The icy tundra of Atlas shouldn't be a new or unfamiliar sight to Weiss, but the entire atmosphere of this place simply felt…different. Everywhere she looked, even when seeing the giant fortress city in the distance. This didn't feel like home to her, this felt like a shallow pale, almost shady reflection of her home.
Occasionally they came across a banner depicting her alternate self, proclaiming the greatness of Atlas while standing there as if she where a dictator, which Weiss was almost certain she was to this world.
"You alright Weiss?" she heard Blake ask.
No doubt the Faunus could sense her uneasiness at being in this place "yeah….it's just…being here…it feels like I'm in a nightmare and bound to wake up anytime soon but instead we're stuck here in this place for what feels like eternity."
Blake nodded in agreement "yeah we've been staying on the outskirts of this place for too long. Going towards that city is too risky, for all we know the Collective has eyes everywhere."
The two kept on walking in silence. There was really not much where they could go, they were literally strangers in a strange land. A rumbling was suddenly felt causing the pair to come to a stop. A swirling mass suddenly opening right before their eyes.
"Look Weiss maybe it's a way home…" Blake said enthusiastically, but Weiss grabbed her hand and pulled her close, a glyph appearing beneath their feet and launching them into the air, upon which they landed on a nearby icy hill and Weiss pulled Blake down so the slope hid them as they watched the scene down below unfold.
The figure of a young woman appeared out of the portal. Long black hair and a visual scar on her face, her pupils having golden irises. She was dressed in a skintight black combat suit, a knife made of bones sheathed to her belt. She observed the cold desolate landscape around her before walking off, right towards the city.
Blake and Weiss looked from the safety of the icy hill they were hiding behind. Blake was the first speak up.
"That's that girl that Yang fought! Who is she and what is she doing here?" she asked Weiss, who looked paler than usual, almost frightened.
"This is bad," she mumbled as she looked at Blake "that's Yoru, Thanos's second daughter and she's not a fan of me…" Weiss looked over the slope to see Yoru walk off towards the city in the distance.
"We need to get out of here right now before…"
Weiss was silenced as she heard the sound of steel clanging and in an almost slow motion fashion she and Blake turned their heads to see right in front of them a group of masked thugs standing right there, armed and ready.
One held a flag, that even in another world seemed all too familiar to Blake.
"The White Fang…" she muttered
The armed thugs moved forward, the largest in the front smiling from behind his mask "well well well…if it isn't the ice queen herself, and the High Leader's lost flame! This is a good day boys!"
The other masked men behind him shouted triumphantly as Weiss and Blake exchanged worried and uncertain glances at each other.
In the Prison Realm
Father and daughter had walked this dark street for what felt like ages. There seemed to be no end to it, there was a faint light in the distance but the closer they got, the farther away it became. Jaune had to continually remind himself that this was a prison realm and as such it was meant to be a place to imprison people. The buildings to the side where all empty and gave off creepy vibes like they where stuck in a maze.
Jaune was now on constant alert mode, first off, Shredder could be lurking around any corner, as could any other kind of threat that Gojo had imprisoned here. And he still had so many questions for Kara, was curious about their future and all that had occurred.
Suddenly Kara stopped and grabbed her dagger.
"Kara what's wrong?"
"We're being watched…" she responded, keeping her eyes forward.
Jaune grabbed his sword and shield and stood prepared and alert for anything that might come out of the shadows and jump them. He could hear it now too, small footsteps coming right near them, a soft small growling noise.
They stood their for what felt like minutes when it couldn't be more then a few seconds before a figure made itself clear, appearing out of the alleyways and it was something Jaune hadn't expected.
It looked like a wolf. Completely slick black with piercing green eyes as it appeared out of the shadow of the alleyway. It didn't bare it fangs but it looked at them with a mixture of curiosity and defensiveness.
"A wolf…" Jaune mumbled.
"Don't let your guard down dad, we don't know what it could be, especially in this place."
The canine's ears perked up as they spoke.
"Oh you can both talk" it spoke.
Jaune and Kara's jaw metaphorically dropped to the floor in an almost comical fashion and they looked at each other and wondering if they were hearing things.
"Did…did that wolf just talk?" Jaune asked rhetorically.
The wolf raised his eyebrow nonchalantly "uh duh of course I did. Also I'm standing right here and I can hear everything you're saying."
"Right, right sorry we just never met a wolf who can talk and….uhm…wait why am I explaining this?" Jaune wondered to himself.
"Dad calm down," Kara reassured as she put away her dagger back on her belt and looked at the wolf "why can you talk? How is this possible?" she asked rhetorically and in a dramatic fashion.
Jaune smiled to himself. Yup she was absolutely his daughter.
"I thought all wolves anywhere could talk, strange to hear that's not the case. Then again I don't encounter many people here, especially humans" the wolf spoke.
Jaune disarmed himself, feeling an odd comfort that this talking wolf wasn't threatening as much as he was just curious just like they were."
"Excuse me uhm Mr. Wolf, but could you please explain where we are and perhaps how you can talk?"
The wolf switched his attention between the two of them, curiously observing them before speaking.
"Very well then, you seem like pleasant folk and it's nice having company again. My name is Alyos, I'm sort of what you can call a Guardian Wolf, we sort of guard this place and the people held here, or at least we used too…until…"
The canine looked down to the ground, leaving Jaune and Kara slightly confused.
"Until what?" Kara asked.
Alyos's ears suddenly perked up and he yelled "Come with me quickly!" he said as he turned heel and ran into the alleyway "don't stand there quickly hide!" he yelled again. Instinctively Kara and Jaune ran after him into the shadowy alleyway. Just as they did they saw a bright flashing light from the sky appear over the streets, a vehicle in the air hovering, scouring the streets, looking for something.
Or someone…
The three remained deathly silent as they waited for the light to pass over the streets and away, waiting until the sound of the flying vehicle was out of range. All three caught their breath for a brief moment before Jaune asked.
"What was that?"
Alyos's green eyes where slightly fearful and he looked down like a puppy that had broken something "there where rumors going around of new people suddenly manifesting here in this place. So when I heard it I went to seek those out before she would find you…"
"What are and who are you talking about…" Kara demanded to know.
"A few years ago, I think. A new prisoner appeared here in this place. Me and my fellow Guardians followed protocol as per usual expecting nothing of it. But she enthralled every other prisoner here, and in no time she had taken everything over here and all my fellow Guardians where captured, I alone escaped from her. And I've been on the run ever since."
The canine let out a single tear which it wiped away with its paw, an expression of sadness now on his face. Jaune instinctively reached out and petted him on the head, which Alyos seemed to appreciate.
"Who is she?" Jaune asked, with Kara listening closely behind.
"We call her…" a moment of hesitation before speaking further Alyos said "we call her the Control Devil…"
