Chapter 28

On the field with stairs and weird shapes floating in the background stood Gongenzaka with his red bandanna over his eyes concentrating hard.

"The man Gongenzaka won't be deceived by this trick!" Gongenzaka said and then focused on the stairs making his opponent reveal themselves and then declared a direct attack with Susanowo getting him the win.

"He solved his tricky duel of camouflage! In the first match of the second round, Gongenzaka Dojo's Noboru Gongenzaka has defeated Surprise School's Tanegashima Yuzo!" Nico said as the crowd cheered about the victory.

"He did it." Ayu said, shocked.

"Yuzu-niichan is next." Tatsuya said and looked at Yuzu with worry followed by Futoshi and Ayu.

"Next is the second match! Here comes the competitors! You Show School's Hiiragi Yuzu!" Nico said as Yuzu began to take the field with the people behind her wishing her good luck with some marriage proposals thrown out but she ignored those but she felt a shiver run down her spine and sweat-dropped as she could imagine the fire around her father grow with him ready to commit murder only to be held back by Yuya, Tatsuya, Futoshi, and Ayu and soon to be joined by Gongenzaka who came up to sit with them.

"And now her opponent from Endymion Duel School, Resha Damya '' Nico said, causing silent whispers to fill the stadium as Resha took the field in her black dress with the veil still covering her face. She looked up allowing Yuzu to see the bottom part of her face but when she smiled Yuzu took a physical step back as sweat fell from her face.

"She is smiling but I'm getting the shivers and not the good kind…" Futoshi said, shaking in his seat with Ayu and Tatsuya agreeing.

"Yuzu…" Yuya said in worry while her father was giving words of encouragement but his unease was clear to see. On the other side of the stadium Masumi and Hokuto glared at Resha with pure anger for Yaiba who was still in a coma in the hospital. In their hearts they wished it was them but Masumi lost her duel and Hokuto had someone else as an opponent so they could only wish for Yuzu to get justice for Yaiba.

"The two people are squaring off, so it's time to choose the field spell! Action field on! The field spell bamboo battleground activates" Nico said as he activated the field spell but for a quick second Yuzu saw Resha's duel disk flash and then she blinked but nothing changed.

"I don't accept your method of dueling. That was no duel." Yuzu said, causing Resha to look up some more from under her veil but Yuzu still couldn't see her eyes.

"The duelists meet at the battle field" Resha said shocking Yuzu for a quick second.

"Along with their monsters, they'll kick the ground and fly through the sky to move around the field!" Yuzu said getting her wits back very quickly.

"Witness dueling's greatest evolution!" Resha said but her smile turned sinister but no one saw it as Nico officially started the duel causing the action cards to fly around across the field.

"Duel!" Both girls said as they drew their five cards.

"I'll go first if you don't mind." Resha said looking at her cards then smiling at Yuzu. Swallowing her nerves she nodded at Resha and then began to try and find some action cards with her peripheral vision.

"Then I'll start with Pot of Greed, and now I can draw two new cards." she said, drawing two cards from her deck. She added the two cards to her hand and then took one card from her hand.

"I activate the field spell Shaddoll Theater." She said placing the card in her field zone which shocked Yuzu.

"Wait, you can activate field spells?!" She asked as the bamboo forest changed to a rundown theater with some of the chairs broken and some missing while the stage was covered by a maroon curtain that had burns and holes in it. Yuzu found herself in an upstairs balcony while Resha was in the center stage. Yuzu looked behind herself when she heard noises and held back a scream when she saw dolls in the chairs behind her moving. However it was the worn out faces on the dolls that scared her. She looked behind her when she heard chuckling on the stage from her opponent.

"I suppose I can. I set three cards face down and set one card and end my turn. It's your turn taghiat saghir." Resha said as four cards appeared before her. Yuzu looked confused at what Resha said but shook her head getting ready to start her turn.

