Chapter 31

Yuzu was standing in a completely black room when she opened her eyes. She looked around swearing that her father just tucked her into bed like he did when she was five but after her duel with Resha she didn't care if she acted like a baby. She began walking when she felt someone grab her leg causing her to scream. She looked at the owner of the hand and felt her breath hitch when she saw the man from her duel looking at her with a deformed face.

"Why? Why did you kill me? Did you find entertainment in my pain?!" he shouted, dragging Yuzu toward him as she struggled to get away.

"N-No that's not true!" she yelled finally getting away from the man and running with all her might. She heard the man yelling at her and chasing her. She ran until she reached a set of doors and without stopping she opened the doors and hid behind them as the man began screaming in agony. She began catching her breath when she finally opened her eyes. She looked around and felt all blood drain from her face as she was in the theater with Piano and Da Capo wrapped in chains screaming in agony. She looked at her arm and saw her duel disk and saw she only had 900 life points and then she heard laughing coming from in front of her causing her to tremble where she stood. She slowly looked at the stage and saw Resha with her monster right behind her. She turned around but when she saw the door that was right behind her gone Yuzu felt tears start to fall down her face as she slowly turned around at the laughing girl. She saw the monster make its way toward her but she stood frozen as the monster's mouth opened to reveal sharp teeth coming right at her. She stood frozen as the monster came face to face with her and she saw in her mouth the remains of her father and at that moment Yuzu began to scream.

Yuzu screamed at the top of her lungs as tears fell down, her father rushed in and pulled her into a hug trying to calm her down. He kept saying everything is alright and it's just a dream until Yuzu finally stopped screaming and held him tight letting her mind come to terms that just like her dad said she was having a bad dream and she is awake now and he's alive. When she finally calmed down, he told her that he would be down stairs and that he made her a big breakfast and slowly he left telling her that if she needs him at all just call he would be there in a flash. When he finally left Yuzu changed out of her pajamas and after tying up her hair she came downstairs to see everyone here waiting for her. When they saw her she was rushed with questions about how she is doing and if she needed anything let them know. She couldn't help but let out a laugh as she let herself be looked after by her friends who only thought about her well being.

Reiji sat at his desk looking at the results of the previous day with an image of Gongenzaka and Yuzu with Win under them but it was the image of Resha that he was focused on. All the records about her were clean. When he looked into Endymion Duel school everything was clean. He couldn't understand but remembered what Yuzu talked about when she spoke to Yoko and he had some professors go to the school in person to try and get some answers. Just then Nakajima rushed in and told Reiji that he has a visitor at the front desk. Reiji looked at the image one last time and then left with Nakajima following right behind him and when he made it to the entrance he saw Yoko talking with Masumi. When he came into view Masumi bowed to Yoko and left as she waved at the retreating girl.

"I was told you wish to see me." Reiji said as Yoko looked at him.

"Yes I think we should talk and before you say anything Shuzo is looking after Yuzu and her friends and said I could ask you what the hell is going on?" She said, staring Reiji in the eyes. With a sigh he gestured for Yoko to follow him to the main office so they could talk privately. When they reached his office Reiji sat in his chair with Yoko standing on the other side of the table with her arms crossed watching as he took out a file and passed it to her. She looked at the file and looked at him in confusion from what she saw. She put the file down and closed her eyes as she pinched the bridge of her nose.

"So Resha had a perfect dueling record and all her opponents ended in a coma and nobody investigated it?" she asked when she opened her eyes again to look at Reiji who was looking down in what she could assume was shame for not investigating her background. She watched him for a few minutes and when he said nothing she let out a sigh.

"So what do you plan on doing now?" she asked knowing that she couldn't change the past but they could stop something like this from happening again.

"We are investigating Resha and the school but I can't say anymore than that we are trying to make up for our mistake." Reiji said. After talking some more about Yuzu mental health and how Reiji would be more than willing to pay for it Yoko left at least getting some info although it wasn't much but it was something now she needed to talk to Shuzo about what Reiji said and also for Yuya to get ready for his duel.

