the mustard gas. Aizawa only managed to stay awake by muffling his mouth with his capture cloth. The makeshift mask helps him navigate through the mist until he finds members of Class 1-B in a similar predicament. The sneak attack seems to have worked on a majority of the campsite.
"Eraserhead, right? I'm supposed to deal with you", Aizawa spins around with his quirk flaring his eyes red to meet whoever he hears behind him. A collection of men in bodysuits greet the underground hero. He realizes as the stampede topples over him that it's an extreme version of the attack at the USJ. When fighting a larger group, he's at a disadvantage.
A kick and a punch somehow manages to do the trick to dissolve them into puddles of gray goop. But like a Hydra, three more take the place of any fallen foes. They begin grabbing at the cloth around his lower face, trying to pry it away so that he'll succumb to the mustard gas surrounding them. It's hard enough fighting hand to hand without his trusty weapon as an aid, but for it to become an exploitable weakness… It's a losing battle. And he loses. Aizawa goes down, overcome by numbers and circumstances.
"Stay away from our teacher!", Kyoka's cry catches the armada's attention before they can finish the underground hero off. She and Yaoyorozu arrive wearing gas masks to filter out the smog. In each of their hands are weapons, a katana and a metallic bow staff. A series of slashes and whacks creates a swampy terrain of melted men.
"Sensei…", Yaoyorozu kneels down beside Aizawa to create a gas mask of his own. She focuses on defending the downed man while Kyoka wards off the frontal assault of villains. It's a maneuver that manages to drive them back gradually.
Eventually, the clones and replicants of those clones dwindle in numbers before running away. It's an exhausting conclusion that makes them both drop their weapons and breath heavy sighs of relief. Fortunately, Aizawa stirs with a groan before joining them. "Thank you for the rescue", he mumbles more than says.
"We're just glad you're okay", Yaoyorozu flits her gaze back and forth to see if anyone else is within their vicinity. When she's sure that they're alone, she tries pushing him to lay back down. "You should rest and recuperate though", her concern carries over to Kyoka who agrees with a nod.
But Aizawa brushes them off, forcing himself to get back up on his feet. "If the gas isn't fatal then we can get Vlad and the others up", he begins walking in the direction of his fellow teachers and heroes despite having a slight limp.
"R- Right", the girls hesitate only momentarily before following along.
"Jeez, this is pretty hot..", Kaminari wipes sweat from his forehead as he follows Kirishima and Todoroki through the burning forest. The frosty spray of Todoroki's ice is starting to lose effectiveness the deeper that they go.
"Bakubro!", Kirishima cups his hands around his mouth to enhance his shout, "Where are you?!" He grimaces when a tree loses its rooting and topples over with a hefty crash. The fire is starting to take over and grow even stronger.
Todoroki does his best to extinguish some of the flames, spreading sheets of ice every which way. He can't go all out though considering a glacier so close to his friends would do more harm than good to them. "Maybe we need to cut our losses and fall back", he regretfully admits that they're in way over their heads.
But before any of the other boys can protest, somebody agrees with him. "Yes", a villain in a top hot appears behind them to place his hands on each of Kirishima and Kaminari's shoulders, "Cut your losses" They vanish within a flash of light before becoming marbles.
Todoroki pivots on his heel, avoiding getting too close to the villain so that he doesn't share their fate. He's about to say something, "Wha–"
But it turns out the marble making man isn't alone. "Leave him to me", a villain covered in burns calls dibs as he steps through the bright blue flames surrounding him. It occurs to Todoroki that this guy is likely the same one who caused the forest fire.
"Very well", the gentlemanly criminal tips his hat before leaving them to their vices.
Todoroki is inclined to pursue for the sake of saving his friends, but he has bigger fish to fry. Especially when said fish fries back. Flames hotter than his father's surround him, creating a ring. He coughs from the amount of fumes that the fire generates. "Why are you targeting me specifically?", his only hope is to stall for time while trying to figure out a countermeasure.
The pyromaniac responds with a feral grin, "Wouldn't you like to know?"
Bakugo stands at the foot of the cave's mouth, guarding that brat from the Pussy Power Pack or whatever by outstretching one hand, while popping explosions from the other to intimidate the large muscular man in front of him. "You have one chance to fuck off before I blow out your back, bitch!" The snarled choice of words he uses could have been better but it gets his point across. Or so he thinks until the giant brute bastard stomps towards him. "I'm warning you, fucker!"
"You seem fun", the muscular man flexes an arm before forming a fist, "I think I'll toy with you for awhile…"
"You asked for it", Bakugo secretes as much fuel into his palm as he can to generate a massive explosion directly into the guy's face.
When the smoke clears and an uncharred grin is on the other side, the abrasive blonde backs up a little. The muscular villain is covered in muscle fibers, bulking him up even more. "Fuck..", he can tell this is going to be a hell of a fight. "Run along, squirt" He spent tons of time arguing with the kid over why proving one's quirk as the superior firepower is important but he can't risk the runt getting hurt in an actual demonstration of force.
Kota shakes his head, "I'm not gonna let you get killed by this guy like my parents!", he protests against running away. Bakugo has to admit he's fond of the little bastard proving not to be a coward.
But… "This guy killed your mom and dad?", he has to make sure the villain he's about to fight is one and the same. When Kota gives a tentative nod in response, Bakugo sneers. "Fine.. Sit back and enjoy the fireworks show", he simultaneously blows the kid to safety while propelling himself forward with controlled bursts.
"That's the spirit!", macho motherfucker meets the frontal assault like a jackass. Bakugo pulls an aerial maneuver, using more controlled bursts to fly over the villain's brainless skull and land behind him where he can deliver a blast into the bastard's back. He did promise that he'd blow it out. Except, the explosion doesn't do shit. "That all you got?", the villain backhands Bakugo.
Bakugo feels a tooth coming loose from where his jaw was bashed. "Asshole..", he can already expect his hag of a mother to lose her shit over the dental work he'll need done. Just for making him have to deal with that, he adds some extra boom to his next attack.
Again, it does nothing. Those damn muscle fibers are blocking every blast. Bakugo controls the flow of the fight well enough to avoid getting fucked up himself but it won't do any good if he can't do anything in return. Dodging isn't going to get him anywhere. He needs more firepower. "DIE!", Bakugo combines both blasts from his hands to emit a bigger detonation.
The villain passes through the flow of flames, barreling into Bakugo. "The only ones who are gonna die are you and that kid", he promises that the fight is just getting started. Which gets Bakugo back on his feet and ready for more.
"Bring it, you sonova bitch!" Bakugo beckons the brute to attack.