"My turn… Draw! From my hand I activate Ostinato! If I don't have any monsters on my field I can Fusion summon one "Melodious"' Monster from my extra deck using two monsters from my hand or deck. So from my Deck I fuse Elegy the Melodious Diva and Mozarta the Melodious Mastera!" Yuzu said, activating her spell card, and then taking two cards from her deck and placing them on the field. Both her monsters sang as they took the field and then disappeared into a vortex of purple and yellow light.

"Angel's song! Supreme genius! With the guidance of the baton, gather your power! Fusion Summon! Now come here to the stage! Sing the song of victory! Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir!" Yuzu said as her monster took the field.

"I activate my face down Shaddoll Manor! All monsters that are special summoned from the extra deck cannot attack the turn they are summoned." Resha said activating one of her face downs caused Yuzu to gasp in shock from what she just heard.

"I summon Canon the Melodious diva! Next I attack." Yuzu said after summoning Canon. He watched as her monster attacked the face down. The blast blew the veil Resha was wearing off, giving Yuzu the chance to See her face. When she looked at her Yuzu stopped herself from stepping back since her eyes were black with only her white pupils shown.

"I activate Reeshaddoll Wendi's flip effect. I can special summon one monster from my deck in face-down position." Resha said as she drew a card from her deck and placed it on her duel disk in face-down defense position.

"I set one card face down and end my turn and since my turn is over the other effect of Ostinato activates. I destroy Bloom Diva and the monsters used to summon her take the field." Yuzu said bloom Diva disappeared and the two monsters she used to summon them took the field.

"My turn. I flip Shaddoll Falco. Next, because of its flip effect I can call back Reeshaddoll Wendi. Now I summon Neshaddolll Genius." Yuzu watched as Resha summoned another monster.

"I activate Polymerization and fuse Neshaddolll Genius and Shaddoll Falco!" She said and Yuzu saw as both monsters turned into a purple and black light right behind Resha. Yuzu grabbed the railing when she felt herself almost get drawn into the vortex.

"Doll of calamity descend upon this stage and let your strings guide these lost souls! Fusion Summon! Now appear upon this stage with your strings to reveal the truth! El Shaddoll Shekhinaga!" Resha said and the curtain behind her was blown open to reveal the monster Resha had just summoned.

"Battle! El Shaddoll Shekhinaga attack Elegy!" Resha said and Yuzu saw the monster use it's spider legs to climb the wall to get to her monster that had terror on face. Yuzu looked around and saw an action card and jumped off the railing just avoiding El Shaddoll Shekhinaga's spider leg that almost hit her and before she hit the floor Canon grabbed her and took her to the action card.

"I activate Shaddoll Tomb! Both of us are only allowed to use spell and trap cards from the deck. Also if either of us gets a spell or trap card not from the deck we could discard them and gain 1000 life points." Resha said interrupting Yuzu and in horror Yuzu could only watch as El Shaddoll Shekhinaga successfully destroyed Elegy. The blast blew Yuzu into the chairs a little farther away from where she grabbed the action card. Yuzu struggled to get up and when she looked at Resha, she was just staring blankly at her.

"I end my turn" Resha said and her monster appeared right behind her staring down at Yuzu.

"Are you going to give up?" Resha asked as Yuzu finally stood up.

"No! I'll show you a real duel with smiles!" Yuzu said but Resha wasn't impressed.

Yuzu LP: 3700 Hand: 4

"My turn…Draw!" Yuzu said as she drew a card from her deck. When she looked at her card she smiled. Resha looked at the girl in front of her with disinterested eyes but knew she was about to do something so she walked over to her left slowly.

"I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 0 Piano The Melodious Diva and the Scale 10 Da Capo the Melodious Mastera!" Yuzu said Revealing both cards and then setting them on her duel disk and the word pendulum flashed across her duel disk. Resha watched as two monsters appeared in pillars of light and then a crazed smile appeared on her face making Piano whimper in her pillar of light.

