Chapter Sixteen

The Truth Revealed

"You're him! You caused those attacks on those people!" Angela cried.

Diablo glared.

"Yes." he replied, "Yes I am him."

Angela's jaw dropped and she blinked several times.

"The Straight Truths Baptist Church? The Neo Nazi's…." she stammered "You did all those things to them?!"

Diablo nodded.

"Indeed, I did, but not alone, I have those who follow me and assist me in my work."

"Work?!" Angela shrieked "Work? Hurting people?"

"Not just people." Diablo answered, his voice low and calm, "Only those who have sinned!"

"But why?" Angela asked, her voice getting higher and shriller as she spoke.

"Because they committed sins!" Diablo sighed, rolling his eyes as he had to explain his reasons just like he did with his siter and brother and the Mutopians before he fled Chicago.

"All those I attacked with my Disciples, all of them have committed sins, not just crime, but also with their foul words, bullying others or spreading hate!"

"Disciples?" Angela breathed "You named your followers after the ones who followed Jesus in the Bible?"

Diablo nodded.

"I am Diablo, and they are my Disciples." The raven smirked "Rolls off the tongue nicely hmm?"

Angela said nothing.

"Anyway." Diablo continued, drumming his talons on the rock his sat on.

"After I fled Chicago, I decided to punish those who deserve it, because of this whole freedom of speech bullshit, people think they can say what they want, which in a way is true, you must be allowed to speak your mind, but there are those who speak cruelly, and behave badly, like The Straight Truths Church, I tortured their leader, then his family, then I attacked the church and burnt it to the ground! Because of me and my Disciples, the Cult has disbanded, and I intend to do the same to other evil hateful cults!"

Angela listened silently.

"And not just hate cults, but hateful families, ones the law has failed to stop! If justice can't be done by the pathetic humans, then Myself and my Disciples will!" The Raven continued "And because according to the government and because I am not human, I do not exist!"

The smirk got wider on the Raven's beak and Angela felt rather trembly.

There was something about the Raven before her, she was terrified of him, yet something inside her said that she shouldn't be afraid as he had not attempted to hurt her, but instead seemed keen to speak to her, especially after he had heard how she and him had a bit in common.

After what the news reports had said about the attacks and now, she was facing the very one responsible, she had every reason to be afraid, yet since he hadn't tried to hurt her, and he said he only attacked those who sinned, which didn't include her, that other side of her wasn't as afraid.

"So that is what I do, and what my followers do." Diablo ended bring Angela back to earth.

"Who are they?" Angela asked, "Where did you find them?"

"That I should tell you another time." Diablo replied.

"Okay." Angela said slowly.

Diablo looked at the human girl before him.

"I see this was a lot for you to take in." he said.

Angela nodded.

"I'm still trying to tell myself, what am I seeing before me is real." She said, "Is this all a dream?"

"I used to tell myself that all the time when I first met my sister again after so long." Diablo admitted "I couldn't believe it was her after seeing her alive, and as a mutant…"

Angela looked at Diablo and was about to speak again when her phone rang making her jump.

Diablo frowned and Angela picked up her phone and answered it.

"Hello, Mum?"

Diablo sat quietly and watched as Angela spoke into her mobile.

"Huh? Oh right, yes, I did see it, I was sent a link! What? Mum, please, I'm alright…what? Now?"

Angela sighed.

"But mum…I… I… Oh alright, I'll come home, I will, I'll come home, I'm on the next bus!" she lowered her phone as she hung up and turned to Diablo.

"It would seem your antics have sent everyone in a panic!" she said, "Mum wants me to come home right now."

"Does she now?" Diablo asked cocking his head on one side.

"Yes!" Angela snapped "She wants me home right away, even though I said I wanted the day to myself here!" she started to gather her belongings and looked towards the entrance of the cave, luckily it had stopped raining.

As she picked up her bag, Angela turned to Diablo.

"Anyway." She said in as casual a voice she could muster "It was nice to meet you…Diablo."

Diablo nodded to her.

"Same to you, Angela." He said, "But before you go, will there be a chance we will meet again?"

"I don't know!" Angela replied "Right now I don't know what to think! I left the house this morning thinking it would be a normal day and then I run into you!"

Diablo frowned and felt rather taken aback by Angela's comment.

"At least allow me to see you again where we can maybe have a conversation about our pasts and our lost siblings?" Diablo asked, "I will meet you wherever you wish?"

Angela turned back to the Raven.

"You want to see me again?" she asked.

Diablo nodded.

"We have something in common Angela." He said, "It was rather refreshing to find someone who shares the same pain or rather, history."

Angela looked down.

Her mind was all over the place right now, almost like it was doing somersaults with all that had taken place in the last hour.

"Angie." She thought to herself "This is madness, you've been having a conversation with a mutant Raven, and he has requested to see you again, you've tried to convince yourself this is no dream, if you want to confirm this is no dream, maybe you should agree to meet him again."

Diablo watched Angela wondering what she was thinking.

He continued to drum his sharp talons on the rocks and scratched the ground with his toe talons.

He wanted to ask, but he remained quiet and before long, his patience paid off as Angela looked up at him and spoke.

"Very well." She said, "Let's meet again."

A smile curled on Diablo's beak.

"Where and When?" he asked.

"At the Baseball field near my home." Angela replied holding up her phone to show the Raven a map of said location.

"Meet me there at midnight tomorrow, then we can talk some more."

Diablo took a good look at the map then looked at Angela.

"Very well." He said, "I shall meet you there."

Angela nodded back at him then turned towards the entrance of the cave and left.

Diablo walked to the cave entrance and watched her climb out onto the rocks and towards the other side of the lake before running away into the woods and out of sight.

He stood there for a long time watching where Angela had vanished.

"Never in a million years." He thought "Would I find someone who shares my sorrow over losing a sibling, even though the circumstances were different, we share the same grief."

He stood back and rested in the cave hoping to fly back to the hideout he shared with his Disciples.

So far, he had gotten no call from them via his Walkie Talkie, so he guessed the other Disciples were sleeping and had not noticed he was missing, but he knew he had to return soon as he knew maybe one of them would wake and notice he wasn't there.

Walking to the entrance the Raven decided to check the coast was clear before flying away and back to the safehouse.

As he checked, he thought back to Angela, and he hoped that she would be waiting at the Baseball field.

He didn't know whether to tell his Disciples about what happened, but if he did, he hoped they would not give him a hard time as he had risked exposing himself.

"I'll say nothing for now." He thought "Just to be safe, after I met Angela tomorrow, that is if she does decide to meet, I shall go on from there."

So, after Angela has learnt Diablo is behind the attacks, she is terrified, but agrees to meet him again due to their similar backgrounds and feelings.

Will Angela meet Diablo at the Baseball field?

Well keep checking in to find out.