You Show Duel School

Yuzu sat on the sofa in the living room taking in the silence. Yuya had to rush for his duel against Aya and Gong, Ayu, Futoshi, and Tatsuya went to cheer for him. Yuzu wanted to go but her father said no and Yuya told her that just resting and cheering for him is enough. So now she sat on the sofa with her deck in front of her. She picked up her deck and looked at each of her cards and when she focused on Queen Knight: Pendulum warrior, Queen Knight: The Valkyrie of the North, and Queen Knight: The Melodious Maestra she felt a strange sense of calm wash over her and with a smile she brought her deck to her chest and said thank you to them. With a look of determination she stood up and went to where she believed her father was and when she found him she asked him about Ritual summoning confusion him for a moment but after telling him about Queen Knight: The Valkyrie of the North being a ritual monster he began to tell her about ritual summoning. She laughed when he said that Ritual monsters belong in the main deck and not the extra deck and the only way to summon them is if you are holding the ritual spell card and the monsters needed to summon it. He looked confused and she had to tell him inside joke but to keep going since she wanted to know more.

"Maybe hands on is a better lesson than talking about it" A voice said coming from right behind Yuzu causing her to turn around and being shocked to see Masumi with a confident smirk on her face.

"Ma-Masumi?!" Yuzu said surprised but Masumi told Shuzo if what she said was a good idea and he thought about it wondering if Yuzu was up for it but Yuzu stood up and told her dad she wants to try Masumi's idea. And he looked between both girls and with a sigh he agreed, but if he sees Yuzu is going to have another panic attack he is stopping the duel. Both girls nodded and went to the duel arena waiting for Shuzo to set the field.

"All right the field will be the Celestial City." He said while Yuzu and Masumi were in a field with white buildings surrounded by clouds and trees. The place looked like Olympus and both girls got their duel disks ready for the Ritual Summoning lesson. Shuzo watched as Masumi was teaching Yuzu how to Ritual summon for the next few hours and he swelled with pride with how fast his baby girl was learning. Then when she summoned her monster he felt tears of joy and for some reason relief fell down as the monster smiled and flew around the field with Yuzu and Masumi in her arms laughing at how long it took. When the field disappeared he ran in and gave Yuzu a hug saying she did it and how proud he was and then he went over and began to enthusiastically shake Masumi's hands saying thank you over and over again.

"It's ok. Take it as a thank you for beating Resha." Masumi said.

"How's Yaiba doing?" Yuzu said, trying to stomp the fear that began to swell up back down.

"Mad that he can't start training again since the doctors want to make sure he's really okay. By the way maybe you should see a doctor too since you were slower in our duel than our rematch." Masumi said but Yuzu assured her that she was fine and that she will be better with some rest but in the back of her mind she still had doubts but she didn't want to worry her friends and dad more than they already were so she smiled hoping she convinced Masumi she was okay. With a nod Masumi left and both Yuzu and her dad walked back to the living room with a comfortable silence. They sat down on the chairs at the table and with a quick look Shuzo brought out his duel disk and checked the results and with a goofy smile he said Yuya won his duel. She smiled and waited for her friends to come back to celebrate getting past the second round. She watched her dad leave to get ready for a huge party and with a look at her deck on the table she went to help her father.

Meanwhile in the abandoned warehouse Rin had finally got free from her bindings and looking around she found her bike outside of the warehouse but hidden from view of people that may have been walking around. She checked her duel disk that was still attached and released a sigh of relief when her deck was still there. She got on and with a quick look around she took off scaring a couple that was walking by. She rode off and looked at her bracelet and clenched her fist.

'I coming for you, you bitch! And when I find you I'll force you to tell me where Yugo is!' She thought riding away from the place that was her prison for a short while.

Reiji received a call about a duelist riding a bike speeding down main street but he unfortunately had more pressing matters to attend to. He looked down at Resha's file and put it away knowing that he would have to put his investigation to the side since right next to the area that Resha's file used to be was the carded form of Hokuto. He saw the video of Hokuto. Although they could see the perpetrator they never saw their face.

'So we have another person here carding people but from the fact they gave off powerful fusion waves they could only be from fusion' Reiji thought leaving the room. Just as he left the room Nakajima ran up to him to inform him that the professors they sent to Endymion Duel School have just reported back saying that all the teachers don't remember Resha being part of their school. He was surprised since their records refute what they claim but from the way Nakajima is looking at him he could tell they are not lying. He told Nakajima to investigate some more since things went from bad to worse. Nakajima looked confused but when Reiji showed him the carded form of Hokuto he instantly understood and left to get his investigation started. Reiji walked into the control room and decided on what the final round would be for the Maimai Championship.