"I activate Shaddoll Prison! If my opponent is about to special summon a monster I can negate the summons and the method used for the summoning can no longer be used for the rest of the duel!" Resha said, revealing her final face-down. Yuzu watched in horror as chains appeared around Piano and Da Capo stopping her summons. She looked at the action card in her hand and then confusion came on her face but she shook her head and grabbed the action card and the one next to it.

"I summon Opera the Melodious Diva! However since she was normal summoned she can't attack next, I activate the effect of Shaddoll Tomb by discarding the action card in my hand!" She said as her monster took the field and then used the effect of Shaddoll Tomb on Resha's field. She still didn't like the crazed smile on Resha's face but she tried to ignore it. She saw the action card she grabbed turned big and then released a light and from the light she saw a man appear.

"Eh? What? Where am I?" He said as he looked around and then under him a tomb appeared and string busted out and wrapped the man and began to pull him down.

"AHHHHHHHH! NOOOOOOOO! LET ME GOOOOOOOOO! SAVE MEEEEEEEEEE!" he screamed as he was pulled into the tomb and then his screams went silent as the tomb disappeared. Yuzu watched in horror at the area of where the tomb just was.

"...What…why…" Yuzu then looked at Resha who was laughing in glee.

"What did you do?!" She yelled at the laughing girl trembling in fear. Resha was still laughing but the crazed look on her face made her even more creepy.

"What happened?! Stop laughing!" Yuzu yelled and just like that Resha stopped laughing but still smiling like a child that saw something so interesting that Yuzu felt herself wanting to hide behind her monsters.

"Why should I stop laughing? I'm having so much fun." Resha said, wrapping her arms around herself in glee.

"What? What do you mean?" Yuzu yelled.

"You finally did something to make me smile from the bottom of my heart." she said and then began to laugh again.

"What? No dueling is supposed to bring smiles to everyone…" Yuzu said, looking at Resha in shock.

"I don't understand you. Everyone is smiling, the only one not smiling is you." Resha said as she extended her arms and for a brief moment Yuzu saw the audience and saw that just like Resha said, they were indeed smiling.

"What did you do?" she asked as her hair covered her eyes and Resha just tilted her head as she watched the trembling girl before her. Yuzu looked up and Resha saw that Yuzu was trying to hold back tears.

"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Yuzu yelled trying to understand and then remembered something.

"That light from your duel disk…" Resha just smiled at what Yuzu said, pissing her off more.

"STOP SMILING AND ANSWER ME!" she yelled. But Resha just did a spin in her spot and smiled at her monster. Yuzu clenched her hand to the point that blood started to flow down. Resha stopped spinning and bowed but when she bent up Yuzu saw her pick up an Action Card.

"Why are you so angry? Isn't it your dueling style to smile all the time." Resha asked.

"NO!"

"What don't you duel to smile? My aren't you a taghiat saghir" Resha said, confusing Yuzu even more.

"What did you call me?" she asked but Resha just tilted her head at her.

"Taghiat saghir? My, aren't we uneducated. Well how about Satsujin-sha?" Resha asked.

"I'm not a murderer!" Yuzu yelled.

"Oh? Then what about that poor innocent man you tossed aside just for more life?" Resha asked with the crazed look back on her face. Yuzu took a step back remembering what she just did.

"No… I didn't…" Yuzu looked down trying to convince herself but Resha's laughter sent a chill down her spine. She looked back up and held back a scream with how close Resha was to her face. Yuzu felt Resha's hand touch her face and he stood frozen under her cold touch.

"But you did. You sent him to the graveyard, not me. You sent him to the Shadows not me. That was all you. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Resha said and then started to laugh when Yuzu hit her hand away and began to run away from her but Resha's monster jumped into the air and made her fall from the shock wave of the blast from when it landed behind Resha. Yuzu tried to convince herself she did nothing wrong but the man's scream and plea for help kept playing in her mind.

"Well? What now my Satsujin-sha? Will you try to stand up or sink into a pit of darkness?" Resha asked, looking at Yuzu in glee of the torment that was happening to and the torment that was happening inside Yuzu.

"I…I end my turn." Yuzu said, still looking at the ground in horror.

"My turn… Draw" Resha said and then looked at her card and then smiled.

"I activate my Shaddoll Theater field spells effect. Since I control at least one Shaddoll fusion monster I can return one monster on your field back to the hand. I'll return Mozarta." she said and she watched as string wrapped around Mozarta then pulled her out of the doors of the theater. Mozarata fell off Yuzu's duel disk causing her to grab her monster with a shaky hand.

"Now El Shaddoll Shekhinaga attack Canon!" she said and watched as Yuzu was blown away again from the blast of her monster being destroyed. She saw Yuzu get up slowly and just sighed.

"I end my turn." she said, watching Yuzu struggle to breathe.

Yuzu LP: 4200 Hand: 3

"My...Hah...Turn…Hah…Draw" Yuzu said drawing a card from her deck but in a lot of pain from the two attacks. She looked to her side and saw an Action Card but then remembered the man from before and looked away in horror.

"I attack Reeeshaddoll Wendi with Opera." Yuzu said and watched as her monster destroyed Resha's monster. Resha didn't even flinch when Wendi was destroyed.

"I end my turn." Yuzu said when she couldn't do anything else.

'How disappointing.' Resha thought as she drew her card from her deck after she saw Yuzu look away in horror from the Action Card next to her.

"I activate Shaddoll Theater and return Opera back to your hand and now that your field is open El Shaddoll Shekhinaga attacks you directly." she said and watched as Yuzu looked in terror as her monster was returned to her hand and then El Shaddoll Shekhinaga attacking her knocking her into a pillar that knocked the wind out of her.

"My you have become dull my Taghiat saghir." Resha said.

"Duels…are supposed…to bring…smiles…" Yuzu groaned, still struggling to stand.

"And I was, along with the crowd. The only one not smiling was you." Resha said again.

"NO! THAT IS NOT THE DUELING I BELIEVE IN!" Yuzu yelled but Resha just sighed and whipped off some imaginary dust off her dress.

"I activate Shaddoll Tomb" Resha said and Yuzu held back a gasp remembering when Resha picked up an Action Card. She saw the light from a person and felt the world stop around her.

"Huh? What happened? Eh… Yuzu?" the person said as they floated and then Yuzu saw the tomb appear below them and then the strings burst out.

"WHAT?!" they screamed as they began to get pulled down. Yuzu tried to run after them but her legs were not fast enough and she felt tears fall down her face. The person looked down and seeing her face tried to smile at her, making it worse for her.

"Yuzu, I love you." they said and then they went into the tomb and Yuzu fell on the ground as she stared at the spot the tomb was. She couldn't hear anything around her. Not Resha's laughing, not her heaving breaths, and not the rattles of the dolls that were laughing at her despair. She crawled to the area hoping it was a dream but the pain from her legs and lungs reminded her of the harsh reality. She screamed at the top of her lungs but no one heard her.

"DAAAAAADDDDDDDDDD!"

Resha's character is Mistress 9 from Sailor moon. Her character was fully flushed out thanks to the song "House of Memories" when writing the chapter she began to make me nervous which my sister said was a good thing so I hope she makes you scared just like she did me. See you in the next chapter where the duel reach it's end.

If your opponent is about to special summon a monster, you can negate the summons and the method used for the summoning can no longer be used for the rest of the duel

Shaddoll Tomb

Both players are only allowed to use spell and trap cards from the deck. If both players have a spell or trap card in their hand that wasn't in their deck, both players can discard it and gain 1000 life points.

Shaddoll Manor

All monsters that are Special Summoned from the extra deck cannot attack the turn they are summoned.