You show Duel School

"Now for the duel news. Fierce battles took place at the Maimai Championship. In the Junior Youth Class, the second round matches have completed today, and the best 16 duelists are left. Here's the lineup." The news announcer said grabbing a piece of paper while Yuzu, Yuya, Gongenzaka, Ayu, Tatsuya, Futoshi, Shuzo, and Yoko sitting on the sofa resting after the massive party they held with proof of a messed up kitchen being right behind them.

"First is Yuzu Hiiragi from You Show School." A picture of Yuzu appeared and Shuzo Yelled excited only to get hit by her fan and telling him to behave since they can't hear the TV while everyone else is laughing nervously. While he rubbed his head with tears falling down.

"Also from You Show School is the duelist known for his entertainment dueling. He made his name with Pendulum Summoning, Yuya Sakaki!" Just then Yoko did the same thing Shuzo did and all Yuya could do was try to hide his face in embarrassment while Yuzu rubbed his back in support while Shuzo was in the background Sulking that Yoko can fan-girl but he can't, the world's not fair. Everyone was excited and when they showed Gong he beamed with pride.

"Look, it's the other competitors!" Ayu said when the image changed from Gong to the next group.

"Following the three members of the international team Knight of Duels, it's Kirigakure Cooking School's Michio Mokota! (Yoko Fan-girls again) Next is Teppei Tairyobata, the fishing duelist. His favorite phrase is "netting a big haul." I hope he catches a big one. And next we have another tournament favorite, Shun Kurosaki." The announcer said but everyone became serious when Shun was mentioned as they thought about his duel against Sora and the possible whereabouts of their missing friend.

"I still remember his astonishing duel in the first round when he defeated You Show School's Sora Shiunin. He also won his second round in a one-sided battle. What kind of dueling will all our promising duelists show us in the third round, I can't wait." Shuzo turned off the TV and let the uncomfortable silence loom.

"I don't like him. He goes too far in his duels." Tatsuya said with Futoshi and Ayu nodding in agreement.

"It's probably his fault that Sora is missing." Ayu said with Tatsuya nodding in agreement and Futoshi saying that the frustration is giving him the shivers.

"Sora…" Yuya said with worry and Yuzu grabbed his hand in reassurance. When everyone saw that they also got up and they all held each other's hands in reassurance that they would find Sora.

Fusion:

"I've heard that you want to go back to Standard again." Leo asked Sora.

"Yes! There are XYZ refugees in Standard!" Sora said.

"I will allow it. But you won't be acting alone this time. They will come with you" Leo said and then he waved his hand and a group of people appeared.

"The Obelisk Force?" Sora asked, confused. But turned around to face Leo again for an explanation.

"Hunting the XYZ refugees is your secondary mission. This is your primary mission." He said typing on his duel disk. Sora received a message and when opened it he saw a file of a person.

"Who is this person?" Sora asked, looking back up from his duel disk.

"Someone with the ability to see the truth." Leo said but when Sora still looked confused he told him that all he has to do is make sure to bring this person back safe and sound and if he needed to battle against other duelists in Standard to bring this person back then he was allowed to do so. With a serious look Sora Saluted Leo and then left the room with the Obelisk force leaving right behind him.

Standard

"Don't worry. Sora will definitely come back. Definitely! That's what I believe!" Shuzo said Everyone nodded as hope began to fill them. He also told them that they should try to win since there was a high chance that Sora would notice. Everyone agreed and then Yoko popped their happy bubble when she said they should clean up. Everyone looked at the mess and only one thing ran past their mind. They all took off leaving Yoko, Shuzo, and Gong all by themselves. Shuzo let out a nervous chuckle and slowly backed away from Yoko who suddenly had fire around her and with the rage of Red-Eyes Black Dragon she stormed around finding the cowering kids who began praying to Obelisk, Slifer, or Ra for protection but they were abandoned since You School had screams of terrified children with the mechanical laughter of a mad woman.

Meanwhile Reiji looked out on the peaceful town telling his mother that he will stop the enemy from invading.

The next day the stadium was filled with cheering fans as the final contestants stood in the center of the stadium. But when Yuya and Yuzu looked around they realized Shun wasn't there. They also saw the three Knights also seemed to be looking for someone.

"Everyone, thanks for waiting! Junior Youth Class's 17 heroes will participate in a battle royal!" Nico said, shocking all contestants with what they heard. But the audience cheered in excitement. Except Yoko, Shuzo, Futoshi, Tatsuya, and Ayu who were just confused.

'17 duelist? But there were only 16 of us. Who is this extra person?' Everyone thought while some thought they must be a last minute add in and what could this person do.

"Having a battle royal in the city is a good idea, Reiji." Himika said as both she and Reiji were looking upon the stadium from the LDS School.

"If we announce that there are invaders from another dimension, it'll either cause panic or they won't believe it. By sending the Junior Youth remaining 17 duelists into the city, they'll strike the enemy during the battle royal. These eight will protect the people in the stadium from possible harm. The Youth Class's best 8 are highly skilled." Reiji said and when he looked at the eight kids behind him they all stood there confidently.

"For LDS's honor, we're counting on you to protect the people in the stadium and our world, '' Himika said to the eight duelists.

"Yes!" they all said at the same time. Reiji nodded, then looked behind them to where Ruri and Shun were standing.

"Kurosaki, among the 15 duelists at the stadium, your mission is to determine which are worthy of joining the Lancers." Reiji said to both siblings.

"You're telling me not to fight the enemy. I can't promise that." Shun said, causing Ruri to look at him in worry.

"Nii-san…" She said.

"If those eight are defeated, I'll-"(WE-Ruri interrupted) We will be required to fight." Shun said not pleased that Ruri was saying she will fight as well but he knew he can't stop her from joining.

"You're only Junior Youth! Stop being arrogant" one of the kids said.

"Have any one of you seen friends being carded in front of you? Have any of you smelled burning flesh as monsters destroyed everything you love? Have any one of you given up your nice warm bed for someone more unfortunate than you? What you saw between the duel of my brother and Shun was actually child's play to what happened at my home." Ruri said, shocking the eight duelists and Himika into silence.

"Try hard to survive." Shun said as both him and Ruri left the room. Everyone in the room pondered Ruri's words and with determination they left to take their positions around the audience in the stadium.

"I'll explain the rules! It begins exactly at noon! (a clock showed they still have 15 minutes) At that moment, Action Cards will be dispersed. Now the important part! Pendulum Cards created by Leo Corporation are hidden throughout the city!" Nico said, causing Yuzu, Yuya, and Gong to say what. But he continued ignoring their shocked reaction.

"The contestants must go into the city and find two Pendulum Cards before they can duel! And no you can't steal Pendulum cards that Leo Corporation didn't make and say you found them. We'll be watching" Nico said, causing Yuzu and Yuya to sigh in relief knowing that the other contestants can't steal their cards in their deck already saying they found them when they didn't. The other contestants were excited to pendulum summon themselves so maybe they wouldn't try and steal but you never know.

"Under the ante rule, they'll wager their Pendulum Cards in the matches. After deciding how many Pendulum Cards to wager, the winner gets the loser's Pendulum Cards. The time limit is 24 hours. The Field Spell Quartet of Quandry will activate, dividing the city into four areas." He said as the field spell came up. All the contestants had looks of determination as Nico said they could duel anywhere.

"The city is an Action Field?" Tatsuya asked excitedly and Ayu also excitedly stated four areas while Futoshi had stars in his eyes.

"I'm getting the shivers" they all said excitedly causing Yoko to chuckle at them while Shuzo was yelling hot-blooded.

"It's almost time to begin (5 minutes on the clock) Contestants, ready your Duel Disks!" Nico stated and all Duel Disks activate with the duel disks stating their in Battle Royal Mode. The crowd cheered louder when everyone was now ready. Nico said open the gate and the stage began to rise. Outside the person who had come to Standard was shocked when they saw the stadium lift. They looked around and when they saw the screen showing what was going on they stood there waiting.

'So there you are,' They thought as Shun walked on stage with Ruri next to him but her face was covered but nobody saw them join the others.

"Let's begin! The Duelist meet at the battlefield! Along with their monsters, they kick the ground and fly through the sky to move around the field! Witness dueling's greatest evolution! Action!" Nico said as he pointed to the clock.

"DUEL!" The crowd finished when it hit noon and the Pendulum Cards scattered around the field and then contestants were off.

Just so it is known Isao Kachidoki lost to one of the three knights since Yuya never dueled him.
